This is a user-to-user forum. I don't work for Apple. There are occasional Apple employees who post here. I believe they are identified by a purple apple (or maybe that's the mods and the employees are the silver apple....)
but has anyone heard officially if Apple is looking into or taking the nurmerous ipod touch issues serious? My touch worked perfectly fine before the 2.2, i have gen 1 and I am really disappointed.
Don't know what to tell you. I have both a 1st gen and 2nd gen Touch running 2.2 and working perfectly. I'm especially excited about the ability to download podcasts directly. I have no problems with WiFi.
but not if this is how they run customer support, genius bar and others all act like they dont know a darn thing and i find that impossible.
As I mentioned above this isn't customer support, it's a user-to-user forum. The contact information for customer and technical support can be found by using the link at the bottom right of every page labeled "Contact Us".
I understand if they are working on it and arent ready to state a fix, but come on at least acknowledge we ALL arent crazy or thinking its our internet provider, router or something else.....
Given the number of variables involved (ISP, router, thickness of walls, etc), it may take some time to isolate problems. Since not everyone who is using 2.2 is having problems, it's obviously not a complete failure of the software.
Best of luck.

  • Can I control how often the scheduler wakes up?

We're experimenting with parallelizing long running jobs by breaking them up into smaller mutually exclusive jobs. The majority of the small jobs run in a subsecond timeframe. When I send these jobs to the job queue via dbms_job, I get respectable throughput -- along the lines of hundreds per second. When I converted this to run with dbms_scheduler, the throughput is horrible. It will run 12 jobs in subsecond timeframe but then not run the next set for 5 seconds (run 12, 5 seconds later run 12 more, etc.) even though there are many jobs queued up to run (hundreds). I seem to remember a way to govern how long the job queue processor "sleeps" in the dbms_job scenario although I can't seem to find it in the 10g documentation (going to check the 9i documentation next). Is there a way to configure the job scheduler similarly as to how long it should sleep after it runs a set of jobs?

    What version are you running?
There are 2 reasons why this is happening:
    1)
To is designed to run jobs in max throughput, i.e it will throttle jobs to let the ones
that are running finish quicker. So it is a little conservative in scheduling jobs in parallel.
    2) Scheduler works in conjunction with resource manager. Resource manager
throttles resource groups. If you have don't have resource manager running you will
effectively have a single consumer group. This also limits the number of jobs you can run in parallel.
To run many jobs in parallel you need to make a resource plan with many resource groups.
    Example:
The following is an example how you can get 80 slaves to run (assuming cpu_count = 2)
    alter system set resource_manager_plan = '';
    grant create job to scott;
Rem Drop objects if they exist

  • How run the back ground jobs

    Hi Experts,
    I have one scenario .
I have scheduled on program in back ground.
now that in back . when i excute that back job program.
I need to  tranfer that data to application server.
please suggest me how to do this.
    Ramesh.
    thanks in advanice.

there is a system variable sy-batch which recognises if the job is running in background or not..
OPEN DATASET p_file FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
    IF sy-subrc NE 0.
    MESSAGE e001(zsd_mes).
    EXIT.
    ELSE.
*---Data is downloaded to the application server file path
    LOOP AT it_tab2 INTO wa_tab2.
    TRANSFER wa_tab2 TO p_file.
    ENDLOOP.
    ENDIF.
*--Close the Application server file (Mandatory).
    CLOSE DATASET p_file.

  • There is no longer a "close tab" under the file menu, so how do I go back to a previous page when the back button will not work?

Often the back button will not work. I can find no "close tab" under the menus, which I think used to be there, and which is used with Internet Explorer to go to the previous page. How can I go back to the previous page with Firefox when the back button will not work?

No you can't. Apple don't support downgrading of iOS.

  • How often does the Apple TV sync with updated home sharing playlists?

I am trying to use several Apple TV's at my business for content management throughout our campus.  I want to be able to have a playlist of pictures and videos that is easy to update.  Can anyone tell me how often the Apple TV syncs with the home sharing network for an updated playlist?  It would be very inconvenient if the only way was to do a reboot on every device each time content was updated.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
I can't really say for sure how often the Apple TV updates its shared libraries.
I do however know that once the Apple TV as completed playing something, it will sync with the shared library in order to update the play count. So I'd be reasonably sure that the shared library is updated at least once every time something is played.

  • How well does the back of the iPad 4 stand up to scratches?

If you use it just around the house how does the back of the iPad 4 stand up to scratches?

It stands up great to scratches. Dents are another story, but if you treat it carefully it would not get dented. Apple also makes an iPad Smart Case to protect it:

  • How often does iTunes store update podcast feed?

I've been producing a weekly podcast for six weeks now. My mp3s are hosted on archive.org and I post them on Tumblr. Feedburner pulls the tumblr feed, and iTunes pulls the Feedburner feed. Feedburner usually updates within ten minutes of any new posts or changes I make on Tumblr, and usually, the iTunes podcast page updates just as quickly. Then sometimes, like today, hours go by and I see no update in iTunes and I get paranoid that I did something wrong and wonder if I need to delete and start over again.
I follow the same formula every week with my posts, so I don't believe anything I've done is incorrect (I'm always careful remember to remove the "s" from "https://" which gave me problems when I first started). I just have no idea how often the iTunes Store actually attempts to update. Is there a standard time, or range of time?
Here is my Feedburner page: http://feeds.feedburner.com/YaxzonJackson
Here is the iTunes podcast page: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/yaxzon-jackson/id914021875

When you add a new episode to your feed and upload it, it appears immediately for subscribers because their iTunes application reads the feed directly and the Store is not involved.
However because of the huge number of podcasts in the Store (thousands) the Store caches the feed and checks it for updates periodically. For this reason it usually takes 1-2 days for new episodes to appear in the Store: sometimes it can be less, and occasionally the whole process seems to get stuck and it can take several days.
You podcast is up to date in the Store with an episode posted yesterday; if you've been used to quicker results you've just been lucky; you can't rely on it always happening.

  • How often are maps updated?

    Hi
I have a Nokia N95 8gb now running with Nokia Maps 2, I am from Denmark and have loaded the latest map using Map loader,Can I expect the maps to be constantly updated? Such that it makes sense to download the latest map over Denmark now and then.
If so does anybody know how often the maps are updated?
    Regards
    Rundelight

You can check for uppdated maps via the application in phone. Not sure exactly how to do but you find it in the user manual.
Ive heard "every for month" but im not sure..

  • How often do they update maps, anyone?

My address has been on the map for over 2 years now and it still doesn't show up on the "latest" ovi maps. When I use my GPS I have to use the street outside the sub-division as a starting point. I think I would rather pay for a stand alone GPS and a cheaper phone. 2 1/2 years come on! The funny thing is that Nokia uses Navteq as one of its maps providers, but their map shows my address. (I am using a 5800 Navigator)

Nokia's map data is indeed usually updated about four times a year, but how often the source data is upated is less clear.
There are now three digital mapping companies, Navteq (recently bought by Nokia), TeleAtlas (recently bought by TomTom) and Google. These all produce their own data from combinations of data from the mapping authorities in each country, research done by themselves by street-level study and/or satellite imagery and information provided by individual users - data from these sources is cross-checked and then finally makes it into the map data used for various softwares.
For obvious reasons, big cities and major routes receive priority attention over smaller towns and villages so that the largest possible groups of users benefit from update cycles, places that few people visit are often left behind.

  • New iMac user, can you use a fan to cool the back?

    Hi everone,
I'm a new iMac user, a new mac user full stop. I recently was given one for college because I'm dyslexic so I recived one to help with college work. I'm a P.C girl mostly so i'm very new to this system, but we do use these at college thou I avoided them like the plauge because I just didn't know how to use them.
ANYWAYS....I noticed that the back get's very hot, my desk is by the window of my room because it gets a little hot in my room at time's and I know my P.C would heat but so the window it was.
i was wondering if used an external fan behind the mac might help with the temp, nothing big just a small fan for the back of the computer like the one's you use in an office but allot smaller? is this a good idea or not?
thank you for takeing the time to read my post, I did read the other about hot mac's but it didn't have the answer I was looking for.
    Cap'Pixie xox

Just be sure it's fixed low enough to be aimed upwards. That way it won't prevent the hot air escaping from the upper exhaust by blowing it back in. It will be blowing dust around too, so keep the area as dust free as possible. Whether I need to run this fan depends on the intenal temps and how hot the back feels. But can aid considerably in cooling. Get iStat Pro.

  • How often do new iMacs come out?

I've never owned an iMac (Just the monitor). I'm keen to purchase a:
    27-inch: 3.4GHz

    Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
    8GB (two 4GB) memory
    1TB hard drive1
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 775M with 2GB video memory
    $1,999.00
Before I buy one, I'd like to know how often the new ones come out because I'd hate to spend all my money on one then a brand new version comes out. I'm not sure if they change the actually iMac (change the design/dimensions) or is it only the software that updates?
I also understand there are lots of options you can select, which impact the price, such as:
    Processor
3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
    3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz [Add $200.00]

With just the monitor would I be able to run windows software as well, such as FL Studio?
So I'm wondering what happens when I get his thing. Do I just turn it on and start using it as I would my MacBook Pro? Do I need to install things, configure updates etc. Will I need system unit or will a hard disk with a lot of space be equal?
I plan to use the iMac for absolutely everything, Adobe Mastercollection, Music Production (FL Studio/Ableton/Logic). I'd like to be able to plug in synths, digital pianos and I also need good sound, can I plug in speakers or anything?
As you can see, I don't know much about the iMac even though I've looked around and read reviews. Thankyou in advance!

  • For SAP; What is the "job description" for the back-up blade?

    Dear all,
We have several cases that the back-up blade didn't pick up the workload from the failed/hang blades ( we are using the Ver 49), and I would like to know why. What are the cases that are not applicable to back up blade? Even if I think that the back-up blade picked up the load, I am not 100% sure if that is the case, is there any log that I can see that the queries were switched to the back up blade, how can I confirm this?
The reason I am asking this is, if I have say indexes for the cube ABC in blade 1 and if it's hang/down, how can the back up blade pick up that data and serve to the customer? At the end, if it's not working properly, I can use it as a normal productive blade
    Cheers

    Hi Tansu
BWA is a so-called distributed TREX system. You can read more here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/21/2183402d9ed062e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
A backup blade (host) takes over in case of a failure of the master blade. The cases are described here:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/a2/818440cbcccf62e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
The actual switch is pretty fast and usually takes less than a minute (first BWA query needs to load the data into memory of course which add some seconds to the first query execution).
Important: An overloaded blade is NOT down. It's up and running and processing queries (clearly indicated by high CPU load)! Therefore TREX is not switching to the backup blade.
    Regards,
    Marc

Note: The same can happen in a database where complex SQL statements lead to 100% CPU load. Here as well you have to manually intervene and terminate the query.

  • How often does Firefox Sync back-up data? I see there is no preference selection allowing you to change the pre-set frequency (whatever that interval may be).

How often does Firefox Sync back-up data? I see there is no preference selection allowing you to change the pre-set frequency (whatever that interval may be).

However, the sync action only triggers every 60-minute and there is no user-configurable option provided. Although one can put a Sync icon onto the toolbar for easier access, it is still far from practical needs.
To unlock this limitation, do the following:
    1) Type “about:config” at the address bar
    2) Search for “services.sync.syncInterval”
    3) Change the value from 3600000 (milliseconds = 3600 seconds = 60 minutes) to any value (in millisecond) of your choice
    4) Close and restart Firefox
The Sync action will now trigger at the interval you just set.
