How PLM scenario is integrated to SAP ?

Hi Guys,
We are planning PLM scenario integration to SAP.
Could someone provide me some pointers on how to start , prerequisites , technologies involved , skill set required , does ABAP techie play a key role.
Your suggestions and helpful pointers are immensely appreciated.
Best Regards,
Garry.

Hi Garrick,
Your Question is open and very general as PLM is very vast and depends on the scenario?
Any way i will just try to explain you:
PLM has many parts i.e. PDM (Product Data Managment) which comprise of Material master, Bill of Materials, Document Management System, (If any CAD Interface with DMS, or MS Word or MS Excel Integrations with DMS as templates), Engineering Change Management, Order Change Management, Classification System.
All these are with in SAP R/3 and you have configure as per the business requirement and integration b/w these objects (MM, BOM, DIR etc) are very important and needs lot of ABAP help as it involves Function Modules, enhancements, etc as per needs again.
PLM also comprise of CFolders, Cprojects which are the Plug In to R/3 and works on Intranet and Internet again depending on the Requirement of Customer/Business.
To work on Cprojects it is important to have PS knowledge but not mandatory,
Again based on the Scenarios it depends the Integration of CFolders & Cprojects with your existing R/3 PS, DMS, BOM, MM, etc.
Any SAP Functional guy can handle PLM, but with some knowledge of Functional MOdules, enhancements etc with some Innovative Ideas.
There might also be some Workflow requirement in DMS and ECM which will be controled and authorized based on Statuses.
Hope you have got the enough idea.
Any specific querry you can post to SDN, SDN freinds will definetely help you.
Regards
Rehman

  • Multiple AutoCAD files in one DIR using Cideon integration to SAP PLM

    Hi,
We are testing the AutoCAD integration with SAP PLM and so far have been unable to figure out how to work with a DIR that has multiple autocad originals.  Specifically, an individual AutoCAD file for each sheet of a multi sheet drawing.   Has anybody done this before?  Using a different document part for each drawing sheet is not an option for us.
    Thanks,
    Joseph Whiteley

    Hello again,
The available standard 3rd party connector for AutoCAD doesn't support the functionality you have mentioned. It will require special custom enhancements available from same vendor which will cost extra bucks. We ended up using the same solution that John suggested. Create only a single DIR for the entire Multi sheet drawing and use the AutoCAD DWG viewer instead of the ECL viewer, I'm not 100% sure but ECL viewer does not support viewing individual sheets of this single drawing. Last I knew on this topic is that SAP is moving away from ECL viewer to Right Hemisphere not sure what happened though! Also having a single DIR will lead to requiring enhancements while using Conversion engine (for PDF conversion).
We still face troubles when it comes to our change process, approval, and  transmittal process.

  • How can SMART METER Technology be integrated with SAP ISU system?

At present the SMART METER technology is integrated with SAP ISU through a third party vendor. The idocs are sent to a third party and the readings are downloaded and sent back in idoc segments.
How can the integration be done without the third party intervention.

    HI
SAP XI   needs to be  used for 3rd party  intervention to  send and recive idocs..
or there are some thrid party  softwareslike MDUS ,meter data utilisation  system.which  wil be again a interface between  sap and ami system

  • How to retrieve configuration scenarios in Integration Directory?

    Hi All,
I am developing a Java program to read all configuration scenarios in Integration Directory. My plan is to find SAP's Java APIs available in the NetWeaver Java stack to read the info I need. I have done lots of searches for such the APIs but still got no luck. Could you help me out?
    I'm on NetWeaver PI 7.1.

    Hi,
The 3rd party adapters must be installed via Deploy Tool or JSPM. But u should have a sda file with the adpater content.
see here for more details on JSPM
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/5006901f-925c-2910-5f98-9ae26cc07eca
Usually all these third-party developed adapters also developed pre-defined business content with mappings, but this does not mean that all the interfaces you have can use it. If you do not have any custom work, then you can automate it, but if there is custom work then you have to enhance or develop new maps.
For example, Seeburger has over 20 maps to convert EDI X12 to standard IDoc maps and vice-versa (INVOIC Idoc to 4010 etc).

  • How to delete users in CMC BO integrated with SAP BW

    hello experts,
i am using bo 4.1 , i want to delete users in CMC which is integrated with SAP BW role import.
i am deleting manually but after BW connection refresh again users is coming in to CMC.
please tell me any alternate way to delete users
    thanks,
    naresh.

    Hi,
You cannot delete the users if they are integrated with SAP BW role import.
However if you remove all the roles that the users is/are member of then the user will be removed automatically in next update but by doing so it will remove all other users part of those groups that you are not interested in also.
may i know why are you looking to delete users ?
If you delete manually then all the personal folders will be vanished and even if your user comes back in the next update you will not be able to recover the personal folders.
    Thanks,
    Tanveer.

  • Third Party Recruitment Software integration with SAP HR

    Dear Experts ,
Iam given a scenario where in the client wants the Erecruitment software Taleo to be integrated with  SAP HCM.The HR recruiters/Managers are currently hiring them into the taleo software and from there the data need to be pushed to the SAP employees's infotypes.
In Addition to this the benefits infotype need to be maintained automatically in the system. Is there any way to automatically default the benefit infotype also
Kindly suggest a solution for this.
    Regards
    Gopa

You will need interface(s) between Taleo and SAP....If Taleo is your recruiting system...then they may want...
Outbound from SAP: Interface that sends them vacant position data from SAP (you need this so that when Taleo sends you finally an employee data after hiring they can send you the position data with it).
Outbound from SAP: You may also need to send them terminations from SAP (optional - may be needed depending on your company process for handling rehires)
Inbound to SAP: This is the main file from Taleo after offer is accepted and employee is hired in Taleo. At this time Taleo will send you a file for which you can write an interface to hire these employees into SAP. You can do a BDC session with PA40 - you may have to determine if its a hire or rehire here. If you are processing payroll then its important to make sure you have all the payroll related info types (if they are not coming from Taleo then you should at least have them defaulted to what your client agrees).
The second part to your question
Creating benefits depends on how you are getting or determining benefits data.
    1. Benefits configuration has something called automatic/default plans...
    >>> "Automatic" plans are something employee is enrolled into and has no option to change them.
    >>> "Default" plans are something employee is enrolled into on new hire and typically has 30 days to make changes...this is standard configuration for each plan and should be completed.
If it is controlled via benefits config then you just need to go through hire action...and typically as part of that hire action - IT0378/IT0171 will prompt you to go to benefits enrollment screen and enroll employee...into these automatic/default plans...plans will be pre-selected based on configuration. So all you do here is hit save and continue with rest of hire action. All this is recordable via BDC session.
    2. If it is NOT controlled via configuration...and you are getting benefit plan details in the file then you just create them in the corresponding info types...IT0167/0168 etc. For processing sanity I would separate hire and benefits creation as two step process if all the data is coming via files...
    Happy interfacing...

  • Franchise scenarios financial postings in SAP Retail

Have anybody implemented SAP R45 franchise scenario /  a separate company code per Franchise scenario without a dummy company code?
If a dummy company code where did the Franchises perform full financial accounting e.g. in a separate system (integrated with SAP or not?)
If multiple company codes (per Franchise) how did you manage the Retail elements such as pricing, promotions, assortments, POS integration etc from a distribution chain perspective.
If there is anything else you think is relevant either from a Retail or Financial perspective I would be happy to hear it.

    Hello Adi,
we are about to have exactly the same questions. Did you get any answer and that specific point. Essentially on the impact of the master data management.
We would like to implement Franchise sites with real company code (1 franchise per company code) but we are looking for answers on what may be the impact on :
    - article management (do we have to create a company view per company code of a franchise site?)
    - purchase organisation and distribution channel (do we have to create a purchase organisation / distribution channel per company code of a franchise site?)
    - assortment
    - stock management (stock valuation)
Did you identifie some limits on the use of franchise site? (complexity of maintenance, limit number on company code and franchise site...)
Thanks in advance for your feedback
