How not to check mail for VPN only mail accounts?

I have a internal mail server that is only accessible via VPN.
How can I tell the iPhone not to check the mailbox without first being connected via VPN?

Unfortunately you can't. Technically, you should be able to set it to manual and be done, but there seems to be a bug in the entire PUSH/FETCH/MANUAL algorithm.
I have found that the iPhone will check for email of POP3 accounts that are set to manual when it pulls PUSH email or even if I go into any inbox.
If you are worried about revealing your password, there is some good news. Even if the phone goes to check your email that is behind a VPN server, it won't send the password until the TCP connection is established with the email server. Since this connection is never established, there is no password sent.

Do you mean in terms of storage ? If so then you can't see it separately for the Mail app, it's included in the 'Other' category which shows at the bottom of the Summary tab when connected to your computer's iTunes - along with notes, calendar info, contacts and the contents of third-party apps.

Well, you don't say what happens when you try to delete the account. So I don't know what else to recommend. However, if your phone is not charging, is that the mains charger or the computer USB? Also, if it not showing any change to battery percentage, then something is wrong with the software. The next step in user troubleshooting after the reset is a restore from backup. However, considering the condition of the phone right now, I would be more than willing to say your backup is going to be corrupt. But you can try. If that does not fix the device, then you restore as new, not from a backup. If the phone works, then you can try restoring the backup again, but if it messes up, you are going to have to restore as new again. If the restore as new does not work, then you need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar or Authorized Apple Service Provider to get the hardware checked.

What I can see here is that you have 2 options -
You can use your Apple ID to create your account, but you must enter a credit card.
***Once you have successfully created the account with a credit card, you can simply remove the card from your account.
Or you can create an iTunes Store account with a free application. However, you cannot use this Apple ID. You must start the process from the beginning with a different email address. This article shows you how:

What port & Authentication are you using?
Can you login with your credentials in a Browser using the same info?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the exact message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
The receiving email ports are:
IMAP is port 143
IMAP-SSL is port 993
POP is port 110
POP-SSL is port 995
Outgoing ports are...

Well there are apps for that, but iPads and others are not suseptable to viruses, if they are its very very very small number. So I would suspect that you are fine, but check the app store for an app that would scan for viruses, i use Virusbarrier to scan downloads i get in emails, or links.

How to save "To do" in my mac, not in my mail account

I have sut up, that I want to store my notes and to dos in my mac. However when I receive some message mark something I want to do, click on "to do" icon, it create it but try to save on my mail account on and send it to the server (for example gmail). In my Gmail account it creates folder Apple Mail To Do and there it stores the "to do" which I created in my mail. But I don't want it. i want to create and store the to do in my MBPro. How can I do that?

Use iCal. Copy the contents of the e-mail, create a new To Do in the To Do right sidebar of iCal. Paste it there.
The To Do function of Mail I agree could be better done.
I've even had to go as far as to drag a message into my drafts folder, just to be able to edit it over again.
Entourage may have some more elegance towards Mail/Calendar integration, unfortunately I find it stores everything in a single database file, which leads to issues when it gets too large.

How to not show both mail accounts in mail app

My wife and I share a Macbook Pro, and both have our mail accounts set up using the Mail.app.
When I start the Mail.app, I can see and access both mail accounts even though we have seperate inboxes. Is there a way to separate these so I don't see her mail and she doesn't see mine?
There is not user log in required on the Macbook. Do I need to create separate user accounts to have the Mail.app only show me my mail?

The correct way to do this is to create a separate account for each of you and disable automatic login when prompted. Under Accounts I would also activate Fast User Switching if the two of you use it at the same time. Then each of you will have your own user directory and this will segregate all of your user data into two separate user folders and you can act separately.
If it is just a convenience thing then download another email program, like Thunderbird, and each of you can simply use a separate program and neither will be bothered with the others email.
Also unchecking the "enable this account" in the Mail > Account preferences will cause an account to "disappear" from the Inbox view until the box is rechecked. But this is only a solution if one of you uses the account occasionally like on long weekends or something.
I think the separate accounts option is what you want from your description but there a few less drastic options.

How to Keep Checking Mail Without Screen Lighted?

I apologize for asking so many questions but I just got an iPod yesterday and it is my first iGadget of any kind.
I would like for it to keep checking mail and signal me when new mail arrives. I understood iPods would do this -- it's one of the main reasons I bought the thing. I've set it to give an audible signal when new mail arrives, but it doesn't seem to work. I've set a thing called Notifications to alert me except between midnight and 7am. But, it turns off (I think it calls this locking) every two minutes so if it can't check while locked it's pretty much useless for monitoring mail. I suppose I could set it to stay on continuously, but I imagine that will run the battery down in short order.
So, are there some special settings to make it check mail and tweetle new messages while "locked"
Incidentally it doesn't seem to alert me of new mail even after I turn it on. I have to activate the mail application to see if there's new mail. I guess it's possible there's a delay while it connects to the network and by the time it's connected I've already gone into the mail reader.

First of all, this is Apple Support Communities, and it was made for questions. You can ask as many as you need to, as long as they're in the correct "community".
Apple Mail app is slightly annoying in this aspect. Unless you are signed up for iCloud or Me mail, you wil have a long delay before you get alerted, even while you're using the device. To help slightly, make sure you go to your Inbox in the mail app before exiting. Also, some mail providers make their own apps, such as Gmail, that alert you instantly. Try searching the App Store for your Mail provideo's app. Hopefully Apple will fix this someday. I hope you can solve this!
