How much storage does the iPod Touch start with?

I no this may sound like a stupid question but I no from preivous experience that when you buy an iPod you don't the full storage they say you get. e.g. my current iPod (Classic 80GB) only comes 74.2GB of storaage.
*So my question is - how much storage does each iPod Touch model start out with?*
For example, the 8GB model may only have 7GB to start out with.

You will find ALL storage devices act this way. Your computers hard drive is the same (actual storage of a gigabyte sized drive will be 0.93 times what the stated size is).
An 8GB touch will be about 7.4GB.

I am a bit confused. I bought an iPod 4th gen late May 2013 (made about a year ago) and read that it won't be able to be updated to ios 7 because of the ram. Since when are Apple products only supported for 1 year?! It's bad enough that I got ripped off buying an iPod touch 2G advertised as a 3G 3 years ago (for which I got several updates). Now I buy an iPod 4G this May only to find out a few months later that there will be no updates for it! The only info I can find about this model is that it is only about 1 yr old (which is why I 'm a bit po'd about not getting an update). My ipad is older and can still be updated, so I don't understand why my newer ipod can't! And don't tell me to buy the newer ipod-I just bought this one and cannot afford to purchase another one (not even a refurbished 5th gen, which is still more expensive than the 4g new)!

It doesn't matter when it was designed, it was built 2012 and should be updated just like any other Apple product. My ipad is much older and still getting updates! If you buy a car made in 2012 that was designed in 2010, you still get service for a year. Your response is not valid. An Apple product manufactured less than a year ago should still be entitled to updates. I won't be surprised if there are many people in my position that think this is more than unfair, but disgraceful. I see more lawsuits in Apple's future if they do not provide an update for a recently manufactured product. Maybe you can afford to just go out and purchase a new ipod every year. I cannot and it should be illegal to sell a product that a company does not intend to support. When I purchased my ipod, Apple was still selling them on their website. To sell a product you know won't be supported in a few months is unethical!

No. Only iPhone 4S and iPad (2nd or 3rd Gen) as it requires more processing power. You can still use airplay with your device though.

Say, does anyone know what bluetooth protocol apple is using for their bluetooth keyboards for the iPhone and iPod Touch? It is probably HID, but the people at RIM (i.e. BlackBerry) use SPP. So I would think many 3rd party keyboards use SPP (Serial Port Protocol). But, then, there are many posts about "I wish Apple would support SPP" because people want to build apps that interface with external HW that only supports SPP.
What I want to do? (you ask)
I've one of these nice / expensive Think-out-side portable folding keyboards (good). That only has a serial interface (bad). There are many bluetooth "dongles" out there with serial ports (good). But they only support SPP or Serial Port Protocol (bad? maybe? depends).
See, I know RIM (BlackBerry) people support SPP on their devices. But I haven't heard (found) word one about what the iPod Touch supports. I would hate to spend $80 on one of these dongles and find out it doesn't work.
So, what does the iPod Touch use when talking to the bluetooth keyboard?

What do you mean "How much storage is it if you save it from a text message or from the internet?" That makes no logical sense. SMS is not sent via the Internet, they are sent via the cellular voice network.
The size of any SMS is miniscule and frankly irrelevant. An MMS would have a larger size dependent upon what file is attached.

I am trying to upload songs onto my ipod. The file I am trying to upload is 186 songs that is about 900 MB. hTe songs won't download and a pop-up screen reads "ipod cannot be updated because there is not enough free disk space to hold all the songs in the music" How can I get this music on my ipod. THE 2.o gb is a ruff estimate after you load settings and things like the menus and aplications on the ipod it will require a small amount of your space.
You may also try converting you music files in itunes to mp3 instead of wav or aac wave and acc files will sound better but will take up more space than an mp3
also the length of song may have somthing to do with space. If you download a 3 minute song it obviously will take up less space than a classical song that is like 12 minutes long. So look at the length of songs.

I tried measuring the power output via the headphone jack, and the reading was so small my multimeter could barely measure it. It peaked at about half a volt, and thats with a very loud song with the music cranked up all the way. It averaged about .3. That seems REALLY low, maybe enough to power the cheap earbuds the iPod comes with, but not enough for more power demanding professional headphones or other non-powered audio devices. I called every number apple has to call, and it seems no one in the entire company knows anything about their own product when it comes to power output.
Also, what is the power output for the serial port on the bottom of the iPod? I couldn't measure that with my multimeter without splicing some wire which I wasn't about to do.

Nope, I don't mean the volume level. I mean the actual measurable ammount of electricity that the iPod is physically capable of outputing via the headphone Jack. I imagine the hard drive and screen ***** up most of it, so that the full potential cannot be tapped, because frankly the apple designers had no reason to give it any significant booster space.
No, but having the volume at a max and and playing a variety of different types of music will give one a decent idea of the average power output, which is about a .3. Seems it did show me something, buddy. accurate min, max, and average power should not be that hard to caclculate.

My home button is not working. It seems like its stuck pressed down. I took off the screen protector that I put on it but it looks like there is another one on there. That is just a protective sheet to prevent dust and other things from getting on the screen before you first use it. It is not intended to remain on the screen as a thir-part screen protector.

How can I sync the ipod touch with Outlook on windows 7 64 bit?

I'm having the same problem with Windows 7, iTunes has been spotty about recognizing my iPod Touch. Now that I've updates Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (June 2011), It won't complete a sync or a restore at all on either of my Windows 7 computers.
I have gone through every troubleshooter action recommended by Apple Support, and have not been able to improve the situation at all.
I took my Touch to the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store after trying and failing to complete a restore while troubleshooting, and it restored just fine from a Mac. Unfortunately, it now gives me an error meesage (Incompatible device) half way through an attempted sync, or iTunes simply freezes.
I even tried removing the Windows SP1, but that was a mess, as my display went all whacky and iTunes crashed immediately upon startup.
The Windows 7 OS ***** in general, particularly with compatibility issues, and not just for Apple products.
Does anyone know how to remedy this situation?
I'm so frustrated and have wasted so much time on this issue that I'm going to throw it all out the window!
