How much does it cost to have a notebook look at

I need to take my Mac to a local store to have it looked at, and was wondering what, if any, costs will be associated with them just looking at it?
I know the issue is that it will not turn on, when the power button is pressed a green light flashes on the side, but that is it.
I look at the charger(power cable) and the charger port on the laptop itself, and both connectors looks brownish/black like it short-circuited part of the connector.
It use to charge the battery, then the charger kept the green light on(which indicated the battery was fully charged) when indeed it was not.
Anyways, I just need to get an estimate on how much repairs will be, Idk if this can be price in this post/topic I am writing, or if I would need to actually take it(which I am thinking of doing, but if it costs to have it looked at, then it would have to wait til I get paid, and of course I need to know how much to save back).

And then will not boot up...so then I have to do a restore and rebuild hard drive from a past saved time machine version. Works for a little bit...then the floating beachball comes more and more...until it will not boot up again. So then I restore from a previous time machine saved version....and again it works for a day or so ... until it happens again. Now it's happening faster and faster...so I think my hard drive is dying.

Apple will not replace the plastic on the lid. They only replace complete components, which means they would replace the entire screen assembly. Probably bout a $500 repair.

Ever since I spilled water on my trackpad, the cursor has been going crazy. Most of the time it's either dragging the screen, clicking randomly, or moving the cursor on its own. Occasionally (although lately this has not been the case) it works perfectly fine. I was reading a few similar posts, and apparently I was supposed to bring this to the Genuis Bar... although, it appears that the only damage is to the trackpad, everything else operates normally.
If Apple can repair this, what price range am I looking at? My warranty expired a while ago.
Also should I not be using my laptop? (I'm currently using it right now )

It is definitely fixable, but the trackpad is part of an assembly that includes most of the Mac. Also, Apple is going to guarantee the repair so they are going to replace anything that could have possibly been affected by liquid damage including the logic board. This means practically everything is likely to require replacement, with the possible exception of the display.
I'm just telling you what to expect, since that is what you asked, even though I know you won't like the answer. There is no way to be certain of the cost until you ask Apple. Perhaps you will be pleasantly surprised.
Warranty would not have helped by the way - liquid damage is not covered.

The answer to my question is yes -- it's do-able. The card is 28 dollars and they will waive the installation charge at the store I called.
I have installed stuff on various Macs for 20-some years, but this is one of those things that looks like a royal pain if you don't have the exact tools and a grounded bench, etc.
So now it's just waiting for the part to come in and taking my box to the store some evening for a quick installation.

I think it's just a little over $200 if you don't have an older version to upgrade. Around $100 if you do.

Please note due to your age and lack of credit history there may be a $400 security deposit, the cost of the plan you are choosing so that can be any where between $75-$120 and up.
Then there is an activation fee of $35 plus taxes and surcharges.
If you get service before Verizon sets up your bill closing date that may incur partial service cost as well as the month in advance.
So I would walk in for service expecting at least $600-$800 and after that the price will be stable. Barring any data overage charges.
This amount will not be the same for prepay.
