How many Physical CPUs Arch Linux Supports?

How many Physical CPUs does Arch Linux Support, the traditional 2?
Can it support 4 or more Physical CPUs, How?
By Physical CPUs I take RedHat deffinition :
Red Hat defines physical CPUs equivalently to sockets, so a multi-core and/or hyperthreading CPU is counted as a single CPU or socket when determining whichedition of Enterprise Linux to deploy.
Thanks

Let's put it this way.
Linux can likely support more cpu's than you can afford.
That is, unless you are super rich..
If that is the case..then by all means.....
....donate!
EDIT: After some peeking around.. I found this.
SGI Altix 4700 incorporates the shared-memory NUMAflex™ architecture, which simplifies software development, workload management and system administration. It supports up to 512 processors under one instance of Linux and as much as 128TB of globally shared memory. Supporting these powerful capabilities is the NUMAlink™ interconnect, which leads the industry in bandwidth and latency for superior performance on cluster applications. The SGI Altix 4700 represents a versatile solution for shared or distributed memory applications of any scale.
Likely SGI has a few tweaks that haven't percolated into the mainline kernel yet (pending or rejected)..But sgi usually pushes the high end mutiprocessor systems..
So.. around 512?

  • How many users can 1 Xserve support?

I have one Xserve (10.5.2, 2x3GHz, 5GB RAM, 1.34TB RAID 5) that I want to support the following services for my SMB:
    DNS, DHCP
    AFP, NFS, SMB
    Open Directory
    Print
    Software Update
I also want to have mobile sync'd network home folders, but only for ~/Documents and iCals and Address Books (I don't want everyone's MP3s or family photos).
I occasionally will use NetBoot/NetInstall, but only 1-2 users at once.
I am getting ready to migrate my company to OpenDirectory and 10.5.2 for all users and was hoping someone here might be able to tell me how many users I can reasonably support with one Xserve.
Also, is it a bad idea to have everyone using "mobile" accounts? It seems like it would be less strain on the server to have the occasional sync from users than everyone reading & writing all the time. Also, if anything happened, there would be a local copy and a remote copy of any files.
    Thanks.

    Rosemarie,
BeehiveOnline currently supports 95,000 users and we have groups on the system as large as 10,000, that is probably about as big as we want to go - remember collaborating with 10,000 users is not an effective way of working - maybe a more open way of delivering content may be more appropriate. Given that the only issues we have with very large groups is the time it takes to run and the email traffic it generates as the large group are processed.
So it is possible to host 10,000 in a group but we need to be warned in advance and work with you to minimise the impact as the group is set up.

  • How many airport express can be supported by software remote at one time.

how many airport express can be supported by software remote at one time?
I mean remote software can control at one time

Well Apple makes an iOS application called 'Remote' it's used to control iTunes on a Mac, Or to control an Apple TV Multimedia features.
Apple also makes "AirPort Utility" for iOS. Airport Utility can be used to configure Aiport Extrem, Airport Express And Time Capsul using an iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch. You can use it to connect to one device at a time. While connected to the device you can configure it to work as part of a larger Airport network. If you want to configure muliple device, you would connect to one device,  configure it,  And then connect to the next device, and configure it, and so on and so fourth.
    I haven't found a limit.
How big of a network are you trying to make?

  • How many 7920 phones can be supported on one Cisco 1131AG access point?

    hi all,
who knows that how many 7920 phones can be supported on one 1131ag AP? Thanks a lot...

    Hi Alomar,
    Hopefully this info will help;
Number of 802.11b Phones per AP
Before any discussion about network planning can take place, it helps to understand the basics of the overall network capacity.
The following network capacity guidelines apply to sizing the Wireless IP Telephony network:
No more than 7 concurrent G.711 calls per AP.
No more than 8 concurrent G.729 calls per AP.
Note These design recommendations assume that Voice Activity Detection (VAD) has been disabled on the Cisco 7920 Wireless IP Phones. Use of VAD on the Cisco 7920 phones can conserve bandwidth, but Cisco recommends that you disable VAD on all Cisco CallManager servers to provide better overall voice quality.
In addition to determining how much bandwidth is needed for an 802.11b VoIP call, you must also consider overall radio contention for a particular RF channel. The general rule is that you should not deploy any more than 20 to 25 802.11b endpoints per AP. The more endpoints you add to an AP, the more you reduce the amount of overall bandwidth and potentially increase transmission delays.
The maximum number of phones per AP depends on the calling patterns of individual users (based on Erlang ratios). Cisco recommends no more than 7 concurrent calls using G.711 or 8 concurrent calls using G.729. Beyond that number of calls, when excessive background data is present, the voice quality of all calls becomes unacceptable.

Post the source of your information abouit the limit of 9 names.
Even the Oracle doc shows 1..30 names in the same provided although that doesn't necessarily indicate a limit.

  • How many spine nodes will be supported on ACI Fabric?

    Hi Experts,
I want to clarify how many spine nodes will be supported on ACI Fabric now and future(maximum number of spines)? Because there are some different speculations about that. Someone says it'll be 12, others say it'll be 16 spines. Which  one is correct or others?
    Thanks in advance.
    Paul

    Hi, Paul,
As today and the roadmap as per my information, We are still looking at 6 spines in each fabric.
Number of leafs support has more importance which is 200 within one fabric in the upcoming release Q2'15. One fabric will also support approx 100 FEXs as well.

  • How many luns does mac OSX support from a single target (array) is it 255??

How many luns does mac OSX support from a single target (array) is it 255?
For example, if using the Dual-channel 4Gb Fibre Channel PCI Express card?  Is it 255, 512 or higher?  I know it uses the ATTO driver, but I can't find any documentaiton about the upper limits of how many luns this HBA can address from a single target array on a SAN.  Thanks.

    Hi,
The card should be an ATTO 42ES whcih supports 255 LUNS per channel
Here's the info from the attached link
Consider the following Celerity FC host adapter guidelines:
    • ATTO 4-Gb and 8-Gb FC cards (PCI-X and PCIe only) are supported. • Latest HP-specific ATTO Celerity FC host adapter driver • Latest HP-specific ATTO Configuration Tool • A maximum of 256 targets per host adapter channel are supported. • A maximum of 255 logical unit numbers (LUNs) per host adapter channel are supported. • PowerPC- and Intel-based servers are supported.

  • How to make an Arch Linux Distribution Installer?

I have made a customized distribution of Arch Linux in vmware.
I now need to make its installer for deployment.
    How can I do it?
I have tried Archiso, but it makes new work dir and downloads archlinux again.
I want to use the current installed and modified linux for the installer.
    Please help

    Hello,
Basically, I am doing the same right now in VirtualBox.
There is aif, an installation framework for Arch, which can be customized to install and configure Arch just like you manually did. Use [wiki]Archiso[/wiki] to create a bootable medium and make sure to install aif on it. Now, you need to modify aif in /usr/lib/aif to make exactly the same changes you did to your running system. Then, you can run /sbin/aif from the bootable medium to install your customized Arch.
Unfortunately, I myself do not know how to change aif to do things to the target system, e.g. install custom packages or manipulate files on the installed system. If someone has already done this or knows how to do, I'd be very grateful if he can share with us.

  • How many SCCM 2012 consoles are supported

    Hello,
I have been asked to determine how many SCCM 2012 consoles we can run in our environment. We have a large number of support staff (100+) that need to have access to Remote Tools and possibly some Collections for application deployment.
I didn't see anything from my quick search on TechNet or the web about this issue.
Also, is there any web console (or similar) that can be used, instead of giving access to the console?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Angelo
    Angelo

There is no limit that I know of. The only limitation would be the server hardware. If giving support staff access to the console worries you, you can use other means.
    1. Give users just the remote control/remote tool apps
    2. Link collection to security groups and allow support staff to modify the groups.

  • How many bookmarks does my homepage support?

    Hello,
I bookmark and it doesn't appear in my bookmarks list. Do I have too many bookmarks? How many am I allowed to save? If it is unlimited, where do I find the others? I have been having this problem when I click on the icon that allows me to automatically save a page. But, when I drag them to the toolbar, I then do see it listed.
    Thanks,
    Dan

I do not see the relationship between your title and your question.
There really aren't limits, where are you looking for the bookmarks.
What do you mean by your home page supporting bookmarks.
First let's make sure you know how the bookmarking works.
Bookmarking methods - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Bookmarking_methods
When you use the Star to bookmark a page you can choose the folder it goes into.
There are three primary bookmark folders.
    - Bookmarks Toolbar
    - Bookmarks Menu
    - Unsorted Bookmarks
You can see all of your bookmarks in the bookmarks sidebar ("Ctrl+B") or in the Library List ("Ctrl+Shift+B") and you can use search from the location bar, from the bookmarks side bar or from the Library List to find a bookmark.
If the page was bookmarked then the star becomes filled.
