Modifying the configuration files in OBIEE 11g

We are facing an error when we tried to to add "<DashboardMaxBeforeMenu>" tag in the instanceconfig.xml manually and restart the presentation services of OBIEE 11g .
I had come across few suggestions that, configuration files in OBIEE 11g cannot be modified manually. I am doubtful on these suggestions . So please, let me know for sure wether we can modify the configuration files in OBIEE 11g manually or not.
It will be very helpful if the process to modify the configuration files in OBIEE 11g is shared with us.

I could not tell you whether the; <DashboardMaxBeforeMenu>10</DashboardMaxBeforeMenu> still works in 11g.
What I do know is that you could manually edit the configuration files. The only thing is when you modify this file via the Enterprise Manager, your customizations get lost. You have to manually add them again.

Pretty sure I just downloaded the .exe files to the SD card (I have a directory called "drivers" there & ran from Windows, no need to boot from anything else. Didn't even need to use Safe Boot. The files do need an .exe extension IE someimes downloads as _exe. No idea why but would just need to rename if download has the underscore and not the period. The you can run them.
Was so easy I really did not think about it. One of the Intel Platform drives does say "requires 1.60 update" so that is the one you need. Do the 1.60, reboot, and then the Intel update.
Key point is the release note on the Intel Platform Installer
"Release Notes
1.Please install the Windows BIOS version 1.60 or higher for Encore WT8-A (PDW09x) before installing this Intel Platform Installer update." note this says "BIOS" and not "USB BIOS" which is a smaller file.

Middleware/Oracle_BI1/bifoundation/web/app/olh/l_en and tried to access with below URL after bounce Weblogic...but no luck.

Hi Ravi,
I am thinking deploying these html files as a part of separate application in weblogic might be another approach. This process is like
1. Making a .war(.ear) of your html
2. Deploying the .war in weblogic through deployments as an application with an application context.
3. Referencing the files in analytics or even outside just through a url.

Such a download is usually saved in an updates or updated folder in the Firefox program/application folder.
You can delete this folder to cancel the download.
If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.

How to change the RPD file name without deploying on EM

Is there a way to change the RPD file name so it doesn't have BI0002 or BI0003 on the end of it? I can delete my BI0002 file and point the NQSConfig.ini file to my new FileName.rpd but when the BI services restart the BI0002 file reappears in the repository directory and the NQSConfig file changes to reflect this. It's like the only way you can change this is in the Enterprise Manager, but that always adds the suffix to the file.
Any suggestions?
Here's what the docs say:
When you upload a repository, it is copied to the local repository directory for each Oracle BI Server component, located at:
ORACLE_INSTANCE\bifoundation\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_obisn\repository
If you have published the repository in shared mode, then the repository is also copied to the shared network location.
After the repository is uploaded, it is given a version number suffix (for example, SampleApp_bi001.rpd). This version number is incremented each time that the repository is uploaded. To revert to a previous version, you must re-upload the specific version of the repository to use.
Note that you can delete older versions from the repository directory or shared network directory to reclaim disk space.
What does that mean? I have to use an old rpd file in order to get rid of the suffix?

It can be changed, although I do not no exactly how. You have to take a look at the MBeans which are used to deploy a new repository. The suffixed is used to insure you do not overwrite an existing RPD

This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

You can use UDML to make changes to the RPD. However it is not supported by Oracle so you will be by yourself in anything goes wrong. You can also easily see the UDML code if you copy any objects from Administration tool into Notepad. How can I update the metadata description on iBooks?

I was wondering if anyone has advice on how to help please?
I recently published my first kids book on iBooks. The description displaying on iBooks has a wrong word on it, so I wanted to change it. I tried updating the whole file from iTunes Producer, and submitted the whole package again on the 6th April, but the description has still not been updated. I looked into trying to adding a new text file by saving a ".tab" file, but haven't been able to get the iTunes Producer to open the file. According to Apple FAQ, this should change the description within 24 hours. The book itself is for sale, and there is no problems with the book.
Can anyone offer advice, or suggestions please to fix this problem,

Import qeustion. How to to update the image description

We have imported 200k images using image manager, but there was not a way to specify the image description
I thought I may be able to do it in the import manager from a source file which had fields for image name and image description, but can not find a way to do this in image manager or in the import manager as the image table is not the main table.
How can we update the description field on images?

We had same issue..We cannot see the image description in datamanager..we have created a qualiifed look up and reordered qualified table in such away, so that the qualified table is just below Image ..
Now you can import the image description via import manager and put the corresponding image in image table..
I know its digy but cant help ..waiting for 7.1 ..

The new linked smart object feature was a low-key feature but it's fundamentally changing our workflow for the better!
Quick question, is there a way to update the paths to linked smart objects or will Photoshop work it out? I can't see a links panel under WIndow or file so am not sure how you do it sorry.
I'm about to edit these files at home and want to make sure Photoshop can find the links - as well as find everything when I copy it all back to the server and work.

What I didn't mention is that I'm using PSE 5 with ACR 4.6, if its relevant. I'm thinking of updating to the next version when its out in the hope that it will run with Windows 7 64 bit or I may go to Lightroom.
I can now see that I can batch convert a whole folder of files using "process multiple files" as dj_paige suggested but that is too many at once as the settings I choose won't be relevant for all the pics in the folder.
I was hoping to batch convert say 5 or 6 similar photos at a time with the same settings. I'm not quite clear what you're suggesting but I'm hoping that its a "work round" using two stages to achieve this.
I can't see a list of open files within ACR to ensure that they are all selected as you suggest.
What does clicking Open rather than Done mean? Does this amend the original RAW file to the settings selected so that if I then "process multiple files" on the whole folder to convert from RAW to JPEG they will in fact have already been processed in smaller groups so I can convert without applying any further changes?
If so, what settings should I apply to "process multiple files" to ensure a simple conversion of file type rather than any further adjustments?
Any further help on this would be much appreciated.
