Well. i agree. we have logs to capture media backups....so wanted to cut only these media backups failure out of alert file...else what is happening here is our monitoring reports these as alerts as already we know from media backup logs...So why not modify your monitoring of the alert log to exclude that particular error?
Personally, I'd allow both systems to continue to report the error from their perspective.

in nutshell...just exploring any options to turn off the media backup failures like any rman parameters or can anything to do with veritas parameters?
Anyway thanks to all for your valuable opinions.

  • How to backup both my MacBook air files and Windows 7 files via Parallels?

    Hi,
    I'm new to apple support........I need to purchase an external drive to backup my files from my MacBook air but I also need to backup two main programs that i use for my business on Win7 via Parallels.
    Can I use the same drive and/or time machine for both?
    Or do I need to use two different methods?
    Thanks in advance!
    Chef Heather

    Any backup utility will backup the pseudo-disk that Parallels uses just like any other file on the drive. But if you are going to do that I recommend not using Time Machine. Time Machine will backup the pseudo-disk every hour even if only one byte changed. In no time at all your backup drive will be full. I suggest you use a different utility that overwrites changed files, only.

  • How to backup messages in Spice fire one?

    I am using Spice fire one and want to reset it but I do not know how to backup my messages because it contains really important messages.

    Hi abhipuru,
    Unfortunately, there are no native features in your device to backup your SMS messages.
    You may contact the manufacturer of your phone, Spice, and they may be able to provide you with a solution for this.
    You may also be able to backup some information in your device using the application PC-Sync from the Firefox Marketplace:

  • ORA- Error messages in Oracle Alert File

    Hello Gurus,
    In a SAP - BW system installed on Oracle 8.1.7.4, there were some oracle errors entries as follows;
    Fri Nov  3 02:13:32 2006
    Errors in file /oracle/<SID>/saptrace/background/p001_14866_<sid>.trc:
    ORA-00603: ORACLE server session terminated by fatal error
    ORA-00052: maximum number of enqueue resources (8000) exceeded
    ORA-00052: maximum number of enqueue resources (8000) exceeded
    How fatal is this error? how to make sure this doesnt happen again and anyone can share the SQL command to see how many ENQUEUE_RESOURCES are being used?
    If i have to increase the enqueue, where and how to do it?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi "Basis Learner",
    1. Oracle 8.1.7 is out of date! It's not maintained anymore.
    2. You don't need SQL to tell how many enqueue resources have been used here. The message is clear: 8000. The current maximum. Not a single one more and no less.
    3. Well how many more you'll need is hard to tell. But oviously more. Try with plus 50% -> 12000.
    Since the process that died here had been a paralle query server process, it may also be the case, that you've configured too many parallel servers. As they run at the same time (parallel) they'll make use of enqueues at the very same time...
    4. Of course there are notes:
    398927 - ORA error as the dimensions of the parameters are too small
    745639 - FAQ: Oracle enqueues
    632427 - Oracle 8.1.7* database parameterization for BW
    Hope that helps.

  • E61 - how to backup messages saved to a customized...

    Hi,
    I want to backup all the contents of my E61 prior to handing it in for repair again. The screen doesn´t work, so I cannot navigate on the phone itself though I can connect it to my PC.
    In the "Nokia Communication Center" (I use Nokia PC Suite and that´s what opens when I hit the envelope symbol), I only see the following SMS folders: Inbox/ Draft/ Sent/ Outbox. On my phone, however, I have created a custom folder "important" and the text messages in that one are - well, important. One holds a licence key I needed to activate a piece of software and I don´t have that key any other place.
    Can anyone give me a hint how I might be able to backup the contents of that folder?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello?
    Does no one have any ideas on this one? I would hate to have to buy that software again on top of everything else I face until I have a working phone again...
    I suppose that when I do a full backup including the messages (via PC Suite), those customized folders will also be backed up - but I´d like to be sure.
    I want to give it a shot and hand my phone in, at least to get a cost estimate so I can judge if it´s worth repairing or if I´d be better off with a new one from ebay.

  • How to BackUp Restore Large Library "original file could not be found"

    I've searched the archives for this with no clear answer, and am reposting to avoid confusing anyone.
    I am working on a manual and seamless BACKUP-RESTORE process to manage my large 100-gigabyte-plus iTunes library.
    +++++
    First, my iTunes folder is in default location:
    Boot drive> User> Music
    I don't keep any music in this folder.
    New music is imported into this folder, copied over to my Music Library, and then deleted from iTunes folder (to keep it and my boot drive clean, and my 100GB Music Library folder meticulously organized).
    My iTunes folder is set at default:
    iTunes> Preferences> Advanced> Change> iTunes Music folder location
    My actual 100-gigabyte-plus music folder is stored on a 2nd hard drive:
    HardDrive> Music Library
    This setup works perfect.
    +++++
    BACKUP
    To backup, I simply:
    1) copy my User> Music> iTunes folder (800mb) to a 3rd hard drive.
    2) copy my HardDrive> Music Library to 3rd hard drive
    RESTORE
    To restore, I simply:
    1) copy my backup iTunes into User> Music.
    2) copy my Music Library back to 2nd hard drive HardDrive.
    3) Relaunch iTunes and every works perfect.
    THE PROBLEM
    However, if I change the name of my 2nd hard drive (where my 100GB music folder is stored) — iTunes shows everything in place — all songs, art, playlists — but I get following error on every song:
    THE SONG NAMED ______ COULD NOT BE USED BECAUSE THE ORIGINAL FILE COULD NOT BE FOUND. WOULD YOU LIKE TO LOCATE IT?
    Obviously I don't want to have to do this individually for 30,000 songs and am looking for instructions how to point iTunes database back to my 2nd hard drive> Music Library and complete the restore process.
    I am hoping this can be done without changing my work flow — and it is a simple and logical move to tell iTunes where all the original files (missing songs) are stored.
    +++++
    Previous discussions have noted:
    Following this Apple Support Doc
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589
    I was able to Quit iTunes, relaunch iTunes holding Option key, and chose my existing library (from my Music folder) — it works, everything shows up — but iTunes still doesn't know where my songs are (on my 2nd hard drive).
    If I point the Option+Open iTunes library prompt to my 100GB Music Library (on the 2nd hard drive), it tells me (logically) there is no library there).
    I've also launched and manually verifies iTunes> Preferences> Advanced> Change> iTunes Music folder location — it works, everything shows up — but iTunes still doesn't know where my songs are (on my 2nd hard drive).
    I anticipate more complications if I reset iTunes preferences to my 2nd hard drive or start dinking around trying to see what works and what does not work.
    +++++
    At this point I am trying to make THIS workflow, backup-restore process work — so I am hoping someone else has slugged through this and can take a few minutes to clue me in the right direction (or at least tell me there is no way to do what I am trying).

    If I simply rename the second hard drive to the name of the original 2nd hard drive — iTunes is successfully restored.
    I am still looking for a better way because I want to change the name of the second HD...

    DB 9.2.0.8

    Many ThanksThe only way to recover an individual table from a backup is to restore that backup to a 'throwaway' database, then take an export of the one table, then import that back into the real database.
    rman backup backs up and restores files, not individual database objects.

  • Restore an RMAN backup to a new db instance name.

    I have a old copy of an RMAN backup of a production database from 2 months ago. I want to restore it to a new instance name. The backup no longer shows in the RMAN backup listing from the control file of the current production system.
    The backup I have does have the control file as well as the other backup pieces, Is there a procedure to restore this to a new instance since the backup is no longer in the current production control file?
    I have used the duplicate command of RMAN and have successfully restored databases to a new instance name by using the newname option.
    But the backups were always in the control file.
    Can this be done? If so, how?

    You need to restore the controlfile first and copy it into all locations where init.ora specify them. then startup mount, and 'rman / target' will give you access to the old contents of the controlfile at that time.. If the rest of the back is on tape, you need to restore the rman backupset first to disk on same location specified in the backupsets paths. same for the archivelogs.
    Then you can decide to go for a duplicate database to target <newname> or a restore DB (must have the same name). but was the DB a cold backup ? then remember than Rman does not takes the redo logs, so that your shutdown before must be clean (shutdown immediate at most). If it is an hot you may need need to dump the arc and possible do a recover manual (case you forgot to put the arcchives or the archives names is not the same in the init.ora than original for you include the db name in it).
    In that case the archive logs may be renamed to what ever is in the init.ora. and there are many others possbilities. you did not specified enough data on the backup

  • Rman backup with corrupted block

    Hello,
    Firstly - I have problem on non-production database 11.2.0.1.0, so I am not deeply worried about data. But I need to understand what happened with database backups and how to prevent such things in future.
    So - I have EM scheduled weekly full backup and daily incremental backups. Later there was problem with hardware and some corrupted blocks in database were found. The weekly backup ran without error and obsolete backups were deleted. Now it is not possible to "recover corruption list" because no backup without corruption exists (RMAN-06023: no backup or copy of datafile 6 found to restore). I am not worried about the lost data, but I need to find out how come the backup contains corrupted block.
    I have checked the data file using dbv utility

    1) So how is it possible that the EM scheduled backup ran without problems and the backup now contains corrupted blocks. How to prevent this in future ? I know there is setting MAXCORRUPT. How can I check its current value ? How can I configure it using EM scheduled backups ?
    2) Secondly, meanwhile I studied the RMAN commands. So I have suspended EM backup jobs, and executed follwing command. And backup ran without error again. How is this possible, if data file users06.dbf has corrupted block ?

  • How to multiplex the block change tracking file?

    Hi,
    I have a question to change block tracking feture.
    The normal way to enable block change tracking would be:
    ALTER DATABASE ENABLE BLOCK CHANGE TRACKING
    USING FILE 'mydir/change_track.f'
    REUSE;
    What if my harddrive is gone?
    Is there anyway to define more than one destinitaion like for archive log files?

    The difference is... archive log files can contain irreplaceable data.
