How set configure a static IP address correctly on Actiontec MI 424WR rev F??

I just got a new Verizon/Actiontec replacement router and I want to configure 4 or 5 static IP addresses beginning at 192.168.1.201  and above.
At this point, I have changed the DHCP range from 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.250, to  192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.200, so that is now the DHCP pool.  That presumably leaves anything above 192.168.1.200 open for static IP assignments.
a) So now  how do I create a Static IP reservation for a device? (what router screens should I use? do the device(s) that I want a static IP have to be connected?, etc.)
b) Once I have the static IP address reserved/configured, how can I make the appropriate port forward rule(s) for the devices?  Specifically, I want to allow SSH connections to each of the static IP addresses/devices.
(I tried this once but the router complained after I made the first port forwarding rule saying that it was already in use!?!? and I want to avoid this problem again)
Thanks

  • How to setup a static ip address and DNS on airport extreme using the iOS Airport Utility?

    I am at a location that only has wired ethernet.  The ethernet connection has a specific  Static IP address, subnet, gateway, and DNS setting.  I cannot seem to find how to enter DNS settings using the Apple Utility on an iPad. HELP!!!

    First, I am assuming that you are trying to administer your AirPort base station for a static IP address using the iOS version of the AirPort Utility ... correct?
    If so, then to do so:
    Start the AirPort Utility app on the iPad
    Select your base station.
    Select Edit
    Select Internet Connection
    Select Static
    Enter the appropriate IP address information
    Select Done
    Sorry, it does not appear that direct input for DNS IP addresses is an available option with this version of the iOS AirPort Utility app. Not sure why this was not included.

  • How do I assign static ip address on time capsule

    I want to assign static ip addresses to certain devices in my home but not sure how to do it through the iMac and Air Port/time capsule

    Not sure as I don't own an Apple router but on mosdt modern routers there is a way to set, that is SET, a constant IP for devices by their MAC address, that is Mac, Media Access Control address not Mac computer.
    I would think Apple has included that feature in their Airport routers.

  • Need to configure automatically static IP ADDRESS

    Hi,
    I am using VMWare and its inbuilted with Linux and Oracle.
    I want to use a static IP address for eg. 10.2.2.230 in ifcfg-eth0 under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts so that the static ip can be used in all other machines
    But when i am starting the VmWare in another machine the IP which has been set to 10.2.2.230 is not getting set and everytime I had to reconfgure in the other machines
    using the parametr IPADDR=10.2.2.230.
    Is there any shellscript to set the IPADDR that everytime i need not to reconfigure the IP Address.
    Any help will be needful for me

    Got two questions for you :
    1. What kind of network are you using within your VMWARE environment? Is it bridged, NAT, host only ?
    2. In your guest operating system (the vmware image), could it be that eth0 is set to DHCP?
    You can check it by executing 'system-config-network' as root. It will take you to the configuration screen of your network.
    Can you also paste your /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-eth0 here?
    Thanks,

  • How to Assign a Static IP address to VM created from VM template

    Hello All,
                I'm New to SCVMM, I have installed my SCVMM 2012 R2 in Lab environment and added 02 Hyper Servers on the same (One server is in domain & another one is in Perimeter Network). Once I added the Hyper-V's two Virtual
    Network's has been detected in SCVMM.
               Now I'm trying to create a new VM in each Hyper-V with a static IP address. I have created the VM template without connecting to any network, while creating the VM, below is my settings,
    VMNetwork : VMPeri01 (Perimeter VM Network)
    VM subnet  :  None
    (Grayed out)
           IP Address:
              Clicked Static IP
                          IP Protocol version: IPV4 only
    MAC address:
              clicked Static (its showing 00:00:00:00:00:00)
    Question: How can I assign the static IP to my New VM?
    Note: I have created a static IP pool for the virtual network (w.r.t : http://www.virtualizationadmin.com/blogs/lowe/news/adding-an-ip-pool-to-vmm-2012-241.html)

    While creating the VM choose the Virtual Network on the Hyper-V from the IP pool which you have created it wil take the IP during provisioning.

  • How to configure Multiple static NATs

    Hi,
    I am trying to configure a Cisco 871 router.
    I have 3 servers on my network that need static public IPs but also still need to communicate on the local network.
    I have given my WAN interface the first IP in the block and set up PAT for the rest of the computers on the network which is working fine. Next I set up static NAT rules for the servers translating 3 of the remaining public IPs to the internal addresses of the servers.
    I can access those servers internally using the public IPs but not from outside the network. A tracroute from outside the network gets dropped when it gets to my ISP.
    I've never configured more than one static ip for a network before and i know i've just missed a step here. Do I also need to set up static routes? Will that update the next hop's routing table?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    You can execute multiple apply processes ( parallel parameter ). It is pretty much scalable.
    There is one thing why 2 propagate processes can be helpfull: I consulted one client with different reqs for replication delivery for different tables. In this case you can create 2 propagate processes in different schemas (with different db links).
    For maitainence point of view one propagation and one apply is better

  • How to route Multiple static IP addresses

    I have 5 static public IP addresses from Comcast Business. I need to host 3 low-volume web sites with distinct domain names which map to unique public IP addresses. I have all three web sites on one computer.
    Linksys has told me it can be done (but has NO useful support); and Comcast has told me it can be done. I've searched high & low on forums for a solution but can't find one.
    Equipment:
       Linksys WRT300N router
       Webserver is Windows 2003 with 3 NIC cards
       Cable Modem is an SMC 8014
       Cable Provider: Comcast Businesss
    I already have the router set up for a Static IP and have entered my first public IP address, cable modem gateway and DNS servers. I have also port-forwarded port 80 to the web server.  One web site works fine.
    My question is: How can I route the other 4 ip addresses to the web server?
    TIA,
    bert

    If you already have set up the forwarding and it does not work for those other IP addresses, then it can't be done with your router. You'll need a router which supports one-to-one nat which allows you to map multiple public IP addresses to LAN IP addresses.

  • How to configure VPN with Cisco ASA 5505 behind Actiontec MI424WR

    I'm trying to test my Cisco VPN client from my workplace to my home where I have a Cisco ASA 5505 (VPN server) behind the Actiontec MI424WR.  I'm able to Ping the Actiontec external IP.  I also have Port Forwarding for IKE and IPSec configured on the Actiontec, but I cannot establish the VPN connection.
    What do I need to configure on the Actiontec to make this work?
    Also, when I test this at home, the MI424WR acts as the DHCP server for my laptop and the Cisco outside interface.  At home, I'm able to establish the VPN connection from my laptop to the ASA, allowing me to see a shared drive behind the ASA.  However, at home, I cannot go to the Internet while using the VPN client.
    Thanks for any help.

    Are you a FiOS customer that has phone/internet/tv
    or no tv?   or no phone?    You have to be careful on your configuration or you might lose some TV features and functionality, like the Interactive Program Guide, or the VOD or the Widgets.
    Sorry the Portforwarding wasn't enough to resolve your issue, I am not sure that it's a Actiontec config you are looking for, from my understanding of Cisco's and FiOS it may be something behind the cisco that is causing an issue.  You may want to reach out to the Cisco admin that manages that, and find out if there are additional ports that are required and then you can come back and configure those ports too.

  • How to set static IPv6 address/gateway in Arch (NOT tunnel)

    Hey Everybody,
    Today I decided to install Arch Linux. There was only one thing that I did not understand, and that is how to set up a static IPv6 address. I have native IPv6 connectivity at home and in Debian I used to edit /etc/network/interfaces to set up a static IPv6 adress. Since Arch uses rc.conf, what is the syntax to configure a static IPv6 address?
    I used to add something like this in Debian in /etc/network/interfaces:
    > iface eth0 inet6 static
    > address *my static address*
    > netmask 64
    > gateway *my gateway address*
    Or can I still use /etc/network/interfaces in Arch?
    Thank you for help.

    It can be done quite easily using the netcfg infrastructure.
    /usr/lib/network/connections/ipv6static
    #!/bin/bash
    . /usr/lib/network/network
    ipv6static_up() {
    load_profile $1
    ip -6 a a ${ADDRESS} dev ${INTERFACE}
    if ! [ -z "${GATEWAY}" ]
    then
    ip -6 r a 2000::/3 via ${GATEWAY} dev ${INTERFACE}
    fi
    ipv6static_down() {
    load_profile $1
    ip -6 a d ${ADDRESS} dev ${INTERFACE}
    if ! [ -z "${GATEWAY}" ]
    then
    ip -6 r d 2000::/3 via ${GATEWAY} dev ${INTERFACE}
    fi
    ipv6static_$1 $2
    exit $?
    /etc/network.d/eth0static
    CONNECTION="ipv6static"
    DESCRIPTION="Static configuration for IPv6"
    ADDRESS="2001:dead:beef:cafe::1/64"
    INTERFACE="eth0"
    GATEWAY="2001:feed:dead:beef::1" # Comment this out if no route needed
    I haven't tested the gateway part, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. You'll need iproute2, and to read up on netcfg (see http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Network_Profiles) if you have trouble.

  • Unable to access internet when static IP address is configured

    Hi
    I am facing the problem for not getting the internet in AD Server(DC) if configured with static IP address. If we set DHCP it will connect to internet. When I check the IPCONFIG on DHCP settings its showing the external address of the ISP router. Not the
    firewall. Suspect there must be a foul play with DNS. Appreceiate your prompt response.
    Thanks

    Hi
    First, Disable ipv6.   then run the netsh command to reset  IP stuff.  Just a warning though,
    I think this will only apply to this problem if you are using static IPs.
    Here is the netsh comman:
    netsh interface ip set address name="Local Area Connection" static xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx
    ip address  subnet mask  gateway

  • How to setup a static IP for a wireless printer

    This problem has been ongoing for several versions of OS X and the last five printers I've had and I'm finally over messing with it.  For some reson, when using a wireless printer with OS X this is a repetetive problem, and I think if I configured the printer to a static IP address instead of using DHCP, it might work better.  At least once a week, if not more often, I'll print something and get the ubiquitous Dock error of "Printer is not connected".  The printer is still in Preferences, but if I delete it, then it doesn't show up as it should for selection.
    The only way to fix this is reboot, and then the printer shows up again in Preferences.  I select it and all is well again...until a few days pass and the same thing happens again.  Using an HP LaserJet P1102w, still a current model, but it doesn't matter which printer I use.  I also have an Epson Artisan 725 and the same thing happens with it about once a week.  Also, this happens from both my Mac and my wife's Mac, so it's not an issue with just my machine.
    I've searched for documentation on how to setup a static IP address for a wireless printer with the Airport Extreme, but all I find are tutorials on how to do it with an ethernet hard-wired printer.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You could set up your router to do manual assignment of IP address instead of using DHCP, but that is a PITA, because then you'd have to manually set up IP for all your devices.
    If you have AirPOrt Extreme, you could do this:
    In your Apple TV, go to the Settings >> About and write down the MAC address of your ATV
    Start up the AiPort Admin Utility
    Go to Network tab
    click + in the DHCP reservations
    Choose an IP you want for your ATV & Enter the MAC address
    From now on, this IP address will be reserved to the MAC address and only your ATV will be able to get it, no other device will.
    It is not a static IP in a true sense, but behaves just like one.
    Works great for me...
    If you don't have a AP Extreme, I'm sure other routers will allow you do reservations too.

  • Hyper-V Gen 2 Windows Server 2012 R2 VM cannot define static IP address

    Hi,
    I have setup a physical server with Windows Server 2012 R2. It has only the Hyper-V role installed. The physical server has two NICs that I have teamed with Hyper-V port as the load balancer. I have created 1 VM on this Hyper-V server that is a
    Generation 2 VM running Windows Server 2012 R2. It has one NIC in the guest OS that is connected to the Hyper-V switch.
    Now the Guest OS works fine and network connectivity is great when using DHCP but when I configure a static IP address in the Guest OS all network connectivity is lost even with correct IP configuration. Is this something to do with a Gen 2 VM?
    A little more background - We have another Hyper-V server running Windows Server 2012 R2 with the same NIC teaming in the Host OS, on this Hyper-V there is a GEN 1 Windows Server 2012 R2 that has a static IP configured which is working normally.
    Any help is appreciated.

    I have resolved the issue. It appeared the hard IP phones were using the same IP range that I was attempting to use so of course the VM could not use the IP Address. Silly mistake.
    Elliot, I suggest you mark as Helpful and Answer any responses above that were helpful to you in getting this issue resolved. This is how the forums work.
    For example, if a response mentioned "VM generation has no effect on the vNIC." and that pointed you in the direction of troubleshooting networking instead of wasting your time looking into VM generations, that may be considered "Helpful"
    If a response mentioned "Make sure you're using valid IPv4 settings" and indeed you ended up having invalid IP settings such as a duplicate IP, this may be considered "Answer"

  • Airport Express will not hold a static IP address

    I have a LAN subnet  which uses static IP addressing in which I have an Airport Extreme and four Airport Expresses, one of which is hard wired to the Extreme, the others wireless. All are running in bridge mode and should have fixed IP addresses in the LAN range. I can configure these for the Extreme and the wired Express, but when I try configure the wireless Expresses for static IP they quickly revert to DHCP, and unsurprisingly do not connect to the internet, though otherwise work fine  (i.e. AirPlay isOK). (The LAN subnet uses private 192.168.x.x addresses and NATs to the internet; it uses fixed IPs to avoid the 'double NAT' problem. I get good internet connections from wired devices and wireless devices connected to the Extreme and wired Express).
    The wired Express is the latest model: the wireless Expresses are the previous (plug-in) model. All are running Airport 7.6.3.
    I am unclear whether reluctance to hold a fixed IP address is because (a) they are connecting wirelessly or (b) they are older models.
    Does anyone have any ideas about this?

    I have the same problem and please someone HELP!
    I read almost all entries regarding to how to enter a static IP address. I completly understand how to enter the information but I feel like an idiot because I cannot figure out how to save this information.
    I experienced the exact same symptom what many others with intermittent wi-fi connection and using a static IP seemed to solve it completely. BUT the lovely iPad just doesn't want to remember the configuration, as Dwoody1 described it above. There are other posts related to the same issue but I could not find an answer.
    Could someone please tell us if people struggling with the same problem are missing something or there is no way to make the iPad to remember static IP settings!
    THANK YOU
