Availabllity of repair services may vary by country, and I'm not sure if other models of iPhone also can be repaired, so call Apple Support or visit an Apple Store and ask for information. For other problems Apple at this time does not at this time repair iPhones, but will replace the entire iPhone for a flat fee. If you have AppleCare+ coverage, the cost will low; in the US it's $49. There are independent iPhone repair services that may be able to do the repair for less than Apple's out-of-warranty charge. Do a web search for "iPhone repair". Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPhone serviced by an unauthorized shop, all further warranty and support from Apple will be voided.

And those unofficial shops will void your warranty. Even if it were a tad more expensive to go the Apple route (which isn't , in this case), I would not recommend going with unauthorized repair. Besides the warranty issue, they do not usually use genuine parts and the rpair itself might cause other problems in the future....

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs unless you have AppleCare+ extended warranty. Then it would be $29. They do not fix yours.

i had my iphone4 since a year and a half and it was working perfectly fine until last week when it has started getting very hot and the draining a full battery in 2 hours without even being used. i tried to get it checked and found out that it is not battery issue and the software is the latest update. can someone tell me what to do with it as this problem is not getting sorted. i dont know how much apple charge for refurbishing the phone and in fact my warranty has been finished and i haven't got any insurance whatsoever.

Apple will not replace the screen, they will replace the whole device with exactly the same model. It is refurbished and at a minimum includes a new battery, possibly a new screen and rear shell. In the US, I believe the replacement cost is $249, but may vary depending on your model's capacity and whether it has 3G or not.

Such is extent of business i use my ipad 2 for; i really require to keep my current one as i have my business partners ipad and our iphones in sync sharing and creating valuable data. I doubt being in the UK is going to help keeping the costs down for me :(... I wish this was a bad dream - it had to be the 64gb + 3G didn't it :(

How much to charge for encoding?

I'm used to getting materials that are already pre-encoded/compressed from Final Cut Pro to a format I can use in DVD Studio Pro. I've been asked to bid on a project that would be 90-100 minutes in length that would have me do the encoding via Compressor and I'm not quite sure what to charge (as it would take hours and hours to do, I'm not sure my regular hourly rate would be appropriate, but don't want to screw myself out of $$$ either, especially since it would tie up the computer for a while).

Since it wouldn't be entirely fair to charge for the time due to equipment to some degree, I have found that if I charge an average for encoding at a certain quality for so many minutes of film that would be more fair. For instance I would charge maybe .50 a min for a high quality compressed file. The idea isn't the price's I'm giving but rather a structured way to think of how to charge the customer. You're in an area that could charge more depending on the client and the availability of your serivces for a given price. Come up with things per hour and things per minute of film for the type of service you'll be rendering.

How can Apple charge for Applecare on a product that isn't yet shipping?

I just noticed on 3/12 I got dinged $99 for Applecare on my iPad 3G+Wifi which won't ship until later this month, and I've been informed that nothing is actually shipped to me regarding Applecare - the iPad will be auto enrolled.
I also got dinged for the iPad case on 3/27 but I guess I can understand that since they've actually shipped the case. I don't like it - what good is a case without an iPad, but I understand it.
I thought you could bill for product until it ships. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I can feel your pain...but as you already pointed out AppleCare doesn't actually ship...it's an auto enroll... though I do agree it's kind of silly to charge you already...

Personally I don't buy Apple Care until at minimum 3 months after I purchase an item...within that first 90 days the Apple Care doesn't add more coverage than the normal Apple warranty... then within the first year you are covered for manuf. defects by Apple anyway...so unless you need to call and get phone support...having both at same time during that first year does't really do much for you... again after the first 90 days if you need phone support you NEED AppleCare... but if not then buying AppleCare right before you first year is over wont change your coverage options for defects that occur
