How retrieving the product key for a SQL Server 2005 installation

Hi,
is it possible to retrieve the product key associated to a SQL Server 2005 installation?
If yes, how?
Many thanks

  • Office 2013: can't retrieve the Product Key via Belarc Advisor

    Hi,
Isn't it possible anymore to retrieve the Office Product Key installed on a computer via third party inventory software such as Belarc Advisor? I used to do that to see the Microsoft Office Product Key installed on a computer for previous Office versions.
However, I tried with a computer where Office 2013 Home and Business is installed and Belarc Advisor didn't show its Product Key. Is it due to the new license management that consists of linking it to a Microsoft account and only entering the account credentials
during the installation process instead of the Product Key? Isn't the Product Key stored somewhere on the computer anymore?

    Hi,
Thanks for your answer although it's a typical half useless reply from an official Microsoft staff...
Actually, I understand that Microsoft doesn't support third party software to retrieve a product key but my question was rather technical and driven by curiosity rather by the need of retrieving the product key. Indeed, I took over a computer park in a company
and I'm performing an IT inventory. During this inventory, I retrieve Windows and Office Product Key. The licenses are genuine but since I'm not the one who purchased and installed these computer, I don't know them. Therefore, a simple solution is to use inventory
software such as Belarc Advisor. But I noticed that it can't retrieve Office 2013 Product Key anymore whereas it was able with previous versions of Office.
So to reformulate the question: isn't the Product Key stored somewhere locally on the computer anymore with Office 2013? Because if no, that would explain why third party software can't retrieve it anymore.
My question is rather technical about the new way of managing Product Key with Office 2013 and driven by curiosity. So I don't need any official technical assistance.
    Thanks

  • After having had to upgrade to windows 7 i cant find the product key for my photoshop elements 8

i kept the download for my photoshop elements 8 but after the windows 7 upgrade i cant find the product key for the PSE8

This isn't the PSE forum Edward, but you might be aware of that.
PSE8 is going to be fairly old I'm thinking?  Like I said... this is not the PSE forum so people don't tend to know much about it.   The reason I make that point, is that if you have previously registered your copy of PSE8, you will be able to log on to your Adobe ID, go to My orders, and find both a link to download the installation file, and your serial number.
Other than that, I am not sure how you will find it.

  • How to find product key for Microsoft Office 2010?

I purchased an HP Pavilion dv6 a couple of years ago. At the time of purchase I also ordered a license for Microsoft Office 2010. The laptop came with Office already installed, and everything worked great for years.
Earlier this week I had to do a full system restore to get my laptop back in working order. I backed up all of my user files, found installers or original installation media for all of my software except for Office, and proceeded with the system restore.
I just got everything running again this morning. The system restore put a clean copy of the OS on my laptop, but Microsoft Office is gone. I've just about finished re-installing all of the other software, but I need some help with Office.
Since my laptop didn't come with installation media for Microsoft Office 2010 I'm trying to donwload it from here:
    https://www2.downloadoffice2010.microsoft.com/usa/registerkey.aspx?culture=en-US&ref=pkc
It asks for a product key for Office 2010 in order to start the download. The product key for Microsoft Windows is on the bottom of my computer, but I can't find a product key for Office. (Before anyone asks, yes, this is the full version of Office 2010, and yes, I paid for it at the time of purchase of the laptop.) I kept all of the paperwork that came with the computer, but I can't find the Office product key anywhere in that packet. Is there somewhere else I should be looking for my product key?
Better yet, does HP still have a copy of my original purchase order for this laptop, and do they store product keys for the products they sell?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Neither HP nor Microsoft keep a record of the key that was issued.  If you cannot find it in your documentation or emails I'm afraid you are out of luck and would have to purchase another key.

  • How to calculate the HFM Cube size in SQL Server-2005

    Hi
How to calculate the HFM Cube size in SQL Server-2005 ?
Below query used for Oracle. Then what is query for SQL Server?
    SQL> select sum(bytes/1024/1024) from dba_segments where segment_name like 'FINANCIAL_%' and owner='HFM';
    SUM(BYTES/1024/1024)
    SQL> select sum(bytes/1024/1024) from dba_segments where segment_name like 'HSV FINANCIAL%' and owner='HFM';
    SUM(BYTES/1024/1024)
    Regards
    Smilee

What is your objective? The subcube in HFM is a concept which applies to the application tier - not so much to the database tier. The size of the subcube is the unique number of data strips (data values for January - December inclusive, for example) for the given entity, currency triplet or Parent.Child node. You have to account for parent accounts and customs which don't exist in the database but are generated in RAM in the application tier.
So, if your objective is to find the largest subcubes, you could do this by querying the database and counting the number of records per entity/value (DCE tables) or parent.child entity combination (DCN tables). I'm not versed in SQL, but I think the script below would just tell you the schema size and not the subcube sizes.
Check out Accelatis.com for a third party software product that can do this for you. The feature is called the Subcube Analyzer and was written by the same team that wrote HFM, so they ought to know how this works :-)

  • How much Memory should be allocated to SQL Server 2005

    Hi,
I have a SQL Server 2005 installation on a server having 64GBof RAM.
SQL server is allocated 57GB of the available RAM.
Could you please tell me what would be the ideal RAM allocation for my scenario. is the one that is set now, fine.
How much RAM should be left for the OS and other processes to run?
I have around 8 databases on the server and the cumulative size of all the databases in about 800GB, these are highly used servers, used for a public domain.

    Umesh,
Saeid and Uri has already given you good articles to refer to please read them. Reg SQL Server utilization I am sure you are referring to task manager which is always not correct place to look for memory utilization. Below link has query which will give
    you SQL Server memory utilization
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/sqlsakthi/archive/2011/02/28/t-sql-script-to-monitor-memory-usage-by-sql-server-instance.aspx
Article provided by Uri will give you not absolute value but almost correct value, but since you asked absolute value you need to look at performance counter to reach at correct memory utilization. If you refer to section 'Does my SQL server has low memory'
in article which Saeid gave you will find list of counters to monitor for memory utilization use the counters to reah absolute value.
    >>OK, Can high RAM utilization by sql server cause the OS to restart by any chance.
IMO its not possible I have never seen SQL server being cause for OS shutdown. SQL Server works in non preemptive mode and will yield memory to OS when required. One possibility is when SQL server has locked pages in memory(LPIM)  and some rouge process
or driver starts using memory from OS heavily and since  SQL server memory is locked( due to LPIM privilege)  it cannot trim heavily resulting in OS to terminate but this is not because of SQL server but because of bad drivers and processes leaking
    memory on OS.
SQL server using memory is normal behavior
    >>This question seems vague, but I had to ask this, because my server restarts abruptly and I don't get valid reasons in the Logs for that matter.
Does SQL server starts abruptly or windows OS ? Please look at event viewer for more details and SQL server logs. Is your SQL Server 2005 patched to SP4

    Hi,
Following solution might help you to resolve the issue.
    Solution1:
Issue happens because universe connection to the Database is not responding and the Data Source Name is not configured to write SQL Server 2005 database.
    Resolution
Created new DSN connection under SYSTEM DSN to SQL Server 2005 Database.
Import the universe from the designer.
    Go to File->Parameters.
    Edit Connection.
On the Database Middleware Page expand SQl Server 2005->Select SQL Server 2005 driver.
Change the DSN to new DSN connection
    Test the connection.
Save the Universe and Export it to the repository.
    Solution2:
I am taking Oracle as an example over here.
This can be caused when the SQLNET.ora is located in a remote location using mapped drives.
    Resolution
    To resolve,
check the registry [HKLM\SOFTWARE\ORACLE] you should see a folder called HOME0
look for any paths that contain a mapped drive partition
Change the mapped drive letter to a UNC path (
    server\folder)
Open a command prompt and do a tnsping using the tnsname and verify the location of the SQLNET.ora or TNSNAMES.ora
If the path is not updated to the new path
    Reboot the server

  • Purchase or not ODBC Driver for MS SQL Server 2005

    Hi experts,
We have Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard with MS SQL SERVER 2005 and our other branch want to access this system's Database at their end.
other branch is planning to integrate database record to ERP
Can u confirm whether they have to purchase ODBC driver or not.
from where i can purchase ODBC driver online.
    Best Regards,
    Pardeep

    Hello,
The data provider like ODBC and SQL Server Native Client are already integrated in all common MS Windows OS, so in common you don't need to install additional provider.
But if you want to install and newer version, then you can get it for free from
Feature Pack for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP4 => sqlncli.msi ( = SQL Native Client, which includes ODBC)

  • SQL Server 2005 installation after VS 2005 installation

I saw in another thread that someone had trouble installing SQL Server 2005 after installing Visual Studio 2005.  The answer alluded to the fact that the default/standard installation of VS 2005 results in the installation of SQL Server Express at the same time.
I installed Visual Studio 2005 Professional on my PC already, and am about to install SQL Server 2005 Developer edition.  Is there any way to know now (before installing SQL Server) that something will cause an installation issue?  I would like to do whatever I can to prevent problems in advance, so is there anything I can / should to before installing SQL Server?

I did not mention in my previous post that after much reading in help forums and treading on proverbial eggshells (hoping I was doing things correctly to ensure good installation of purchased products thereafter), I recently uninstalled/removed several beta versions of Visual Studio and SQL Server from my personal/home PC (O/S: Windows XP Media Center Edition Version 5.1, build 2600, SP2).  I have already jumped over the "uninstall wall" several times to get to this point.  That is why I am proceeding with caution, to avoid any more torture;  I would prefer to do the right thing (even though I've apparently already started down the wrong path) to avoid any more headaches.
I was unsure at first, but went in search of logs and registry entries to see if SQL Express was installed, and am now fairly sure it was, because of 4 items I found:
    1)   In C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU\Logs\dd_vsinstall80.txt:
[04/29/08,13:10:53] Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86: e:\setup\..\wcu\sse\SQLEXPR32.EXE exited with return value 0
    [04/29/08,13:10:53] InstallReturnValue: GFN_MID SSE x86, 0x0
[04/29/08,13:10:53] Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition x86: Error code 0 for this component means "The operation completed successfully."
    2)  In: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Files\
    SQLSetup0006_D8GKLNB1_SQL.log:
MSI (s) (34:88) [13:10:15:218]: Product: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition -- Installation completed successfully.
    3)  Add/Remove Programs shows “Microsoft SQL Server 2005” is on my machine (although “Express” is not part of the name).  Also listed are:  Microsoft SQL Server Native Client, Microsoft SQL Server Setup Support Files (English), Microsoft SQL Server VSS Writer, MSXML 6.0 parser
    4)  Searching for InstallDate in regedit:  HKLM|Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Intaller\UserData\5-1-5-18\Products\7DDFFFA258DE09A4C
DisplayName                Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
InstallDate                    same date as Visual Studio 2005 installation
                InstallSource                 l:\f58e49f47a1d350886021c2b2dd1\Setup\
So now I would like to know what the best course of action is to remedy this with the least amount of aggravation.  Is it possible to just use A/R programs to uninstall the components of SQL Server 2005 (Express) that interfere with installation of SQL Server 2005 Developer edition?  Would those be the workstation components?

  • Where can I find the product key for Windows 7?

Hi - I recently purchased a laptop from Dixons. Where can I find the product key to start using microsoft 7? I can not find it anywhere.
    Please help!

    Hello
I believe 90% of Toshiba notebooks you can find on the market are delivered with preinstalled operating system. When you start it for the first time you must NOT activate preinstalled OS. At the bottom of the notebook you can find Windows sticker with valid key license.
Maybe you bought notebook without preinstalled OS. In this case you must install own OS and use own license key.
The question is: which notebook model do you have exactly and was your notebook delivered with preinstalled operating system?
For exact answer please offer more relevant information.

    I am new here.
I just purschased a Lenovo SL500 from Hemini.
I have a question that they wouldn't answer for me. Hopefully someone of you can.
My laptop came with windows XP installed and with CDs for installing Vista.
I chose to stay with XP.
The Windows sticker underneath the laptop is for Vista => the 25 digit Product Key it has on it is for Vista and won't work for "validating" my Windows XP and Windows Office software.
Nowhere in the package did I find any mention of a product key for the XP.
Please help me as to what I should do now.

    Hi Oingk,
Most [maybe all] computer manufacturers use volume license key to install and activate Windows:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volume_license_key
Preinstalled Windows OSes from lenovo come already activated, it's surprising that yours is not activated. I suggest contacting lenovo CS.
In case you did a clean install then you should have created recovery discs for XP first, these discs contain an image of preinstalled Windows [pre-activated] and other lenovo software:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-68317
As for Microsoft Office, the version bundled with thinkpads is trial unless specifically ordered a license during purchase.
    Hope it helps.
