How re-install xcode 4.1 from AppStore

While I was installing xcode an alert was launched to notified me to close iTune application. Even if iTune got closed the alert window did not disappear.
Since the installation did not run, after a long time I need to force the close of installation procedure. So, i tried to re-install Xcode from AppStore but it is not possible because Xcode on it appear as installed.
Does anyone knows how reinstall the application?

I had the same problem, failed to realize that all I had to do was quit the iTunes helper app, and killed the installer app instead. Now, like galter, the installer tries to "update" the previous installation, which failed to complete and will not complete the initial installation (I get a message indicating that it's waiting for another installation to complete first). I tried deleting the folder containing all of the developer apps, but that didn't resolve the problem. The installer app still thinks the initial installation was complete and attempts to re-install. Now that I've screwed up the initial installation by killing it and then deleting the "developer" folder, how can I reset things so that I can install xcode from scratch?

hello Dahveed, thanks for your reply, i solved it with the help of the migration assistant from another mac - now it works (but before as more info: for my new imac it was not possible to install apple remote desktop from appstore (the install-button not available, the same as installed already...) - and i don't know why...? - is it possible that the reason is the number of owned macs?)

In any case it doesn't matter. I returned it to the store where I bought it.

User forums and\or chat lines, are useful and may help. But! They do not constitute proper support (not for installation purposes anyway).

When downloading XCode from the app store, it gets installed in your /Applications/ folder. All resources and tools are included in the XCode bundle and accessible from within the XCode UI.
Apple has a guide to walk you through each step from setting up XCode to deploying your iOS application. It can be found here:

I have 16 infobjects for which we need to move to prod and there are no connections to it but the infobjects are active and some are i modified state, like no datasources, infosources, transfer rules etc., Can you please tell me the approach to install all the necessary for them. Inorder to install the business object, you will be require to follow the following steps :
i)Go to RSA1 (Admistrator Workbench) for installing the Business Content. Navigate to object you want to install. Now you want to install the info object then select Info Object.
ii)Select your Info Object say 0MATL_GROUP (material Group).Click on Transfer selections.
iii)Now when the info object is selected. It will always be in default selection (Only Necessary object), Now if you want to install the various other things like data source, transformation rule etc as you specify in query
iv) For that go to grouping select IN DATAFLOW BEFORE AND AFTERWARDS. One more thing If you want to specify the Source system then u can do it by clicking on that Yellow Box (symbol specify the source system) adjacent to BEx (Truck Symbol). This mainly used for the things like transformation, update rule etc as you want.
v)Now you want to see if there can be some predictive error then go Install --> Simulate Installation.
vi)Now important point to note is MATCH(X) or COPY. Now suppose you already have the Material Group install in your system in Active version. Now here if you didnu2019t select the MATCH check box then your A-version Material Group will be overwritten by the D-version Material group provided by SAP.
vii)For ur more understanding lets take the example say you have added two customer specific attribute to Material Group now twist is SAP has also just release the enhance material Group with two additional attribute. Now you are very curious of getting this two attribute in your already active Material Group. For this you will be required to install the material Group from Business content. If you forget to check the Match option then your customer specific attribute will be lost. So to retain them we have to check the MATCH(X)

Just unzip all Instant Client zip files in the same directory, they all have "instantclient_11_2" as first path element,
so everything will end up in the right place in this directory.
If your Instant Client directory has a different name, unzip the package somewhere and move all files and
directories in it to your instant client directory.

[How - to] Install in a click from AUR webpages

Here I little hack I coded to install packages directly from the AUR frontend.
Needed:
- yaourt
- Firefox with greasemonkey (https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/748) or any greasemonkey-scripts accepting browser.
Steps:
1. Create a small bash script called aur_opener.sh containing the following code:
#!/usr/bin/env bash
gnome-terminal -x /usr/bin/yaourt -S ${1//aur:\/\//}
2. Make the script executable
3. Open about:config in Firefox and add the following variable:
network.protocol-handler.app.aur
with value:
yaourt
4. Install the greasemonkey script AURlizer (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/61015).
5. Visit any page on the AUR db. A new symbol [↓] will appear next to the package name. Click on it and you will be asked which program to use. Point Firefox to wherever aur_opener.sh is. install!
Note.
From now on, every time you click on a link like the following: aur://pkgname yaourt will start.
Enjoy.

How do install windows hard drive (from dead pc) into boot camp partition

My Windows 7 desktop died recently, so I took the opportunity to buy a Mac Mini (latest version as of Feb 2012) as a replacement. I want to transfer the Windows 7 installation (from the dead PC) including all applications, accounts, settings, user files, etc to the Boot Camp Partition. Can someone please provide the steps on how to perform the Win 7 migration to the Mac Mini.

Just to clarify:
I want to install the Windows 7 installation from dead the PC into the Mac Mini's Boot Camp partition.
I installed the PC's hard drive into an enclosure and connected it to the Mac Mini via the USB port.
What I want to do is the following:
1) Do a Windows 7 "fresh" install in the Mac Mini Boot Camp partition.
2) Migrate all the applications installed on the Windows 7 PC and their associated data.
3) Migrate all user accounts and data.
Is there a tool that can transfer all applications and user accounts from the Windows 7 Hard Drive to the Boot Camp partition on the Mini?
Based on the documentation the Window Migration tool is Lion OS utility and does not perform a complete migration of all applications installed on the Windows machine.

How to install arch 2009.08 from hard drive? Please enlighten me

OK, I admit I am impatient for the installation from the CD drive. Whenever possible and whatever distro I wanna try, I head first to try to install it from the hard drive. I don't remember how many times and how many distros I have done the same to, ubuntu, zenwalk, sidux, fedora, opensuse and of course arch. It rarely failed as long as I followed someone's guide, sth like "install any OS from hard drive", I do not exactly remember. And I did the same in the past with arch. But after 2009.08, it simply didn't work. I've read the article "fast install arch from existing linux system" in the wiki, it didn't work either (by the way, if someone can solve my problem, I think the article should be updated). After it boots, at some stage, it says "Use Hook [archiso]", then tell me "waiting for /dev/archiso for 30 seconds ..." then when the time due, it throws me into a ramfs shell. I've hacked for a long time, but no luck. Then I went back to download the 2009.02 iso, however, it works flawlessly.
I did find some differences in the menu.lst/isolinux.cfg between two version.
In 2009.02, we have
title Boot Arch Linux Live CD
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 lang=en locale=en_US.UTF-8 usbdelay=5 ramdisk_size=75%
initrd /boot/archiso_pata.img
While in 2009.08, it is
title Boot Arch Linux Live CD
kernel /boot/vmlinuz26 lang=en locale=en_US.UTF-8 archisolabel=ARCHISO_AHCOHH6O ramdisk_size=75%
initrd /boot/archiso_pata.img
I know I can install arch from usb, but I simply wanna know what's wrong here, so guys, if you have any idea, don't hesitate to enlighten me.

Hi, vacant, thanks for the reply. I did not notice you are the author of the article. Actually I missed the head of the article which directs me to another (the amalgamated one you mentioned). I take a look at it, it seems to make things complicated. I still miss the old days: you simply download the iso, mount it and copy all the contents into a separate partition, edit your current grub, then reboot and everything works. I don't understand how Arch could be so evolved to exclude this simple installation scheme. I am not complaining the development of Arch. In my opinion, a distro as flexible as Arch should provide as much installation strategy as possible. In this respect, I think we can learn from Ubuntu or sidux (in sidux, it provides a very convenient kernel parameter called "fromiso" which allows you to install sidux from the plain iso, that means, you even don't have to mount it and copy the contents out of it to a separate partition).

I have all the requirements already, but when I click the install button nothing happens. theres no loading bar or wizard. even when i search for "OS X Lion" nothing shows up. but I already have it purchased. odd right? Would I have to buy the disk from the apple store and do it that way or is something wrong with my computer. I already rebooted it like 4 times btw. Thanks.

- Sign out of the App Store (in the Store menu)
- Quit the App Store
- In Finder - Go>Go to folder... (or Apple-shift-G)
- Paste in the following "~/Library/Caches/ "
- It will take you to a folder. Delete com.apple.appstore
- Launch the App Store. Sign in and then reclick the Lion buy. It won’t charge you again.
Try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

How to install and update ARD from 3.3 to present

I have a dillema as I have just come across my ARD 3.3 disc and serial number that I purchased a while back and did not get around to installing it. Iv'e just put the disc into my mac and tried to install, but it says the version I am trying to install is for Snow Leopard, as I am in Lion. I tried to download the latest update from ARD and install it but it said it cannot find ARD, which makes perfect sense. So how can I get around this problem?

There is an Apple Support article explaining the steps you need to do this which I can't seem to find at the moment. Eseentially this is what you do:
1. Copy the Apple Remote Desktop Installer from the Installation disc to the desktop
2. Hold the Control key and click on the Installer icon
3. In the contextual menu that appears, choose Show Package Contents
4. In the package contents, navigate to Contents/Installers
5. Control-click on RemoteDesktopAdmin.pkg and choose Show Package Contents
6. In the package contents, double-click the Archive.pax.gz file to expand it
7. In the expanded archive, navigate to Archive/Applications/ and drag Remote Desktop to your Applications folder
8. Immediately run Software Update to update Remote Desktop to the latest version
Alternatively you could download the latest version of ARD Admin instead and have the package ready to install after completing step 7.
