The screen is popping out in the top left corner, the button barely works and the white ring around the camera lenses has fallen off. Would it be smarter just to buy a new iPod?
I believee if it hasnt been tampered with by you, then apple would replace it for $100, or may replace it for free if your warrantee hasnt expired! make a genius bar appointment with them

Today, January 15, 2014, my iPhone 5 slipped out of my pocket of my shorts and fell on the ground from about 3 inches high. It is now shattered but still functions well. What I'm worried about is that my dad took off the warranty for the whole families iPhone's in my household. And I heard that they don't fix broken screens. They replace the phone with a new one. But I don't want that because my iCloud can not backup all my apps that I have currently due to not enough gigabytes on my iCloud. Is there any other way to fix this phone?
There might be a local service center that can replace it for you and if the back up is the only problem try backing up to itunes instead of icloud

First if your iPod is 8gb it is not a 3g. It's probably a 2g.
