How much space is used on a new iPhone 6?

I know the iPod Touch right out of the box has space taken up with the pre installed apps and software.
Does anyone know how much of the 32GB is already used when one first buys the phone?
I imagine the same space is already taken up on a 16GB iPhone 6 also?

iOS, the built in apps, and system overhead take about 3 GB. It is slightly more on a 32 GB than on a 16 GB because the storage allocation map is larger, but the difference will not be significant.
There's an artifact of the way that memory is calculated that will make the storage shown on the phone itself look smaller than it actually is; this is the difference between the 16GB rating which is expressed in decimal, and the storage on the phone, which is measured in binary where 1 KB is 1024 bytes rather than 1,000 bytes. See: How OS X and iOS report storage capacity - Apple Support for an explanation of this difference.

    Hello comodotomi
If the app is in iTunes, you can get information on what Apple ID was associated with the purchase. The steps to do this are outline in the article below.

Try posting in your native language. The translation to English you posted is pretty much nonsense.

  • How much I can use out of the iphone without activating it, like a PDA?

What is the status of an iphone before activation or after de-activation (cancel the plan)? Could I use the iphone like a pda? With Wi-Fi, iphone is still a nice PDA, isn't it?

According the AT&T documentation, "In the inactive state it will not
make or receive calls, except for emergency calls. As well, the iPod, Internet, and Wi-Fi capabilities will not be functional until the device is activated."

  • [SOLVED] How much space is REALLY used on my HDD?

    Hi there,
Today I moved my /home/ dir to its own partition, so that my settings are safe from the system.
I have a question about the used space:
When I use "df -h" to see how much space is used, this is the output for home:
    /dev/sda2             184G  465M  175G   1% /home
So 465 MB should be used. When I right click on home and select properties only 243,5 MB are used!?
I know about the MB/MiB problem... but that would not be that extreme...
    Any ideas?
    greetings, yodo

It is used to store information about the filesystem structure. Inodes, Blocks, etc. Have a look at this c't article: http://www.heise.de/open/Das-Dateisyste … l/104859/0 (German article)

  • How much space used by App + Data

Is there any way to determine how much space is used by each app including it's data?
I have estimated how much space my apps should be occupying and it's 2 GB less that what iTunes shows. I can only assume that one ore more of my apps is taking up much more space that I think it would. I do have an app that is storing lots of photos. After estimating the total size based on the size and number of photos and talking to the developer it does not account for the missing space. The best thing is to actually see true app sizes with their data but I can't figure out how.
    Thanks

    HI Steve,
I do have an app that is storing lots of photos.
Something to keep in mind when syncing photos. When syncing photos to iPad, iTunes automatically creates a size optimized for iPad, if necessary. See “Syncing with iTunes” on page 28 from the iPad online user guide available here.
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPad_UserGuide.pdf
That could make a difference in the space available on your iPad.

Try resizing images on your computer first, then sync to iPad. If you are PC / Windows, help here:

  • When I see the usage on my iPod touch 4 they have categories for how much space is being used where. What does the "other" category contain? Like what could I delete on my iPod to get rid of the "other" category?

when I see the usage on my iPod touch 4 they have categories for how much space is being used where. What does the "other" category contain? Like what could I delete on my iPod to get rid of the "other" category?

What is the Other on my iPhone and How to Remove It
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files.
    First try:
"First you go settings/general/usage/music/then left swipe over music and press delete and you would think it deletes your music but it doesn't instead it deletes your other but make sure your ipod is connected to a computer while doing this"
    as recommended by:
How do I get rid of "other" storage: Apple Support Communities
Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
To restore to factory settings/new iPod see:

  • How much space left for the new System Restore Point(s) creation ??

    Sir,
    MY LAPTOP : single OS, windows 7 sp1 , ultimate 64 , 2gb ram , 4ghz processor,
    kaspersky antivirus full,
    total hard disk 150gb, C: 38.9gb,  11.2 gb free space on C: ,
allocation for SR Points for C: 2.73gb (7%)
    PROBLEM:(SR Point: System Restore Point)
sir, i am facing a problem of false reporting of the space occupied by a SR Point and so, it is unable to know how much space is left for new SR Points such that the old ones dont get eliminated. Here it is always increasing as the time progresses
        1. I created a SR Point at 9:21PM space occupied being shown 114.97mb
       2. The same SR point showing the space occupied at 9:23pm 115.06mb
       3. After 20 hours it is being shown as 272.36mb !
       4. After sometime ,it would show the space (occupied) even more than the actual allocation for eg.
the full allocation is 2.73gb and it will show 3.1gb occupied by the same single SR Point
[for solution of the problem i am managing the single SR Point that is by not doing anything that will     trigger the creation of new SR Point(s) ]
SNAP 1 : plz see only one SR Point is there on c:(the other one is system image back up on another drive)
SNAP 2 : Plz see that the space occupied by the same single SR Point is 276.50 mb which was 114.97 mb initially.SORRY , ONLY TWO IMAGES ALLOWED!
HISTORY : since last 6 months the laptop is with me and when I received it, system protection was off. When I made it active , it used to create SR points very frequently for e.g. 10 points in 2 days. So I stopped its automatic creation
2 months back. I disabled  both the triggers and the task.
SNAP 3 : both the triggers and task disabled.
    NOW
(.) it makes restore points either manually (by me) or by system in the case of install or updates only,
And I am comfortable with it !
(.) SR Point restore is full success !
(.) but the PROBLEM is there !
    So,
Is something wrong going to happen to the hard disk ?
Is it a malicious  activity ?
Does a full defragmentation for a drive deletes all the restore points on the drive ? (it happens here!)
    How should I proceed ?

  • Who has maxed out their space on their 160?  How much space can itunes store on a MacBook?  should I just shift "jazz" to a new iPod and keep rock on my current 160?  any suggestions?

Who has maxed out their space on their 160?  How much space can itunes store on a MacBook?  should I just shift "jazz" to a new iPod and keep rock on my current 160?  any suggestions?

I have not filled the iPod Classic 160 GB.  I have most of my music and a few movies for traveling on that one.  Before I bought it, I had a 20 GB that was always full.  Now, what I do is have rock music on a shuffle that I use for biking or running.  Audio Books are on an iPod Touch.  The 20 GB unit is no longer used (given away) and replaced with the 160 that holds just about everything else.
The MacBook is limited by the size of the hard disk.  Many people with have their entire iTunes library on an external USB or Firewire hard drive and have iTunes map to that.  Remember that this is not truly a backup (if the library is only on one drive, it is not a backup, nor should the iPod/iPhone/iPad/etc. be considered a backup)
If you have the means to have another device, I would agree that splitting your music by genre on each device is the way to go.  I've known people that sort their music on devices by artist, album, etc.  As long as you find a way that works for you.
