It depends: Not enough. Or too much. ;-)
Personally I'd say I spend about an hour (spread over the day) reading postings, maybe a bit more if I develop a small PL/SQL / SQL solution for a problem that presents a nice challenge. "SQL and PL/SQL" is my preferred topic, followed by "OracleXE". I like the "Database General" part, although I'm not contributing that much there - I'm simply a developer, DBA jobs are not my daily bread, aside from my OracleXE instance which drives my blog. Learning something new from others, day by day, is what keeps me coming back to this place.
@sp009: Does your supervisor know that you're "here"? Personally I wouldn't want to work for someone who doesn't want me to improve upon my skills by using communities such as this one.

  • Is there a plug-in that tracks how much time you've spent in specific files?

I want an easy way to track how much time I've spent on certain projects. I really just need a plug-in that tracks how long files have been open. I'm having trouble searching for one like that; does anyone know if this exists as a plug-in or even as a function of Photoshop (or Illustrator)? This would be very helpful for freelancers. Thanks.

Found this link via Google. I have CS6 and it looks like this, don't know about CC.

You would need to set up the server stats there is a document in the [docs |http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/app-testing/index.html] folder that shows you how to do so.

  • How much time do you spent in Vocals Recording and Mixing?

I would like to know, how much time do you spent in Vocals Recording and Mixing?
I mean, you do doubles and then the are not that correct you record it again and maybe a third version and then you mix it, you cut and arrange some phrases and words so that it is in sync .....
How much time do you spent in this process until you say: This is enough! Because, somehow. you can always do more and try harder and do it again and try this ....
    Thanks to all your comments

sorry jim, i couldnt help it:-)
the better paying and the higher profile the gig, theres really a gamut of singers youll encounter. theres a very well known pop artist i work with that honestly doesnt even get CLOSE to usable vocs until theyve been in there warming up for around 6hrs (takes them this long to get the four other very loud overtones in their voice down to about ONE very loud overtone), and you take takes on them just because you never know. (seriously, 6hrs) but you do it because it pays really well, whats a day of time when you get it back a few times over?? (btw, with this person, theres usually about 20-25 takes to go through when comping a voc, so make that TWO days:-( )
that would be my biggest gauge of how long i spend honestly, the money, unless i have a personal investment in it myself. youll know pretty quickly if youre in trouble or not with a singer. if theyre bad (pitch or timing) but paying well, i will rely on my skills in melodyne to save the day:-) i know what i can do in it and can hear what the singer can or cant do with their voice. sad thing is, the best singers usually arent the ones with record deals.
i know the money gauge prob sounds cold, but for the most part thats the deciding factor. of course there are times you come across real talent and take the experience of working and creating with them over the money, but MOST of the time in this 'business' we dont always have that luxury. plus if youre just starting out, i would take just about ANY gig just to be able to do it and gain the experience, you dont want a really important gig being your maiden voyage in melodyne:-)
i would also go with jims recommendation in melodyne. MD studio lets you use key commands to work (plugin doesnt) and its actually sounds better than the plug itself.
as far as mixing, i cant answer that, i usually dont mix. i will if im the last resort. i would be really discouraged if i couldnt get the mix in a day, with a relisten and tweaks the next day for a couple hours. i sort of mix as i go along just so i can hear everything in its place.
my 2 cents is done with now:-)

  • How much time do you get on video on I pad

How much time do you get on video on the IPad 2?

Can't really answer that.  It depends on how much storage space you have. A 16Gb iPad will obviously have less space to store a video than a 64GB iPad.
The only limitation is your storage space.
At about 100KB per second you are looking at many many hours even on a 16GB iPad.

  • How much time would you say a 3 G I pad would give you?

Hi I am thinking about purchasing an I Pad with 3 G to take on a cruise so I would not have to depend on the internet on the ship.  Is this worth It?  How much time would I have if I were to purchase 2 GB from Verizon?

  • How much time on Internet is 3G?

I'm thinking of getting an iPad with 3G to 5G for the Internet.  Does anyone here have a ballpark idea of how much time one can spend on the Internet per day if they have...say...3G or 5G?  (I spend lots of hours a day on the Internet.)  Also, is Verizon or AT&T better (consistent up-time, etc)?

Think of it like walking. 3G  is like walking at 3 mph, 4G is like walking at 4 mph.  This isn't saying how much you can carry, just how fast.  Yes, in 10 hours  walking at 4 mph you can make more tripsand end up moving more stuff than at 3 mph, but in the end you pay for how much you transport, not how fast you transport it.   This is referred to how much data you use and the "G" plans are referred to as data plans.  When we got an iPhone with AT&T we had the option of the base package with 0.2 GB data/month, the 2 GB package, and the unlimited.  We got the 2 GB package and never come close to it.  If we downloaded movies we'd exceed it with 4 movies easily.
Yes, it allows Internet access when you don't have wireless.  However, the access may be limited to some items.  Netflix would gobble up data.  I don't know if you could even use it over a data plan.  They restrict some of that heavy duty use to proper wi-fi.  For example, you cannot Facetime with 3G, you have to do that with standard wi-fi.  Data plans are a convenience but not a true replacement for WiFi. (In case somebody reads this, I am not going to go into hotspot use right now.)
There's also cost considerations.  I haven't calculated it but I bet if I started downloading at the maximum rate for which we pay I could probably download over 100 GB per month.  We pay $14 for our Internet service with 100 GB potential.  We pay $20 (I think) for the 2 GB data plan with AT&T.

  • How do I display time remaining in a captivate published video so the learning can know how much time is remaining in a video

After I publish my video it just plays but there is no indication of how much time is remaining on the video while watching. How do I display this

It is possible, but you have to know 'time' is bit different, depending if you are talking about the 'editors' time or the real time spent by the the trainee. Have a look at this old blog post, that tries to explain:
    http://blog.lilybiri.com/display-time-information
Time can show on the TOC (editors time), and if you have a playbar with a progress bar that gives some indication as well, but both for pure linear projects.

  • While running the query how much time it will taken, I want to see the time

    Hi Folks
I would like to know ... While running the query how much time it will be taken, I want to see the time? in WEBI XI R2.....
Plz let me know  the answer.......

    Hi Ravi,
The time a report runs is estimated based on the last time it was run. So you need to run the report once before you can see how long it will take. Also it depends on several factors... the database server could cache some queries so running it a second time immediately after the first time could be quicker. And there is the chance of changing filters to bring back different sets of data.
You could also schedule a report and then check the scheduled instance's status properties and view how long a report actually ran.
    Good luck

  • How much do you care about sound quality in your Home Theater?

Many people sweat over the smallest details when getting a video device (TV, projector), but do not think much about the integration of a sound system in their room.  Too many people think that a large TV with an off the shelf sound system will make a great home theater system.  Unfortunately, many stores can't even demonstrate the integration of video and audio as evidenced by the huge wall of TVs and a small section devoted to surround sound systems.  How is a consumer to build a home theater if you can't hear and see what is possible.
So my question is, how much do you care about sound quality and what have you done to get the most out of your system?  For instance: Have you applied sound absorption materials to your walls, have you sweated speaker placement, have you plotted your room's anti-nodes, have you controlled your light levels, have you calibrated your speakers, etc.
Believe it or not, your room's acoustics and the proper type of audio equipment and speakers play a much LARGER part in your enjoyment of anything that you watch.  You just can't throw some speakers into a room wherever you want and expect to have an engrossing experience.
The reason I ask is that I don't believe that many people care about sound quality since a large percentage of the population think that portable digital audio players sound fine.  I would like to be proven wrong.  My other goal is to raise everyone's awareness that you need to think about more than just a large TV in order to build your home theater.
I do not work for Best Buy and am not affiliated with them in any way. I like HT and want to help people improve their HT experience. "There is a LOT more than just having a TV to make a home theater"

It really depends - I am working since the last 2 years on an very large Applet (~650 classes / 1.5mb classes) which had design-time comptibility with MSJVM and Netscape-1.1.5.
Now 2 years later the applet is still not finished although I am pretty sure we would already be shipping if only our managers would not had been that stupid to decide 2 years back to support obsolte jvms.
Since Netscape-4.x is dead and MSJVM useage really decreases dramatically (I guess it won't play a role in 2-3 years) I only can recommend to not target to the msjvm any more.
its really ugly and its buggy, whereever you look bugs, bugs, bugs.

  • Possible to check how much time an update statement on a table would take ?

    Hello @all
I have a table with a fragmented Index, the table has an actula "user_updates" from 226'699.
How can i find out how much time an update on this table takes ?
i would like to check if there is any performance increase when i regroup the index (rebuild), cause the index has a fragementation of 85% now... (or should i delete the index completely) cause there are no user_seeks... only user_updates on the table...
and i thought that indexes only makes sense if users are reading from the table... am i wrong ? (cause on every update from the table, the index (indexes) have to be updated too...
    Thanks and Regards
    Dominic

Rebuilding the index will not likely result in a modification be quicker. At least not more than marginal. In fact, it might wven be slower, since if you currently have space on the index page for the new row and then rebuild so you *don't* have space then
the index rebuild will make that update be slower (at least for the cases where you get page splits).
However if the index isn't used to find rows (any of the other three columns), then you have an index which only cost you and doesn't help you!

You aren't losing any time in that mode, but I believe it is a 10 second fade out/fade in.

  • How much time on alternate methods of browser testing?

Here's a question for anyone who has done professional Web design on at least a part-time basis. I'm trying to help a friend decide whether to get an account with a company (browsercam.com) that lets you submit a URL and then see what it would look like using different combinations of screen sizes, operating systems and browsers. Apparently they use a "farm" of real computers to do this. It ain't cheap.
For those of you designers not using the above-mentioned company or anyone similar, what do you prefer for testing your CSS/HTML for compatibility with the variety of website visitors out there, including those with mobile devices - AND - how much time do you think you use this way in a typical year? Or month? The Dreamweaver Browser Lab? Testing it out on several computers you have access to? Sending the link to several people using different computers and smart phones? Something else?
    Thanks!

I'm not a big fan of screenshot services b/c a still image of one site page doesn't tell you much. This may be OK for quick layout checks but it isn't sufficient for usability and performance testing.  For that, you really must test in real browsers & devices.
I have current versions of the 5 major browsers installed on my workstation (IE, FF, Opera, Safari & Chrome).  Plus MyDebugBar's multi-IE tester for checking legacy IE.
    http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage
If you're specifically targeting a particular make or model mobile device, it's best to buy or borrow one.  Given the staggering number of models on the market, it's not possible to check every one.

  • How much would you pay for Elements 9?

Knowing all the issues/bugs with the latest release, how much would you willing to pay for Adobe Premiere Elements, version 9? In other words, what is the FAIR market value of this release?

I don't think it's worth $100...unless it came with your book in a bundle and some raw stock footage .
I recentlyy tried PowerDirector 8 ultra and the only thing that stopped me from buying a full version was the time I invested in learning Adobe software. If I was to start video editing today, I would probably go with PowerDirector. That thing was flying on my machine and had .mkv file support...fully optimized for Intel Core i7, NVIDIA CUDA, and ATI Stream technology!
After trying version 9, I felt that Elements 9 was left forgotten in the shadow of its big brother - Premiere CS5, which is fully optimized for 64 bit OS! The version 9 is stack in times...of 2008/2009 years, and definitely not 2010/2011!
