How many still suffer problems after MLB replacement !?

Hi,
I've had my MacBook for around 4 weeks now, 1.5 of them spent in repair after one kernel panic and the inability to start up afterwards. I received it back yesterday and everything worked fine all night.
I'm currently at work so haven't had chance to check myself, but my girlfriends just rang me to say that the computer won't boot up !?
I think if there is another issue I'll be demanding my money back and purchasing something I can rely on like a MacMini !?
Has anyone else suffered similar problems after an MLB replacement !?
I understand that there are work arounds like resetting the PRAM etc, but would you accept this if say you'd bought a new car and after it having problems on ignition being told by the dealer that it'll work, but you have to remove the battery and clean the spark-plugs every time you want to use it !!
I think Apple should really start offering replacements or people there money back, and even start recalling them until they've identified the problem !!

Hi,
At this point after more than a month of having your MacBook, you cannot get a full refund, or return the MacBook either. My friend has tried to do that with his MacBook, but Apple will not allow them to return or even exchange the MacBook. Soory about that, but if you continue to allow Apple to fix the problems, you will get a working MacBook eventually. By the way, you may want to ask your girlfriend to reseat the battery, make sure the computer is plugged, and if that doesn't work try resestting the NVRAM and the PMU. Also, you can try and reseat the RAM. Hope this helps.

  • How many free disk space after install OS X lion (10.7) ?

    Hi,
I would like to know that how many free disk space after install OS X lion (10.7) on MBA i5.
    Many Thanks,
    Eric

I want to buy MBA i5, I would like to free disk space of MBA 13" i5, Could anyone tell it to me? Thanks
As you're buing a new MacBook Air, it will come pre-installed with Lion.  The actual installation will be somewhat larger than a "clean" Lion install as it will come with iLife preinstalled.  Obviously, with an Air's limited storage space, you want to be sure that you have enough room for any applications and data that you'll want to keep on the SSD as well.  It is fairly easy to upgrade the SSD on an Air:

The amount of RAM you have installed is probably more important.  Fortunately, the newest 13" MacBook Airs all come with 4GB standard now.

  • Problems after motherboard replacement

    Hello,
My PXI system consists of PXI-1045, PXI-8360 and five NI PXI intruments (5152, 4065, 6552, 2532, 5404). I was working with this system without problems for a long time. However, the motherboard of my PC had a specific problem with the ethernet connenction and I decided to replace the motherboard with a new one (same model). After the replacement (the pc finally was fully functional), I tried to power on the PXI chassis, but  I couldn't "see" any module in PXI chassism, using
the MAX. I must tell thatI didn't change the hard disk of the pc, or anything else just the motherboard. After some experiments, I finally fix the probrem with the following solution: First I unplugged all the modules from PXI chassis. After that, I plugged one module and I reboot the pc. After that I plugged the second one module and I reboot the pc. And so on...
This was the only solution that I found in order to indentify all the modules of the PXI chassis.
My question is why happend this thing? Where are the PXI modules' adresses stored? Also, is the procedure I used correct, or I had to do something else in order to make the system work?

    Hello George,
you might want to consider posting this question in a more hardware based forum - the problem does not seem to be related to CVI.
    Good luck

    Hi,
As the previous comment says, CE1XXXX, CE2XXXX, CE3XXXX and CE4XXXX are created. But this is if you are using Costing-based profitability analysis, However, if you're using account-base PA then no tables are created and CPEP, COSP, COSS and other standard CO tables are used.

  • MacBook Pro -- how many battery cycles before time to replace battery?

Got a 5 year old MacBook Pro. There are around 95 battery cycles on the battery. It's the original battery. How many cycles should I expect before it's time to replace?
I ask because Checkmate is suggesting it's time.

  • Cores,  how many are supported by After FX CS3 on win vista?

    Hi folks,
do you know how many cores are supported by after fx CS3?
I am able to use a dual xeon quadcore workstation with 8 cores and 24 GB Ram for my diploma, but I don't know if this hardware is supported by CS3?
It is the Xeon 5355 Quad Core 2,67 Ghz on dual 771 socket mainboard from Tyan. The OS is Win Vista Premium 64bit.
Does anyone of you have further information if this is doable?
    Thanks a lot in advance,
    Roman

Each instance of AE can only access a maximum of 4 GB of RAM (on Vista64). With the "Render multiple frames simultaneously" option in the preferences, AE CS3 and later can start several hidden copies of itself in the background, which can each address that maxmium amount of RAM, so your machine would ideally use 5 processor cores (5 x 4 = 20 GB and leave 4 GB for the OS.)
In CS4 you can set the number of cores to use, in CS3 you have to do it via a text file, detailed in this post:
    i http://generalspecialist.com/2007/02/troubleshooting-after-effects-7.asp (look for "MaxNumberOfProcesses")
PS. On OS X, each instance can address 3.5 GB and on Windows XP and Windows Vista 2 GB (or 3 GB if you are adventurous:

  • UGH. many problems, after 3 replacements during the summer

So, during summer i got 3 replacements, about 7 days apart, after first getting it.
A few months ago it started being ridiculous again.
    Problems:
    1) I've used the DVD drive (it's a burner too) 4 times. 2 of those times i had to reinstall the OS; I then burned an audio cd, and installed a video game. Earlier this week I was having tons of problems with the cd drive. It wasn't working, and now the cd won't even come out (note: the first two times i got it replaced it was because of a cd drive issue)
    2) I get a lot of lock/shut down errors (the multi-languaged gray box)
    3) I can't do any form of hard drive repair using system utilities. it says i need to reinstall and format, but i can't do that because of the cd drive!
    4) I have the defect with the palm rest, where it turns that nasty brown.
    5) The side of the case (near where you would plug in usb devices) is very loose, and if you press it, it makes a weird noise.
    6) The spacebar, and the click on the mouse are sticking (notice: i never take this thing out of doors, and i don't have any drinks or food in my dorm room)
    7) Some of my itunes songs started playing in super fast-foward, so i don't know what that problem is. It seems like it would be the memory, or a hard drive problem.
My major concern is that i do a lot of heavy writing, and i need my computer. I'm convinced that there are problems. Enough of them, at least, to get it fixed or replaced. I need this computer to work, and i can't have downtime.
Do you think it is possible for me to get a temporary computer while it is getting fixed, or do you think they will just give me a replacement all together?

If you do take it in for repair... you might want to use an app like super duper:http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
to make a bootable clone of your drive so you don't loose any data. An authorized apple dealer and repair center might lend you a computer. Who knows...

  • How to fix iphone 4s (searching..) problem after screen replacement

I had a black iPhone 4S that had a cracked screen and I decided if I was going to change the screen i also want to change my iPhone white too but when I finished the whole process my iPhone kept saying (searching..) for signal no matter if there was a SIM card in or not. I also went back into the phone and checked if any cables or antenna cables were not put in and it seems like I put them in all right.. But I just need help how to fix my iPhone to read the SIM card..
    PLEASE HELP..

An iPhone that is ineligible for warranty service may be eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service. For example, an iPhone that has failed due to damage or liquid damage is ineligible for warranty service but eligible for OOW service. However, certain damage is ineligible for OOW service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. Please see Apple's Repair Terms And Conditions for further details."

  • G10 Flash Problem after Lens Replacement - Ideas?

Need some advice on my G10. The story is that I have two G10s -  one had a "lens error" and the other just badly scratched. So I replaced both lenses - one sourced from Chicago and one sourced from China. After replacing both, neither flash will fire. Prior to my meddling both cameras worked perfectly.
I tore them down again and reseated every ribbon cable and internal connection. Same result. If I disable the flash with the menu the shutter fires. If it is set to flash (auto or forced) then the shutter will not fire - the focusing light just hunts around waiting for the flash that never comes.
Now if I put an external flash in the hotshoe - the external flash will fire just fine. Just not the internal. I checked the microswitch under the hotshoe and it is responding fine.  Weird.
So thinking both lens replacement units might be faulty I put the original scratched lens back in (which was working just fine ) and same result - no flash again and no shutter on flash setting.
I am sure it is something I must have done during the reassembly because there are two cameras involved - I just can't figure out what it was.
My other thought is that the capacitor discharged when I disassembled and now it will not re-acquire enough juice to fire.
Any ideas from the Forum? Thanks much.

Hi, I am guessing you do not have the service software, focusing charts, collimator box etc. to recalibrate the lens system?
When the camera shoots how is the image?
I doubt you have 2 bad lenses.
Do you have the service manual ? The flash circuit board usually connects to the DC supply right off the battery box, look in that area for a problem with a connector, you may have reversed one on both cameras? I've worked on a couple models, G5 and the S5 but never on the lens assembly because of all the special tools and software needed. I was able to locate the service manuals for those that I worked on first. If you don't have the service manual try and find it.
So my guesses are you made the same mistake with the flash pcb board connectors on or near the battery box on both cameras or the lens systems need to be recalibrated which is why you have that "hunting" symptom.
Also as an after thought do you have the AC adaptor, if so try it using that and see if the flash works. If it works with that then your problem is most definitely in or around the battery box/flash PCB.
Let me know what you find.

  • How many had fan problems with PbG4 12?

After only 3 years of very gentle care, my fan is growling and may need to be
replaced. In my computer experience, I have never heard of a fan quitting in the
    first 3 years.
But, is this a common problem of this model? If it is, then shame on Apple for building expensive
    computers with cheap components.
    So cast your vote:
did anybody else experience fan problems with the PBG412?

I've had my 12" PB for 4 years now, and I have ever had a problem with the fan. My has workeed fine from day one. I still use it from time to time and, in some ways, prefer it over my Macbook.

  • Headphone Jack STILL not working after hardware replacement

Can someone help me, my headphone jack stop working suddenly from one day to another, it only plays the left channel. I took it to repair store and they changed the whole headphone jack hardware for a new one and it still has the same problem, I thought it was matter of restoring it so it could accept the new hardware but still the same issue. What should I do?

I had the same problem and chatted with tech support and they told me to reset the PRAM and SMC which did not fix the issue.  After contacting them a second time I was told my computer needs to be repaired.  Which is not the problem it is a software issue.
What finally fixed it was (this was done after resetting the PRAM and SMC):
    * Note: you can try this first and maybe it will solve your issue if not reset the PRAM and SMC then do the following.
    1. Open system preferences
    2. Chose sound
    3. Chose Output then headphones
    4. With headphones plugged in I checked the mute box on the bottom right and unchecked it they worked.
Then when unplugged the speakers didn't work so I did the same but choosing the internal speakers
OS X Mavericks: Reset your computer’s PRAM
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    Hope this helps others!!

  • How many Neo2 are problem free?

I bought my first and second Neo2's based on the reviews.
Then I had the lock up problems and came here...fixed the lock up problem although that first board inventually did go bad, the sound and USB2 port crapped out.
I've done a second, with RAID, even an Audigy2 card and its come out perfect.
But I still read all these problems.  I cannot imagine they are all from user error, sure some of them can be but not all.
I'm very happy with the board but with 3,4, and 5 coming up I'm still a bit leary over continuing with this board.
I'd love to be able to post a poll but that option isn't available.  We always hear the bad things but never the good.  Maybe if we had a list built around people who had good luck it would be a better buyers guide.
I'm writing this before I have the time to assemble exactly what I bought, where I installed it and what order I did it but I'll get that together today, in the meantime I'd like to see how other successful stories have gone.
This can't be hard to figuire out, just takes sometime and simple steps.

My MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum is problem free and as been from day one
Very easy build, and very quick at loading windows on Raid 0. runs very stable and plays games great, But how ever there is only one thing I did hate about this board. That is the sound chip on here sucks, So i went out and got me a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro, Now it sounds a hole lot better then what it did sound like

  • Terminal Path Problem after HD replacement (Git, ls)

I recently had my MBP looked at by the Genius Bar, and they determined that I needed a new Hard Drive.  After getting my machine back, I restored it from Timemachine, and all was well.
When I opened up Terminal for the first time to work on a develoment project, I found that Terminal wouldn't recognize git commands, even though git was installed.  When running a git status in my development folder, I received the following error:
    -bash: git: command not found
I did some googling and found that it was probably due to my bash profile PATH.  I ran echo $PATH, which resulted in:
    /usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/X11/bin
Someone indicated that I need to update my .bash_profile, but it didn't seem to exist.  I created it and included the following line, which is where git is installed:
    export PATH=/usr/local/git/bin
    My path then became:
    /usr/local/git/bin
That fixed my Git issue and all was well.  Until I tried to list (ls) the folders in a directory:
    -bash: ls: command not found
I'm having a hard time trying to figure out just exaclty what to do next in order to have all Terminal functionality back.  I'm not all that savy with Terminal, so any help at all would be appreciated.  Many thanks in advance.

You are a god among men, a gentleman or lady, and a scholar.  Thank you!
