You can't just put one file from somewhere and "plug-in" with your database.Either you have to recover that file which has another complications or you have to restore the entire old database.
Answer the questions that I have just asked.This will help for a better answer .

Can't uninstall old player to replace with new Flash.

Recently- i have tried to uninstall my old version of flash player with active x, to replace with the newer version- but when i try to uninstall it- it says i have to close down my internet- which i did, and then to close down something called "service manager" which i don't know what it is. I have internet explorer 9 and Vista Home Premium, which shouldn't cause any problems but it does.
What should i do?

Download the FP uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html and save it to disk. Close all browser windows (also any messengers), then run the downloaded uninstaller.
If you still get any errors that you must close some applications, check with the Task Manager (Processes tab) what is running.

Upset after getting old model 6416 DVR with new FIOS install

I had my new FIOS triple play installed this week. The installer showed up with a refurb 6416 DVR rather than the current 7232 model.   I am apparently expected to pay the same price as those who have the 7232.   Storage capacity and external drive were key to my decision to switch to FIOS.   This is wildly unacceptable!
After spending many hours calling various hotline numbers, being transferred dozens of times, calling every Verizon store in the state... absolutely no progress.    I heard "we can't do anything" dozens of times.
After complaining via one email address I found, I did receive a response from an escalation rep who said they would "check with the local garage".    That sounded promising.   I did appreciate the response, but no word back since then.
This situation is insane.   Why must it be this difficult?    I am a few days into this so far... I guess I will be forced to cancel at some point if this does not get resolved.    Each day that goes by I will have to post more forum entries, send more emails, and make more phone calls.
If a Verizon rep reads this... please help!!!      It is very nice that someone is checking a garage, but that alone does nothing for me.  I just need a 7232.

Got one!    I found a Verizon store that just got a delivery of a few 7232's yesterday.   It was a 3 hour drive, but at least I have one now.

I am in an unenviable position, with an unsupported database.
We are running Oracle 9i on Windows XP. We are upgrading soon to Oracle 11g on a newer platform, but need to get our development environment working first.
We lost a system that was running our development database without having a database export. The C drive was placed into a new system as the D drive.
I have loaded Oracle 9i on the C drive, but I have been unable to determine how to point it to the existing data files on the D drive. My search skills may be the limiting factor here...
We cannot simply load the drive as C, since the hardware is different.
What are the steps to point the new database software at the data files on the D drive? Or, how do I copy the old data files into the new Oracle Home and have them recognized properly?

Are you stating that you don't know how to use COPY command?
Can you recreate same directory structure on new C drive as exist on old C drive?
Can you then drag & drop copies of the files?

Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though.

Almost everyday, when i start iTunes my library files are replaced with new files & then i need to replce the new ones with my backup set

There are a couple of recommended methods for using more than one iPod on a single computer. Method one is to have two Mac or Windows user accounts which by definition would give you two completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one.
Method two is to set your preferences so that either one or both iPods get updated with only certain playlists within one library. Have a look at this article and see what you think and go for whichever you feel suits your needs best: How To Use Multiple iPods with One Computer
Another option when using a single library is to set one or both of the iPods to manual update: Managing content manually on iPod
Choosing the update option "automatically update selected playlists only" (called Sync Music - Selected playlists in iTunes 7) allows you to create a playlist specifically for each iPod and drag the tracks you want into it. If you tire of the list and want to change it, you just add or remove the songs you don't want. The ones you take out out remain in the library to be used by the other iPod. Make your playlist a Smart playlist and limit the size to just below the advertised capacity of your iPod ( for example, around 3700MB for a 4GB or 1800MB for a 2GB Mini or Nano). Only the Apple ID used to buy an app can update an app. Apple does not merge Apple IDs and Apple does not transfer content biught with one ID to another ID.

How do I remove one failing hard drive from raid set and replace with new one

Last Friday apparently one of my raid drives started failing.
As I mentioned on this forum I started getting continous beeping.
I was finally able to get the raid working at a degraded level. I ordered a replacement hard drive which is arriving today.
(In the meantime I made twice daily backups of my work.....)
Below was the message I got from the browser based raid software:

At one point when I did the checked the browser interface I saw the message Failed and Degraded
As I said, I was able to work over the weekend on the degraded system.
This morning I got the beeping again and did the rescue and now I am running a "full raid" without the notice that one raid was "Free".
In any case, the new hard drive is arriving today.
What steps should I take to incorporate the new drive into the raid system.
I have one OS drive
and 4 tb raid drives.   One needs to be replaced with the new one that I am getting today.

Please tell me how to read the serial number from an individual drive rather easily, without un-installing them:
If you select the proper drive to change out, you only need to remove one drive and look at its serial number...
Step 1: Identify bad drive serial number using Areca's tools
Step 2: Turn off the computer
Step 3: Remove what you think is the bad drive based on following your numbered cable method, marked hot-swap bays, whatever
Step 4: Verify that the serial number matches the "bad drive" serial number from step 1; if it does great, proceed; if it does not match, go back to step 3
Step 5: Change out the CORRECT drive - that's the bottom line for this whole procedure

First, iCloud: How to back up iCloud data.
Next, use iCal>File>Export>Export...for the calendar that you want to use for the export. Move the .ics file to your new computer, and double click the file. You will be offered a choice of creating a new calendar in iCloud, or importing to an existing calendar. Make the appropriate choice for your circumstances.

Transferred my Library to new laptop, but how to associate/sync iPhone with new laptop?

I got a new laptop. The old laptop is still working. I transferred my library using the Home Sharing method and all of my items were moved except my apps. I plugged in my iPhone to the new computer and used "Transfer Purchases from iPhone" option and all of my apps were added to the library. But, now I don't know how to associate the iPhone with the new computer. When I plug in my iPhone to the new computer. It starts to sync. It says steps 1 through 3, spins for 20 seconds and says complete, but nothing was done. I do not get the "this iPhone is associated with another library" message when I plug it in to new computer, perhaps because I've authorized both computers. All I can find in my searches is how to avoid losing all of your data and how to transfer your library, but none has dealt with this exact situation. I am stumped as to how to get iPhone associated with new computer. Can I transfer my backup from the old computer and restore from backup? Other thoughts? Sorry if the answer is somewhere (I'm sure it is), but I have spent two days looking.

Randers4, so I carefully followed the directions (only one that confused me was about adding a fake address/calendar entry, is that for Macs, I'm using a PC?.) I restored it from the backup and everything looked good. I had hope, the final step says to sync it and when I did, I had the exact same problem. It spun, went quickly through only 3 steps (even though there were 7 sync steps with my old laptop) and nothing changed. It clearly didn't sync.
So, I had an idea that I would back up everything by right clicking in the left pane and forcing a back up on the new computer, and then erasing the entire phone and then restoring from the backup I just made to see if that would make a difference. So, after I tried that and it restored, it was weird. All of my settings were there. Some folders were there, my pictures were there, but all of my apps, folders, music and video was missing and it still wouldn't sync. So, then I had to plug it back into my old laptop and do a restore from there to get that stuff back.
Shouldn't I get a message when I plug the iPhone into the new laptop saying this phone is connected to another computer? I tried "Reset Warning Messages" but it doesn't do anything. At this point, I don't care if I lose some of the stuff from my iPhone (texts, etc)...but I want it to sync to the new computer because my old laptop is on its death bed.
So frustrating, all of my iTunes content is on the new computer, the only piece that is missing is getting it to "talk" to the iPhone. Times like this I wish I wasn't a poor teacher and could afford to get a nice Mac laptop.

I think you will have to do a complete restore--you will lose any info added since last backup. Connect phone to computer, select it in souce list. Next, click on Summary tab, click Restore. In the next dialog box, click Restore--your phone will be erased and the latest software will be installed. Click agree to terms and phone will restart. Then you will see the phone setup screen--click on Restore from Backup and select the most recent backup. Obviously, this will only work if you have a backup on the computer. If not, check Set up as New Phone, click continue, then wait for the process to finish.
