How old are you people?

I haven't posted a question for a while, so I figured it was about time. For starters, I'm only 19. I'm on my first programing job and a freshman in college. I was wondering how old the rest of you were. I keep reading posts about people that wrote code when I was still young enough to think I was going to be a proffesional baseball player. That was about second grade by the way. Anyway, just curious.

man, don't you just hate posting a new topic and than realizing that someone else asked the same question earlier that day? http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=306579&start=0&range=15&hilite=false&q=

  • How old are you?

Hello I would like to know how old people who use the forum are and also if you use java for your job or if you are student.
I will start and say I am 29 years old and use java for my job as programer.

Hello I would like to know how old people use this
forum are and also if you use java for your job or if
you are student.I would guess that old people use it the same way the younger people do. Maybe at a different resolution though?
I don't drink coffee so my use of java is rather slim at work or school.

  • I was just wondering how old do you have to be to finance a macbook pro

hi i was just wondering how old do you have to be to finance a macbook pro, im in high school and i im always doing projects with my friend, and since im always at their house i wanted to get a macbook so i can bring what i wroute and others stuff to their house. Also how much money would it cost to finance it.

    Forget about financing a Mac.
If you can't afford to pay big boy cash up front + AppleCare + tax + backup drives + third party software + OS X annual upgrades + annual third party software upgrades + case + adapters + this and that... etc.
Then you really shouldn't be getting one because money is already too tight for you and there is a lot of other costs besides the sticker price that can even exceed the sticker price.
I've paid over $10,000 over 10 years for Mac's and associated software and hardware.
My Windows XP Dell Tower using friend used the same $600 machine over that same time frame, perhaps to $1000, paid for a few changes, RAM upgrades etc., but nothing even close to what I have spent on Mac's.
    Mac's are for the rich.
A Windows 7 laptop will do you just fine for $400 at any office store and perform just the same as a 13" MacBookPro costing $1500 + $400 in AppleCare and Tax, they are almost idential performance wise except for the name and the case.
If you want to 3D game, get a $250 PlayStation 3 or Xbox. Boom your done for under $1000
If you finance, then your looking at spending $3000 for a $1500 computer that can be lost or stolen, some jerk spills a liquid on the keyboard and fries it in seconds.
You still have to pay off the $3000 loan.

  • How old do you have to be to have an apple account

how old do you have to be to have an apple account, i want to set one up for my daughter on her iphone and it said she is not eligable to have one yet?

  • How old do you have to be, to be an apple developer

    Hi,
My name is michael, and I had a question I would like to ask the devolper community. I have always dreamed of making apps ever since I was 11, I have taken classes at school, learned online, and even through youtube. I am now 15, and thought that I have the maturity and patience to work on an app. I found out from an apple employee about the $99 devolper program, and wanted to enroll in it. My problem however was how old do I have to be? If anyone could help me, or give me any alternatives, I would really appreciate it.
    Thankyou

What you have to do is have your parents create a new Apple ID, for you, but in their name. They pay the $99 but you use the account. That is all on the up-and-up as far as Apple is concerned. If you make any money, your parents would still be responsible for taxes, etc.
However, you can access most of the developer services with a free developer account. The only things you can't do are install software on a mobile device, put something in the app stores, or post your own messages in the developer forums. All of the good beta software will be going live shortly so that is not much of an issue right now.

  • How Exactly Are You 'Meant' To Log Onto BT Wifi?

Can someone tell me what exactly are you meant to use to log in to a hotspot ?  Is it the BT ID/Password you access your online customer account with?  Is it the @btinternet.com with the same or different password?  Is it something else?
We got BT Infinity this past Monday (that bit works fine).
We can see/access the local hotspots (BT Wifi/FON), but they fail to recognise our logins details as valid.
When I use our valid BT ID/Password on the "Check the status of your BT Wi-fi account" page, it reports "Enter valid Username". If I switch it for the @btinternet.com address we were given, it says "Authentication failed. Invalid username or password" .
The "Register for BT Wi-fi", section says "Enter valid Username" or "Resubmission Error!" respectively.
To make matters even more confusing, when our broadband was originally switched over to BT from Plusnet (but the engineer had not arrived yet) I phoned up to ask how to access a hotspot, and a lady in one of the Indian call centres gave me a string of numbers to use as a username/password (eg 10563482 cgnywtbe).  Suffice it to say this made no sense, nor did it work.
So exactly what is the correct process?
    Solved!

My son is trying to create an Apple ID, but he keeps getting a message that he's not old enough to create one. How old does he need to be?

  • How happy are you with Tiger?

Is Tiger "buggy"?, or does it work smoothly? I'm considering upgrading from Panther. Would I regret it?
    Thanks.

I'm basically satisfied with Tiger, but there are a number of "anomalies" that I keep stumbling over.
Biggest problem: if you have to deal with any OS9 machines, YOU CAN'T NETWORK THEM!!! This is the worst! I know that Apple is not going to support OS9 any longer, but what's so bad about allowing the machines to network? Even Windows machines can be networked; why not older Macs? Many of my publishing clients still require older programs, so now I use sneakernet between machines.
Other problems all relate to file format issues:
Lots of fonts turn into unusable Unix Executable Files when brought onto the hard drive. (I solve this problem by stuffing a font folder before placing it on a 10.4 machine.) This was not a problem in 10.3.
There are problems with long file names and problems with files without suffixes (.tif, .doc, .txt, etc.)--apparently Mac/Unix doesn't play so nicely any more. This is probably what destroys the fonts, too.
Even when a TIF file has its proper suffix, something weird happens when copying the file to OS9: it changes from being recognized as a Photohop document to a PictureViewer document; even the preview icon is dumped for the generic PictureViewer one. My preferences are set to open TIF and JPG files with Photoshop. I finally found out how to get my screen captures as PDF, not PictureViewer. (What's with this PictureViewer, anyway?) Again, this was not a problem in 10.3.
Maybe most people won't have these problems, but I seem to be tripped up at every turn by 10.4 taking over unnecessarily. I keep looking through the forums and documentation for solutions, without much success.
Bottom line: I have to keep up with the latest software and hardware to stay in business, so I'm not going back. But some of the aggravation seems unnecessary.

  • How often are you using the Internet on the iPhone?

I was wondering how often you guys are using the Internet on the iPhone?
Do you guys enjoy using the the Internet on it?
Also, do you like the keyboard on it?
Just letting you know that I am typing this on my iPhone!!
    Sam

I flew from PDX to DAB today browsing the internet both via wi fi (fast) and Edge (slow, but usable) at various airports and other locations. This browser is the best! I do not have to take a laptop with me anymore. The re size feature is the key, all phone browsers will have this in the future.
Its been years since I was excited about anything in the tech world (and I own a Software company) but I gotta hand it to Apple they really did a job with the iPhone.

  • What the heck are you people doing by synchronizing info. between my computers without notifying me?

    ''dupe of - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/977896''
I've been a Firefox user since 2005 and had once sworn allegiance to Firefox but not any more. As of this moment I will never use Firefox ever again. I've been using Firefox since 2005 and have been using it as the default browser on my three desktops and laptop but it seems today is the last day I am ever going to use Firefox.
I am absolutely livid having just noticed that you synchronize information, data, between my computers without taking the absolutely necessary, responsible, proper steps to notify your users exactly what you are doing and not by the derelict, utterly inexcusable manner in which you have a pop-up do what you don't seem to have the moral sense to do in a responsible, upstanding manner.
You've been slipping for years, having made compromises, skating on morally thin ice, alienating Firefox users in all sorts of ethically questionable ways, but this, this is beyond the pale.
Firefox, you are out of my life forever.

hello mediamayven, without you actively setting up a sync account and pairing all individual devices to this account, there won't be any synchronising going on by mozilla at all! i don't know where you're getting the impression from that it would be anything other than that...

  • HT204053 how old do you have to be to create your own AppleID?

I am trying to create an Apple ID for my daughters icloud account on her ne phone, but when i try to put in her age and press next, it sends a window telling me you are currently not eligable to set up an Apple ID account.
Is there an age limit? and if so what are my alternatives?
I am guessing I can do it under my name, but I want this to be an icloud account for my daughers iPhone, and I want the account under her name. Is this possible because its asking for a birthdate then in next window it wants your first and laet name. Should I put my daughters name here or mine. I want my daughters neme here so when she connects to icloud, it will show her name not mine.
    Please advise.

They have to be 13. You can let her use your (2nd) account which should be in your name but with any address you want that you have control of. Whether you adhere this is a matter for you to decide.

  • WTF are you people doing? Firefox sucks almost as bad as IE now, please stop "fixing" it.

With each new version you suck a little bit more.
You have become as bad as google, updating and changing for no good reason, in a race to the bottom with yourself.
The whole reason I started using Firefox is because it worked, now after thousands of installs and convincing users to ditch IE you have become just as bad.
I now restart Firefox a dozens times a day on the 3 machines I use daily. The memory requirements are staggering and FF is now SLOW.
First thing out of the box you will say "you have too many add ons", sorry, I only use one, noscript and not even that on 2 of the three machines.
Three tabs open and nearly 600,000K and using 1-12% CPU just to type this text.
Don't bother with an answer, just clean up your mess. In the alternative we can all wait for someone to come along and eat your lunch. Give me a browser that WORKS and I will forget Firefox ever existed.

Yep, firefox sucks now. I'm now forced to use Chrome.
When watching full movie streams, it would freeze and hog the CPU for about 3 minutes and then continue.
When I'm working on a site that uses flash, it too would freeze and hog the CPU.
Firefox is now a system resource hog.
