How other email server (sendmail) will make connection to Exchange 2010 mutli role server.

Hi,
We have 2 Exchange 2010 multi role server and one load balancer for Cas array.
Now we do understand that DAG will be using for database and CAS can be in HA mode via Load balancer.
Now question is, we do have other non-microsoft email server with same smtp address so when this sendmail server will try to make connection to exchange 2010, which server name/ip we need to give them.
Will it be DAG ip/name or do we need to give both server IP.
Amit Rawat | MCITP - Exchange 2007/2010| CCNA |MCSE- 2003| Lync 2010|http://blog.amitrawat.net

you can use whatever Ip's are listening on port 25 on the 2010 hub transports.
If your load balancer is listening on port 25 and balancing that (probably only a https loadbalancer?) you can use that ip.
If not you can put your 2 cas server IP's in the smart host connector from the sendmail box.
It certainly wont be the DAG ip as the mailbox role has nothing to do with the hub transport.
Foremost i don't have separate CAS here, I do have 2 Exchange(cas/HT/MBX) and DAG is configured.
when sendmail send email to Exchange i need to use some common smtp address to point these servers, so that if one goes down sendmail server can still make connection via that common name.
i can not put two name space(since these 2 exchange are HT server as well) for sendmail server. Any suggestion .

    Hi,
Did you get any error messages?
Do you have Outlook Anywhere and autodiscovery set up properly?
Can you ping the Exchange server?
    Please use Test Email AutoConfiguration
to test if the Autodiscover service is configured properly. See:

We can also use the remote connectivity analyzer to troubleshoot the issue:

In addition, turn off your firewall and anti-virus to check the result.
    Hope this helps.

  • C3-00 - problems with adding an "Other" email serv...

I have had a c3-00 for about a month and successfully set up my work email account (under "Other" email services).  It worked fine until a few days ago, then whenever I tried to log in it would try for a while before returning to my listing of email accounts, without any error message.
I therefore deleted this email service and tried to add it again as an "other" mail service.  Having entered the email address and password and pressed "sign in" , it just says it is trying to sign in, does not ask for a server address, and then gives me the error message "Could not sign in.Try again"  I have tried other email addresses at this point and the same thing happens.  I am never asked for a server address, which is what I would expect, and what happened when I originally (successfully) loaded this email account.
I have restored the factory settings, taken the battery and sim out,  but this has made no difference.
Would welcome any advice on how to fix this as my primary reason for buying this phone was to access work mails on this "other" email service.
    Many thanks

There is no PSP option on C3 phone,or on Zyxel AP.
But,in Zyxel settings i found that when i changing chanels, than i refreshing connection between phone and router! But,that isn't possible to do on automatic way, only manualy.
I set WPA2-PSK security mode and under that, there is Group Key Update Timer, default set - 1800 seconds.I change it on 10 seconds and that was the hit! Group Key Update Timer will create a new code every time when timer expired. That new code (security reason) refresh connection every 10 seconds and does not allow phone to sleep.
    Solved!
But,Nokia still have this problem (not only C3) and i hope so that they will fix this in some new software version.

  • Lync 2013 MX (on windows rt) will not connect to Lync 2010 enterprise server

Both internal and external (through edge) will not connect. I will put in the SIP address, try to connect and it will ask for the logon credentials (domain is different from SIP domain) A minute later it will state that it was unable to sign on. When I enable
logs I get a massive log file (~etl.bak) that is garbled and snooper will not read.
I have had no problem signing in users with Lync for the ipad, windows phone, or android devices. Does anyone know a way to troubleshoot this further?

Make sure you use the following to log on
    SIP Address : [email protected]
    Account : Domain\user
    - Belgian Unified Communications Community : http://www.pro-lync.be - MCM/MVP/MCT
Tried all the combinations, but I heard a rumor that the company has messed-up or incomplete DNS entries and won't fix it. On the Lync desktop versions I can work around this by using advanced connection settings (which don't exist on the WinRT/Store
app) to specify manual internal and external names.
Also tried entering sip.company.com and sipexternal.company.com in hosts file but that doesn't work either. that was suggested elsewhere as a fallback mechanism, but it doesn't seem to work when potentially invalid SRV entries already exist.
What I really need is for Microsoft to support the advanced connection settings, there's no other way around that.
    Two questions:
    1) Anyone know how to get access to the logging information which is enabled in the options of the Windows Store app? It's a long shot but maybe I can find somebody in this big company who will want to correct it.
    2) Do we use the usual MS Connect to make bug/feature requests for the store apps too? For many years now a lot of products have been missing from there in favor of other feedback systems like User Voice (e.g. Windows Phone and Visual Studio). So you never
know exactly which is the right place to report such stuff nowadays (shame because Connect seemed like a universal solution at the start).

    Hi,
Thanks for posting in the forum.
Regarding the current issue, since you have recreated the user profile without any issue, I suspect that it’s mainly caused by the network issue. At this time, please first check the TCP/IP
configurations as Larry mentioned. Then, please also refer to the article below for details about how to troubleshoot Outlook connectivity issue.

  • 7th Gen Non and iMac appear on each others device list but will not connect

My new 7th Gen nano and imac appear in each others blue tooth devices list but will not connect.   I've tried several time and have reset the nano twice. All suggestions greatfully received.
    Al

    Hey Al,
I read that your iPod nano is compatible with the following Bluetooth items: headsets, speakers, and hands-free systems in some automobiles. These are the profiles it supports:
    Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)
With the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile, you can stream high-quality audio (stereo or mono) from one device to another over a Bluetooth connection. Use it to play music wirelessly from iPod nano to a wireless headset or a compatible car audio system.
    Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP)
With this profile, you can remotely control playback functions on the iPod nano from compatible devices (commonly Bluetooth devices that use the A2DP profile). iPod nano works with the pause, play, stop, next track, and previous track commands.
    Bluetooth Low Energy (BT LE)
Use low-powered Bluetooth accessories with the Bluetooth Low Energy profile. iPod nano works with Bluetooth Smart Heart Rate Monitors.
via: iPod nano (7th generation): Supported Bluetooth profiles
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5479
That sounds like it might be why you're having difficulty connecting. If you want to sync your iPod nano with iTunes, I'd read through this document:

  • Like many others my Ipad 3 will not connect to Itunes

I have uninstalled Itunes, rebooted, uninstalled and reinstalled the Apple services. The device is visable in Device manager but it will not connect to Itunes. My Iphone 5 works correctly. Any Ideas out there?

This is about iTunes on a Windows 8.1 workstation. 16GB RAM, High end AMD processor, Blah, Blah...
Pluging the IPad in is recognized by the PC. There is the sound and the iPad appears in Device manager. It behaves as expected when unlugged. But Itunes (Latest) is unresponsive to it. As stated above my Iphone behaves just as it should so the services are operational. If I plug it into another PC it works just fine.

  • Exchange 2013 CAS server connection to Exchange 2010 Mailbox server

    Hi Guys,
I have a quick question i am planning to upgrade my infra from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013 and i have come across a small question, my infra looks likes below
3 Exchange server (CAS+ HT + MBX roles) Exchange 2010
1 Exchange server MBX role For journlaing Exchange 2010
1 CAS for internet owa access Exchange 2010
Now i will be  installing exchange 2013 CAS on 2 box and MBX on 3 box
will decomm the 3 exchange box which has (CAS+ HT + MBX roles) and 1 CAS which we use for owa access.
will keep the Journaling server as it is will not be decomming it as of now.
My question is is will i be able to connect to the journaling mailbox's which are hosted on exchange 2010 journaling server without actually having any 2010 cas server, will exchange 2013 cas directly help me to connect to the journal mailbox or would i need
to add CAS role on Exchange 2010 journaling server and enable outlook anywhere configure the directories with the url's to make it working.
    Please suggest on the same.
    BR/Deepak

    Hi TheLearner,
    Thank you for your question.
Exchange 2013 didn’t connect to the journal mailbox directly when we access it by outlook/OWA. The journal mailbox will connect the former Exchange 2010 CAS. Or we could migrate Journaling mailbox to Exchange 2013. Because Exchange 2010  could communicate
with Exchange 2010 by RPC, but Exchange 2013 could communicate with Exchange 2013 by HTTPS.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,

  • Outlook 2013 cannot connect to Exchange 2010 SP2 server, Outlook 2010, OWA work fine. Ideas?

After upgrading a laptop from Outlook 2010 to 2013 it can no longer connect to our Exchange 2010 SP2 environment.  OWA works, Outlook 2010 works, but Outlook 2013 will not create a profile via AutoDiscover.  The first two checks go, the last check
Log On To server will not.
We can take the laptop to a different network and it works fine with Outlook 2013.
What is different with Outlook 2013 where it will not connect.

Does it work when we recreate a new Outlook profile?

  • Outlook 2010 Certificate Alert when connecting to Exchange 2010 Server

    Hi,
    I am receiving the below security alert when launching a domain joined Outlook 2010 client;
The security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust
This is a self-signed certificate on the CAS server role which is separate to the Hub and Mailbox.  Unless something is completely screwed, Outlook 2007 against Exchange 2007 had no issues with domain joined machines and self-signed certificates.
The following KB article explains the same issue http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/2006728 but this is a native Exchange 2010 environment with no previous versions of CAS roles.
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi,
Yes, when internal user try to use outlook to connect exchange Server, outlook will try to find the e-mail address and exchange server name from AD. After that it will look for SCP and then find the correct the autodiscover server to connect, retrieve settings.
So during the process of connecting to exchange server, it will have to use autodiscover to connect and retrieve user settings. So certificate regard to autodiscover will cause the issue.
I’d like to share the process of how internal outlook user connect to exchange server.
    1.    Automatically retrieve e-mail address from Active Directory if domain joined machine.
    2.    Retrieve Exchange Server name if found and store for later.
    3.    Look for SCP objects or SCP pointer objects that correspond to user’s e-mail address, and find the correct Autodiscover server to connect to; then connect and retrieve settings.
    4.    If previous step fails, attempt DNS discovery of Autodiscover XML (allowing for 10 redirects).
    a.    HTTPS POST: https://DOMAIN/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    b.    HTTPS POST: https://autodiscover.DOMAIN/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    c.    HTTP GET: http://autodiscover.DOMAIN/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml (only to follow redirects, not to get settings)
    d.    DNS SRV lookup: _autodiscover._tcp.DOMAIN (only to follow the redirect the SRV record points to)
    5.    If previous step fails, attempt local XML discovery and use XML found on the local machine if applicable.
    6.    If previous step fails but an Exchange Server name is found in step 2, configure Exchange account based on Exchange Server name.
    7.    If previous step is not applicable, attempt Common Settings Discover, as described in the next section.

  • How to Get Outlook Client Version for MAC from Exchange 2010

    Hi,
I want to know how many users in my organization are using Outlook for MAC or Email for MAC. What is the best way to extract this information from Exchange 2010 server. I can read the RPC Client Access logs by running logparser:
logparser.exe "SELECT distinct extract_suffix(client-name,0,'=') as User,client-software,client-software-version as Versio
    n,client-mode,client-ip,protocol from 'D:\RPC\EXTC03\RCA_2014*.log' WHERE (operation='Connect') GROUP BY User,client-software,Version,client-mode,client-ip,protocol ORDER BY User" -nSkipLines:4 -i:CSV -rtp:-1 > D:\RPC\EXTC03\EXT
    C03.TXT
How to extract Outlook for MAC clients from this command?
    Hasan

    Hi Hasan,
As far as I know, Outlook for Mac (Office 2011) uses Microsoft's EWS (Exchange Web Service). So you probably need to collect and focus on EWS logs, not RCA.
Anyway, Karl is right that you'd better post your question in our Exchange forum, where you can get more experienced responses:

  • Internal outlook client connectivity in exchange 2010 when coexist with exchange 2013

    Hi all ,
on my side i would like to clarify few queries.
Say for instance i am coexisting exchange 2010 with exchange 2013 .Unfortunately if all of my exchange 2013 servers goes down .
Q1 .On that time will the internal outlook users having their mailboxes on exchange 2010 can be able to connect mailboxes without any issues ? In case if they face any issues what kind of issues will they be? Because why i am asking is we should have pointed
the autodiscover service to exchange 2013 during coexistence.
When an user closes and reopens the outlook after whole exchange 2013 environment failure ,outlook will first query the autodiscover service for the profile changes to get it updated on users outlook profile. In such case autodiscover service will not be
reachable and i wanted to know will that affects the internal client connectivity for outlook users having their mailboxes on exchange 2010.
Q2. Apart from outlook internal users connectivity ,what kind of exchange services(i.e owa, active sync, pop, external OA and imap) will get affected when whole exchange 2013 environment goes down during coexistence ?
I have read the below mentioned statement on this awesome blog but still i wanted to clarify with you all on my scenario.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx<o:p></o:p>
    Internal Outlook Connectivity
For internal Outlook clients using RPC/TCP connectivity whose mailboxes exist on Exchange 2010, they will still connect to the Exchange 2010 RPC Client Access array endpoint.
For internal Outlook clients using RPC/TCP connectivity whose mailboxes exist on Exchange 2007, they will still connect directly to the Exchange 2007 Mailbox server instance hosting the mailbox.
Please share me your suggestions and that would help me a lot .
    Regards
    S.Nithyanandham

    Hi Winnie Liang ,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
Scenario  1 : for internal outlook connectivity
We have below settings for exchange 2010 autodiscover.
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for internal autodiscover URI for all the exchange 2010 cas serves
We are going to have below settings for exchange 2013 autodiscover.
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for internal autodiscover URI for all the exchange 2013 cas serves
During coexistence mail.domain.com will be pointed to exchange 2013 cas servers . I mean to say if we try to resolve the mail.domain.com it will get resolved in to the exchange 2013 cas servers.
So on such case if anything happened wrong to the new environment or else if entire environment goes down .Do we face any issues while outlook users connect to existing mailboxes in exchange 2010 ?
Because why i am asking is ,on the below mentioned article i have read all the autodiscover request will go via exchange 2013 cas servers during coexistence. That means all the existing mailboxes in exchange 2010 will also have to query exchange 2013 cas
servers for autodiscover request.During the whole exchange 2013 environemnt failure whenever the user tries to close and open outlook .Outlook will first queries the autodiscover service for any changes happened on that particular mailbox and it will try to
get it updated on user profile.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/03/12/client-connectivity-in-an-exchange-2013-coexistence-environment.aspx
Would it be possible to make the exchange 2010 mailbox users to query only the scp points which belongs to the exchange 2010 cas servers for autodiscover request ?
    Scenario 2: For exchange services
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for all the exchange 2010 services (i.e owa, activesync, external outlook anywhere, pop, imap)
mail.domain.com - will be the namespace for all the exchange 2013 services (i.e owa, activesync, external outlook anywhere, pop, imap)
What about the above services will it get affected during whole exchange 2013 environment failure ?
Note : We are not facing this issue , i hope everything goes well in my environment while doing coexistence i am just asking this question on my own interest?
    Regards

The issue I'm having is a room/resource calendar that I was once able to see I can't anymore.
Running Outlook 2010 as the same user from a different computer works fine.
    OWA works as well.
    Other calendars work
Running Outlook 2013 vs 15.0.4420.1017 also works on a different computer!!!
So this seems to be an issue with my particular version of Outlook, and I did read where a security update seems to have gotten in the way (regression test lately?) but a December patch of 2013 was supposed to fix that. I didn't specifically install the
patch, rather I downloaded from my vendor the latest available version they had.
So is there a patch that will work for me. The only one I've come across tells me it isn't for my machine.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi,
According to your description and test, I understand that the room/resource calendar is invisible in Outlook.
How about changing another user to log on your Outlook?
How about the same version of Outlook on another computer?
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
Please try to re-create profile for testing.
If all method above doesn’t work, please re-install Outlook.
    Best Regards,

  • Exchange 2013 EAC will not run with Exchange 2010 CAS\HT servers shut down.

    Hi Folks,
A little background - We have just migrated all our user mailboxes and public folders to Office 365 using a hybrid configuration. Now that the migration is essentially finished, I'd like to decommission our on-prem Exchange infrastructure and remove the
hybrid config. We are using dirsync with password sync to replicate our AD to the cloud.
I've read that even if you remove your hybrid configuration, it's a good idea to keep one on-prem Exchange server around so you can edit Exchange attribs (such as email addresses) in a supported manner, rather than using ASDI edit, etc.
To this end, I installed a single Exchange 2013 CA\MBX server. After installation, the EAC worked fine, and I was able to view our on-prem users, groups, etc. Last week, I shut down our two Exchange 2010 CAS\HT servers as a test to see if anything broke
prior to decommissioning them (these were the hybrid servers as well). After doing so, the Exchange 2013 EAC no longer works for some reason, and behaves in a very bizarre fashion. About once every 20 times or so, it will actually start and run. The other
times, it just has you enter your creds, then generates an HTTP 500 internal server error after entering them. It seems to make no difference if you attempt to access it by the fqdn, hostname, or localhost right on the box itself. Same behavior on Chrome or
    IE.
Today as a test, I started up one of the 2010 CAS servers and lo and behold, the 2013 EAC ran without difficulty again. Any idea why this might be so? Thanks for any help,
    Ian

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you use the following URL to check if you can access EAC. I see it works for several people about this issue.
    https://<Exchange 2013 CAS FQDN>/ecp?ExchClientVer=15
    Hope it helps.
    Best regards,
