How much abuse can one Ipod take?

OK, these Video Ipods are expensive and need to be treated with respect. But I bought mine for portable music. So I would like to hear other people's experiances with how you use your Ipod.
Is it safe to take to the beach?
If you want to listen to it in your car, can you leave it in your glove compartment in both winter and summer?
Do you go jogging with it on your arm?
have you ever dropped it? What case were you using and did it survive the drop?
I'm interested in how people have used their Ipod. I dont know anyone who ownes one so i don't have anyone to compare notes with. Right now I'm so concerned about damaging my Ipod that I only use it while cooking and washing dishes. LOL
I would like to take it while out on a walk, jog, the beach, car trip to a resturant but leave it in the car.
Does anyone have any stories to share?
Mine survived 1 hour and 20 minutes in the hands of my five year old nephew. Boy was that a nice quiet visit with my sister. :o)

It's not "delicate" but it is a $400 electronic device so treat it like that.
Beach. As long as it does not get any sand, it'll be fine. Keep the greasy hands of it. You'll drop it in the sand... Leave it in a bag/purse.
Don't leave it in a hot or cold car. A car in the summer can easily get up to 120 degrees.
You can get armbands for them for walking/jogging/bike riding etc. If it's in your coat pocket/purse, it should be okay.
Right now I'm so concerned about damaging my Ipod that I only use it while cooking and washing dishes.
Hope it's in your pocket and not on the counter becuase it WILL go into the sink.

There are two answers: the official Apple answer and the "you're on your own" answer.
1 - For the official iMac max RAM, see iMac Memory specifications and upgrades
2 - For the "your're on your own" answer, everymac.com has a list of the Actual Maximum RAM you can put in every model Mac. In many cases this is more than the official maximum RAM.
After deciding how much RAM you want to put in your iMac, I suggest going to Crucial.com and use the memory advisor or system scanner to see what RAM modules are compatible with your iMac.

How much heat can an iSight take?

I am using 2 iSights as security cameras in my garage watching the outside of my house. Yesterday it was about 95 degrees outside which is a little warmer than it usually gets where I live. In the garage it was scorching hot and my iSights were hot to the touch. How much heat can they take and should I put little fans on them to cool them?

The "official" support is only for 2 GB. The evidence from people who have tried is that approximately 3GB is the actual maximum. You could either drop in a 2GB and a 1GB, although 2 2GB modules will supposedly work with part of the memory unused. The OS can only use 3 GB but I think one of the reporting mechanisms will say 4 GB.
Crucial.com only sells modules through their memory selection tool that corresponds to officially supported configurations.

The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

For disk repairs use Disk Utility. For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior; DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep. Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard. These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc. Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack. If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline. Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):

That computer accepts a 1GB module; 256MB of the installed RAM is soldered to the motherboard, for a total of 1.25GB.

If that is the case you have a hairline crack that you missed upon close inspection or actual, but rare, LCD damaged that didnt manifest an actual crack.
in which case make appt. with Apple on your display. If there IS a crack you missed at inspection or genuine LCD damage, there is no way to fix that, the display would have to be replaced.

I have not filled the iPod Classic 160 GB. I have most of my music and a few movies for traveling on that one. Before I bought it, I had a 20 GB that was always full. Now, what I do is have rock music on a shuffle that I use for biking or running. Audio Books are on an iPod Touch. The 20 GB unit is no longer used (given away) and replaced with the 160 that holds just about everything else.
The MacBook is limited by the size of the hard disk. Many people with have their entire iTunes library on an external USB or Firewire hard drive and have iTunes map to that. Remember that this is not truly a backup (if the library is only on one drive, it is not a backup, nor should the iPod/iPhone/iPad/etc. be considered a backup)
If you have the means to have another device, I would agree that splitting your music by genre on each device is the way to go. I've known people that sort their music on devices by artist, album, etc. As long as you find a way that works for you.

The max RAM is offically, 4 GB (two 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 SO-DIMM) module but, with larger modules released after that model's specs were written, you can achieve 6GB with one 2GB plus one 4GB module.
You must get the 4GB from a Mac Savvy vendor or it won't work. OWC has the larger modules that are well-tested in Macs:

How much data can be polled by XI it all depends on your server configuration.
Idealy message should not be more then 5 mb.
you can poll more then 70000 records also but conditions apply - if it contains only one column, if having 50 columns then you cant fetch even 70000 also, so all depends on the msg size not on the number of records.

I just discovered an article on DIGG about 8 GB sticks of RAM, and it got me thinking.

The actual amount of RAM depends on the specific model, since you don't mention that, it's impossible to tell.
However, I can tell you that currently the most any MacBook Pro supports is 4GB of RAM - two 2GB DIMMs.
I don't know the Digg article you're referring to, but it's highly unlikely that it's referring to laptop memory. It's likely to be full-sized DIMMs where space and power consumption are less important factors (all laptops use low-profile DIMMs which consume less power and take up less space than DIMMs used in desktop computers).
