How on earth do I get rid of these phantom tracks?

I'm having problems with songs I downloaded on computer and tried to transfer to phone. The "ghost" songs I'm seeing on my iPhone have a symbol on them that's a circle with a square in the middle, looking like a stop button. Picture below. They are a duplicate for working tracks. I'm able to click on them, but the song doesn't play. The time stays at 0:00.
1. I can't swipe to delete like other tracks.
2. I need to go into iTunes and check the manual load section.
3. In some cases, the original download of the track on my laptop had an error, and created the issue on my iPhone. However, I don't think I've had a problem with all the tracks coming up with this icon.
4. I've tried deleting the working tracks, syncing and then reloading...but the working tracks don't delete.
Any ideas? It's driving me nuts. I have a couple dozen tracks I've purchased off iTunes, and when they are on the iPhone, these duplicates show up, too. So far, I haven't been able to make any progress. Next attempt will be to totally purge music from my phone when I get home. If that doesn't work, I'm doing a reset. Not excited about that idea.

Uncheck Sync music - Remove- click apple
Recheck sync music -All songs or how ever you have is setup - apply - and check out the device.

The trojan also installs a watchdog process that ensures the victim's (that's you!) DNS records stay modified on a minute-by-minute basis.

Although any content that you download has the possibility of containing malicious software, practising a bit of care will generally keep you free from the consequences of anything like the DNSChanger trojan.

2. Check out what you are downloading. Mac OS X asks you for you administrator password to install applications for a reason! Only download media and applications from well-known and trusted Web sites. If you think you may have downloaded suspicious files, read the installer packages and make sure they are legit. You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

If you used iTunes to get the photos on the phone, then use the same iTunes and uncheck the music you don't want and do another sync.

I use Google. My browser is set with Google.ca as my homepage and Google is my default search engine.

You will get them on IE. I suggest you also contact Google support, as this is also a problem on their end. I too have everything set to Google on both Firefox, Opera, IE, and Chrome and the only one not getting the annoying banners is surprising Google Chrome.

If the shows are in fact still on the pad, they will be found in the videos app, not the music or I tunes app. Look there and see if they are still there.
If you don't see them there, go to the searchlight screen ( farthest left home page) and type in the name of one of the shows. If it is on the pad, hiding somewhere, this will find it.
If they are not there, they should not be using up space.
To get them back onto your pad, plug in and sync again. Make sure you transfer purchases first. Before you sync, take a look at the video tab in your I tunes, and check what you want and don't want synced.

Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

iPhoto 9.6 cannot open iPhoto Libraries on CD/DVD. The iPhoto Library needs to be on a writable storage. Copy the iPhoto library from the disk to a folder in your Pictures folder. And then run the iPhoto Library Upgrader on that copy, see this link: iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
