How multiple users can open and update it same time in Sharepoint 2010, excel file

we are using SharePoint 2010, multiple users can open and update the file at same time in SharePoint, I have searched a lot and
read it, some suggestions were can create the file as share work book and then save on Share point and other were its supported only with Office web Apps, Excel Web App, we don't have office Web apps or excel web app, is there any other suggestion,
any help will be great, thanks in advance

    I think that I made the wrong question, as you said: "that means the number of threads currently created".
    I'm worry about this because my application is already online (It's a mail server -SMTP and POP3 server using ORACLE for the users database- ) and some other user post in the "multi-tread forum" that almost any JVM can only have 700 threads created at the same time, and I've never heard or read anything about this.
    what you mean with the stack space (memory??)
    I'm using the JavaWebServer 2.0 and a servlet to start the main Thread.

    Most routers specs I've seen have a theoretical maximum of 256, but obviously due to practical performance issues would likely limited to less than 20.
    As said, usually more than a home user would need.

    I just signed up for FiOS triple play with preferred HD, premium stations, 75/75 internet and phone. I was watching a show the other night and DVR'd 2 shows - got a message saying I couldn't do that. How many shows can I DVR at the same time? Can I still watch a live show while DVR's recording?
    This is SO frustrating!

    Every regular DVR has 2 tuners It can recordp to 2 shows at a time.
    If both tuners are in use,, then you can't watch anything else.
    Want to record more, get more DVRs or upgrade to Quantum.
    Lowere level has 6 tuners. THey support remote TVs and recording.
    THere agin, you can get combination of channels being watched and recorded up to 6.
    Need even more, upgrade to higher level and have 12 tuners to share.

    I have been designing photoshop files for sale to photographers online and all of my work has been created in a windows 7 system. I had a photographer contact me saying that the PSD was trouble to open and that the fonts would not work on his MAC computer.
    Can someone supply me with information on creating/saving windows PSD files so that a MAC user can open them and also use the fonts I supply with the files.
    The files I create are multilayered PSD's and contain fonts for windows PC use and I don't want to exclude MAC users from utilizing my work.

    Just save.  There is no difference in files between platforms.
    There are some Windows-centric font formats that aren't portable, by any OpenType or TrueType font will be portable between platforms.

    Can is there a way to configure the print settings (i.e. paper size, orientation, etc.) and save this setting as part of the pdf file? I would like the users of pdf files to be able to open the file and simply print, without having to manually configure the print settings.

    Not sure if this will help. I got this information from the built-in help under Acrobat 9.

    Lists PDF settings, print dialog presets, and reading options for the document.In the PDF settings for Acrobat, you can set a base Uniform Resource Locator (URL) for web links in the document. Specifying a base URL makes it easy for you to manage web links to other websites. If the URL to the other site changes, you can simply edit the base URL and not have to edit each individual web link that refers to that site. The base URL is not used if a link contains a complete URL address.
    You can also associate a catalog index file (PDX) with the PDF. When the PDF is searched with the Search PDF window, all of the PDFs that are indexed by the specified PDX file are also searched.
    You can include prepress information, such as trapping, for the document. You can define print presets for a document, which prepopulate the Print dialog box with document-specific values. You can also set reading options that determine how the PDF is read by a screen reader or other assistive device.
    Create print presets

It’s best to define print settings for a PDF at the time that you create it, but print presets provide a means to add basic print settings to a PDF at any time.
    Choose File > Properties, and click the Advanced tab.
    In the Print Dialog Presets section, set options and click OK.
    The next time you open the Print dialog box, the values will be set to the print preset values. These settings are also used when you print individual documents in a PDF Portfolio.
    Note: To retain a print preset for a PDF, you must save the PDF after creating the print preset.

    Selects the option by the same name in the Print dialog box. Uses the PDF page size to determine the output tray rather than the page setup option. This option is useful for printing PDFs that contain multiple page sizes on printers that have different-sized output trays.
    Print Page Range
    Prepopulates the Pages box in the Print Range section of the Print dialog box with the page ranges you enter here. This setting is useful in a workflow where documents include both instruction pages and legal pages. For example, if pages 1–2 represent instructions for filling out a form, and pages 3–5 represent the form, you can set up your print job to print multiple copies of only the form.
    Number Of Copies
    Prepopulates the Copies box in the Print dialog box. Choose a number from 2 to 5, or choose Default to use the application default, which is one copy. This limitation prevents multiple unwanted copies from being printed.

  • Illustrator CS6 - File Links Lost & Multiple Users Can Open File Simultaneously

    Hi,
    We've been using Illustrator for years, working off of a local file server for storing all Illustrator and support files.
    But  we've been noticing with Illustrator CS6 some frustrating behavior:
    A) When a user creates a file and attaches a number of images, if a separate user then opens that file all links show up as missing. If nothing is changed or saved, then the original user will still see the links OK. But if another user fixes all the broken links and saves, then the original user shows missing links.
    B) When a user has an Illustrator file open, another user is able to open the file as well (no warnings). This is dangerous and never happened with previous versions of Illustrator.
    We did test to see if either of these issues occurs with InDesign CS6 and they do not. Linked files are kept between users, and only 1 user can have a file open at a time.
    - What changed with Illustrator CS6???

    There are two types of lock in the R/3 System:
    Shared lock
    Shared locks (or read locks) allow you to prevent data from being changed while you are reading it. They prevent other programs from setting an exclusive lock (write lock) to change the object. It does not, however, prevent other programs from setting further read locks.
    Exclusive lock
    Exclusive locks (or write locks) allow you to prevent data from being changed while you are changing it yourself. An exclusive lock, as its name suggests, locks an application object for exclusive use by the program that sets it. No other program can then set either a shared lock or an exclusive lock for the same application object.

  • Question: How to keep QTmovie + Photoshop doc open and working at same time

    Hi there, does anyone know how I can keep BOTH my Photoshop file windows AND a Quicktime movie open and running at the same time. I am trying to follow a set of tutorial movies that I downloaded from a podcast (and I've also tried using a Photoshop Tutorial CD and same thing happens). The problem is when I try to follow along by having a Photoshop file open, the minute I click on the QT movie all my extra Photoshop windows (layers, brushes, history, etc) disappear, leaving just the file. This is no good because what I'm trying to do with the tutorial is to duplicate what they are doing in those windows. Of course when I click back into Photoshop they reappear but by this time the QT movie has raced ahead and the minute I go to pause it .... Photoshop goes again ... is there a way to keep all windows to both applications visible ?

    I’m afraid You will have to employ a workaround.
    I would recommend applying the Path as a Vector Mask to the Layer (with the Path selected command-click on the Add Layer Mask-button in the Layers-panel), then transforming, subsequently duplicating the Vector Mask and removing it from the Layer.
    Or copy-paste it into the existing Clipping Path and then remove it.
    Some part of the procedure may be automate-able with Actions or Scripts and hopefully it will still save at least some time.

  • Multiple Users Connected to Airport Disk at Same Time

    It used to be that I could have multiple user accounts on my MBP connected at the same time to my AirPort Extreme Base Station (802.11n). Now, every time I switch users, I have to reconnect to the AEBS, which in turn seems to disconnect the other user. File Sharing is set up to allow connections via the AEBS password, which always worked fine in the past.
    I'm not sure what has changed in my setup, other than installing Snow Leopard (which I don't assume changed anything in this regard).
    Any ideas will be most appreciated.

    Sorry no one has answered this question. I have the exact problem. I have two user accounts on my MBP. I selected connecting AEBS via AEBS password, too. I can connect with one account and see everything on the disk. When I switch to the other account, it sees the disk but nothing on it. If I disconnect from the disk in that account and then reconnect to the disk, the second account sees everything on the disk. Switching back to the first account, it now can see nothing on the disk and the disk emblem has an icon on it which indicates no access. Clicking on the disk tells me I have no access privileges for the disk. I can then do the same as I did on the second account - use the disconnect button, reconnect, and then all files appear. Of course, when going back to the second account, can no longer access the information. I can do this all day switching back and forth, disconnecting and reconnecting. Obviously, this is not the way it is suppose to work.
    I am using snow leopard also.
    I have tried setting the disk up by using accounts - created two user accounts and passwords In the Airport Utility application. I can access the disk but nothing shows up on it. I suppose I could have created stuff on it and it would not have been available to the other account. Still, not the way I want to use it. I think I tried using the disk password method also and I think it reacted just like the user account issue or maybe the other---neither will keep both users logged in and have access to whatever is on the disk - which is how I want to use it.
    I add this reply in hopes that someone will read both accounts and give us both an answer. OR, if the original poster now has the answer, please provide!!!

    So we've got an Apple Extreme router and I've plugged a hard-drive in the back which has both our itunes & iphoto libraries on it. The idea being that all 3 of our mac laptops can use one networked library.
    However we are finding that only one mac can access each library at any one time - if another mac attempts to access the program simultaneously, it receives a message that the program is locked.
    Is it possible for more than one mac to access each program at any one time? If so, how?

    If you're with Verizon, you can only do this in a wifi area.
    The simplest way is to tap the home button and then tap the icon of what you want to do. You'll either have to use speakerphone or an earpiece in order to see the screen .
