    You can do a kill -9 on the process_id of the oracle shadow process on the database server to remove the lock. In the following query, it would be vp.spid.

    How can I remove locked VPN connections under Network? (OS 10.9.5)
    HotSpot Shield installed three VPN connections under Network settings. I no longer subscribe to the service and have removed the application, but I'm unable to remove the network connections.
    Three VPN connections were created:
    "US Server"   utahmaps.us
    "GB Server"   jacketmagazine.us
    "JP Server"    brainphotos.us
    However, all these connections have the padlocked icon beside them, and I don't have the permissions to delete them.
    I'm including a screen capture of one of the settings, for reference.
    I can set them to inactive, but would like to remove them altogether.
    Can anyone offer any assistance?

    I have been looking for this answer also... I found it yesterday. if you go to profiles in system preferences, you will be able to delete those completely.

    First you must remove him as an admin. Change his account to 'standard.' Under System Preferences > Users & Groups > Uncheck 'Allow This user to Administer the Computer' for your Son's account under his name. He must be logged out from his account. If you run into problems, see this thread:

    Go to system admin -> Monitoring -> Portal -> Object locking.
    The locked object should appear.  From here you can unlock it.

    I like to retrieve a file from the FTP server using Apache Commons Net libraries.
    for example if the file size is 20MB. When the file is in the progress of copying or transferring from the FTP server i need to lock the local file which is in our local directory so that no other process will use the same local file which is in the process of copying otherwise partially copied files will be used by another process.
    the file should be locked when it was in the progress of copying from the server. I have an automatic process which will access file objects at certain time and try to process the files.
    I like to know the simplest and easiest way to lock and unlock a file object locally which is trying to copy a file from the FTP server which is of huge size.
    And also i like to know how to lock and unlock a file in general?

    I will +1 Pixelan's products. They are great, simple, and have about the best support that I know of. When you explore, say Pixelan's SpiceMaster, dig deeply. Things appear rather mundane, on the surface, but there is so very much power lurking, just below the surface.
