Yeah touch owners... I was just wondering a few things...
    How old is your touch?
Have you ever had to send it in for a new battery?
The reason i ask is because i just bought a new 40 gig touch, but i'm woried because you can't replace the battery as easily as my micro battery.

Ive had my Zen Touch for about 2 months and the battery has been good...but its yet to face its biggest test of lasting throughout my 2 hours and 30 minutes of a plane trip to Hong Kong also it has to last an extra 3 hours for my time at Heathrow..so lets hope it can last 5 hours and 30 minutes at least!!! But i never get 24 hours more like 8 realistically maybe even less...but no battery problems and the sound has been great!!!

  • How long has your Zen Micro been in working conditi

Just another question... how long have you guys had your Zen Micro's without problems, or without any disfunctioning (dont think thi is the right word but w.e) problems. I am hearing all of these bad things about the Micro and i've only had it for week, im worried about my Micro's fate.

don't worry about it. your micro will do just fine. Mines has been workin' flawlessly since i got it 5 months ago.
You have to remember, these forums are like an emergence room for mp3 players. All you will hear here is negati've stuff.

  • How was Your Zen Micro Packag

I'm trying to see how common it is for the new Zen Micro design (the unit with an "Arrow" by itself on the back button instead of the text "Back") to be packaged in the old packaging (a cardboard box with a picture of an old text "Back" button unit on the front.) The newer packaging appears to be a clear plastic enclosure that allows you to see the unit without opening the package. So far I have only seen this packaging with black colored units.
Thus, I ask the following questions about the unit you own:
What color is your Zen Micro?
How was it packaged? (Cardboard box or Clear plastic Enclosure)
What version is it's (One with an "Arrow" or with the text "Back" for the back button)
    Where did you purchase it's
    When did you purchase it's
    Thanks.

  • A way how to fix the Zen Micro head phone jack prob

Hi! I am one of the many people that purchased a Zen Micro MP3 player, I loved it until around 6 months of use, an audio shorting problem with the head phone jack, started to repeat it's self every time, that I would plug my head phone's into the Zen Micro head phone jack. After awhile, I was tired of this problem, so I just decided to never use it again, unless I could find out if the maker of the Zen Micro had a repair service. I noticed that some people had their Micro's replaced a few times under the warranty that is included with the player. I also noticed that some one created a way to fix this problem, but I wanted to see if I could find an easier way to fix the problem. Well I did end up finding an easier way to fix the problem, this is what I did.
Absolutely in all means I can't be held responsible / reliable for any unforseen thing / things, that you may or could, do to the Zen Micro, by following the instructions, which I provided. By trying what I did by following the instructions, which I provided you; you accept all responsibility to any thing / things, that may or could happen to the Zen Micro.
    The Instructions:
I took a stapler pressed it down to get a used staple then I carefully inserted it in the outer part of the plastic head phone jack ring. Then I pressed the rest of the staple flat against the Zen micro. And Now I get great sound, it is at least better than, the way it was before I inserted the staple. I would suggest to always remove the staple. When you connect the Zen Micro to a computer, charging device, or any other device other than a pair of head phones. You understand that if you leave the staple inserted in the Zen Micro and don't remove it. While you have it connected to a computer, charging device, or any other device, or devices, even a pair of head phones, and some thing happens, you can't hold me responsible.

  • When you order your Zen Micro, make sure you know what you're getti

I recently about a 5gb Zen Micro Mp3 player and went through a lot of trouble to get it, but I learned a lot. Read on:
First, there are two types of packaging for Zen Micros, one that includes only the player, the cords, the manual, the software, a pouch and the battery, and another that also has a case with stand and belt clip attachments. Most of the retailers are selling both for the same price and many of them have them both in stock at the same time. The boxes are two different sizes and the larger one (almost 0'by 7') has the case and attachments. Get your money's worth and ask what's the box.
Second, NEVER NEVER NEVER buy from a company in British Columbia, Canada called Can Computer (www.cancomputer.com). It is BY FAR the WORST retailer I've EVER come into contact with!
I ordered from this company after doing a little bit of research and they seemed like a decent company. I was WRONG. I ordered my player. A day later they called me to tell me that the colour I wanted was sold out but hadn't been posted on the website, so I picked a new colour. The company only ships by reg mail so after a week of waiting, I got my mp3 player in the mail.
Now, when you buy the player from a decent retailer, as I did afterwards from The Source by Circuit City, the box is rapped in plastic and the inside box is taped. Everything in the box is packaged and sealed including the battery and the software. Everything is neatly placed in the box and the player is untouched and is protected by plastic stri
    ps.
The battery is outside the player. This is the way they should all be according to Creative Labs and all the other retailers I've spoken to.
When I received my supposedly "new" player from Can Computer, there was no outside plastic, the seal on the inside of the box was broken. The outside AND inside was covered in dirt. The inside contents looked like they had been dumped out onto a dirty floor and thrown back in again. Everything was opened, including the software. The battery was already inside the player and it was covered in dirt. When I took it out of the player, there was a piece of tape (the kind of scotch tape you get on a roll) holding the top of the battery together and the casing was warped. My manual was mangled. On top of that, there were parts missing from my box. I received the box that should have included the casing and the attachments. Neither were there. Also missing were my warranty cards and the casing to the manual. The cords that I receieved were not creative merchandise. As you can imagine, I wasn't very happy.
When I called the company, the Sales Manager was incredibly rude to me. He refused to apologise and seemed to make every effort to deter me from getting refund. He tried to tell me that it was normal for the player to arri've that way and that tape on the battery was something that was normal. He also said he would only refund my shipping costs to send it back to him if he saw it and believed that I was telling the truth. He was so rude that when I explained to him what happened, he had the nerve to say, "So, what do you want me to do about it's". To prove my point, I called the retailers around my city and asked them what the box, battery and player should look like. I also called Creative. All of them said that what I got from Can Computer was abnormal. It was only then, when I proved that they'd sent me used and defecti've products and demanded that I be given a full refund, that the Sales Manager of Can Computer agree with me.
This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. DO NOT buy ANYTHING from this company!!!
Do your research and if you can buy one from a retailer in your area, do so. It's worth it. Futureshop will match any internet retailer's price, and The Source gives over the counter replacement.

  • How I got my zen micro to wo

I bought a Zen micro for my wife for Xmas. Last night i was having the worst time trying to get it to play nice with my computer.
    P4 w/ Xp home sp2.
It just wouldn't work. I tried reinstalling the different software 4 times. Finally i loaded it up on my old computer ( trying to phase it out)
    P3 w/ Win ME
It works like a champ on that pc, ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEMS!! I was able to update the firmware on this pc.
So i retried it on the new PC, still nothing. Then today i was goofing around and it worked. It seems I have to start up th Zen micro explorer first, wait for it to tell me its not connected, then connect the device. Won't work otherwise if its not in that order. I have yet to load the other software, still debating if I'm going to or not.
My opinions of the Micro so far are so-so. It works fine on a comp I don't want to be using. I have to do a song and dance for it to work on MY pc. It sounds great! Battery life is yet to be determined. Will update the thread once we have had it a while.
If you are having problems similiar to mine, you can try what i have and hopefully it will help. Comments and suggestions welcome.

I'm not sure if it will help but there is some general connection troubleshooting advice here.

  • How To Turn Off Zen Micro

i tried holding the play button like the ipod for 4 seconds and it doesnt turns off. can someone help me?Message Edited by Money_King on 07-4-2005 04:47 PM

The Zen Micro has a power switch on the top, nexto the headphone jack. If you slide and hold it towards the power icon, it'll turn off/on. If you slide it the other way it's in the Locked position (so the buttons won't respond, if you want to put it in your pocket or bag for instance).

  • How to stop your Zen from locking up

If you're sick of your Zen locking up each and every time you try to delete files from it, you can always do what I did. Hold it firmly in one hand and see how hard you can hit it with your other hand before the screen doesn't work anymore. Just a hint... not that hard. I forget what I paid for that 32G Zen, but believe me, it was worth every penny knowing I'll never have to deal with that piece of **bleep** again. It's been a horror show since the day I bought it. Creative... you've done your job well. You've made absolutely sure I'll never give you another dime for your crappy products. Every single problem I ever had with that retched thing could have been fixed with a single firmware update, but you don't seem to give a rat's ass about your paying customers. I guess I'll just have to go back to my way better iPod.
    The Lights Still On

So you finally smashed the thing did you? WELL DONE! How did it feel? It's an expensi've way to release your frustrations but at this point though I'm sure you don't care...because now you are free...be FREE! LOL!
    Awesome...this made my day!
(just saw your picture too on page 5 of this thread: http://forum.stage.creative.com/showthread.php?t=7233) (I guess I could have clicked on the "lights still on link too in your original post...duh! Either way, OMFG!!! Thanks for the expensi've laugh...the blue light of hope is classic!!!!) Too bad you didn't video it and fire it up on YouTube...it would have went viral!
    Good luck with your Cowon!

  • How to install a zen micro 6gb on windows 2000

Can anybody help, I am trying to install the micro 6gb on windows 2000 pro.
The device is reconised by windows but everytime it searches for a driver it cannot find one.
I have downloaded and run the latest driver install pack from creative but still windows reports it cannot find a driver.
    I have searched the following
    Creative CD
    Windows update
Creative directory where the drivers are stored
Each time it reports driver not found.
I have also reset the mp3 but all to no avail.
Tried it on 2 machines both with the same results.
Anybody help with this please ?

Also what firmware is on the player? It should be listed under Information, or System Information I believe its called...
If its a number beginning with 2, such as 2.20.05 then you will have problems getting it to work under Windows 2000. Firmware 2.20.05 and any other v2 firmware is designed for Windows XP Service Pack and higher systems. To get it working on Windows 2000/98/ME requires you to have an "Easy CD" which normally comes inside the box for all Creative players designed for Windows XP systems only. If you did not get this CD then you cannot use the player under Windows 2000.
But thats just if you have a v2 firmware. If its a v then hopefully what SSR said might work.

  • Has your zen micro hung/hanged befo

    hi all,
i just got my micro about a week agao, and my boss wants to transfer my file sinto her laptop, so i used my removable disk more to copy up till 2G of songs and i went on to put in more files in the 3G partion. But it got filled up so i cancelled the transfer but now my player is hanged. as in i can only lets the lights go on when i touch the touchpad, i cannot turn it off or lock it, upon my friends' suggestions, i took out the darned battery and put in back in, i did it a total of 5 times and its still hanged. is it a common problem? or something bigger? i'm planning to bring it back to where i bought it at a creative store, will it help?
    thanks is advance.

Its not to common a problem from what I've seen. I've had mine hang in a few transfers but its always gone back to normal after disconnecting it from the USB port, though I've normally still done a disk cleanup afterwords just to make sure.
You can let creative know, and I'm sure they probably already have something similar down, but it never hurts to add to the stats of someone whose had that problem, as it can only boost the odds of them looking deeper into the issue.

  • My Zen Micro is not work

It won't turn on, the only way i can turn it on is by plugging in the charger, or the USB connection. Does that mean i should get a new one? or is it something that i can fix with very minimal cost?
    thanks

If it works when attached to USB or wall charger, you may have a battery problem.
How old is your Zen Micro?
I replaced the battery on my 2 year old one last month- it didn't cost much and was very easy to do.
