How on earth is it possible that Firefox uses 40% of my RAM, doing absolutely NOTHING?
I start Firefox and my RAM usage immediately goes to 40%. No other apps open, all Firefox add-ons disabled, no sites open in tabs, nothing. I have 3 Gig RAM, that's not much, but it's more than sufficient for browsers like Chrome and Opera. I really prefer Firefox, but as soon as I have just two tabs open, my RAM goes to 90% and my CPU usage goes to at least 80%. It then doesn't take long till it crashes. Although the Crash-report "promises" feedback, I never ever got any. . .
I realize Firefox is a free app, so perhaps I shouldn't be complaining, but hey, all browsers are free these days and I would hate to go back to Chrome.
What can I do to reduce Firefox's use of resources? As I'm typing this it is using 250,000 K of RAM, basically doing nothing, accept keeping this one support-tab open.
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Luis, I think it is theoretically possible to do it if one had FCP7 installed. Take a detour from Pr to FCP7 and then use 7toX to bring into FCPX. However I doubt that the project would make the trip completely intact annd because I have an old version of Pr, I'm not really in a position to test how well (or if) it would work. 1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
Make sure that you move your iTunes library from the old computer to the new one as well for all of your music.

Whenever I open a Private Browsing window, it closes all of my non-private windows until I end the private session. Is there a setting or add-on that will make it so I can have both private and non-private windows open? I am trying to watch a video for my thesis (http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/static/special_report/1999/09/99/iron_curtain/timelines/czech_2025.stm), so I downloaded the latest version of realplayer. When I tried to watch the video for the first time with realplayer, a firefox installation window popped up asking me to accept or decline realplayer's access to something (I don't exactly remember.) I chose to be safe and decline, because I thought the video would play anyway. However, after unistalling and reinstalling again, the video will still not play with realplayer and I can't refind the firefox window to click 'accept' this time. Help! This is very frustrating.

If Firefox disabled some add-ons (especially extensions), it likely is because they include a list of compatible Firefox versions and haven't yet been updated for Firefox 5. If they worked on Firefox 4, there is a good chance they will work on Firefox 5.
You can force Firefox to ''ignore'' add-on version restrictions by (what else) installing an add-on. Then you can test whether the add-ons important to you actually work in Firefox 5.

I have also had problems starting Firefox. I click the icon and nothing happens. That problem is intermittent. The Windows message that Firefox is still running after I have closed the Firefox browser keeps occurring and I do not know how to remedy this.
The one thing that is locking up fire fox is the plug ins. You have to check to see if a plug in is locking up firefox first of all.
To see the processes press : CTRL+ALT+DEL. then click the tab marked "Processes" Then look for Fire Fox and click on it. Click the Yes button when the warning box show up.
Then do the say for "Plug-in Container" I believe that is called.
this is because all ads are now flash ads or video ads. They lock my computer up all the time.
When the CTRL+ALT+DEL are pressed. Keep this minimized and you can see if your computer is running at 100% memory near the clock. If the box is totally green, you are running a lot of programs on your system. Check the processes and find out what is not needed. Also watch your virtual memory. Rule of thumb is 1.5x total memory.
Then now it would be able to shut down the computer the right way.

Playing with Arch linux with a view to ditching windows completely, but came across one very small issue. One where I have tried to find the answer on the wiki and using the forum search
Anyway, I installed firefox using pacman, no problems. Then I discovered Yaught (can never spell it right) and found a proper branded firefox package on there.
I run:
sudo pacman -R firefox
and it is rightly removed. The issue is it still seems to keep the installation files on the system.
How do I completely remove all the installation files?

Some thoughts on making use of the cache...
'-Sc' keeps the currently installed pkges and cleans only uninstalled/old pkges from cache, its a good practise to do it everytime *before* you upgrade. Doing that ensures youll always be able to downgrade to a working set of pkges if theres something wrong with an upgrade. -
I changed the password used to access my gmail account. Thunderbird is still using the old password to access the account. How do I change the password that Thunderbird is using. The last time this happened I ended up creating a new Thunderbird account for gmail. Creating the new Thunderbird account at least let me enter the new password. I really don't want to have three Thunderbird accounts for the same gmail account.
Please do not respond with suggestions about using Password Manager. I do not use it and do not intend to start. I looked and none of my Thunderbird passwords are displayed there. All I want to do is change the password in Thunderbird. If Thunderbird does not have a feature allowing you to change it's passwords, one should be added.This is the only way.

If I understand correctly, you have Continuity setup and you can make calls on the Mac but it goes to the wrong phone, and not to yours. That says to me that the Apple ID being used for Continuity has a phone number other than your own linked to it. Use this article to check what Apple ID is using Continutiy on your computer:

If that is the wrong iCloud account then sign out and use the one you wish that has the phone number linked to it.

How to Build a DC project that makes use of other Projects??
Hi all,
I am trying to build a DC project that makes use of two other projects in my workspace, one is a java class project, the other one is a EJB project where it takes care of database access.
if i right click on the Application and use "Deploy new Archive and Run" it deploys and runs ok.
but if i right click on the DC project and use "Development Component -> Build", it gives me a lot of errors like below, as if it doesn't know where my reference projects are, but i have set them into my java build path.
Can anyone give me some advice?

by making my EJB project a DC project and put the public parts into my Used DC, i reduce the build errors down to 2 (from more than 10).
maybe i m not making my EJB project into DC properly

How to find all oaf pages that are using a table in their VOs
Hello everyone,
I need to findout all the View Objects and Entity Objects that are using a table lets say A. Is there a smart way to find out all the VOs and EO's that are using my table?

SunnyTechnically there would be only one EO for your table (if its Oracle code). VOs contain queries and there might be many which refer the table.
One option I can think of is doing a table name search in the various (EO and VO) directories on JAVATOP. Its the XML (99% cases) that would have the queries. Rest 1% having dynamic VOs, it would be difficult to determine.

Firefox uses more than 2GB RAM

I'm using HP laptop with OS Windows 7 Professional edition.
I observed in the task bar that firefox consumes more than 2GB of ram just with 3 or 4 tabs.
Could you please let me know what are the memory tweaks or steps to reduce the memory consumption???

Do your tabs include for instance massive webmail databases, or High Definition video.
If you key into the location bar ''about:memory'' you will open an interactive page about memory usage, that should be more informative than the Windows task Manager.
