How much does memory REALLY help?

I bought my MBP with the 1GB chip pre-installed. I just ordered the other day another 1GB chip from Crucial as I usually had 2GB installed on my WIndows machines. After taking a look in the Activity Monitor at the memory usage, I noticed that rarely, if ever, is all of the RAM used up. There is always a sizable chunk left, around 300-500MB. As of right now, I have Safari Mail and iChat open, editing photos in Photoshop, and burning a 1 hour DVD on iMovie. There is at the moment, also 340MB of free RAM.
So right there, in your example, if you hadn't installed that extra 1GB of RAM, you would be swapping 684MB of data to the disk that's now being handled by RAM.
You want some RAM to be free. That allows doing one more thing without suddenly finding yourself swapping things to disk.
I checked Activity Monitor after reading your post and had similar numbers. I was at that time using Dreamweaver, Safari, Mail, Adium, BBEdit, my timeclock software, and good old AppleWorks 6. I had about 500MB of RAM free according to Activity Monitor. To see what would happen, I launched Photoshop and opened two files I've been working on: one very complex layered PSD file and a flat file that has a Quick Mask I'm editing. Activity Monitor immediately changed to show me 126MB free RAM.
So you can see that it depends on how many apps you have open and what you're doing in them. If you work with programs like Dreamweaver and Photoshop a lot and work with large or complex files, more RAM is definitely a plus. If you work with a lot of programs, more RAM is certainly a plus. And having some not in use means you're not already maxed out - that's a good thing.
If you never come close to using all of your RAM, perhaps you really do have more than you need. But in your own example you're utilizing the additional RAM you installed - that's good. You needed it.

Iphone 6 plus screen crack, how much does it cost.?

Had iPhone 3,4 and 5 and never had protective case. over the years phones fell several times. they even fell down on road, except for small dings on the edges they never had cracked screens.
6 plus screen cracked after falling less than 3 feet (from back pocket) on to wood floor, even with protective case (bought case so that it won't slip from the hand, phone being so slippery).
I think, Quality of apple hardware and software went down drastically with latest round of refresh.
iOS 8 has lot of issues.
usually hardware is high quality but seems like that is not the case anymore.
Even worse part of the experience is:
    had online chat with apple support person and (Julian) he/she mentioned he/she will give me a deal for $129, fixing the screen.
    After a quick google search, seems like list price of fixing the screen is in fact $129, I don't think there is any deal (see the question).

Whole unit replacement of an iPhone 6 Plus is $329 USD + tax.
Screen replacement only is $129 USD + tax.
Either you misunderstood, or they were simply trying to explain how a screen replacement is less expensive than whole unit replacement.
Why do you care if it's a 'deal' or just the normal price? Are you wanting to be treated special and different from other Apple customers?

I agree with Kappy that your issue is with hard drive space, not RAM (memory), but if you should decide you need more RAM as well you can purchase it at a reasonable price from Other World Computing or Crucial.
For the issue of your startup disk being full the first thing to try is to empty your Trash. Lots of people put items in the Trash but fail to empty it, a necessary step for reclaiming that hard drive space.
If emptying the Trash still does not leave you with sufficient disk space, you can either get a new larger internal hard drive and move all of the contents of the current drive to it, or you can purchase a compatible external hard drive and move some of the contents of your internal drive to it.
Good candidates for things that can be moved would be your iPhoto library and your iTunes library, since both audio files and picture and video files tend to take up a lot of space. If you want instructions on how to do either of those, post back and we'll keep helping you.

Once you open System Profiler there should be a line called "memory" which is the RAM (vs. hard drive size which is not what is called memory), e.g., Memory: 1.5 GB
For video click on the line Graphics/Displays and look at the chipset line, e.g., Chipset Model: GeForce2 TwinView
Kappy's instructions are handy for checking the original configuration of your computer, but that may have been changed at some time, especially if you bought it secondhand.

SEEBURGER adapter - How much does it help?

We have a PI box just installed and we'll be implementing a few EDI transactions with some business partners.
I was told that SEEBURGER is the preferred EDI adapter for EDI transmissions from PI (XI).
1 - How much does SEEBURGER help the development of PI EDI interfaces? Is there a way to estimate on how much work is saved using it instead of relying on standard? (lets say 10, 20 or 30%)?
2 - I am considering here 2 options (Use SEEBURGER or not). Is there a better alternative?

For EDI implementation there are ways by which u can implement with XI
1) Using third party seeburger adapter.
2) Conversion agent
3) Writing module.
Preferred one is seeburger.
1) It has std XSD available which we just need to import into External definition
2) It has std mappings for all the message type which converts EDI to XML and XML to EDI format.
3) Provides different adaters
4) BIC tool
5) Many adapter modules.
Seeburger adapters like OFTPS,AS2,X400 are used for B2B scenario where the file is coming through WAn network or mailbox. As XI dont have capability to convert the EDIFACT format file to XML the same work will be done by seeburger adapters.
The SEEBURGER Business Integration Converter (BIC) is an any-to-any format converter, used to translate EDI data and legacy data formats into XML and vice versa. It can also be used for complex, high performance XML-to-XML mappings or to interface to existing JDBC data sources.
Supported EDI formats include:

XML Schema
XML DTD
CSV
Delimited Data
positional data
SWIFT
EANCOM
and many more.
See for converting the EDI XML to EDI and XML-EDI you need to have a seeburger mapping program at the adapter module which does the conversion. For this module you need a BIC tool of seeburger which provides the different module program for EDI to XML and XML-EDI. This program needs to be deployed on XI and through adapter it has to be called for conversion.
It provides std mapping program which does the conversion of EDI to XML and XML to EDI which need to used in XI comm channel module tab.

Oh yes, I have done that all ready, even tried to do the safe mode. I was able to get it to work once, since January 22th, however it involved the changing security permissions and even though Adobe was working well, Windows quit working well. How much does Premiere Pro and After Effects rely on the hard drive it's installed on?

This may be a really dumb question, but how much does Premiere Pro and After Effects rely on the hard drive it's installed on if all your video files, assets, disk cache, etc are on different drives than the one the program itself is installed on?
The reason I am asking is that I currently have a "relatively" slow Sata II SSD for my C drive that has just my OS (windows 7 64bit) and programs (adobe editing programs, no games) installed on it and nothing else. All of the files used in my projects are saved on either a very fast Sata III SSD or a slower HDD depending on what the files are. For example, disk cache on the Sata III, stills on the HDD.
Being cyber monday I have the opportunity to buy another very fast Sata III SSD to replace my current Sata II SSD C Drive (just OS and programs). Both synthetic and real world benchmarks show a near double in performance. I just want to know if anyone thinks the upgrade is even worth it because for all I know there won't be any increase in performance since no videos, still, cach, etc will be stored on the C Drive.
The alternative is to get a second monitor because I currently only use one 21" monitor.
I suppose another alternative would be to not buy anything on the cyber monday deals and just save money for something else.
Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Alex! I think you are right about not being able to notice the difference between the SSDs. I ended up finding a deal to get about $80 off a great monitor that I've been looking at for a while and decided to pull the trigger on it. I thought about it and realized that there have already been a bunch of times where I want to watch a tutorial on youtube and follow allong in AE or PrePro, but have to keep switching windows. I also frequently want to have my video preview on a separate monitor so I can have a taller timeline window. This monitor will help a lot with that. Thanks again for your help!

You should updated to Firefox 28, Firefox updates don't take any new space they just replace the existing files.
There are some things you can do to clean up your hard drive to free up space however, http://arstechnica.com/civis/viewtopic.php?p=21178060 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956324, also uninstall programs you don't use anymore and delete files you don't need anymore.
You should also start saving up for a new machine, Windows XP is being dropped from support by Microsoft in a few days, which means it will no longer be safe to use on the internet.
