i recently read a post by someone claiming that tiger took 18.5gb on there ibook, and some one replied saying that apple claims you can install tiger in to 3gb.

I've got tiger in ok, running fine - bought family pack and have done 3 installs without problem, so that's the good news ....
I did a major reshuffle and toss-out of files before I installed - bought 80gb mobile external hard drive - and did install with 5+gb free, so after it had about 3gb free, then all of a sudden I went down to less than 1gb
I've been in a hunt for more files to throw out (a nice find were the old ipod updaters that were eating 500mb) ....
If I want to throw out most of the language files (for instance) ... where are they ? (I did search for danois and found nothing, so .... buried ?)
any other suggestions for things to throw away .... I've pretty much eliminated 90% of all things classic, for instance ....
and - do you have ideas for why space seems to disappear so fast .... I'm not doing anything special, but wham, 2gb flies away to ???

I don't know exactly, but I am aware of a similar radio streaming service that streams at 128 kbps, which therefore uses about 60 MB per hour of listening.
Most people avoid doing too much radio streaming over cellular data, preferring WiFi or a LAN connection instead.

I'd check my balance, make a call, then check the balance again. That should give a fair indication.
I'm a light user and find Tesco's SIM-only deal (500mins, 500MB, 500texts) is way more than adequate for my basic mobile needs for a tenner a month. Worth considering.

So I have a fancy old muscle car that I have put a ton of work and would like to hook up an ip camera. I want it so that when the car is parked, I can monitor and record what is going on with it. I was planning on getting an ip camera with a portable hotspot device such as the mifi. I was wondering if anyone knew how much data one would use because I would like to attach it to my account which has 4gb of data. would that be enough to run one if I am not constantly streaming the video to somewhere?

I'm planning a trip into Europe, we will of course be taking a TomTom, but in the event that I need OVI maps, could you tell me how much data AGPS uses.
O2 charge £6.00 per mb, so I don't want to come home and find a massive bill waiting for me.

Usually when I try to use it, I use about 6-15mb per fix. It doesnt use A-GPS again after getting a fix unless satellite signals fail.

In the USA you have 3 video quality options: good quality, better quality, and best quality. Here is how much bandwidth they each use:
Good quality (up to 0.3 GB per hour)
Better quality (up to 0.7 GB per hour)
Best quality (up to 1 GB per hour, or up to 2.3 GB per hour for HD)
Depending on how many movies you watch this could have a huge impact on your monthly usage...obviously your ISP wants you to watch its own movies.

I have only limited access to data, unless I'm paying big overage charges. Thereforre I want to know before hand how much data i will download with each update. No information appears to be available when you want to update your pages, numbers or keynotes. This applies to apps in MAC. Sites for information such as the App Store as suggested to read each
item that appears to be available for your existing system version...

I've been fairly aware of the limitations and bandwidth overage charges or
a reduction in available access to the internet when & if one runs over...
And there is plenty of useless stuff loaded in web pages that can waste it.
Hopefully you have a good archive to save the important download versions
(& backups) so you may be able to use them again offline, when possible.

I would use dough to make a pizza, in this case. Flour (and other ingredients) isn't compatible with your iMac innards. ; - ))
Memory pricing is one of those things that makes us want to shop around. Not me however, Crucial is a must in my case as I do not like to see money wasted in the returns and shipping department.
Friend of mine spent better than $40 in return shipping before giving up when he kept receiving the same incompatible memory, over and over. His xxxMB module would only be replaced by the listed xxxpart number.
Getting his money back was a sorry, no refunds policy, contact the vendor (pass the buck) thingie. Oh, and yes, have a nice day for shopping with us...

I want to know how much space does the iOS takes (installed) on a default iPhone 4 for all it's versions (eg. latest iOS 3, latest iOS 4 and iOS 5).
Watching the 2011 WWDC keynote on iOS 5, you will see a handful of new functionalities being added that will take the user experience even further, which is great!
But if you have minimum technical background, you know that more features means more lines of code, and this WILL take some extra space on your device. Also, iOS is an ever-changing product distributed over the web, but the iPhones have always the same hard-fixed ammount of storage space (only changes if you buy a new device).
This is what I'm looking for:
iOS 3.5.1 -> 1,2 Gb
iOS 4.3.3 -> 2,1 Gb
iOS 5.0.0 -> 2,9 Gb
** those are fictitious values, most probably not the actual ones **
Important: I'm just curious about it, I don't find this being a big issue as 16 or 32 gb of space is pretty much. Even if the OS takes 2~3 gigs out of it, there's still plenty space for everything you need on the go.
