How much sdram can the iMac 2007 20" dual core 2.4gHz take?

How much sdram can the iMac 2007 20" dual core 2.4gHz take?

Not SDRAM but SO-DIMM.
The max RAM is offically, 4 GB (two 2GB PC2-5300 667MHz DDR2 SO-DIMM) module but, with larger modules released after that model's specs were written, you can achieve 6GB with one 2GB plus one 4GB module.
You must get the 4GB from a Mac Savvy vendor or it won't work. OWC has the larger modules that are well-tested in Macs:

  • How much pressure can the macbook screen take??????

i have just bought a macbook pro retina late 2013. I was wondering how much pressure can the screen take???????

You said you verified a very close (hopefully with a magnifier) look with varying background colors at the point of impact that there was no color variation as indicative of a hairline crack.
So, AFTER the impact, the white line has appeared 3 times since?
If that is the case you have a hairline crack that you missed upon close inspection or actual, but rare, LCD damaged that didnt manifest an actual crack.
in which case make appt. with Apple on your display. If there IS a crack you missed at inspection or genuine LCD damage, there is no way to fix that, the display would have to be replaced.

  • How much ram can my iMac take?

Hi all, just bought a iMac a few days ago and I'm just wondering how much ram can it take as I want to upgrade it. It didnt come with a manual, so I don't know.
    Here's the spec so far
    Early 2008 20"
Processor  2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  2 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT 128 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.2 (12C60)
Thanks for any help in advance

There are two answers: the official Apple answer and the "you're on your own" answer.
1 - For the official iMac max RAM, see iMac Memory specifications and upgrades
2 - For the "your're on your own" answer, everymac.com has a list of the Actual Maximum RAM you can put in every model Mac.  In many cases this is more than the official maximum RAM.
After deciding how much RAM you want to put in your iMac, I suggest going to Crucial.com and use the memory advisor or system scanner to see what RAM modules are compatible with your iMac.

  • How much ram can a macbook pro 2GHz Intel Core i7 Handle

Wanting to upgrade my RAM and need to know how much it can handle. HOpefully someone can answer this for me

Be sure you buy from a reputable Mac-friendly supplier as Macs are notoriously sensitive to memory.  Two of the best are Crucial and OWC, http://www.macsales.com
They stand behind their products, have great support, and on-line videos on doing the installation.

  • How much longer can an iMac G5 stay relevant?

I have a 2ghz iMac G5 that I bought 6 years ago from Apple refurbished. It's been a great computer and it's still going.
The OS is stuck at 10.5.8 and obviously I have not been able to upgrade to Snow Leopard or Lion. I have the latest iTunes 10.5, but no iCloud support.
But, it stil works. I am hesitant to get rid of it. It's starting to really get slow with the internet as no major browsers are still being updated for it. Safari is stuck at 5.0.6, Firefox at 3.6.23.
How much longer should I expect to keep using it? Thoughts?

I suggest you keep using it whilst it still does what you want.  I use my 2002 Powerbook G4 most days (even if just as an ad-hoc WiFi router for my iPad).  My 2003 iMac G4 does service only as a TV and iTunes player in the kitchen.
Most iCloud features are easily replicated with other free services; Dropbox for cloud storage and a Google account for calendars, contacts and IMAP email would be my initial recommendations.
With regards to the internet speed there is no magic bullet, but keep to the minimum the number of tabs you have open at any time in Safari/FF and install ClickToFlash - Flash being a common resource hog on the internet - you'll only miss a few animated/noisy adverts and if something you want to view in Flash you can click it to load Flash at that point.

  • Macbook pro or imac, how much faster is the imac?

I work on huge photoshop files.  Up to 15gb sometimes.   In the studio I have a macpro 8 core, 32gb ram.   However, I also do work abroad, and for this I bought a macbook pro 2.4ghz intel 2 duo, 3 years ago.   when travelling I keep my files to 1GB or less.  It's still painfully slow.
I need a faster portable option.   Can anybody advise me on the new macbook pro, vs macmini, vs imac?  how do the fastest macbook pro hold up against the fastest imac?

Take a look at this.  There are probably a few more on the web that you can find.
      http://www.primatelabs.ca/geekbench/mac-benchma
The fact is that the iMacs have faster processors than the MBPs but the new MBPs will be significantly faster that your old one.  With that said,  your MAC PRO will still be faster than both the new MBP and the new iMac.
I suspect that if portability is an issue, the MBP probably should get the nod.  The iMac's are big and heavy.
    Ciao.

  • Ok hold on.. How much mem can an iMac 2.16GHz 20" hold??

im to much in a hurry to research who posted this question but i need an answer before 11:00 because im going to go buy a computer for everything. I need an amazing amount of storage and the most mem our of this computer. im looking for a price under $4,500 i've been saving for a master computer for about 3 months and cant wait any longer

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
The current Core 2 Duo iMacs on sale today can take up to 3Gb of RAM. You can install 4 Gb (2x 2Gb) but due to the way the Intel chipset is addresses only a little over 3Gb will ever be available.
If you need an amazing amount of storage and loads of RAM I'd suggest looking at a Mac Pro which will take 3Tb of data internally and 16Gb of RAM. The iMac can only take 750Gb internally although a Firewire connected drive is just as good.
A 2x2.0GHz, 4Gb RAM, 750Gb HDD, Airport & Bluetooth and 20" Display configured Mac Pro comes in at $4,476.
Patience is a virtue, especially when you're in the wrong forum and talking to other users only.
    kind regards

    Maximum Memory

  • How much memory can i put in my imac

how much memory can i put in my new imac

Assuming it's a 27" 2012 machine, it will accomodate up to 32GB. I'd strongly recommend reputable vendors such as OWC (www.macsales.com) or Crucial.
If you bought a 21.5" iMac the RAM is not upgradeable. The 21.5" machines will accomodate up to 16GB from Apple however you have to order the machine with 16GB directly. OWC does provide RAM upgrade kits for the 2012 210.5" iMacs however it is MAJOR surgergy and is full of risks including fatally damaging the machine and invalidating the warranty.

  • How much fast are the new iMac's?

I've been looking at upgrading my G5 PowerMac for a while and now Apple has just updated the iMac. How much faster are the new models over the just superseded ones and my G5 (spec below).
I mainly us it for my work with Photoshop CS2 and the G5 does a great job most of the time but is showing it's age. I was looking at the 2nd model but for not much more you can get the 27inch screen with better upgrade options.

    Hi Craig,
even the very first 2006 released Intel iMacs were faster than the G5 iMacs including yours.
    See this Barefeats test http://www.barefeats.com/imcd3.html
Check additional tests on Barefeats on older iMacs against newer ones http://www.barefeats.com/
The new 2010 iMacs of any sort run circles around the 2006 iMacs, so you are in for a very pleasant surprise
    Regards
    Stefan

  • I have an iMac 5,1 with an Intel Core 2 Duo. I'd like to be able to use iCloud, but need Lion which is too big. How much memory can I add? And will this upgrade allow me to install Lion?

I have an iMac 5,1 with an Intel Core 2 Duo. I'd like to Lion, in order to use iCloud, but the specs indicate I don't have enough memory. How much memory can I add? And will this upgrade allow me to install Lion?

I believe your model iMac can address 3 GB RAM; the minimum for Lion is 2 GB - however, that is an absolute minimum for very light use. You would be much happier with a minimum of 4 GB.
    http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/stats/imac-core-2-duo-2.16-20-inch-sp ecs.html
(You can install 4 GB, but it will only be able to address about 3.1 - 3.2 GB)

    Hello miss_papaya
That model supports 2 4GB modules for a total of 8GB, only problem is that 4GB modules are currently at a premium price. Have a look at the spec's in the following article or in the User's Guide that came with your iMac.

Also have a look at Crucial and OWC memory below:
