How much RAM will Ipad Air have?

How much RAM will Ipad Air have and will it be sufficent?

Its just apple tend to give their devices the minimum RAM they can as a sort of a limiting factor, ive had my Ipod touch 4 for 3 years now and its virtually useless now because of the lack of RAM they put in them and i dont want to be paying over 600 pound for something thats not going to run good apps after two years because theres not enough RAM.
Well, any mobile computing device you buy is technically obsolete within a year or less of being released - for any company's products that's true.  And with all of these all-solid state devices, you cannot update the RAM or the storage, so they basically remain useable and supported as long as they do - there really is nothing you can do to avoid that sort of situation.  Smart phones and tablets are evovling at an almost frenetic pace, so nothing in that arena is going to be compatible with the operating systems and apps of newer future devices for very long.
You can maintain your own device's usability for longer by making sure to keep backups of apps & versions of apps that you know do run on your device so you will not be left behind if an App store update drops support for your device and removes the older app version.
And as far as iOS devices, I don't agree that Apple only installs the minimum RAM.  The amount of RAM is going to be based on a number of factors - the capability of the mobile cpu being used, the footprint of iOS and the built in functions, the typical RAM usage of known iOS 3rd party apps, the size of battery(s) available to fit in the space available, the added cost of additional RAM and any number of additional parameters.  In a device like a tablet or smart phone, every single component that goes into them involves some trade off or compromise.

  • How much RAM will I need?

Considering buying a Macbook Pro, but I wanted to ask around and find out approximatly how much RAM I would need so that I dont get a model thats too powerful or too weak for my usage. I was considering 4 Gbs but im not sure if thats enough.
What im mainly planning to do on the Macbook is:
    internet browsing (chrome, safari etc)
    Mail app
Word processing software like Microsoft word
    Eclipse (java programming)
    skype
    utorrent
Say I have all these programs running at the same time, how much RAM will I need to have?

Oh also, I just remembered wanting to ask this, have you ever tried downloading an OS update for a macbook and apple wont let you because you have outdated technology? Like trying to download ios 7 on an iphone 3G for example.
I've had that exact problem - someone gave me what was, supposedly, an iPhone 4s but turned out to be a 3Gs. Couldn't update to iOS 7.x so it just sits on my desk right now.
And when I had my MacBook Pro (1,1 2006 model) I couldn't upgrade to Lion - was 'stuck with' Snow Leopard.
O'd technology that no longer plays nice with new OS's? Time to get a new machine.

  • How much ram will fit in a T41

    Hi Folks,
How much ram will fit in a T41.  I have two 512M sticks but would like to replace with two 2G.  Will that work?
    Thanks

"Properly set" is mostly a software issue in my book: make sure that you remove all the unwanted bloat from the OS that you're running...
Now, only you know what applications you need or not, but I'll tell you how I have my daughter's T41 (2373-4GU) set up, just as an idea:
    a) XP Pro runs in the "classic" mode, with all the "eye candy" disabled .
    b) AVG Free AntiVirus has replaced Norton
    c) Automatic updates have been disabled. I choose which ones to install, and when.
    d) I have installed "SpeedSwitch XP" application to optimize CPU speeds depending on the load.
Once again, my word is not from any type of holy book...
On the hardware side, this machine is stock apart from being upgraded to 1Gb RAM and 60Gb/7200rpm HDD. It will never run Vista properly, and it won't ever handle serious games, but will do most anything else that an average user requires IMO.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    George

  • How much RAM does verizon internet have dedicated?

Using GT704WG hard wired to Gateway 3 Ghz 2048 MB DDR2. I-MAC wireless in another room. Verizon is ISP. I have 1300 MB free RAM after I log on. Less as I surf. (win xp sp 3).
I wouldn't normally think of Ram as an issue when they only used, to put 512 mb in these things and they ran alot faster.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

How much RAM you are utilizing has nothing to do with your ISP. It has to do with your computer and the software you have running. If your browser is using too much memory, then you need to troubleshoot your browser.

  • How much faster will ipad 4 charge with new charger

Has anyone seen a number that tells us how much faster the new ipad 4 will charge?
Can anyone guess how much faster the ipad 3 would charge with the new charger brick?
I can't even find estimates in articles on the web... Maybe we won't know till some of them ship?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Thanks... That's pretty disappointing - 20% more power and only 5-7% improvement in speed.
I'm sure hoping the ipad 4 does better than that.
    Cheers,
    Tom

  • I have a macbook pro 2007 1,1. How much ram will it support?

Anyone able to recommend how much and what type of RAM i will need for my 2007 macbook pro 1,1. 1.83 Ghz processor speed?

No, the model 1,1 1.83Ghz Core Duo can only use 2gb of RAM.

These are good online stores for Mac compatible RAM
OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/MacBook/DDR2/ - They offer Mac tested RAM at very good prices.
Crucial Memory http://www.crucial.com/ - good place to buy RAM from all over the world. They also have an excellent memory selector that allows you to choose memory based on your computer's model

  • How much RAM will be recognized on my Macbook 5,2?

    hey guys,
just wondering... i have a Macbook (5,2) with 2GB of 667Mhz RAM currently installed (factory). I was wondering how much the maximum amount of RAM i can install is, and also how much my computer will recognise as i am going to upgrade to 4GB. I was also wondering whether i can only install 667Mhz RAM on it, when the bus speed is 1.07Ghz ?
    Specs:
    Model Name: MacBook
    Model Identifier: MacBook5,2
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 3 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 1.07 GHz

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
officially according to Apple the max RAM is 4GB.
However according to this http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/stats/macbook-core-2-duo-2.0-white -13-early-2009-nvidia-specs.html and OWC up to 6GB RAM is possible.
Might be a limitaion of the used logic board / chipset that limits the RAM speed to 667MHz.

This late 08 MacBook came with 2GB of 1067 MHz DDR3 RAM.  I want to upgrade to either 4GB or 8GB of RAM.  How do I determine which level it will accept?  Also, would you buy new name brand RAM from Amazon.com?  Thank you in advance for your help.

    FranceHopper,
Thank you for your insight.  I had planned on just getting 4GB but your comment regarding using the system longer and being able to keep up with software advances is extremely relevant.  While this "old" MB is nearing three years of age, I do not plan on retiring it any time soon.  8GB of RAM will allow me to use this machine until the hardware is no longer supported by the software, I decide to get a new MB Air at some point down the road or I experience a catastrophic failure.  Thank you for your help!

  • How much RAM does the iPad2 have?

I looked at the tech specs and other documentation I could find, however I don't see anything that states the amount of RAM the iPad2 will have. There didn't seem to be any mention of that in the Apple presentation either. Does anyone know where I could find this information?

    RAM is not irrelevant.
If you had used an iPad at all you could not have failed to notice how Safari frequently needs to re-load web-pages when switching between them, as they are unloaded when the iPad runs short of RAM.
This is particularly annoying when using forums for instance, as you start writing a reply, switch to another page to copy some info, switch back and the forum page has to reload losing what you had already typed.
Also, on long image heavy web-pages, you must've noticed the big blank areas where the iPad has had to unload previously viewed parts of a web-page when scrolling.
Also, when using the multi-tasking feature of iOS, when the iPad runs short of RAM apps are dumped from memory meaning they are not as quick to re-load when you switch back to them.
More RAM would help alleviate all of these issues.
The relatively small amount of RAM and frequent web page reloading would be my only complaint about the first iPad.

  • How much RAM will my compaq presario c770 support? Or what will the motherboard hp 30d9 support?

My operating system is 32 bit windows vista home premium. I am aware that a 32 bit system will only support up to 4gb of RAM.  I really just need to know what the motherboard "Hewlett-Packard 30D9" will support at best.  I already have 2gb of RAM and I just want to know if it would be useful to attempt to add more. I am also aware what products are available so don't give me links to stores.  The RAM type currently installed is DDR2, if that's significant in determining the maximum effective RAM.  The old girl has some age on her so my warranty is out, which apparently means no email support from hp, the dicks.  I recently did a factory restore and upgraded my battery, I'm just sort of seeing how well I can make my 2008 laptop run so any suggestions regarding my particular computer are welcome. Thanks in advance.

  • How much longer will iPad 3s be good

I Have a 2012 iPad 3 and it still works fine for me, and I updated it to iOS 7. But when will it become obsolete for software upgrades? I've put off buying a MacBook Air since  if I'll have to retire my iPad within the next year, I figure I'll purchase the highest  storage model on that day.

Despite the fact that a device may no longer receive iOS updates does NOT render it useless or obsolete. It will be able to do then, exactly what it can do today.

  • How much RAM will my Macbook Pro take?

    6 or 8 gigs????????
    Here are the exact specs:
I think it's an early 2008 model (I bought it used)
    Mac OS X, Version 10.6.8
    2.2 GHz Intel Core Duo
    Currently 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Macbook Pro 3,1
    Model Name:          MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier:          MacBookPro3,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2.2 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache:          4 MB
      Memory:          4 GB
      Bus Speed:          800 MHz

If you put a 2GB and a 4GB stick in together, your MBP will use all 6GB the same way it would use 4GB, except that there will be a small performance penalty because the modules are not matched. That will be more than offset by theperformance benefits of having more RAM, if you actually need it. If you don't need it, there won't be any benefit from the upgrade.
I read this too.  I read that when you do a 4 gig and 2 gig card, your processor won't be able to work off of the ram simultaneously.  The processor will have to choose one or the other.
Where'd you get this? I think it's nonsense.
Oh, and there are no 3GB RAM modules.

  • How much ram will my iMac hold?

How do I find out what the max RAM my Mac will hold and what type of RAM it takes?

Or if you prefer to do it yourself, you can download a scanner from crucial.com which will scan your Mac and send a report back to Crucial for analysis. They will then tellyou all of the option available for your Mac.

  • How much ram should Lumia 900 have?

I have had my Lumia 900 for almost a week, and I am very happy with the build quality and design. However, I found my device can only be detected up to 358 MB total ram, which is not consistent with what Nokia claims it should have 512MB. Can anyone clarify this confusion for me? Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

How are you checking the memory? Sure you're not seeing "Available Free Memory"?
Keep in mind that the OS and any background tasks are going to use memory. You'll never see 512k of available memory as the OS alone is going to use memory. It can also cache into memory so if you see a very low number it's not a big deal as I find WP7 handles/releases memory to apps very well.

  • How much ram will a late 2011 mac book pro 17inch upgrade?

My Macbook Pro contains 2 memory slots, each of which accepts
    a 1333 MHz DDR3 memory module.
i want to upgrade to the maximum the RAM i have. I want to know what kind of RAM card could I get someone in this community to reccomend.
    thank you very much

One reason I favor OWC is that if you call them up and tell them that their RAM is malfunctioning, replacements are sent out that day, not when they get the bad RAM from you. There are a couple of forum colleagues who use Corsair RAM with no problems.  Macs seem to be very selective about RAM and some brands simply do not work properly in Macs.  OWC and Crucial have good track records, hence the recommendations.
I often grin when someone complains about an inexpensive or bargain part does not perform well in a Mac.  When one pays a premium price for a computer, I would think that quality should come before price for any add-ons or modifications.  It is like purchasing a Ferrari and then using regular gas.
If your replacement Corsair RAM is working, you should be just fine.  One bad experience should not condemn a manufacturer or vendor.
    Ciao.
