How much are 2008 iMac approximately worth?

How much do the 2008 model iMacs go for approximately?

I have a late 2006 iMac that was purchased in 2007. From what I see it started having GPU failures (lines on screen - but not in safeboot) Seeing all the common GPU failures with those models and even with newer ones, I will not be investing in a $2000 machine with Apple anymore. They are not willing to work with me even though the failure happened last year or so and we had no idea that this was a manufacturing defect. They have helped many customers and because the rep felt like he doesn't feel like helping me, they have lost me as an iMac customer.
I don't feel comfortable paying more for their products anymore. Being an owner of almost all of Apples line, I feel cheated and betrayed. We are paying more for their quality yet we get nothing in return. It's distgusting. /end rant.
I will never purchase a brand new iMac anymore. So this is the reason I'm looking for an older model..for my kids who are interested in Objective C and for educational purposes.
oh and eBay does not work well in my country because of high shipping costs which is why I wanted to ask here to see what a fair price would be. There are only 2 iMacs for sale. One is on bid for $150 + 4 days and the other is $600 / no bids.

Okay so there are a few things you can do to bring your MacBook up to speed. You may find, however, that purchasing a new computer will be more cost effective for you.
Adding RAM - this is one place you can get very good value for your money. Max out your MacBook's RAM.
Purchase and install a larger hard drive. If you've been running out of drive space or just want more, hard drives are inexpensive and easy to install.
Update your operating system - You can get Snow Leopard for $29 from Apple. When it comes out next month you can then get Lion for $29.99 from the Mac App Store. Unfortunately as of yet there is no way known to upgrade directly from Leopard to Lion.
Add an external hard drive to your system for backup. This is always a good idea to have, as data that is in only one place is vulnerable to loss if your hard drive fails.
Update all of your applications. Many can be bought online now through the Mac App Store, which has made it easy and inexpensive for applications that are available there.
    Things you cannot upgrade -
Your MacBook's processor. This is the brain of the computer and a faster one will give you a speed boost in some applications. It is part of the logic board so you can't put a new one in.
Video card - also part of the logic board.
Interfaces such as FireWire, USB, video out, audio in and out.
If you need any of these, look for a newer computer.
    Hope this helps you out.
    Best of luck.

  • Where can i found out how much my iPhone 4 is worth when trading in for iPhone5?

One of the apple geniuses mentioned that I could find out how much my iPhone 4 is worth when trading in for iPhone5 at the apple website.
I haven't been able to find any sections in the sitre that remotely offer this information. I'm hoping another genius shows up with an answer here.

Apple does have a recycling program where they will take your old device and give you and apple store gift card, not sure how much, you can check on the apple website below:
    http://www.apple.com/recycling/
i don't know where you're located, but if you want to trade in your iphone 4 at other places like att or radio shack they give a pretty good deal.

  • Do you have hindi fonts for InDesign CS4 and if so how much are they?

Do you have hindi fonts for InDesign CS4 and if so how much are they?

Adobe does offer a few Unicode fonts that support Hindi  I'd expect that you'd be asking for Devanagari fonts, though. Have you ever done any Hindi typesetting? I mean, when we typeset English we don't do it in "English fonts" but in "Latin-script fonts."
There are two main classes of Devanagari fonts - the more common, older fonts where someone took a Latin-script font, erased the characters, and replaced them with Devanagari glyphs, versus contemporary Unicode fonts. The first class are wonky, hard to use, and quite common. If you're in-country you will find lots of ways to buy those kinds of fonts. You also can use them in InDesign without needing any scripts or plugins to turn on the World-Ready Composer. I find Unicode fonts to be much easier to use, to automatically compose according to proper rules regarding behavior of glyphs - but to use them in CS4, you'd need something like World Tools or IndicPlus. I'm a World Tools user myself but if you're going to be doing only Hindi work in CS4, I'd suggest that you look at IndicPlus first.
In short - it's deeper than it looks. If you want to tell us more about what you're trying to do, we might be able to give you better advice.

  • How much area is allocated to main?

How much area is allocated to main by default when compilation starts? As far as I know, main is allocated some area in the stack but how much exactly?

    1.) Is implementation specific
2.) why in gods name do you need to know? there is a lot of other overhead for the whole jvm, runtmie libraries and so on...

  • I need a new back plate for my Macbook pro 13 , its got a dent in it , how much are they please? Thanks Steve

I need a new back plate for my Macbook pro 13 , how much are they please?

Check this site for parts and prices:
    http://www.ifixit.com/
You can always ask at the Genius Bar at your local Apple store, or inquire at an Authorized Apple Repair facility. The price usually depends on the age of your machine and the availability of the part.

  • How much are apple stores selling the old versions?

since the new versions arent out yet? havent been to the apple store yet. How much are they selling the old stock?
    in canada?
does the edu discount apply still?

I am not definite about the price, but I got mine (the older, late 2006 model) at $950 (Combo / 1.83ghz/ 512mb / 60gb) a week before the new ones came out.
Wait it for a little more and I'm sure the Apple stores would sell the old ones cheaper.

  • How Much Are For SSD cards or drives? (not sure what it's really called?)

I have a question, for my first time being a mac user and all. How much are the ssd cards/drives? I have a 4GB and 2.4 ghz macbook pro of 2010 early, it's a 13". I'm thinking about how I am going to be majoring in animation design in college and I'm worried that my laptop might LAG or slow down. (Will it? :S) I know I probably sound stupid right now and probably being laughed about with this question but it's my first mac laptop that I will taking to college class with me. Anyone can answer my question that would be great.
Two people have suggested that I return this 13" for a 15" but I just dont' have the budget for the 15" and plus the 13" is great and portable.
    What do you guys think?

How much are the ssd cards/drives?
Depends on the maker, the size and how fast their throughput is. Do a google search and compare prices
t's my first mac laptop that I will taking to college class with me.
SSDs are not exclusive to Macs. You would be asking the same questions if you were considering a windows based laptop with an SSD.
Two people have suggested that I return this 13" for a 15"
For animation, their suggestion is correct.

  • My dad has an imac G5 from 2005, and I'm wondering if we can bring it to the Apple store and replace it with one of the newer models. How much would the G5 be worth and how much money would we have to put on top of it to buy the newer model?

How much is the G5 worth? The one from 2005.

The Apple Store will offer to recycle it for free, you are better off selling it on ebay or elsewhere, I have seen decent looking ones go from $80-$250 here in Australia.
You are looking at $1000 + to get a new one

  • How much is my iMac worth

Hello, I am planning on buying a new iMac so I'm wondering how much should I sell my iMac for?
    Full Specs List
    Name: iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011)
Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5
    RAM Memory: 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 4x2GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6750M 512 MB
    Built-in Display: 21.5-inch (1920 x 1080)
    Hard Drive: 500GB SATA Disk
    Optical Drive: SuperDrive
    OS: OS X Yosemite 10.10.2
    No Apple Care Remaining
Used, excellent condition. No scratches anywhere that I've seen.
    Thank You,
    Jero Järvenpää.
Thank you for the answers I will get!

Before selling, don't forget to erase your hard drive and reinstall the original OS as any OS obtained from the app store is not transferable; its' license is tied to your Apple ID, and it would cause nothing but grief for the buyer.

  • EP-480 Ear Plugs, How much are they real

In AUS$, how much they worth?

It appears it would be in your best interest to pay full retail for a new phone as that would be cheaper over the life of the phone than paying for the amount of data you use.
To answer your questions, I have my data limit set because that is the actual amount of data I need. I had unlimited data for several years before switching to the Share Everything plan. Not once did I ever come close to even using 1 GB of data. I didn't "need" to be under 1 GB of data, I just didn't use that much data. The same can be said for the other smartphone on my account at the time. That was 2 unlimited data plans at $30 each for a combined monthly data total of normally under 1 GB. I now have 4 smartphones on my plan and our data allowance is 4 GB($70/month vs $120/month if we had 4 separate data plans). We normally use between 1.9 GB/month and 2.2 GB/month.
This amount of data which we use will give us MUCH more than calling, texting and "occasionally googling the nearest Cheesecake Factory".
Of course, everyone's needs are different and it would obviously be much cheaper for you to pay full retail for an upgrade when/if you choose to do so.

  • About how much to replace iMac Intel 20-inch motherboard?

Hello. Can anyone (in the UK) tell me about how much it would cost to replace the motherboard on a 20-inch Intel iMac? Mine is slowly dying (details below), in particular with graphics problems. Thanks.
More or less from the outset, my 20-inch iMac had an intermittent fault where occasionally it would start or wake up with major graphics problems (see http://tinyurl.com/iMacFault1). As I'd bought it from an Apple retail store, the only thing they would accept is for me to bring it back to the store (difficult, in my case) and have them examine it. I've been there before: I'd go to the trouble of bringing it back, they'd test it, it wouldn't fail, they'd say there was nothing wrong etc. They weren't interested in the photographs of the fault. So, I let it go.
Of late, it's more often suffered from a slight shimmering with video (which you can often clear by powering down and up) and/or rows of corrupted pixels in windows (see http://tinyurl.com/iMacFault2). Very recently, it's started to freeze completely.

The cost is prohibitive to the point you would be better off getting a new machine and selling the old one on eBay for parts. I don't recall the exact amount, but a new logic board for my 17" iMac was somewhere in the $650 range (~409 £). Apple should be able to quote you a price for the replacement to give you an exact idea.
If it is still under warranty and freezing consistently, go back to the store. iMacs aren't cheap to replace so you may try insisting they take a harder look at it. Best of luck!

  • HT1338 How much is a iMac 20-inch widescreen computer 2007 going for now of days?

So I am going to try to sell my iMac 20-inch widescreen computer from 2007, and I am trying to use that money to buy a MacBook Air before August 14th and I was just wondering how much I should sell it for.

As a buyer of a used computer, I value installed software at zero, since I already have the apps I want. An erase-and-install on a used computer is sensible anyway, to get a clean system.
On the other hand, I value Applecare on a used computer at at least half of the cost of the coverage, and the third year of warranty is the most valuable one!

  • I need to know how much longer my iMac will be good for

Hi Everyone... need some help if you have some time please..... Thanks in advance!
I bought this used iMac in 2010 and it's been great except that I can't upgrade anymore on it. I have snow leopard and I was told my Apple this is the last upgrade for this computer.
That worries me because my internet browsers will eventually stop working when more they upgrade and my computer is still runing on Snow Leopard.
Can anyone tell me how much longer I'll be able to keep this Mac before I have to replace it? It still works perfectly.

Thanks for responding! so helpful! I was told by apple reps I can't upgrade to Lion and you stated the same thing but then you said if I 'move to lion 10.7' I would be able to?
My firefox doesn't work very well on this computer it's really slow and doesn't load sometimes. and If I use tumblr it's even worse. I can't even scroll.
My main concern is the browser upgrades. I want to make sure this computer can still be upgraded (so I can use netflix for at least another year or 2 etc etc)
Lion is 10.7, Mountain Lion is 10.8.
You should max out your RAM, but the Firefox issue may or may not be RAM related. If you restart and open no other applications but Firefox, do you still experience problems? If you don't, then it's most likely RAM related.
It may be an Add-on responsible for the slow loading. Quit Firefox then reopen it in safe mode, by holding  down Option(alt). This will disable all Add-ons. If it appears to work better there, then you need to test by disabling each Add-on one by one to see which is the culprit.
It may also be a corrupted Profile in your Firefox folder. Option-drag the entire Firefox Folder located in your user Library>Application Support. This will make a backup, which you can restore later. You will know it's copying when you see a small circle with a plus sign inside. Don't do this if that doesn't appear. There is a more elegant way to do this, but it may be trickier to get going than what I have suggested.
Next, get a new Firefox application and install that. Doing this will create a new Firefox folder and Profile in that location. See how that one behaves. If it's better, then post back and I can tell you how to migrate things over from the old Profile. If it isn't, then just return the original Firefox folder to that location and allow it to replace the new one.

  • How much power do iMacs use when working and asleep?

As usual, whilst claiming green credentials, the information Apple gives regarding power use is minimal and vague to the point of being meaningless.
The only figures they quote are:-
    Maximum continuous use 205w  (21.5")  and  310w  (27")
What exactly does maximum continuous use mean ?
    a. When the machine is switched on but not doing anything
    b. Working at general office tasks
    c. Working flat out transcoding video etc.
Which of these is it?  Or is it all 3?
Does it use more power when performing harder tasks?
If so, what power is used under scenarios a and b?
Finally, how much power is used in sleep mode?

Apple, nor any other device, apple or otherwise, isn't going to give you every power draw for every possible scenario.  So they post what the maximum power would be under maximum load (graphics intensive, computations utilizing all the cores, etc.).  That would be useful for estimating, say, what UPS to choose for the machine.
You want various power draws under various conditions then attach a wattmeter or a KiloWatt EZ.
    Why are these details significant?
As for sleep, I found the following (reference):
