How Many Server is needed?

Hi,
Currently we have 2 servers with installed application as follows:
Server 1:
- Hyperion Essbase
- APS (for redundancy)
- EAS (for redundancy)
Server 2:
- OAS (Oracle Application Server)
- Hyperion Shared Services
- Hyperion Planning
- Financial Report
- Web Analysis
- EAS
- APS
- Workspace
We plan to upgrade from version 9.3.1 to version 11.1.1.x
And will add HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) into the solution.
We have around 100+ users for Hyperion Planning and 50+ for HFM.
Questions:
How many server do we need for our solution. And what should we install on each server?
Here is what we think:
Server 1:
- Hyperion Essbase
- APS (for redundancy)
- EAS (for redundancy)
Server 2:
- OAS (Oracle Application Server)
- Hyperion Shared Services
- Hyperion Planning
- EAS
- APS
- Workspace
Server 3:
- Financial Report
- Web Analysis
Server 4:
- HFM

The second option.
If you have 7 SharePoint servers then you need 7 SharePoint Server Licenses.
If you have two people in your company who can use SharePoint then you need two Client Access Licenses (7 server, 2 CAL).
If you had two hundred thousand users who could then you would need two hundred thousand CALs, but the number of server licenses would not change. (7 server, 200,000 CALs).

SP500 tape library - how many server/SAN FC interfaces do I need?

How many server or FC switch interfaces do I need to connect SL500 FC tape library? Let's say we have two FC tape drives installed. Does it mean I need to reserve 3 FC interfaces (one for robot and one for each drive)? Or there is some kind of internal hub/switch which permits to use one FC port to connect them all in a way which is implemented in SL48 library?

if one VMWare host should run more then 2 VMs you need a Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter edition (unlimited versions from Windows VMs on the host) from Windows or 7 Windows Standard licenses (max. 14 VMs).
Keep in mind that processors count into the license requirements.
"...using VMware for high availability..."
This means that you should have at least 2 VMWare hosts which have the RAM and processors to run in caseof hardware problem from the other host ALL VMs.
So you are now need at least 2 Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter licenses or 14 Standard editions.

I have a intranet web site with 15 users connecting to it. The web site is facing a Sql Server 2012 Standard. I have following questions.
1. If I use a specific Windows account with impersonation how many CAL is needed.
2. If I use a Sql Authentication, how many CAL is needed.

I dont think 'SQL Server licensing is dependent on SQL and windows authentication.Its correct that it is CAL based and best answer will be provided by Licensing expert

Taxonomy - how many training documents needed for automatic classification?

I have an example based taxonomy.
I have trained the taxonomy manually with about two documents and expected it to classify automatically after that which it has not done.
According to the URL below

it is mentioned that "You can also classify documents automatically. A prerequisite for this is that there are existing document classes with sufficiently correctly classified documents that meet the classification criteria"

How many dimensions are needed and which characteristics to be used totally depends upon the data model you are using.
for instance take an example of school.
teachers , students are the imp terms in this example .
you can choose these two as dimensions .
teacher's name , address , subject , class , designation etc can be its characteristics . and for students also the important terms describing them can be its characteristics.

I have an old iPhone 4 8GB that worked wonderfully, but I made sure to be very selective about what apps I installed, I deleted apps that I no longer needed or wanted, and I imported my photos & videos to my computer on a regular basis and deletde the unneeded ones from my iPhone. Current repository is the one that we merging changes into it
Original repository is Dummy(empty) repository
Modified repository is Usage tracking repository (or) repository that you want to merge.
So here we use three repositories in which one repository is empty.
3 way -
3way merge is used when both the repositories are identical in many ways but with some differences,like BI Apps 7.9.5 and modified 7.9.3 (or) merging developement repository with production repository.
Current repository is Original BI Apps 7.9.5 repository
Original repository is Original BI Apps 7.9.3 repository
Modified repository is Modified 7.9.3 repository
Here we use three repositories.

Hi Mukhtar,
You can have all the switches in server mode in your network but it is always recommended to have atleast 1 and better to have 2 in your network.
One is required because VTP server is the only switch from where you can modify, add or delete vlan and it will be propogated to all client switch but 2 is recommended to have redundancy incase your one VTP server goes down you will be having another ot take care of your network.
Talking about VTP mode transparent, this mode will allow you to create,delete and modify any vlans but will not participate in any VTP messages and it will also not propogate its VLAN information to anyone in the network.
Also if you want to go for extended range of vlan which is above 1005 you have to configure your siwtch in VTP transparent mode only.

Very often the bottle neck in a java installation (NW04s) is the heap size. In order to increase the heap you simple create new server nodes.
My question is:
How many server nodes can you create per instance?
Is there an upper limit before you have to create a new dialog instance (with a web dispatcher)?
I can imagine that when you create a new server node you also have to increase the heap and max therad of the dispatcher. Is there any upper limit of the heap size of the dispatcher node ?

Rasmus , I think you laid out a real good scenario for every one to contribute
I may be very late but just updating this forum for benefit of everyone who visits this.
In addition to all the points above one must also consider following things if one decides to add more server nodes to one dispatcher
1.Garbage collection time
2.Dispatcher would keep on sending request to node S2 if it is not completely bad and there by impacting all the servernode so you might end up restartiing the entire cluster.
3,Debugging also becomes diffculy as you are not sure on which server node you are within the cluster.
4.If you have something like F5 which does hear beat monitoring even one server node goes bad F5 will not report anything.
So in my view one server node per dispatcher is an ideal configuration.
Over All Dispatcher does not consume more resouces (Disk Space + CPU + memory ) at the same time it will give you maintenance flexibility.
Nothing is right or wrong ,all these things are based on how your infrastructure set up is.

Just as what ManU Philip said, you need to create
Autodiscovery.domaincom and mail.domain.com for external dns server.
Generally, you configure your Exchange Servers as DNS clients of your internal DNS server.
