I would say that is a matter of judgement
If we are being pedantic it may noteven need a charge initially in that case ,it may have sufficient power ,
assume we are ok with the green battery being full green for 100% charge

That is because it might not only be the dispplay that is damaged. Apple will not repair a computer without Repairing everything that is worng with it. So even though YOU THINK it is just the screen the Apple Techs may find other parts that may have been damaged when the screen got damaged. They will replace all of those also even though you only want the screen replaced. They have to do that to protect themselves from someone with other damaged parts only having one thing repplaced then bring it back in claiming the other parts should of been fixed and weren't.
So you could be looking at a very expensive repair.
IMHO just another reason why NOT to buy into the Hype of the Retina display. At least not from Apple and there SEALED system.
May I ask if you are a Student why you chose to buy such an expensive and new untested hardware system in the first place. -

Computer keeps Configuring and setting up for first time use
I have a toshiba A505-S6980 that has been working fine for a couple years. Recently I had performance issues and suspected virus, spyware so I did a recovery with the original discs I made when I first got the computer. Four of the six discs reloaded fine. It did not ask for the last two discs "Environment 64 bit and Applications and Drives. I also have a System Repair disc. After loading the four recovery discs the computer now keeps recycling between preparing for first time use, configuring system, reboot and then back to preparing for first time use,etc. I think I'm close to getting this, but need a last bit of help.
ThanksIt's been a couple days since you posted this problem. Did you get anywhere, or are you still stuck in that loop? If it's still stuck, you may just want to perform the recovery again.

Check your purchase history. See if it actually charged you twice.
If it did then contact itunes support for a refund.

My refurbished iPad 3 charged for first time it and charger got very hot is that normal
just replaced my refurbished iPad 3 with another. Tried to charge it for first time. Noticed it got very hot and so did charger. I don't recall my other iPad doing this is this a defect in the ipad?
Define "hot".
If fully drained both the battery (that essentially fills up most of the body of the device) and the charger will get quite warm, though not unbearable. Time to charge will vary according to device: my iPad 4 takes about 6 hours if almost flat, but takes about 40 min if at 75%.
Be sure to use ONLY its original charger OR chargers that are rated for iPads. They draw twice the current as phones and will cause phone chargers to get much warmer than usual. -

If you synced it many times, you have to have a backup. It's just a question of how old that backup is now. When did you last sync?
First of all launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Do you see any backups for you iPad in that window? If so, how new is the newest backup? That will be the backup that you will want to use. But remember that if you use that backup and it is one month old, you can only restore from that date back in time. Anything that you did on the iPad in the past month will not be in that backup.
Turn on the new iPad Minin and start activating OTA via WiFi. You will get to a certain point in the process where you will be given the choice to Set up as new, Restore from iCloud - or Restore from iTunes. You will want to select Restore from iTunes.
That is the short and sweet version. There are step by step instructions in this article. This applies to the mini as well as the iPad 4 or the iPad 3 for that matter.

Most wall chargers are dual voltage (110- 220 volts) and only require a plug adopter. Check the wall charger to see if yours is. -

I'm about to charge a new 4 gHz Nano for the first time , using a Windows XP PC. I will charge it for a few hours in advance of giving it to my son for his birthday tomrrow. One quick question...
We currently have Itunes 7.0 on the PC with two different playlists (his and mine), plus some podcasts of mine. When I plug in the Nano to the PC for the first time, will it just charge the unit of will Itunes automatically launch and sync the existing Itunes music? I'm looking to avoid having my son getting all of my music with the first sync.
Nano 4Ghz Windows XPWhen you plug the new Nano in for the first time, it will get installed (if it's charged enough)--or, it will just charge until it's ready. Then you'll get boxes with choices. Since you and your son will have different music on your players, it's probably best to choose the manual update option when that screen opens. Once the iPod is charged, with the manual update option selected, you'll be able to choose the playlists/songs you want to load on your son's new Nano.
