How secure is icloud

How secure is in iCloud. Is the stuff I put there safe from others

As long as you don't share out your Apple ID, there is no way for others to get to your data short of hacking Apple's secure servers.

  • How secured is iCloud?

After reading so many people are spammed on their iCloud mail, including mine. This makes me wonder how secure it is to sync me data to iCloud.

    See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4865.

  • HT201342 How secure is iCloud email address? Compared to AOL or GMAIL?

Is it really secure? How can I b sure?

    Copied from: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4865
All traffic between your devices and iCloud Mail and Notes is encrypted with SSL. Consistent with standard industry practice, iCloud does not encrypt data stored on IMAP mail servers. All Apple email clients support optional S/MIME encryption.

  • How secure is iCloud mail?

    Hi,
yesterday, I've received spam mail from a Christine Meyer on Rasperry Ultradrops on my mac.com account on both the standard and one alias. What makes me nervous is the fact that this alias is not known to anybody because I've never used it so far. What is of even more concern is that my wife received the very same spam on her me.com email which she has NEVER used as an email address so far.
We all are on Macs that are protected by 3rd party firewall, IDS, AV etc. (Symantec on some machines and Intego on the others).
As I'm working in information security, rest assured that both I and my family are trained on security and also my perimeter is secure.
The only thing I can think of right now is that the email addresses leaked from Apple's systems which, of course, would make me more than nervous.
I will ask in my networks now who of my friends using iCloud email have received that spam, too.
If anybody of you has received the same (see below) spam mail, there might be a serious breach.
    Thanks for comments.

    Same here. Raspberry Ultradrops.
All my iCloud emails received it. I think it's unlikely that all my addresses were guessed.
Everything in the header is spoofed - to, from, reply... all meaningless:
It's the only spam my iCloud email has received to date. Whatever... spam is just an unavoidable fact of life.

  • How stable and secure is iCloud?

    Hi,
So I have recently started using iCloud a lot and I now rely on it for mostly everything online. I have a iMac and iPad and I want to use iCloud to save work at school so I can access it at home easily.
I have been doing some important work at school including 2000 word essays for Cambridge IGCSE and I am wondering how secure is iCloud and how stable is it? Because I'll be saving all, if not most of my work to iCloud in the future and I have changed my email to my @me.com for all services I use online.
    Thanks.

This article discusses iCloud security: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5125.  However, iCloud doesn't provide a general file storage capability.  It only syncs data from specific apps such as iWork.  This article discusses options for cloud-based file storage: http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/missing/inicloud3.html.  I personally use Dropbox and find it extremely reliable.

  • HT4759 how to cancel iCloud space

    how to cancel iCloud space

Why is it so "easy" to cancel a service with APPLE?  I have signed up for a iCloud plan two years ago and now have decided to cancel it simply because I don't want to use it anymore. I went on Apple.com to read the whole support area with so many subjects while none of them would give me a clue on how to cancel the service. Then I tried to find the phone number to call, then the website gave me two options - either leave a phone number so someone can call me back, or call them LATER, WHY? I chose to leave a phone number but the site gave me some time slots that are all super early in the morning like 5 or 6 or 7 in the morning which is totally not convenient for me, as a single mom I am extremely busy in the morning. Then finally I found a general service phone number to call. First, I had been put on hold for 5 minutes until someone answered my phone, then she put me on hold again for another 10 minutes just to connect to another department or so. Then finally I got to talk to the right person, she asked me a bunch of security questions that makes me feel like I might not be able to cancel the service if I ever failed to answer those questions. Thanks god, I passed the test!  Then she put me on hold again for another 5 to 7 minutes, and the other side of the phone started playing very annoying heavy rock and roll music that almost made me hang up!  Normally I don't write reviews or give comments on services but this time APPLE really ****** me off by playing such an old fashioned bad trick to keep a customer which is polar opposite from their products and other services.

  • How Secure is an account following computer theft?

My computer was stolen several months ago.  How secure is the mail now on my MobileMe/iCloud account?  I have changed the password a few times since then, I use SSL on my e-mail servers.
How safe is it to continue to use this one email address?  What other safety/security considerations should be put in place if it is safe to continue to use this address?  I realize that pretty much any e-mail account can be hacked so I just want to take as many precautions as I can as I would really prefer to keep this e-mail address active if at all possible.  Otherwise, I have to start over after many years with this account.  I was advised by Apple that as long as I changed the password (which I did) then things should be good.  Is this correct?
The big question.  Would GMail be considered more secure than iCloud?  If so, why?  If iCloud is more secure then, again, why is this?
    Thanks!

The security of iCloud (or GMail) is in the password. Once you've changed that (hopefully to something which can't be easily guessed) the thief can't access your account, though of course he can still access any data actually on the Mac.
It's actually fairly unlikely he would bother: there is very little to be gained by hacking a private email account. If he has any idea what he's doing he's far more likely to have wiped it to make it look like a legitimate second-hand one.

  • How secure is skype video calls?

So I saw this post dated 2012: http://blogs.skype.com/2012/07/26/what-does-skypes-architecture-do/ It's attesting to our user privacy.  But we all know the recent huge celebrity photo leak back in September 1. Photos that should have been secure in the icloud were leaked. Even those that have been deleted long ago. And Apple says they are concerned with our privacy too. Now my question is how secure is skype to skype video calls? (assuming that we use computers/tablets that have only safe programs installed and that the other party is trustworthy)  Do Internet Sevice Providers have access to the videos? Are the videos even stored anywhere even temporarily or are they just played livestream never to be seen by anyone again? If we choose to delete our IM's, are they really permanently deleted? Can ill-intentioned skype/ISP employees get access to our videos? Skype says they are using encryption and I am no expert on that field but I do know it's not 100% secure. Some of these questions have been answered in the blog post above but that do they still apply in 2014? Answers would be very much appreciated!

    Skype's privacy says itself:
    No.8
Skype will take appropriate organizational and technical measures to protect the personal data and traffic data provided to it or collected by it with due observance of the applicable obligations and exceptions under the relevant legislation. Your personal and traffic data can only be accessed by authorized employees of Microsoft or its affiliates, subsidiaries or service providers who need to have access to this data in order to be able to fulfill their given duties.
So how about 256 AES encryption? lol
Microsoft authorised employees can look into your voice calls, video calls messages and everything!!!

  • HT4436 how to login Icloud with apple ID on windows 7

how to login Icloud with apple ID on windows 7

If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:
    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId?loca lang=en_US
Must be a verified email address.

  • I would like to know how to DELETE icloud from my iMAC desk top. Would it automrically have synced with my wife's I pad, and other wireless devices, or is it all seperate

Can anyone help me out ?
I would like to get info on how to DELETE
iCLOUD from my desk top MAC.
Would it already have synced to the iPAD?
Apple does not give any info on the iCLOUD,
in a proper way to DELETE..for that matter,
I can't even find "SETTINGS" on my Mac,
let alone settings for iCLOUD.Any info
would be better than what Apple gives up.
Apple is useless when trying to get any information!

You have to search with some patience and you will find all the informations on the Apple support pages and here in this forum.
You find i Cloud in SAFARI at www.icloud.com and set as you like.
Usually iCloud sincs all the devices which have the same AppleID.
If you wish to use devices for different persons you need to give them different AplleID and on the MAC create different User Accounts. Each will be fully separate.
Or you can go to settings (settings are to be found under the apple icon on top left of the screen) and from there open Sistem Preferences and iCloud.

I have a windows PC. When I enter my apple id and password to the icloud, it shows "Apple id is correct but it's not an iCloud account" So how I create iCloud account or how can I fix it?

To enable iCloud on your Windows PC,
first set up iCloud on your other (Apple) devices,
then install the iCloud Control Panel for Windows...

  • Do you know to how update my iCloud ID to match my Apple ID if I don't know the password and I don't have access to the old e-mail address?

    Hi Guys,
Do you know to how update my iCloud ID to match my Apple ID if I don't know the password  for the old ID and I don't have access to the old e-mail address?

    Hi Guys,
    I've sorted it
All I needed to do was add my old e-mail address - not as the primary but as an alias. This allowed me to delete the account on my iPhone 4S and re-sign in with the correct e-mail address.
    Happy now

  • HT4847 How to use iCloud as virtual storage

Sorry for my ignorance but does anyone know how to use iCloud as virtual storage for music n photos that I don't want on almost full iPhone? I have an iPad too and don't mind if these items are on there. Thx!

You can't. It doesn't have an option that allows you to not have a copy of the data on your Mac. You can make the suggestion to Apple at https://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html
