How much data dose FaceTime use?

With FaceTime soon to be available over cellular. Dose anyone know how much data it uses per minute?

Good luck to you...
You're not on one of the "new" share data plans, because they have not taken affect yet, and only users who switch to one of these "new" plans will be able to use FaceTime on AT&T's network.
And yes, I read your whole comment...

  • How much data does facetime use over wifi? on 5gb mifi

so can any1 tell me how much or how long facetime hours/minutes will i get out of my 5gb wireless mifi (wi-fi)

A five minute FaceTime call, over 3G, will use, give or take, about 15MB's of data.

  • How much data does facetime use on my ipod 4

My ipod touch 4g wgen i go to settings it says. 7.1gb available and 6.6 gb used but mine is a 16gb and when you add it up its only 13.7  and i think it has something to do with facetime cause i call like every day and it  lasts for pike one hour and fourty one minutes  (that is the longest they usually now last 30 minutes or less ) please help??:)

FaceTime use does not use any of your storage except maybe a KB or so.
The difference you see is due to:
    - The IOS itself using storage. The is not available to the users.
    - How GB is uses and advertised. See:
How Mac OS X and iOS report storage capacity

  • Why do I have to guess how much data I might use in a month when I select a plan?

When I sign up for water service, I don't guess that I might use 1,000 gallons a month, and then pay three times the going rate for water if I take a few extra showers. I get charged for how much water I use that month.
When I sign up for electricity service, I don't guess that I might use some set number of kilowatt hours, and then pay three times the going rate if we have a heat wave and I run my air conditioner for a few extra hours.
Why do I have to guess how much data I might use, and then spend three times the going rate if I stay up watching youtube videos for a few extra nights?
It is stressful to have to constantly monitor usage, and figure out ratios of how much I've used compared to how much time is left in the billing cycle to see if I need to curb my usage. It is not a good customer experience. I would prefer that data be charged a flat rate based on actual usage, perhaps with an option to throttle speeds at certain levels to prevent cases where a minor lapse in judgment could ruin my monthly budget, like forgetting to check data usage religiously on a device meant to simplify my life.
    Thank you for your consideration.

Simple answer is Verizon is offering a block of data for usage.
Where I live the water bill states my wife and I are being charged for 30,000 gallons per quarter/half and the price is say $60 however we never use any where near that amount. I send the meter reading in and it shows the amount we use. But the hamlet we are in has a set amount of gallons. Not fair but we live with it.
For your data outside of the unlimited which is not available any more to new customers you may be a light user and never go over the 2GB for $30 dollars a month. If you do you will pay through the nose for data. If you pay for more data say 4GB and I don't have the price for it so lets say its $70 then you don't have to watch as much for overage fees. But you are paying for the data in advance so as not go over and get hit with whopping fees.
It is just the way it is.

I will try that. Thank you.  I am hoping to buy a wifi hotspot, but wondered what type of data plan I should get if I were to use it consistantly for 8 hours a day (only on saturdays and sundays).  A great tool for work & presentations!!
It will use minimal internet bandwidth unless your content is streaming from web>iPad>AppleTV.
Local network comms for content already on the iPad (eg presentations) will not generally use internet bandwidth apart from protected iTunes material that requires brief internet authorisation.

Not a problem at all - without wishing to push the point at all, the manual really is very good and worth a read ! although I must admit I have never read it all

  • How do I know how much data i'm using?

How do I know how much data i'm using on my iPad ?

Your carrier may have an app for that.
Also Settings > General > Usage > Cellular Network Data should have your stats to date which you can reset at the begininning of each charging period.

  • How much data does iMessage use to text internationally?

I have a friend in France n I live in Hawaii, and I'd like to know how much data it uses to text there cause I have a limited data plan and I don't want to go over >_<

A single iMessage uses so little data you'd have to send about a thousand just to notice. Each character in an iMessage uses about 0.1 bytes and there are over a billion bytes in a gigabyte. Also it doesnt matter where you are sending it because it goes over the internet. It will be the same where ever.
    Hope this helped!

  • How much data does forwarding use?

    Hi All,
Just curious if people know how much data forwarding uses? I'm traveling to Europe next week and need to have my phone available until I meet someone, but then I want to forward it to my home number for the rest of the trip. I know forwarding uses data so I was curious as to what the hit would be to forward it from France.
    Thanks!

  • How much data did you use on day #1?

Just to get some perspective on how much people are using....
How much have you used so far?
What have you been doing to use data? Downloading apps, surfing the 'net, YouTube, hotspot, facetime, etc...
I've used approximately 1.2mb: 360kb sent, 917kb received. I pre-loaded my apps in iTunes, so this was mostly web surfing & using apps. This was since about noon yesterday.

I do use Pandora a ton on my iPad with wifi so I see what you mean when using it on 3G... I guess you have a point... Certain Apps will drain data... Just maybe the everyday internet browser consumer would be ok though
a lot of people would be ok. the problem that the carriers run in to are the average user that doesn't even know how to check the data usage. they have their email, facebook, weather, etc, etc constantly syncing and then download a movie or something....and before they know it they are at 3 gigs and storm into the store, irate, when they see their overage fees....lol

  • How much data does AirPlay use?

Let's say one 90 min. movie streaming from my Mac to atv2. Any ideas aprox. How much Internet data that uses?

You said internet data and the Apple TV doesn't use the internet when streaming from your mac ***. (The internet is the other side of your router).
Additionally I assumed the question was related to cost or caps on data usage by your ISP, since any data you stream on your own local network doesn't cost anything (because it doesn't use the internet) it is somewhat irrelevant, although you may well stream 2-3 GB data per movie over your local network.
*** If you stream purchased content from your own iTunes library on your mac, the Apple TV may well connect to Apple to verify authorisation, but this an insignificant amount of data and likely measured in a few KB. (1,000,000 KB = 1 GB)

  • 5.6 megabyte App size and how much data will I use if I download it???

    Hi!
I want to download a 5.6 megabyte app but I have no wifi and my PC died so all I have is my 3G service at the moment. I really need to know how much of my data will be used if I download this app. It is only available today(for 24 hrs and will be gone by morning.)and I really need a reply soon. I have the 2 gig plan. I have used so far, 1066.7 of 2 gigs. I have 9 days left before the new cycle begins, so I need to make sure I can still surf the web on top of getting this app for the next 8 days. I don't want to get any overages. Thank you very much for any info anyone can give me. I am using an iPhone 4s.

That is correct. As long as both devices are signed into the same Kindle account, you would be able to use the app to read the books without paying again. There is a limit to how many devices you can have a book on at any one given time, though. Normally it is 5 devices. If you want it on another device and already have it on 5 devices, simply delete it from one of the other devices and you would then be able to download it to the new device.
For example, I have a Kindle account I share with my wife, daughter and my mother and father in-law. We have maybe 200-300 books in our Kindle account. Most new books we purchase can be read by all 5 of us at the same time on 5 different devices. We actually have 8 or 9 devices on the account, but are limited to having a book on only 5 devices at a time. If you have multiple people reading the same book, it is best to turn off automatic syncing to the furthest read point since different people would have read at different rates.
As to your iOS question. In our Kindle account we have old Kindles active, we have a Kindle PaperWhite active, we have iPads active, iPhones active, android tablets active and android smartphones active. You can have androids, iOS products AND actual Kindles active on the same account.

  • How much data does skype use?

I think the question was intended to seek the info related to a call made from a laptop using a MOBILE dongle. So that part is still unsolved. I'm not sure if the data usage varies for different devices. I too am eager to know the data usage for a laptop to laptop vedio call.

As long as you have an unlimited data plan, you shouldn’t incur any extra data charges for using Skype on your mobile phone. If your phone has a data limit, then please speak to your mobile operator for full details.Using Skype’s functionality, such as making or receiving calls or sending or receiving instant messages, will use more data than simply signing in and leaving the application idle. If your phone has video calling capability, video calls use more data than regular voice calls. To prevent Skype from using any of your data allowance, simply set your status to Offline. Here are examples of some typical Skype data usage:Skype-to-Skype: 50kbps or around 3MB for one minute of callingCalls to landlines or mobile numbers: 6-20 kbps or around 1MB for one minute of callingVideo calls between two mobile devices: 500kbpsVideo calls between a mobile device and a computer: 600kbpsHaving a large number of contacts on your Skype account also increases the data usage, as the application has to update more contact information, such as statuses, profiles and mood messages. If you would like to prevent this, you can create a new mobile account and only add your favourite contacts.
