Yeah touch owners... I was just wondering a few things...
How old is your touch?
Have you ever had to send it in for a new battery?
The reason i ask is because i just bought a new 40 gig touch, but i'm woried because you can't replace the battery as easily as my micro battery.

Ive had my Zen Touch for about 2 months and the battery has been good...but its yet to face its biggest test of lasting throughout my 2 hours and 30 minutes of a plane trip to Hong Kong also it has to last an extra 3 hours for my time at Heathrow..so lets hope it can last 5 hours and 30 minutes at least!!! But i never get 24 hours more like 8 realistically maybe even less...but no battery problems and the sound has been great!!!

Mine's about 2 weeks in.

5 months, but rma do to a firmware upgrade that didnt finish. Had I not tried this, all would still be great. But... today there is a new BLACK Micro sitting here looking at me. I cant be without tunes at work, so when my silver Micro comes back, this one will be my wifes.

don't worry about it. your micro will do just fine. Mines has been workin' flawlessly since i got it 5 months ago.

How to stop your Zen from locking up

If you're sick of your Zen locking up each and every time you try to delete files from it, you can always do what I did. Hold it firmly in one hand and see how hard you can hit it with your other hand before the screen doesn't work anymore. Just a hint... not that hard. I forget what I paid for that 32G Zen, but believe me, it was worth every penny knowing I'll never have to deal with that piece of **bleep** again. It's been a horror show since the day I bought it. Creative... you've done your job well. You've made absolutely sure I'll never give you another dime for your crappy products. Every single problem I ever had with that retched thing could have been fixed with a single firmware update, but you don't seem to give a rat's ass about your paying customers. I guess I'll just have to go back to my way better iPod.

Putting big files onto your zen tou

Hey there,
yesterday I installed the zen touch playsforsure firmware & explorer and of course tried to get some files onto the zen. Pictures and small files worked, but when I tried to put a file of 3,5 GB on it, the zen gave an "unknown error" and it didn't do anything. Why isn't this possible?
(And, no, the zen is not full , i've got 5 GB left)

Although I'm not sure about what the exact size limit is for the file system I take it its 2gb , but if you haven't already done so Microsoft has a hotfix, for MTP players, for files which encounter an error when attempting to transfer it from the player to the computer.

How was Your Zen Micro Packag

I'm trying to see how common it is for the new Zen Micro design (the unit with an "Arrow" by itself on the back button instead of the text "Back") to be packaged in the old packaging (a cardboard box with a picture of an old text "Back" button unit on the front.) The newer packaging appears to be a clear plastic enclosure that allows you to see the unit without opening the package. So far I have only seen this packaging with black colored units.
Thus, I ask the following questions about the unit you own:
What color is your Zen Micro?
How was it packaged? (Cardboard box or Clear plastic Enclosure)
What version is it's (One with an "Arrow" or with the text "Back" for the back button)

How do you Save a copy of your Zen player's content before formatting? I have no clue how? I don't want to go through the trouble of re-downloading everything back to my player? Someone Please Help me!!!

If you reformat the player you'll be erasing all the flash memory. There is no way to avoid re-downloading your content since it isn't going to reappear by magic.
Normally the PC you use as your primary media library has a copy of all your ripped/downloaded stuff already. I don't see why you're opposed to syncing it back to the player after you reformatting. ?Regardless, if the player isn't frozen or otherwise misbehaving you should be able to drag-and-drop copy to contents to a handy PC with enough space. If you have DRM-controlled content at minimum you'll have to re-sync the associated licenses to make them play again once you copy them back since you can't retrieve the DRM keys off the player. It probably won't prevent you from copying the encrypted files themselves although it may; DRM systems almost uni'versally support a "No Copy" flag for content on the player to prevent copying it back the rights holder chooses to flag the content that way.
If you're just updating the firmware of the player the contents are unlikely to be damaged in the process (but it is always good to have a backup just in case).
If your player isn't misbehaving one is left wondering why are you want to reformat it's Doing a "clean up" will often fix most issues of corrupted files and mangled metadata.

you know u've been hit with the headphone jack problem when the music channels out of the left and right ears and if you wiggle your jack (depending on which way) you music will fade in and out and become distorted, its happened to me twice already, although my new micro seems much more firm thent he last three.

How To: Get Your Creative Zen Working With Vis

I am an owner of the now outdated Zen 20gb HD0005. Upgraded to Vista Business recently and have not been able to get the player working, the installation cd wouldnt work and neither would the updates at uk.creative.com There is a way! Go to http://us.creative.com/support/downl...ame=Windows+XP (from the US Creative download archi'ves), download the driver to your desktop or where ever. The driver is originally for XP, however, once it is downloaded right click the setup file and select properties. In the new window go to the Compatibility tab and select: Compatible with Windows XP Service Pack 2And, at the bottom, check that the box next to 'Run As An Administrator' is also ticked. Click Apply and then OK and run the setup. It should now (at 67% through the installation) update drivers (this may seem to hang, please be patient!) and then will ask you to reconnect your player. Unplug it, click ok, then plug it in at the end of installation, go to my computer and you should hopefully see that your Zen is under 'Other Devices' I hope this is help to some of you with the same problems as I had!

it seems that it now detects the player but wont run in organiser, only in Explorer. Only thing i can think of is burning songs to disc and then adding them to comp again, unless anyone else has any suggestions?

How to protect your IP from skype resolvers!

This is a guide on how to stop your Skype username resolved and your IP found.
NOTE: This is for PC machines not for other devices (Unless you can locate to this area on your device, then do so and see if it works then great!), a side note if you have 2 devices logged into skype (I recommend only having one.) if you have to have 2 or you cannot change these settings for both devices then unfortunately they will be able to get the IP from the device that is not protected unless you sign out of the device that you cannot change the connection settings on.
Follow these steps carefully.
STEP 1- Tools > Options > Advanced > Connection
On the top of the Skype application there should be headers, Skype, Contacts, Conversation, ect. Navigate to "Tools" and press, then go to "Options" after that locate to the "Advanced" header and find "Connection", press this and you will have settings ready to be changed.

STEP 2- Read carefully.
Follow these steps from the top of the settings to the bottom and you should do fine.
1. "Use port [32535] for incoming connections."
2. Check "Use port 80 and 443 for additional incoming connections."
3. Select "HTTPS" from the dropdown menu.
4. Put the Host as [127.0.0.1] and the Port as [40031].
5. Uncheck "Enable Proxy Authentication" if it is checked.
6. Uncheck "Enable uPnP" if it is checked.
7. Check "Allow direct connections to your contacts only."
8. Then press "Save" in the bottom right corner.

STEP 3- Finishing up step 1-3. Changing IP.
Now that you have saved the editing of connection settings you should now sign out of your skype account, quit Skype and end any Skype.exe's running in the backround using Task Manager. If you do not have any knowledge on it, I recommend just restarting your PC machine for safer measures.
When that is done this people most likley will still be able to get the IP address you have after changing them settings but if you change your IP address they will still have the old IP, not your new one. Now you are probably thinking "How do I change my IP then?", well Step 4.
STEP 4- Changing your IP address.
To change your IP there is two things you can do to my knowledge. To start CLICK HERE this will give you your IP address write or type that down somewhere so you can tell if your IP has changed later. First way to change your IP: Allot of ISP's (Internet Service Providers) these days will allow you to turn off your Networking Modem/Router (In Australia atleast.), for an extended duration of time (5-10+ minutes.) which would then change your IP this is called Dynamic. After doing this check back on the website or refresh the page and see if your IP has changed, if it has then you are done. You are safe from having your skype username resolved if your IP hasn't changed. follow the, Second way to change your IP: Simply call up support and ask them a way to change your IP address or look on online support, they will surely help guide you through and help you change it. Just tell them that people are DDOS'ing or are doing things with your IP online (explain what it is) or are going to and you want to protect yourself from it, that is if they ask why. If they do not allow you to change your IP then there is nothing I can do, unless you want to research another way on how to do it. One way or another most of the time there should be a way somewhere out there on how to change your IP just research on it. After your IP being changed you should be scott free if you have followed these steps correctly. To test use some Skyper resolving websites and use your own Skype username, if my guide has worked it shouldnt give a IP
I really suck at English, sorry about how messy this is. I found out how to stop people from resolving my IP and I wanted other people to know about this really badly. If you find this guide not understandable please tell me, I can always make a youtube video and post it on this guide or edit it.
You could also use a proxy to stop being resolved but it lowers your connection speeds for a gamer like myself this really affects me, that is why I posted this.

I apologies for the late reply, but if you read the whole thing your problem should be solved. If the person that is retrieving your I.P has gotten it before my steps, he then has your I.P, no matter if you stop anyone else from retrieving it, you need to change your I.P. I personally have a dynamic I.P so I can turn my router off to 5+ minutes and my I.P will change. This way when they then try to resolve my Skype, and try to retrieve my new I.P they are left blocked. There are also other ways to get your I.P, via streaming Skype calls he can get your I.P directly. You can always ring up your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask them for help on how to change your I.P address. You can also look around on the internet on how to set up a proxy, proxies pretty much defeat all the DDOS'ers that are wannabe hackers.

Well, there is a way that takes a little bit longer, but its almost full proof. The older Apple computers use what they Gestalt IDs, but newer ones don't. The newer computers like the iBook use Machine IDs, like PowerBook6,7 (iBook G4 Mid 2005). Now the way to find the Machine ID on your computer is to go to /Applications/Utlities/System Profiler and look under Hardware. You should see under Machine Model (for the iBook) PowerBook,. You can find more Machine IDs and Gestalt IDs at The Apple Museum.

Just for the pourpose of sharing knowledge, even if your regular backup strategy does not include rman, you can still issue this command. I have created a just recently cloned database out of the seed, it works too.
