How much usage are you getting per charge?

Hello all!
I have heard stories from others about crappy battery life, so I decided to keep track of the last 2 charging periods to see how much usage I was getting per charge.
So far, I have had over 9 hours usage and over 2 days standby time on each of the last 2 charges. Probably 25% talk and 75% internet, email, iPod.
How is your battery doing?

I had to reset my phone, because it shut off as I ran the ipod and left wifi on in my leather case and the unit decided to "chill" literally. Everything was back on 10 minutes later. That being said, with no meter to look at,
Today I made at least 20-25 phone calls, the longest about 15 minutes. I left my bluetooth on all day, with wifi on probably 5-6 hours. Throw in a good 2 hours of IPOD usage and about 20-30 minutes at diferrent times showing of the iphone to a couple vendors and a customer. My phone was in use for 12 hours(what I would consider pretty heavy usage) and I recharged this evening in about 3 hours.
I am pretty pleased with the battery time. Tonight a recharged the battery and had the little space left. After reading another post I unplugged the cord from the AC adapter and plugged into my macbook and synced it and I now have the green glow everyone is so eager to see.

  • When using applications how much usage are you using or are you using none

ive downloaded some free applications on to my iphone lie (facebook, myspace, webmessenger) when actually usually the applications does that use the usage that i get monthly how does it work.

    Hello Kazza0181,
As Tamara mentioned, any application that involves access to the Internet to function (and all the applications you mentioned do require Internet access), you are using the phone carrier's data network.
Since I'm in the U.S. I'm not familiar with the data plans for the carrier in Australia. If your phone plan does not include unlimited data or it has a monthly limit before you are charge extra, your best option is to use WiFi instead of the cellular data network when you're using those applications. If you have WiFi enabled and you are connected to a trusted network (your own or a commercial WiFi hotspot), the iPhone will receive and send data via WiFi. Any data that travels over WiFi will not be reflected in your cellular data plan. Some commercial hotspots have their own charges to join their network, so check with the staff of the location providing the WiFi access for information on how to join their network and what charges may apply.
Tips for using a WiFi network can be found here:

  • How much time do you get on video on I pad

How much time do you get on video on the IPad 2?

Can't really answer that.  It depends on how much storage space you have. A 16Gb iPad will obviously have less space to store a video than a 64GB iPad.
The only limitation is your storage space.
At about 100KB per second you are looking at many many hours even on a 16GB iPad.

  • How much usuage do you get with AT&T with the $25 plan?

Just used all our AT&T usuage plan in 6 days so now have converted to the larger plan.  Don't know how much usuage we would get with 2GB. Thank you. Does anyone know and any tips on using it?

Primarily, do not stream!  No (constant) Youtube, no Pandora, no Spotify, no Netflix.  A few minutes here and there are fine, but if you're listening to Pandora all day at work everyday, that is likely why you burned through your data.  Use streaming only on Wi-Fi.
Most often recommended: turn off cellular.  Use Wi-Fi as often as you can, then turn on celluar manually only when necessary.  This will prevent accidentally using up your data with things like your email client getting new mail continuously, but for some reason, you get disconnected from Wi-Fi.  This is what I do and while it sounds inconvinient, for me it's better to not have to worry about using data accidentally.
To illustrate, I stream from a radio station for about two hours a day, five days a week, during my commute (on the road so no Wi-Fi, and poor FM reception) and I end up using around 700MB a month.  That is audio only, so if I were using a video streaming app like StreamToMe, I can imagine easily using 20+GB per month with my usage habits.

  • How much space did you get after SL installation?

I am curious about the freed space on hard disk people got after installation. The reason is that I decided to check mine. Before I had 268.99 GB of free space on my 500Gb drive. With Snow Leopard installed I have 302.49 GB of free space now. Simple math calculations show that I got 33.5 GB (!!!). Is it just my iMac or anybody else experienced same relief?

Got a strange issue/bug with our networked XServe RAID since upgrading one of our macs to Snow Leopard yesterday. The SL mac claims there's currently 367 GB available on it, but all of the other Leopard macs report that it's 342! Which is correct?
Is this miraculous hard drive space you get back after a SL installation all smoke and mirrors..?
Aha - I should've read the whole thread and clicked the links! Looks like SL reports file sizes differently.

do any one know how much it is to get the new ipod touch with the camera if you trade in your old ipod touch?

Sounds like you need a new battery.  I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to confirm.  Apple will replace the battery for $79.  A third-party place like the folloing may be less expensive.  Google for more places.

  • How many screen-on time are you getting while playing?

How many screen-on time are you getting while playing games on the iPad Mini Retina? I'm planning to buy one and use it mainly for games. I currently own a Samsung Tab S 8.4 which can only last 4 hours screen-on time while playing Clash of Clans.

Unfortunately no one can give you an exact length of time. The stated battery life on an iPad is in the 10 hour area. But there are so many variables that it's impossible to give you any sort of exact length.
I would GUESS, if you spent the whole day gaming on a fresh charge, you may get 5-6 hours but that is a total blind guess. some games demand more power than others so there is no set way to know.

About the only way you could get money is by reporting a serious or critical security vulnerability that has not been reported before.

  • How much data do you generally use a month?

Hi everybody. So i am another guy who's getting the iphone 5 at a discount price.. .
I know they are gonna take my unlimmited data away, and i'll be force to choose the 2GB/$30 a moth, so i was curious too know how much data do i use per month, if 2GB was enough for me. It seems like it, i use 500 MB average a month. But having LTE means more speed, more data, so hopefully 2GB will cover my needs. How about you guys? how much data do you use a month?

    21stNow wrote:
My usage patterns vary, but 1-5GB a month is normal for me.
Note that people who participate on forums may not be a good representation of the general population.  We tend to use our mobile technology so much that we are on our carriers' forums.
Also more likely to use our mobile data plan to access those forums. I know I do.
As for usage. 2-6 GB per month depending how much I use it.

  • How much data did you use on day #1?

Just to get some perspective on how much people are using....
How much have you used so far?
What have you been doing to use data? Downloading apps, surfing the 'net, YouTube, hotspot, facetime, etc...
I've used approximately 1.2mb: 360kb sent, 917kb received. I pre-loaded my apps in iTunes, so this was mostly web surfing & using apps. This was since about noon yesterday.

I do use Pandora a ton on my iPad with wifi so I see what you mean when using it on 3G... I guess you have a point... Certain Apps will drain data... Just maybe the everyday internet browser consumer would be ok though
a lot of people would be ok. the problem that the carriers run in to are the average user that doesn't even know how to check the data usage. they have their email, facebook, weather, etc, etc constantly syncing and then download a movie or something....and before they know it they are at 3 gigs and storm into the store, irate, when they see their overage fees....lol

  • Examining how much resources are left in Oracle?

Hello. I'm writing some programs that interface with Oracle. I want to know if my programs are leaking any oracle resources. Is there a way to do that per connection/session? 'show sga' isn't very useful.
I'm running a bunch of sqlplus queries over 10,000 times which will eventually call some pl/sql code underneath, which in turn calls some external c++ programs. Some of these pl/sql programs dynamically create tables, views, and procs. I'm doing this 10k test on one connection.
I'm using top and I see that Oracle is slowly gaining memory, but i'm not sure what that would be that Oracle is just keeping track of items for house keeping purposes, or if my program is genuinely leaking.
Anyways, any insight/tools to use would be great.
    thanks.

Do not much like the the phrasing of your questions. A lot of resources in Oracle is shared resources. The db buffer cache being 100% utilised is not an indication of resource leakage, or we-have-a-problem - it is a lot better to have data in the buffer cache than on disk when it comes to I/O. A fully utilised buffer cache is a lot more desirable than a stingy one that aggressively try not to be an "exhausted" resource at 100% utilisation.
There are also numerous ways to monitor memory usage in Oracle. Oracle consists of a number of different processes (on Unix/Linux each with its own data segment - stack & heap). Oracle uses shared memory. On the o/s side, what is reported at memory footprint of a process. The actual data segment alone? Global/shared memory used? A lot of memory reporting via top and ps are ambiguous, if you do not understand just what kernel calls are made to calculate this "memory" usage of a process.
Besides, it is very seldom an issue of "how much resources are left"? And even when one happens to be pushing resources, that is the wrong question to ask. Why? Because it is not about how much is left, but how well the resources are configured and being used.
And from the sounds of it, "Some of these pl/sql programs dynamically create tables, views, and procs." - it does not sound like it is being effectively used at all.
For PL/SQL code to be run 10's of 1000's times, and dynamically create database objects..? It's the kind of design and approach that makes me reach for my lead pipe.

  • How much MB do you need to update to iOS 6.1.3

How much MB do you need to update to iOS 6.1.3?

You'll need more space to install.
Do you not have enough free storage space?
How much space is used by your Other? You may be able to reduce.
How Do I Get Rid Of The “Other” Data Stored On My iPad Or iPhone?
    http://tinyurl.com/85w6xwn
With an iOS device, the “Other” space in iTunes is used to store things like documents, settings, caches, and a few other important items. If you sync lots of documents to apps like GoodReader, DropCopy, or anything else that reads external files, your storage use can skyrocket. With iOS 5/6, you can see exactly which applications are taking up the most space. Just head to Settings > General > Usage, and tap the button labeled Show All Apps. The storage section will show you the app and how much storage space it is taking up. Tap on the app name to get a description of the additional storage space being used by the app’s documents and data. You can remove the storage-hogging application and all of its data directly from this screen, or manually remove the data by opening the app. Some applications, especially those designed by Apple, will allow you to remove stored data by swiping from left to right on the item to reveal a Delete button.
