How much memory to leave free on iPod Touch?

I have an 8GB iPod Touch (not sure which generation).
For the first time ever I filled it up completely with apps and mp3s and now nothing runs. I read about it and I'm assuming it either got something corrupted while syncing or I didn't leave enough room for the iPod to process things while running.
I can play like 1 or 2 songs and then it cuts out and goes back to menu.
I try to load any apps and it stops and goes right back to menu.
I'm assuming it's too full based on what I loaded, so I'm curious as to how many MB of space you are supposed to leave open to allow it to run.
I've tried to reset it and that did not work.

You don't need to leave anything free unless you want to add emails or pictures or something.
Restore the iPod.

  • How much usable space will an 8GB iPod touch 4th Generation have running the latest version of iOS6

I am buying an 8GB iPod touch 4th Generation off a friend, and I am wondering, once I upgrade it to the highest possible version of iOS 6, how much space will I actually have to use for music etc?
    Much appreciated!

If I recall about 6.3 or 6.4 GB. Not much more than previous versions.

  • How much space does the 4th gen iPod touch 8GB actually have?

I'm considering buying the new 4th gen iPod touch but am not sure whether to get 8GB or 32GB (wish they had 16GB). My 2nd gen iPod is 8GB, but only has 6.8GB available according to the about tab. I'm down to about 500MB, and am about to import 1GB of music. I'll pick and choose for now (70% I don't listen to anyways). But does anyone know how much available space there actually is for the new 4th gen iPod touch 8GB (I know 32GB is plenty big )?
If it's not worth it, I won't buy it, but mine is having a few problems and I would like a new one that I know is fine instead of refurbished w/ the battery needing replaced (and a camera would be nice).

I do use it a lot for games...they tend to be larger files. My songs are whatever my dad buys and whatever I buy. Once I import this big batch of songs I will be at 700 songs and then will only add more when Dad or I buy them. I make a lot of money for a high schooler but my mom doesn't like how much I spend on iTunes (she's not into music the way I am). I don't want to have to pick and choose on which apps I have on my iPod. Songs, I can pick and choose if necessary. I just hate running low on available space.

  • How much is a 2nd gen 8gb iPod touch going for?

I am looking to sell it but I am having a hard time finding accurate pricings for it. Everything works fine with it and it has no scratches.

Just Google. look at eBay, Crig's list. The bottom line is not much since it only go to iOS 4.2.1

  • How much memory do lyrics take up on ur ipod?

    hi everyone.
well the heading says it.. how much memory do lyrics take up?coz i was reading this article and it explained how to put lyrics into ur ipod.but i mean its like pictures i guess so it should have memory but how much?? just wondering and thanks in advance

Lyrics are just text files, so I doubt they take up much space. I have both lyrics and album covers on mine, and no storage problem. In fact, I've also got the full text files of "Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" and "Journey to the Center of the Earth" on mine. Sherlock only took about 500k for the WHOLE BOOK.
So don't worry about running out of space for lyrics...

  • "How can I find how much memory of JCOP card is free ?"

    Hi every one,
I use JCOP smart card and I would like to know how much memory is free ,is there any command to display free or used memory?if any one knows the answer of my question please inform me.
    yours sincerely,
    Orchid.

In JC 2.2.1 you should use the JCSystem.getAvailableMemory(byte memoryType) method. The response is a short --> info about a max. of 32k free memory.
eefree applet is a relict from the JC 2.1 specification. There was no API defined. If you still want to use it, just select this applet or send any APDU to the applet, and it will return a short (bytes of free memory). Be aware that the applet will allocate of up to 32k bytes. Only way to free the memory is to delete the eefree instance.

  • How much memory should be kept free in a 16gb iphone4s

    Dear All,
how much memory should be kept free in a 16gb iphone4s? Or needn't worry about it at all?

How should we know? It depends on how much memory you will need in the future and how many apps, songs, photos you desire to keep on your iPhone.

  • How much memory do I need for iPhone?

Before I purchase an iPhone 4s I would like to know how much memory I might need.  I will have some songs though currently I use only about 2GB on old iPod.  I will no doubt have some pictures and perhaps a video and, of course, some apps though I really don't know how many. I tentatively planned to buy 16GB.  My daughter is shooting for 32GB.  Suggestions and guidelines? Thanks

Hi, from what you have said above, the 16GB iPhone 4S seemsmore than enough space for a user with the outlined above, bearing in mind youdo not necessarily get 16GB, as there is the operating system and otherprogrammes that use memory, for example I have a 64GB iPhone 4S and it comeswith 57.42 GB or storage.
If you purchase a 16GB and you do seem to be running out ofspace, you can always back up your data to a computer and it can be deletedfrom your phone - meaning you have more space. If you are worried about havingthis problem 32GB will probably be the best option and will be more thanenough.
Hope this helps, any further questions feel free to ask, andI will try to answer them.

  • My mac is runnug out of disk space. Do /i need to by external drives?  how much memory should i get

My imac is running out of disk space. I download a lot of media from itunes. The HD movies and TV shows use so  much space. Should I switch to the cloud, clean up my memory or buy an external memory drive? If i get an external drive how much memory is suggesyed? 1TB, 2TB or more?

Buy an external hard drive on which to save your media. The drive should be large enough to handle your entire iTunes Library plus how much you would anticipate adding to the library over the next few years. Then backup your existing library to the external drive: iTunes- Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive.
After you have backed up the library to the external drive you can configure iTunes to use the library on the external drive in iTunes > Preferences > Advanced. Change the path to the external drive. Once you do that quit and relaunch iTunes. It should now be using the library on the external drive. Now you can delete the library on the internal hard drive to free up the space.

  • How much memory/space are Mac Apps Taking?

I know this is probably a very simple question for you experts but as a newbie, I dont know how to figure it out.  Im trying to find out how much hard drive space (and maybe memory?) the apps I have downloaded from the Mac App Store are taking up?  Where would I find this?  Ive looked in the Finder but couldnt find what I was looking for?  Does the Activity Moniitor or something else break it down to just the Mac Apps?
Also do you know if Time Machine saves your organizational Launchpad Folders when you back up your machine?  Just was curious if you had to switch macs or something, if the folders would all come back up or if  its best to keep a list of what apps you have in what folders.
I also was wondering if anyone else has had a problem of your Launchpad Folders and individual apps within folders getting out of order when you have to restart your system.  Since I dont yet have an iphone and apps were new to me, I got a little crazy in downloading a bunch of free apps and games (many of which I think Im going to start deleting because I dont really use them)...but Ive organized them in all in alphabetical order - Ive got folders in Alphabetical Order as well as the apps within folders in alphabetical order.  Its strange becuase whenever my system gets restarted, several of the folders and apps get mixed up.  Ive been working with Apple techs on this for weeks but just curious if anyone else has had a similar problem.  The tech told me most people dont keep it as well organized as I do.
    Thanks.

    You can do this:

To find out how much hard drive space (or how large the App is), Right-Click on the App in your Applications folder and choose Get Info. This will show you xx MBs on Disk (hard drive). To see how much memory the App is using, check Activity Monitor while the App is running. It will be on the list of all processes running.
But you can also click the  (apple) in the upper left hand corner of the screen and select about this mac>more infor>storage
