  • I need to know how many pins my memory has in a 15" macbook pro duo core

I just got this computer for my daughter I wanted to know how much memory it will hold and support. and pin number to make sure it fits. I know that it list 1GB (single SODIMM) 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM (PC2-5300)

Open System Profiler (In your Utilities folder) and under Hardware Overview, look for the model identifier.  That will identify the MBP.
    Ciao.

How many pins has my Mini DisplayPort ? 32 or 20 ? I have a late 2009 MBPro 13" (Impossible to find this answer online!)

Thanks - that's what I am worried about.
The 2010 MBPro is a different version when it comes to the Mini DisplayPort because the 2009 MBPro doesn't transmit audio ony video whilst the 2010 MBPro does both.

  • Ram Upgrade...how many pins?

So I've downloaded the manual for my macbook and it states that the ram is a 200 PIN card, but I can't seem to find 200 pins anywhere.
I want to upgrade the ram in my macbook, everywhere I go only sell 204 pin and 240 pin. I know laptops take 204 pin rams, but according to the manual that won't work.
Is the ram in the macbook a rare type that I must order directly from apple? Does the manual have a typo?
    Please help.
    Thanks!

Try [Here|http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2>. There are other places but I like this one. They have pretty good pricing and they're tested and guaranteed.

  • How many pin connector/2nd hard drive recoomendations?

I have a dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 Mac that I got maybe 2-3 years ago, probably closer to the latter.
I am getting into HiDef video editing and will be adding a 400 Gig SATA hard drive to the internal bay at the back of the top inside of the computer.
There appears to be 2 female ribbon connectors below the top hard drive on the outboard edge closest to the removable side aluminum door panel.
One female pin connectors is longer, the other shorter.
I am trying to figure out whether I need a 7 pin connector hard drive or a 21 pin.....I will be getting a Seagate hard drive.
Anyone have a definitive answer compared to a guess?
Also, what hard drive of this size would be a plug and play sorta thing without having to do all sorts of whizbang stuff.....I hear Western Digitial has some 10,000 rmp drives, but I need a high sustained transfer rate fast drive to handle realtime editing using Final Cut Express. Suggestions?
    Thanks.

Ok, I got the same box as you.
I am getting into HiDef video editing and will be adding a 400 Gig SATA hard drive to the internal bay at the back of the top inside of the computer.
Ok HiDef really, really, REALLY, takes up drive space. Especially in uncompressed formats. If your doing this on any regular basis your going to have to seriously consider speed and data redundancy with something like Apple's X-RAID and a Fiberchannel PCI card with a RAID 5 setup and a lot of drives.
Obviously your going to have to learn all about RAID. Sure you could slap a 400GB drive in and go, but as that beast fills up it's going to crawl and your going to have problems as the speed drops considerably as the drive fills up.
You could roll your own external RAID O with a SATA PCI card and a SATA drive enclosure as a working disk for speed, but don't get a whole lot of storage. Backup the finished files to the 400GB internal SATA at night with auto-backup software. But I think of you do this regularly your going to eat up that 400GB in no time flat.
Depends how involved you get, how much money you got to spend.

One female pin connectors is longer, the other shorter.
One is a SATA connection the other is the power supply for the drive.

All you need to know is SATA or Serial ATA. Plug it in and Mac OS X will take you right to Disk Utility to format it. Do a Erase w/Zero, format HFS+(journaled) The "Zeroing" will rewrite the drives bad sector map and make your writes considerably more reliable, it takes some time, but boy is it worth it! You can't do this later without completely erasing the drive. Video needs a good write source as they are very large files.

SATA drives are plug n' play. Just what your G5 needs.
However if your doing a lot of video I suggest a Apple Fiberchannel PCI card and a X-RAID. Because you need large storage space, redundancy of data and speed for lots of HD video. This comes at the price of a lot of drives and a very fast interface.
The Raptors are fast, but they don't have a lot of storage space. The largest one at 10K RPM's has only 150GB of space and you need a Firmtek SATA PCI card to hook them up to G5's (excluding the Quad supposedly). So they make great boot drives and small storage drives.
Of course it's possible to get a 8 bay external SATA enclosure, a FirmTex 8 port SATA PCI card and eight 150GB Raptors and have a total of 1200 GB of drive space. Which you could roll 4 drives as a RAID O (striped) for 600GB as a working disk and the other 4 drives as combined into one for 600GB of backup storage.
Of course you can also use other larger drives with 16MB caches in the external enclosure but they run at 7,200 RPM's which would be fast enough if you striped them for a working disk.
Everything depends upon how much GB's of data you intend to be using daily, and if time = money then speed is a big factor, and if a lot of files then storage space and for backup. Plus how much you can spend.
If you need consulting services for a professional installation then your going to need someone to help you make the right decisions.
Apple's X-RAID is pretty easy and they will help you get set up, but it costs considerable amount of money. If you knew a bit more of what you can reasonable expect you would be doing with HD, also if you knew a bit more about the technology, you could do things yourself.
So you can either go through a couple year learning curve, hire somebody, or spend the money for a Apple X-RAID and have them walk you through the installation.
    Here is some resources.
    HDforIndies.com, Barefeats.com, Accelerate your Mac, MacGurus.com
There are also a lot of Pro Mac video sites which you can google for and start learning. You could also ask in the Apple pro video forums what would be a good hardware configuration for your particular needs.

  • Firewire cable - How many pins?

I am trying to connect my Panasonic HDC-SD9 video camera to my Mac. Consequently I am in the market for a firewire cable. I have presented with a couple of choices, 4 to 6 pin and 6 to 6 pin.
    Which do I need?

The HDC-SD9 is an AVCHD camera. It has a USB port, no FireWire port. The correct USB cable came with your camera when when you purchased it.
If you don't have the cable, you will need to purchase the Panasonic USB cable for the HDC-SD9. You could also use a generic USB 'A' to mini 5-pin USB cable. These are common digital camera USB cables.

  • How many pins does a FireWire 800 have?

I'm trying to determine if a fire wire 800 is interchangeable with a fire wire (IEEE 1394a) 6 pin cable.

There's an adapter for everything! : )  What about data quality?  Is there any significant loss when using an adapter like this?  My interest is for video transfer and the unit I'm looking to use with my iMac only comes iwth a 6-pin Fire Wire.  Just trying to weigh all my options.  Thanks!

  • How many pins have the ANSIC MANTIS and MITE each?

I am using the PCI-MXI-2 and VXI-MXI-2.The core of the two modules is the ANSIC which is developed by NI.So I plan to learn how to use these two ANSICs.

    Hello laidesheng,
Detailed knowledge of the MANTIS and MITE ASICs is not required in order to use NI's MXI-2 products, as you can use the NI-VXI driver for your programming needs.
If you are looking for resources to develop your own MXI and VXI based products, then some good starting points are:
National Instruments KnowledgeBase: What is the PCI-MXI-2 Driver Developer Kit?
Also, you can find more information on the VXI specifications at the VXI Consortium webpage (http://www.vxi.org/)

  • How to find out how many "maximum server memory" should I configure.

    Hello guys
I'm asking myself what i should configure in "maximum server memory".
    Default is: 2147483647
Is there a way to find out whats the best for my Database?
Cause I really dont understand the "DBCC MEMORYSTATUS" output :(
Or is it allways "my server has 32GB of ram, so i configure max server memory to 28GB so the OS has 4GB to use"
I know its a little bit a stupid question...
    Thanks and regards, Dominic

This is NOT at all really a stupid question!! A very valid question. But its very difficult to answer your question :)
There is no strict value for it. But you can come to a close value by understanding what are you running on your machine. But for 32 GB Total Memory, 26-28 would be a good capping and later you can do the adjustment as required.
BTB, important question Are you facing any external memory pressure on your SQL Server and Whats your SQL Server Version(there are some changes for versions)?

  • How Many Memory Modules (1 or 2) Come Pre-Installed in HP Envy Touchsmart m7-j120dx?

I know my HP Envy Touchsmart m7-j120dx came preinstalled with 8GB of RAM.  I purchased it last year from Best Buy.  Haven't taken the back off of the laptop just yet and it's at home while I'm at work, but wanted to see if anyone can verify *how* the standard 8GB of RAM is in there at present?  Two 4GB memory modules or a single 8GB memory module?
I'm trying to place an order online this afternoon to upgrade the laptop to 16GB of RAM and I'd like to know if I need to order two 8GB memory modules or just a single 8GB memory module, depending on exactly how many memory modules are in the laptop at present to make the existing 8GB of RAM I'm running.
Thanks if anyone knows the answer to this.

    Okay, one more question...
The memory in my laptop came pre-stalled with 8GB of it, with the characteristics of 1600Mhz and DDR3L PC3-12800.
Replacement memory (16GB) recommended by Crucial.com for my system has 1866Mhz instead of 1600Mhz, and is DDR3L PC3-14900.
What was recommended has of course slightly higher specs of the memory than what's currently running in my system for an additional $23 over just replacing the memory with 16GB of RAM having the identical 1600Mhz and DDR3L PC3-12800 specs.
Can my HP Envy TouchSmart m7-j120dx actually do anything as far as increased performance in going with the 1866Mhz and DDR3L PC3-14900 memory or would my laptop continue to "dumb the memory down" to 1600Mhz and DDR3L PC3-12800 specs and not be able to utilize the enhanced specs of 1866Mhz and DDR3L PC3-14900?
Just trying to spend my money wisely.  Thanks for any additional clarification.

  • How many memory slots on latest iMac?

Thinking of purchasing iMac 27", 3.4; i5. From what I understand, the memory card access point is in the back, therefore easy to upgrade. How many memory card slots are there? Also, it is recommended at 32 max. Has anyone tried to up that to 64, and if so, any issues. I do a lot of photography with Adobe.
    Thank you in advance.

    1. Four.
    2. At this point, treat 32GB as being the limit.

  • How many times can you enter the wrong pin code on an iphone before it resets?

How many times can you enter the wrong pin code on an iphone before it resets itself?

    Hey Robin.T,
Thanks for the question. The following article provides the answer to your question:
iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
If you enter the wrong passcode six or more times, you'll see a message that says one of the following:
    iPhone is disabled
    iPad is disabled
    iPod touch is disabled
You can also set your passcode lock to wipe the device after 10 unsuccessful attempts (Settings > General > Passcode Lock > Erase Data)
    Thanks,

  • HT4059 When I try to load an ePub book it says out of memory.  How many books can you read at one time?

When I try to load a second book it says out of memory.  How many books can be read at one time?

    Thank you so much...
    1. I don't have that fat format I checked as I saw this on another answer...BUT...you are right the project was very bloated and I made a new project with the sequence and moved a bunch of projects off to an outside drive and things are flying again...this effect "twirl" was on three clips and this seemed to be creating a problem along with it being a bloated project. Don't know why this effect renders easily then the next second doesn't it's on three clips on the entire project and one or another might not render all of a sudden.
    2. I understand what you said about the timeline export...I decided to export the sequence without the matte it was nested in and that sequence did have the chapter markers on the timeline and they again didn't export??? I'll look tomorrow at this it makes no sense if what you're saying is how to do it...the final cut pro book said they should have showed up if I export from the browser and that didn't work either.
    3. I then matted that output and rendered it to output but I am worried this will degrade and compress the sequence more than I want by outputting the same sequence with current settings twice???...the couple of outputs I could make nested looked very good as this was one render...however, I tried doing a quicktime "current settings" with the dvd studio pro info still trying to export chapter markers and maybe it's my imagination but the output didn't look as sharp as just an output with just chapter markers???
    r. I did look at the final cut pro book and it says that mpeg 2 movies will not read chapter markers anyway if you create one in compressor...if this is true it makes no difference if the quicktime output isn't having chapter markers show up. I assume when I go to author though I can put an mpeg 2 movie into dvd studio pro and create chapter markers at that point!! It seems weird it says it can do it with an mpeg 1 but not an mpeg 2 when everyone is using that for dvds.
