  • Add Transparency Attribute for LabWindows/CVI Panels

Add an attribute for LabWindows/CVI panels for setting transparency.
Currently, in order to achieve this behaviour users are forced to workaround this using Windows API.
Having an attribute for this purpose would allow users to benefit from this functionality more easily and would make LabWindows/CVI programs more cleaner.

    Greetings LabWindows/CVI enthusiasts,
I am pleased to inform you that the LabWindows/CVI Real-Time Module Beta Program is now open.
If you are interested in participating in the program, we encourage you to request participation by visiting www.ni.com/beta and choosing to register for the LabWindows/CVI Real-Time beta from the drop-down menu. All previous beta users must re-register for the LabWindows/CVI Real-Time Beta to ensure we have up-to-date information. This is a separate beat program from the LabWindows/CVI Beta and must be registered for separately.

  • SCPI Instrument driver for LabWindows/CVI ?

Is there somthing like a plain SCPI instrument driver for LabWindows/CVI
that works with all SCPI-DMMs ?
    Thanks,

    Manfred,
You could look for a driver for another Keithly model or try one for a
different brand. They may be similar enough to modify easily. I realize this
goes against the idea of SCPI and standards but it is the best we have now.
    Good Luck

  • Need exmamples for FP-CTR-502 for LabWindows/CVI

I am looking for examples for the FP-CTR-502 for LabWindows/CVI. Any help appreciated!

Currently, there are no 'official' examples for the 502/500 in CVI. However, there are some examples in the work.
I did make a very simple example to measure frequency using a user-specified gate width. This CVI project is attached.

  • Yokogawa UT driver for LabWindows/CVI 6.0 won't translate to LabVIEW 8.6?

The device driver for the Yokogawa UT series furnace controllers is in LabWindows/CVI 6.0 and I would like to use it in LabVIEW. I tried to use the utility to convert from LabWindows/CVI to LabVIEW, but it said it couldn't and that the device driver is from before LabWindows/CVI 5.01.
In any case, here is the series of events.
I downloaded the LabWindows/CVI to LabVIEW Converter, from
the page on LabVIEW's developer's connection that had the driver for the
    Yokogawa UT controller.
From an empty LabVIEW Block Diagram, I click
    Tools>>Instrumentation>>Create LabVIEW Interface to LabWindows/CVI
    Instrument Driver...
This takes a little while to load. During loading an
FC_Interface_Main.vi runs, apparently trying to find a file.
Once that is done, the two options are Basic and Advanced. I leave
basic selected. I click next. browse to find the ykut.fp file from the
    driver I downloaded.
I then click next. The error window that is seen in the screen shot is
    then shown.
I called a tech support guy at NI about this, and I e-mailed him with all the above, but there was no reply, though the conversion utility is no longer available on the same web page as this specific device driver.
In any case, if anybody could give a little guidance, it would be appreciated.

    Hello Screamingzebras,
I converted the .fp file to be version 5.5 and ran the utility that was mentioned.  I have attached two files to this post.  "ykut.zip" is the converted .fp file (version 5.5).  "yut.zip" is the converted instrument driver.

I am currently trying to implement the exer1.cws example from the Cvi sample and tutorials section.
But i get 9 Link errors while trying to generate the DLL.
I have attached the Link errors as a txt file.
Please tell me whats wrong with the program??
I have incorporated the RTmain as entry point function of the program.
I have initialised variables used in the main program globally.
Other user interface functions have also been defined outside the body of the Rtmain program.
    Hope this info is sufficient.

Hey , Thanks for the reply.
The tutorial asks us to select the Option as 'Real Time Only'.
I reverted to 'Full Run-time engine' as you asked.
    But there is no change.
Although i did debug most of the erros.
I just included the Functions in the headerfile.
But even though, i am stuck with two errors.
I am attaching the complete set as txt file.

  • My Phone Thinks it's January 1st, 1970. How Do I Bring it Back to the Future?

I've never actually seen that movie, I'm sorry if I don't understand any references.
Okay! So, here's the run-down. I have an LG Lucid 2. I am in England right now studying abroad for the year, and I have suspended my phone service, and have only been using wifi when it's available. When I got into the UK, my phone was still on USA Central time. I have searched the phone, and the manual, and an online version of the manual, and have not been able to find a way to change the date and time manually. Now, this ordinarily wouldn't have been a problem, but then I took my SIM card out (wanted to see if the SIM cards they've been giving away here would fit in my phone if I got it unlocked from Verizon and not have to get a new phone to use here, but I did not put the other SIM card into the phone) and put it back in and started the phone up. This is when it time-traveled. It started back up at 6:00pm, January 1st, 1970. So now, a lot of my apps aren't working because they're demanding I change my date and time, but when I go to do that, the only options I have are to change the date and time /format/. I just want to get my phone onto the right time. I even tried to hard reset it, but when I held both the power button and the volume button after turning it off, it came to a screen that said something like "Downloading Screen, Do Not Unplug Device Until Finished" or something like that. If I didn't touch it, it would stay like that. If I touched the power button like the manual says to do, nothing happened. I could only get one thing to happen - which is for it to start back up again with all of my apps and media and settings. So. That didn't work. Please help. Please. I am tearing my hair out over this and after waiting an hour, staring at the livechat button, willing it to turn on, I've had no luck.

Just for asking can you post a screen shot of the Date and Time settings,  Like shown below"  press either the Lower volume and power or upper volume and power the 2 that snaps a screen shot once you've done that if ya know how to post a S.S.  post it to thread and that way it will give us a Look at your settings..
Here's a Screen shot of my Droid Maxx with the Date and Time..

  • Visual Studio or LabWindows/CVI?

    I have a bit of a dilemma.
I currently own Visual Studio 2010, IMAQ Vision Development Module 2013, and Measurement Studio (not sure of version). I currently do all of my programming in VB.net. Because IMAQ VDM is stuck in .Net framework 3.5 and there will be no further .net development by NI, I need to plan for the future. My applications need run on Win 8, 9, 43, or whatever my company decides to migrate to from Win 7.
My understanding is that the NI modules I currently own will work with LabWindows/CVI. Correct? I also believe I can use them with C++ using the VS IDE. Is this also correct?
Within my applications I do a lot of interfacing with Excel, writing text files, and interfacing to non-NI devices (cameras, DAQs, scanners, etc). I am able to do these things pretty easily using VB.net using vendor-provided SDK's.
Therefore, my question is this...given the investment I have in software already, do I gain anything by migrating to LabWindows/CVI? What do I lose?
I should point out that regardless of the path I choose I will need to bone up on my programming skills in the corresponding language.
    Thanks for all your help!

    Hello Steverino!
Here are some advantages when using LabWindows/CVI over Visual Studio, which make the product more suitable for various industry-related applications:
You are correct, LabWindows/CVI integrates with the NI platform: NI hardware and software, like TestStand or LabVIEW (e.g. debugging source code from one software to another, seamlessly).
NI hardware and third-party hardware connectivity.
    OpenMP support.
    CVI integrates with intrument control.
CVI Run-Time benefits from User Protection.
Run-Time checking (e.g. for uninitialized variables).
Scientific User Interface Controls and GUI Editor.
    Advanced debugging capabilities:
    Remote debugging support from ADE.
    Real-Time debugging support from ADE.
Memory leak detection using the LabWindows/CVI Resource Tracking Window.
    Just-In-Time debugging.
Deployment: build custom installers and patches that you can ship as stand-alone easy-to-use installers.
LabWindows/CVI libraries: Advanced Analysis, Toolbox, Connectivity (Network Variables, Network Streams, DataSocket), etc.
Support for LabWindows/CVI Toolkits: SQL Toolkit, Vision, PID, RT.

    - Johannes.

  • TCP using LabWindow/CVI ? ?

    Hi !
I'm looking for ways to learn & use "TCP" communication ( Client /
    Server ) together with LabWindows/CVI.
( all examples at your site are for LabView only )
Can you please let me know where to find an TCP Client / Server
    applications examples for LabWindows/CVI ??
If posible i'll like the exact addresse of pages contains this
    examples/information !
Also if posible i like to know if there is something about Ethernet or /
and Lan ( Local Area Network ) in the LabWindows/CVI.
I want to add that i know about the TCP Client/Server example in the
LabWindow/CVI - Samples, but it is not complete - it is only a skeleton
    which not explain
    it all.
I also want to know about the hardware i need to establishes a TCP
    connection !!
Which cable should i use to connect the Server & Client computers ?
Where exactly should i connect the cable in the computer ?
It very importent for me to get full answer as soon.
    Thank you very much !!
    Regards
    Noam G.

I would also like to see these examples, but I can help you on some of this. You don't really need any hardware (since you are accessing this site, I assume you have an ethernet card). For a cable, if you are connecting both computers to a LAN or the internet (direct or via a hub) use a RJ-45 ethernet cable. If you are connecting the computers directly to each other, you must use an ethernet crossover cable. The cables just connect into your ethernet port (where your internet access is plugged into now).
Go here for more info on a crossover cable:

  • What is the maximum number of row for a table control in LabWindows/CVI ?

I use LabWindows CVI 8.5.1 (MMI first developped in version 6.0).
In one of our many MMI, a table control contains a list of aircraft parameters.
We can add as many parameters (row) as we want but over 40 000 we observe a crash of the LabWindows CVI runtime.
Our client want to inscrease the number of parameters (row) up to 200 000 !!!
    So my questions are:
What is the real maximum number of row for the table control ?
Is this maximum number of row different on LabWindows 2010 version ?
Or is there an other solution ?
    Thanks

    Greetings,
Can you clarify what you mean by "crash"? Is there an error message thrown? Is it possible that you've consumed all of the available memory?
    Please let me know.

  • Documentation on How to Develop an OPC Client Using LabWindows/CVI?

What documentation is there on how to develop an OPC client application using LabWindows/CVI?  What tutorials, if any, are there?  What reference manuals, if any are there?
I am completely new to LabWindows/CVI.  I will be starting soon with the tutorial, "Getting Started with LabWindows/CVI".  However, our application needs to communicate with an RSLinx OPC Server.  Any documentaiton on how to learn to do this would be very much appreciated.

http://www.ni.com/white-paper/4626/en/  Just did a quick google and this came up, Labwindows CVI and Labview are quite different but I usually look at Labview examples then try take the general idea from the example and apply it in CVI, hope this helps

  • Q: Must one use special LabVIEW types (e.g. float64) for DLLs in LabWINDOWS/CVI?

    Hello,
I have recently started compiling C code using LabWindows/CVI, and have successfully called a simple DLL function from within LabVIEW.
I have a question about the types defined in LabVIEW's extcode.h file:
These are defined to explicitly quantify the number of bits used for each data type (e.g. float64 instead of float) in order to eliminate ambiguity across compilers.
When I am using LabWindows/CVI to compile, do I need to use the LabView numeric types defined in LabView's extcode.h, or can I use the standard C types (int, float, etc.)?
Is there a distinction between having to use these special types for CIN versus shared library calls in LabVIEW?
    Thanks
    in advance,
    Frenk

You do not have to use the defines in extcode.h, but you certainly can if you want to.
The float64 is equivalent to CVI's "double", and the float32 is equivalent to CVI's "float".
These correspond to the double- and single-precision types in the IEEE Standard for Floating Point Arithmetic, IEEE-754.
    I hope this helps.
