How much will more RAM speed up my iBook?

I am looking to upgrade my RAM.
I know that speed is a multi-factor question. I need to know what's important and what pitfalls to avoid.
I have an 12" iBook G4, 1.2GHz, 512 RAM (256 card, 256 internal). I recently installed a 120.0GB Western Digital "Scorpio" 5400RPM 9.5MM SuperSlim Notebook Drive with 8MB Data buffer.
I am choosing between a 512 or 1g RAM upgrade. My questions are:
1) How much will this speed up my computer? 2) Is the 1g really twice as fast? 3) with my specs?
I read a post where some poor cat had upgraded RAM, but didn't feel the difference in iPhoto.
My specs read pc2100 (pc2700 compatible). Will my specific machine work faster with pc2700? Comptick (which has an awesome battery price) has a 1g RAM upgrade for $189, which is pc2100. Apple's $300 1g is pc2700.
What do I need to know about the bus rate so that I don't slow things up there?

There is no way we can quantify this for you. It depends on your usage pattern (i.e. what application you use, how many applications open at a time, etc.).
2) Is the 1g really twice as fast?
Most certainly the answer is no. If lack or RAM was causing delays in processing, adding more RAM will alleviate those delays and make your computing experience smoother and more enjoyable. But changing your RAM from 768 MB to 1.256 GB won't double the speed of your iBook.

For the most part, iPhoto is disk intensive not RAM intensive. Therefore upgrading RAM will only improve certain aspects of iPhoto (such as photo editing).

No, the PC2700 will operate at PC2100 speeds.

I have 1 gb of ram in my 1.67 powerbook. It has an 80gb hard drive. I have a fair amount of programs downloaded and pictures/songs in my itunes. If I double the ram will it speed up the computer significantly to where I'll really notice a differance. Its pretty fast overall, only when I switch from program to program and such that I see the circular colors spinning in the ying yang way or whatever that is.
How much does it cost to have an extra gig of ram installed? Is it possible? Will it help this computer?

A better test would be to open up (and open files with, if appropriate) the apps that you tend to use when you're "busiest" on your computer, and then see how your Activity Monitor reacts.
Note that the yellow area is actually not "page out" - it's the amount of RAM that your applications are actively using. The blue area is RAM used by a program but not active - so it's available to other programs or the system. The green area is completely unused. When you think about it, there's actually no point having completely unused RAM - it doesn't benefit your computer in any way if it's not being used. A good balance would be to have all your RAM used by your apps, but have enough blue (inactive) area that if you needed to open more apps without a speed penalty, you could.

if you mean "Memory", as in RAM, you can 1. look at "About this Mac" which is under the apple menu at the top left of your screen, and it will tell you how much total ram you have.
2. If you mean hard drive space, if you select your startup drive in the finder, and do "Get Info" (control-click), it will tell you how big the hard drive is, and how much free space is on it.
3. Or go to applications>utilities>activity monitor and check out the system memory and disc usage buttons on the bottom.

I forgot to drop it off at FedEx on the way to the airport. My entire family is now on an overseas trip and won't
be back for 8 weeks. The Fascinate, packed in Verizon box with FedEx box, is now sitting in my car trunk at

Pro Retina - How much will it cost to replace a broken display?

Coming home to open my macbook in horror. The screen looks like it has been dropped, but i dont know how. Not sure if it will be warrantable as it definetaly looks user abusive.
The display has random straight coloured lines all through the right side and it looks as though the LCD has been cracked - however as we all know there is no glass, its on the inside of the display.
My question is, if warranty doesent cover it, how much will i be out of pocket?

It will not be covered under the warranty. This is clearly accidental damage, screens don't just do that unless there has been some type of pressure applied to it.
More then likely in your backpack or computer bad and something up against it crushed it.
Cost? They are to new but I would think in the $400-$600 range if not slightly more.

I am thinking about a new imac 21.5 to replace G5 17. Not a gamer or music user but do photos and occasional home video.
Will more RAM than 4 GB for NVIDIA to share with the CPU speed up graphics to an appreciable extent?
