How much does upgrading my macbook pro cost?

I got a '13-inch dual core Intel core i5' macbook pro as a gift, and I haven't opened the box yet. I need to upgrade it to a '2.2GHz quad-core  Intel Core i7'. Is it possible? How much will it cost?

Let us be fair.
A bunch of arrogant upstarts:
Crossed the ocean in 60 ft ships
Begged mother England for help surviving even the first winters
Accepted the British army's help in fighting French and Indian War
Protested taxes, but refused to send our legally allowed representative to Parliament
Broke away
We do not have *that* much room to complain.
Sorry ... I am a student of history, even if I miss the complete picture sometimes.

  • How much does upgrading my macbook aluminum unibody 2008 from 4gb of ram to 8gb of ram cost?

Hello i would like to know if anyone has any experience of upgrading from 4gb of ram to 8gb on the aluminum macbook and how much would it cost at apple stores?

Check out OWC and DataMem, but quite frankly it doesn't make a lot of difference if you look for a cheap price. If the product carries a lifetime manufacturer's guaranty and the vendor provides a liberal return policy shop with your pocketbook. Be sure you get memory that meets the specs required for your computer. There's no advantage to buying a brand name.

I just bought a Ipad Air and realized than my MacPro does not support Icloud.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Upgrading to Mountain Lion or Mavericks
To upgrade to Mountain Lion or Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion or Mavericks (Free) from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

how do I upgrade my Macbook pro to OS 10.7

You need to buy 10.7 Lion.. it costs you 29.99 . But, 10.8 Mountain Lion is releasing in this month. It costs you 19.99.
Apple has noted that users can upgrade to 10.8 directly from 10.6.x. So, I would suggest you to wait till 10.8 is released and buy it for 19.99 and do and upgrade

  • How much to replace broken macbook pro screen??

how much to replace broken macbook pro screen??

    Few thoughts:
There is a minuscule possibility that you can successfully convince the Genius that the damage was not due to abuse or mishandling. And if it is still under warranty, a new free screen will be yours. Don't get your hopes up too high, though...
If a Retina, the cost will be so high that maybe selling it for parts and getting a new one might be a better idea.
Same may apply if it is very old. Not cause the screen costs arm+leg, but because you will be sinking lots of cash onto a sinking ship.
If handy with tools, can explore PowerBookMedic.com or IFixIt.com for parts prices and howto.

  • Does any know how much and where replace MacBook Pro batteries in ireland

Thinking of purchasing a MacBook Pro or MBPr,
Would like to know about apple's after sales, concerning battery replacement and cost for the
    13inch in Ireland.

If you have any problem during the first year of warranty with the battery, Apple will replace it for free at any Apple Store or reseller. This also applies if you buy AppleCare to extend the warranty.
However, note that all batteries get damaged with the time, because their capacity decreases with the time. Because of this, Apple says that new Macs' batteries should have the 80% of their original capacity after 1000 cycles. If your battery gets its capacity decreased quickly, it can be replaced for free if it's in warranty.
Respecting to battery replacements out of warranty, Apple doesn't provide the cost for Ireland, as it's determined by resellers, but in the USA, a battery replacement for a 13-inch MacBook Pro costs $129. In the case of the MacBook Pro with Retina display, $199

  • How would you upgrade my MacBook Pro 15" to maximize performance?  No dollar limit.

I love my MCB, but am not technical.
Spend my money, theoretically -- If you had an unlimited budget to upgrade this system to make it fast and more efficient, what would you buy or do to it?
I'm deciding if I should scrap it and get a new MacBook Pro 13" instead.  I like my MCB 15", but it seems to be getting hung up alot with the spinning rainbow, everyday apps freezing or crashing, and just slow when I have multiple windows open in Safari and Firefox at same time.  I realize that the sites I browse to are more graphic intensive than they were when I got the MCB in 2008, but I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to spend some $$$ to upgrade whatever I can and save my pennies for a newer Mac in a year or two.  Safari and Mail crash or get hung a lot, Photo Booth folder is mysteriously empty,
So should I expect to be able to get substantial performance improvement (speed, multi-tasking) if I upgrade whatever is upgradable?
I surf using multiple browsers and open many tabs and mail with numerous accounts and magicjack, ocassionally use iweb, pages, text, calendar, low intensity games.
Thanks for any advice and recommendations and thoughts.  I'd probably get the Genius Bar to install upgrades.

Also -- it had a couple of soft drops to floor and one medium intensity drop, always on carpet.  so the case (not unibody) is dented on the sides with ports.  All "seem" to work fine except right side USB; looks pushed in and angled, and the plastic trim that fills in space connecting flat top of typing surface to bottom cover has a 4" piece cracked off (kind of looks like where grout would go).  Devices work but if you move the wire it's power filckers off and on.  Have never used firewire or thunderbolt ports on this.
I would like more USB port options (maybe a high grade extendor???) for Logitech laptop cooler, external HD, VOIP device, wired mouse, wired keyboard (I prefer wired).

    Hello Neville,
Thanks for looking in to this and alerting me.  I don't know how to interpret all the data in the descriptions of the USBs in your post (or mine, for that matter) Which descriptive line/codes show a USB 1.0 and a USB 2.0.  I would like to understand how to read that.
    Here's how I determined both are 2.0.
    1.  I checked my serial number at this Apple link and confirmed it is MacBook Pro 15" Early Version.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4132
    2.  Then I looked up the technical specifications at this Apple support link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP4
    3. .Then I double-checked and looked up tech specs at this EveryMac link:
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core-2-duo-2 .4-15-santa-rosa-specs.html
Both links say two USB 2.0 ports.  I just took it for granted that they are both correct.
    Much appreciation for your help.

There's a crack in my DSL router and I can't get on the internet.  I think the DSL router is broken.  Where do I buy a new Verizon router and how much does it cost?

Just call and ask for a new one. If your service is out Verizon will usually ship a new one as a part of the service.

  • How much use can a MacBook pro take?

    Hi
I just received my new MacBook pro 2.4ghz, and it's extremely fast. I have noticed that it gets hot when playing games, or when doing a lot at once. I was just worried, since I don't want to abuse my machine, whether I could keep the computer on for most of the day. I was wondering because, unlike a desktop with many big fans, i was worried whether anything bad could happen by leaving the computer on too long?
    thanks for any replies!

i think it's silly how you have to buy a warranty from apple at all. you should get a warranty for atleast a year. there are people like me that save up all summer just to buy a laptop but after all the estimated costs find out that we can't even buy a crappy mouse to go with it or applecare whatever it is called.
anyhow, i have dreamweaver, text pad, messenger, firefox, terminal, photoshop cs3, diablo ii, i tunes, i chat, mail, opera, internet explorer and safari all open right now. no lag whatsoever. i am assuming it can take a lot.

Click on Pictures in the Finder’s sidebar, select the iPhoto library, and choose Get Info from the File menu. If you’re using multiple libraries, you’ll need to do this on each one.

  • How much memory can my macbook pro handle?

I have a mid 2012 macbook pro 15" i7 quad core 2.3 ghz with factory 4gb of memory. Just curious how much more memory I can install in my mac? Apple says 8 GB but others say 16 GB. Any thoughts?

Apple has recommended 8gB total because 4gB chips were readily available during the development phase of the MacBook Pro. They do not re-test the capabilities when newer, higher capacity chips become available. Outside companies and RAM suppliers test the units with higher RAM capacities, thus the confusing total RAM capabilities.
