How many tasks can be ran at same time

Using VI logger lite and I have ran 2 tasks at the same time using 9162 via 9211 and 9162 via 9215a at 1 Hz for hours and had no problems.
Also did not use the external power for my usb hub. Used laptop with xp. sample rate of 1 Hz for 8 channels
Now I am trying to run 4 tasks at the same time using 2 of the 9211 and 2 of the 9215a. I am now using external power on usb hub. Now I am getting errors in VI logger  saying it's lost module connection after 15 minutes of recording data from 4 tasks. Also am getting blue screen errors on laptop(DOS screen error messages about this error (driver error)). What is up with this? no one on phone support can answer my questions please help. Do I need a new laptop or new usb hub or have I maxed out VI. sampling 16 channels at 1 Hz so it's not high speed issue.

NI ref#7145290
I'm using win xp dell latitude laptop with 256 RAM. USB driver is 1.1
If I remember right the BIOS error had something to do with a generic driver update message probably for the usb driver to be upgraded to 2.0 but I was getting VI logger lite error messages first.
I have not tried this on a desktop yet. I bought a USB 6210(getting it tomorrow probably) so I will be using 3 nodes instead of 4. USB hub is a Belkin 4 node hub with external power. I asked NI what is the recommended usb hub but they said any off the shelf hub will do.
I have been doing 3 nodes with 2 9215A's and one 9211, so far there has been no issues yet with my testing ( 3 hour record time) will do more testing today.  I wouldn't say that I was unhappy with phone support just was wondering why this hasn't been defined in a spec sheet.
I realize that there is hardware involved that is not under NI product line like laptop, RAM and USB driver version etc...
Does it matter what USB driver update I should use to go to usb 2.0? If not where can I get one for this laptop? Dell website wasn't forthcoming on this. I just don't want to compund this issue with a usb driver that has conflicts with this laptop.
Is there minimum RAM requirements also?
Any other recommendations will be welcome. Thanks for responding.

    Hello,

    I dont understand
    THOMAS Patrice

    Hello Thomas,
"MAXLOGMEMBERS" has nothing to do with the number of users that can connect to the instance. It is a parameter to control the number of files that can be assigned to a group of (redo) log files.
how many people can connect at Oracle XE?Well, that depends on how they connect. There are parameters controlling the number of sessions in the database. But if you have a technical user, e.g. when using APEX, there may be more users than sessions in the database...
So you need to clarify what kind of user access you mean.

  • How many parameters can function at the same time?

    Post Author: leongcy23
    CA Forum: General
    Dear all,
I have a situation where I need to use about 6 parameters in a report. In the Record Selection Formula Editor of the main report, I put "OR" for every parameters, which mean I can select either one of the parameter.
    ({DocumentHeaders.ShipVia} in ucase({?CustCode}) to ucase({?CustCode2})) or
({DocumentHeaders.SalesRep} in ucase({?Salesperson}) to ucase({?Salesperson2})) or ....(so on)
In the report itself, there are 11 subreports. But when I preview the report, its only show the correct data if I use maximum 2 parameters. If I use more than 2 parameters, the report result will be incorrect.
Here I just want to know is there any limitation for the usage of parameters in a single report?
I am using Crystal Report version 8.
    Appreciate for help.
    Best Regards,

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
The solution that you given is sounds like I need to select / fill in every parameters in order to get the reports because you use AND in between each parameter. Does it means miss out a single parameter will cause an empty report?
Can I make a selection, for example: I fill in parameter 1, 3 & 5 in order to sort out my report information based on the parameter 1, 3 & 5 rather than fill in every parameters? My objective is to make sorting to my report based on the parameters that I'm using.
For your information, the defaut value of the parameters will be empty (" ") all the time.

  • How many tasks can I have in NI-DAQmx system?

I am working out of the office this week - please send your response to [email protected] as well as my normal email [email protected].
I am designing a new test platform that will run on C# (because we like object oriented text based programming and because the IDE is free).  For hardware we'll use your PXI modules (because your hardware is ultra-reliable).  I'm starting with the following PXI modules 6259, 4072, 6509, 2575, and 2569, but we made add other modules later as future requirements demand.  I am doing the system software architecture now.  I've done some dabbling with Ni_daqmx, and I loathe "tasks" and "channels", but am determined to make them work.
The difficulty I'm having revolves around the overhead with setting up tasks and channels and with the concept of tasks and channels.  Help hasn't helped much.  Tasks seem to work great if you intend to always collect the same large amount of data from many sources and always will do it in exactly the same way.
We want something much more akin to random access memory.  We'll have UUTs of different kinds coming on and off at random times.  Sometimes a test will need a simple DC voltage, and other times another test will need 2 seconds worth of data at 1MS/s.   It can cost around 150msec to make that change (stop the current task, creat another one, configure anohter channel, start up a new task, blah, blah, task this, channle that - for the life of me I can't understand what this damn taks concept does for me but make matters more complicated and bog down my system).
I can just barely glean from the help that I can have only one analog input task at once, but I can have sevferal taks of several different kinds running at the same time ( a digital output task and another task for digital input, and another task for analong input, etc.) .  It does seem that I can set realys without having to put them into a channel and a task (Thank goodness for that - I just wanna turn on a relay I have no idea what a relay "channel" might be.)
In the PXI system I described above I'll have two devices that are analog input devices, the DMM and the Daq.  Even with two devices, can I only have one analog input task running?  Does that mean I've got to waste 150msec just to switch from the DMM to the Daq? (Do you understand my frustration with "tasks"? - I should be able to say "read DMM" and turn around and say "read Daq channel 0" without having to jump thru task and channle hoops and waste a bunch of time doing it).
I'll also have Daq digital IO and two 6509 digital io modules.  Do I have to cram all of that into some "task" concept too?  The Daq card has got many other kinds of wonderful capability (frequency measurement, counters, analog output).  How many tasks can I have for that stuff?  On the DMM card I can measure capacitance amoung other things.  Will I have a capacitance task?  The idea of a "capacitance task" hurts my head.
Golly I hate tasks.  Please help.
I am working out of the office this week - please send your response to [email protected] as well as my normal email [email protected].

    Dave,
Thanks for posting to the NI Forums.
For the good of the community we like to keep conversations that start of the forums on the forums rather than moving to email.  If you want to move to email support I recommend contacting NI through the email route.
I will answer your questions here.  If you need more direct contact please feel free to contact us through [email protected].
For some the concept of tasks may seem daunting, however, for many applications it makes life a lot more simple.  A task at a very fundamental level is simply a collection of channels with a single type (AI, DI, DO, etc.)  and a single timing configuration (sampling rate, continuous vs. finite, etc.).  It is a way to organize configuration data.
The concept of a task is an abstraction like OO programming.  Like OO programming it may take some time to understand but can be a time saver in the end.  Also like OO programming it does add some initial programming overhead.  It is much more simple to simply type a printf statement in C than to have to create a bunch of classes just to output text to the screen. You can accomplish the same thing not using OO programming, but in the end OO programming is extremely useful, because it groups useful information and methods together in one place.
With very simple applications OO programming sometimes does not make sense.  But as a program gets more and more complex OO programming becomes more and more useful.  It takes some learning but it is worth it.
I believe the concept of a task does the same thing.  It does not change the actual functionality of the device or add excessive overhead.  It is just an abstraction that pulls configuration data about a specific "task" and methods the task can perform into a single logical place.
Unlike the entirely abstract concept of an Object, a Task is run on a physical device and therefore has physical limitations.  You can create multiple tasks of the same type, but you can only run a one timed task of each type on a single board at a time.  In other words you can have multiple AI tasks running at the same time but they need to run on different boards or only one can be timed (have a rate).  You can also have multiple timed AI tasks configured for a single board but only one can actually be running at a time.
The reason you can only have a single timed task running at a time is because the M-Series boards (and many other boards as well) have a single timing engine for each type of acquisition or generation.  There is a single timing engine for AI, one for AO, and so forth.  You cannot have channel 1 running at 1 MS/s and another running at 50 kS/s.
However, tasks can exist even when they are not being actively run.  You can create all the tasks you need at the beginning of your program and simply start and stop them as you need.  After the task is stopped you do not need to clear the task until the end of your program.  You can further increase performance by moving the Task into the latest state possible without actually starting the task.  This can be done by calling myTask.Control(TaskAction.Action).  The Task states are further explained in the NI-DAQmx Help Manual.
The concept of a  task will need to be used with any device that is being programmed using NI-DAQmx.  The 6259 and 6509 will need to be programmed using DAQmx.  With the 2575 and 2569 you have the choice of either using the NI-DAQmx API or the NI-SWITCH API.  The SWITCH API does not use the concept of tasks.  For the 4072 you will need to use the NI-DMM API.  This API also does not use the concept of tasks.
Hopefully this information is helpful.  Let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

  • How many tasks can you have in a plan?

How many tasks can you have in a plan?
What is the maximum number of tasks I can reasonably expect to have in a newScale service (version 2007)?
I have approximately 30 tasks in my service.  When the authorizations are complete, and the tasks are initially scheduled, my server response time (between clicking Approve and seeing the next screen) is about 30 seconds.
Does this sound unusual?  Am I trying to do too much with my service?
    Thanks!

    Hi Joe,
There is no "upper limit" on the number of tasks that you can have in a plan. Having said that, the complexity of a plan -- including conditions and the use of external tasks -- can certainly be a factor in response times.
Having said this, 30 seconds seems like a long time and I strongly suggest that you open a case with customer care on this item.
We have alerted them to be looking for a case from you.

  • HT4059 When I try to load an ePub book it says out of memory.  How many books can you read at one time?

When I try to load a second book it says out of memory.  How many books can be read at one time?

    Thank you so much...
    1. I don't have that fat format I checked as I saw this on another answer...BUT...you are right the project was very bloated and I made a new project with the sequence and moved a bunch of projects off to an outside drive and things are flying again...this effect "twirl" was on three clips and this seemed to be creating a problem along with it being a bloated project. Don't know why this effect renders easily then the next second doesn't it's on three clips on the entire project and one or another might not render all of a sudden.
    2. I understand what you said about the timeline export...I decided to export the sequence without the matte it was nested in and that sequence did have the chapter markers on the timeline and they again didn't export??? I'll look tomorrow at this it makes no sense if what you're saying is how to do it...the final cut pro book said they should have showed up if I export from the browser and that didn't work either.
    3. I then matted that output and rendered it to output but I am worried this will degrade and compress the sequence more than I want by outputting the same sequence with current settings twice???...the couple of outputs I could make nested looked very good as this was one render...however, I tried doing a quicktime "current settings" with the dvd studio pro info still trying to export chapter markers and maybe it's my imagination but the output didn't look as sharp as just an output with just chapter markers???
    r. I did look at the final cut pro book and it says that mpeg 2 movies will not read chapter markers anyway if you create one in compressor...if this is true it makes no difference if the quicktime output isn't having chapter markers show up. I assume when I go to author though I can put an mpeg 2 movie into dvd studio pro and create chapter markers at that point!! It seems weird it says it can do it with an mpeg 1 but not an mpeg 2 when everyone is using that for dvds.

It seems like only one at a time. Some times two?

From what I have understood about the email client , it responds off the email providers size limit when sending email but sending larger files from your device without using wifi may take forever to complete, I have sent out 5-6 mb presentations through my yahoo accounts that originally have a 10 mb limit but it is wiser to use wifi to send files of this size because if signal is weak or lost file can sometime become corrupt but it appears that they still send.

  • How many macs can backup to a 3tb time capsule?

If I get a 3tb time capsule is there any limit (apart from the drive size) on how many macs can backup to it. At the moment no more than about 20gb of data per mac. Also has the reliability of the time capsule improved with the new version - I would like it to last longer than 18 months.
    Thanks
    Ben

Let's assume that you backup each Mac separately on the first backup since that will copy the entire contents of the Mac's drive over to the Time Capsule disk. That might average 2-3 hours per Mac.
Once you have the "master" backup of each Mac completed, you can set each of them up for incremental Time Machine backups. On average, the hourly incremental backups only take  a few minutes to complete. To be conservative, call it 5 minutes.
So if it takes each Mac about 5 minutes for an average incremental backup, the realistic limit of Macs backing up to a single Time Capsule would be in the 10-12 range.  I've had 5 Macs backing up for 3 years with no issues whatsoever.
It would be a good idea to purchase AppleCare for one of your newer Macs if possible. That way, your Time Capsule is covered up to 3 years.
Keep in mind that we tend to only hear about issues on the forums. In that respect, this place is like a hospital...just about everyone here has a problem. No one ever seems to post to report that everything is OK.
You don't hear about the millions of devices that are working just fine, so it's tough to make a judgement on a product based on what you see and read here.

  • How Many computers can I install the same product on?

For example If I had purchased the creative cloud membership and my computer has been smashed, when I by a new one will I be able to use the creative cloud on that one and install my applications again and again if my computer keeps breaking because I read that you can only install the same product up to two machines, but what happens when my computer becomes outdated and I want a new one will I be able to use all my applications on it?
Sorry not sure if Im making myself clear
    creative cloud membership (complete)
Example: Bought one computer installed all my purchased apps, first one broke, bought a second one installed all my apps again, second one became outdated so bought a third one, installed apps, will they work on the third machine?
    thanks in advanced

You can. There is no limit for installation, only simultaneous activation, and for this, you can have 2.
As long as you don't move your license from computer to computer every hour or every day, you shouldn't have any issues.

  • How many apps can be open at one time?

My friend did not know how to close apps. I showed her and was shocked at how many she had open at one time. Everything since she got her ipad over a year ago. She must have had 30 games, pictures, internet, lists, contacts, mail, video, everything was open.
It made me curious if there is a maximum number that can be open at one time, and if at some point will they automatically close themselves?
    Thanks

Open apps consume almost no resources, unless they run background refresh. Once they have been inactive for a while, iOS writes the current state back to storage, to free up RAM for other processes. You can see this when some apps, particularly big heavy games like Infinity Blade, relaunch from the starting splash screens instead of taking up precisely where they were left.
It's still good practice to close down stuff every so often, but not necessary, as you've discovered.

  • Restrict how many emails can be send at a time by Email job RSCONN01

    Hello All,
Is it possible to restrict how many number of emails can be sent out from SAP by the email send job? My requirement is - if there are 20000 emails sitting in the send queue, can the dispatcher send out 2000/3000 emails only every time RSCONN01 job runs (currently this job runs every 10 mins). So when the first time job runs, 2000 emails are sent out. After 10 mins when the job runs again, next 2000 emails are sent out.
I looked at the variants for RSCONN01, and there is no field which provides this restriction.
    Any help?

  • How many people can you email at one time with Mail?

I am using filemaker pro 9 to email some of my customers. Does anyone know if there is a limit? Can I send 3,000 people the same email? I have them in my address book. I sent one email yesterday to my list and it appears not all emails were received.
Thanks if anyone knows what the limit is.
    Judy

Mail does not set any particular limit; your email provider would be setting limits. But if you're sending bulk emails, all the recipients should be in the BCC field, not the To: field, as everyone in that field is counted as a separate message. You (the sender) should be the only one listed in the To: field.
At the same time, putting everyone in the To: field violates the privacy of everyone else and exposes them to the very real risk of having their email address hijacked and used to send and receive spam.

  • How many computers can I install the same licensed copy?

When I purchased LR4 in April, I thought, I could install one copy on up to two computers that I owned (my desktop & my laptop).  Tried to install my licensed copy of LR4 this morning and was asked if I wanted to buy a number to install LR4 on my laptop, what gives?  Did I miss something!
    Jack

Just enter your serial number (didn't it ask for one)? There may be a fixed number of installs the EULA allows, like two computers are specified but I don't believe LR, like many other Adobe products tracks this with activation or anything like that. The licence states what you can legally do, you should of course follow this. But I don't know you are forced to.
