How old guys have fun

OK, this topic ought to be broad enough, and some of the folks around here, old enough, that this one could carry on a while. Just tell us how you have fun!
I'll start...
My wife and I flew down to Southern California for the day yesterday. The focus of the trip was to meet my niece's new son, the first boy born in our family in 42 years. Of course I wanted to play with his big sister too, because we would not want her to feel left out. And I wanted to get lots of pictures.
I didn't get most of the ones I really wanted - but shooting children is every bit as difficult as I was warned it would be. One mistake is that I waited until the little boy was too awake to get the peaceful shots of him and his father. Oh well, next time. So, while the 800 shots I did take, and a few videos, are being copied over to my hard drive, and being backed up to an external drive, I thought I would share these two pics that were taken by my niece.
This, my friends, is one way that an old guy has fun.

Oh, Steven ... that's the best way an old guy like us can have fun! LOVE the little ones ... holding one while sleeping is such an amazing high. The missus is a fantastic portraitist  for little ones & children/families ... putting a client's unhappy little one to sleep while they're ordering images with the missus has been a blast for me at times too. When the babe starts crying during an ordering session and they think they've got to leave, I just tell 'em give the tyke to me ... get a weird look but they normally do hand me the babe ... and in five/ten minutes there's a sleeping child in my arms when I come back and they wonder what in the world I've done with their child. As ... they can't do that like that.
Well ... somehow I attune to little babie's thoughts and ideas better than adults, I think. I've been to quite a few events at church or pro photo confabs with someone having a tuckered & sleep-fighting little one that other folks just say "give that babe to Neil!" ... and ... voila ... I've got a sleepy babe in arms, and no interest whatever in giving it back 'til mom/dad need to leave.
No grandkids ... so I love up all our younger friend's little ones any time I can. What a joy ...
