How often is it necessary to power off your ipad?

How often is it necessary to power off your ipad?  I've read that you should do this anytime you will not be using it for awhile.  I'm after clarification on this issue.

I only switch mine off if I know that I'm not going to be using it for a few days, so not very often. It's recommended that you go through at least one power cycle each month (charging it to 100% and then running it down until it powers off : www.apple.com/batteries/ipad.html). Other than that I'm not aware of anything that recommends powering off.

  • What do I need to do to power off my Ipad.  It has a message on the screen that it has not been backed up by icloud for two weeks and will not respond to anything.

I charged my Ipad last night and this morning there was a message from icloud that it has not been backed up for two weeks.  I tried to click the ok but it will not respond.  I cannot even power off the Ipad.  Does anyone know what I should do?

A reset should help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off button at the same time for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons and await restart. No content will be affected.

how do i delete all the music off my iPad mini?

    Hello Tami,
Thank you for the question.  You can remove all the music stored on your iPad mini from the Usage section in Settings:
    View usage on iOS
Tap Settings > General > Usage to view the amount of space each app and its content takes on your device.
Tap an app for more detailed information about its usage.
Depending on the app, you may also be able to delete some of the app's content, or delete the app and its content.
After you have tapped on Music in the Usage section, swipe from right to left over “All Music” to get the option to tap Delete. This will remove all the music stored on your iPad mini.

You will need to keep them in folder on your hard drive somewhere other than in iTunes or they will be deleted from iTunes if you delete them from the device. I have a folder on my Mac called iPad Pages Documents - very original don't you think!

  • Survey: how do you power off your nano?

This is basically a quick survey on how people normally power off their ipod nano.
i have a 2gb black nano and have noticed some problems with turning the nano off by "holding the pause button" as this seems to reset my clock to 12am when i turn the nano back on after awhile.
so currently i just hit pause and let it sit and the nano shuts itself off eventually. so far i have had no problems with this method.
has anyone seen problems with this method or the other one? thanks!

    hi jeff,
yes i have reset the nano multiple times and have even restored it multiple times. i think maybe the problem i am seeing lies in holding the pause button to shut the unit down, perhaps I am pressing too hard. i notice when i power it on after a "hold" shutdown, sometimes the power surges (its a loud power-on sound) and thats when the 12:00am appears. All the other settings remain the same as I set it, just the RTC resets. This problem never happened with a "automatic" shutdown...
The reason for this survey is too see if anyone else has this problem and what the more "popular" way of shutting down the nano is.

  • How to resolve "you need to power off" screen looping

I fitted a new hard drive to my MacBook.  Have restored from a Time Machine back-up.  I have the "you need to power off" screen but every time I power off and power back on I first get the Apple logo screen and then the "you need to power off" screen.
I have read elsewhere it is probably caused by restoring a Snow Leopard backup using a Leopard disc.  So I think I need to do the restore again but can't get out of the "you need to power off" loop....

  • How do you get an ipa off your iPad to backup if the app was removed from the app store and using "Transfer purchases" does not copy the ipa over to iTunes?

Hello everyone. Can anyone shed some light on this problem? If I downloaded an app from the app store called "Print to PDF" that allows opening any application and going to print converts that to a PDF e.g. Safari pages, mail etc and I did not sync or "transfer purchases" for some time and when I look in the app store that app is no longer there so I thought if I could "transfer purchases" iTunes would then have the .ipa and I could back it up and copy it to my iPad 2 but I don't see the ipa in the "mobile applications" directory. How do I get it off my iPad and into iTunes to backup?
Thanks for any help you can give!

Ashka, I have tried to "transfer purchases from device" but that is what I am saying that I do not see the app in the "mobile applications" directory after I do that process. I was wondering if anyone else knew of a way to get to the ipa file that is stored on the iPad such as a program that could browse the directories of the iPad of even an app that could do it so I can get and save the actual app in ipa format.

  • Connect to iTunes required after every power off of Ipad 64GB wifi

My Ipad 64GB wifi model continually prompts to "connect to iTunes" every time I power off and power back on. This is extremely frustrating and the Apple Customer Care has asked that I return my iPad. I would rather find a solution since I am working Iraq and my Ipad is my e-book reader (in place of a Kindle. Steps taken thus far:
Reset iPad (Erase All Content and Settings)
    Reset Network settings
Reset All Settings (content not erased)
I've read that this problem sometimes occurs with some third-party applications installed (like Jailbird) . I do not have any of those applications installed. If anyone can offer a solution I would greatly appreciate it.
    Danielle

Since you erased all content and reinstalled the OS and this still happens, sounds like a hardware failure. You need to take the iPad back to an Apple store for an exchange.

  • Do I need to power off my iPad after each use?

I bought a new iPad. The problem is after each use I have to power off in Order to connect to internet. Is there something in settings I need to do in Order not to have to shut my iPAd off so often

That shouldn't happen. I almost never turn my iPad off unless I do so for troubleshooting purposes. There is nothing in the settings that you should have to "fix" either as long as WiFi is always turned on.
Try resetting your iPad and see if that helps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
