Can I setup my Time Capule 2TB as a VPN server so I can connect to my network from a remote (out-of-state) location or is there another way?

There is no vpn server in the TC so no you cannot use it that way.
If you want to use vpn .. buy a vpn endpoint modem or modem router or router depending on your broadband. Bridge the TC so it is simply a part of the network and all routing functions are handled by the vpn router.
If the TC is directly facing the internet.. ie you get the public IP on the wan interface.. you can connect by checking the remote access and using a decent password. Security is no where near as good as vpn but for occasional connection is probably OK. You can only use AFP protocol. So this must be done from a Mac computer. Just do a google search.. lots of sites.. lots of threads.
If the TC is not getting public IP then you can port forward AFP to the TC.. that is the only protocol still.. SMB is blocked by all ISP as too dangerous as half the computers in the world would be exposed.
There is a final issue.. you need either a static public ip or dynamic dns service. The TC does not have a dyndns client.. mobileme used to provide that service but is being discontinued. Cloud is now the way.. if you need a dyndns service read how to set this up..

You need a personal domain for this to work.. note also the experimental aspect to it.
IMHO vpn with a vpn router is the way to go. All vpn routers have some dyndns client services.

Can you setup both VPN server and Back to My Mac on Lion Server?

I have been trying to figure out if this is possible for some time. Can you use both Back to My Mac and VPN server services at once on a OS X Server?
So far here is what I have found:
- According to http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629 Back to My Mac and VPN use the same UDP ports(500,4500)
- I have been able to get my VPN service working by removing all access for Back to My Mac(in System Preferences->iCloud) as well as removing all "Mobile Me" access on our AirPort Extreme.
The moment I try to add an account to access the network via Mobile Me(ie Back to My Mac) on the Airport Extreme, I am no longer able to make a VPN connection.
Checking the Service VPN Logs, no log entry is shown for the failed connection.
So, my questions are:
1. Has anyone been able to get these two working on the same server/network?
2. Is there any way to change the default ports used by the VPN server service on Lion Server?

Just as FYI....I just started using iCloud and tried the "back to my mac" on a mac server that is my VPN server.
Enabling "back to my Mac" prevents the VPN from being useable.
Disable "back to my mac" and the VPN works again, as verified from both another MAC and an iPhone.

Configuring Cisco TFTP Server for CUCM

I currently have a Publisher and two Subscriber (v 6.1.3), I have now gone over the magical 1250 devices where Cisco recommend a standalone TFTP server.
I understand to deploy it I need to add it to the Publisher as a Server and then once up and running enable the Cisco TFTP service, then update the Option 150 address in my DHCP scope to point towards the new TFTP server.
A couple of questions, does the TFTP server need the following installed at the same level as the Publisher/Subscribers:
Dial Plans
Device Packs
Locales

- By architecture, the TFTP server would be the one pushing out the firmware load and to the phones - so you would need your device packs, containing the bundle of firmware loads, to be on your standalone TFTP server.
- locales install files which the phones get from the TFTP server, such as their dictionary - so you would need locales on the standalone TFTP server
- Dial plans are files used by the CCM binary file. If you are not planning on running CCM service on the server ever, you don't need to install dial plans on that server. However, as best practice, it is good to have dial plans, locales and device packs uploaded on this standalone TFTP server, in case the server roles were adjusted at a later point in time.

How to setup vpn-server in Mountain Lion 10.8.3?

Before I updated my mac mini server to 10.8.3 I used Server Admin to setup a vpn server. After the update Server Admin isn't supported anymore and my vpn settings are gone. Now i want to setup the server again, but have no clue what settings to enter where.
I suppose it starts with adding two vpn-interfaces: PPTP and LT2P.
But how further? I can't find a tutorial or manual.

I do now :-)
And many thank, that's the application I was looking for. My vpn is back online. Well, the mac-part. I still can't connect with a Win7 system. Connecting to a vpn-server of another company works fine, so it's something in the configuration of de Mini Server.
The error code is 629.
Hopefully someone can help me with this part too?

How configure Report Server

Hello everybody,
I have just installed Developer 10.
Yesterday, I made a report JSP from JDeveloper with the Report Builder, but when I execute the page with the local OC4J Server, the page crashes:
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: REP-51002: Fail to link to Reports Server central.cie
'central.cie' is the server where i have installed the database and the Oracle9iAS. In fact, I access to the Oracle Enterprise Manager with central:7777
The DB Connection is all right, but I don't know which is
the Report Server.
I don't know how configure the Report Server, if I must deploy in the Oracle Enterprise Manager or if it has one by default.
Please help me as soon as possible because I'm in a hurry. Next week I have a presentation of my project and It's only left the reports.

Did you test the report from within builder ? In builder there is a "run to web layout" (a traffic light icon in toolbar). Clicking on it will run the JSP report to web

SR520 VPN Server Vista

Hi there,
we setup a VPN Server from the CCA. We used the default Security -> VPN Server path. We then exported the VPN Profile to a PCF file.
The Cisco VPN client works fine on 32bits operating systems.
How do we set this up on Vista and Windows 7? The Client installer says '64 bits not supported'
The Cisco AnyConnect VPN client has no option to import a PCF file. And the manual says it does not support IPSec/UDP.
What are we to do?

One more issue:
you can setup websites from the internet that can be used from the outside after logging on from the Cisco web interface, but without actually setting up the VPN.
This is a nice feature. It works fine for non-secure (http) websites. However, we also a https site on the inside with a self-signed certificate (iomega storage device). This device cannot be accessed this way.
So two questions remain (I've given up on the Mac issue):
* how do we install a new certificate for the SR520 from the CCA
* how do we get https websites to work

VPN Server under Static NAT. Any advices?

Is it possible to setup a VPN server in DMZ under a static NAT translation? I have 2911 as an edge router, another 2951 as a firewall with four zones - inside1, inside2, outside, dmz. All IP addressing between edge and firewall is private. The web and mail servers are working in DMZ under static NAT. The question is - can I also setup VPN server in DMZ under the static NAT? The clients establishing VPN tunnels will work with DMZ servers (other servers) only. Thanks!

VPN Server behind Time Capsule

I have a mixed environment at home, with several Macs, two Ubuntu servers and 3 Vista laptops the family uses. Recently I had the need to setup a VPN server on one of the Windows machines with standard PPTP/L2TP, nothing out of the ordinary. All my internal clients can connect to the VPN server just fine, however, I find no specific VPN passthrough option nor a port forwarding option for GRE in Time Capsule, thus, any external connection attempts have been in vain. Yes, I have tried this by dropping all firewalls, etc for a short period of time, but to no avail.
The time capsule is hooked up directly with my ADSL2+ modem, where RFC bridging is setup on the modem to allow Time Capsule to be my sole NAT devices.
Any insight into this, or has anyone else had success with this?

I did extensive testing with this last night but still managed to get nowhere (did fix another NAT-PMP on IPv6 issue I had though by enabling Tunneling on the Time Capsule -- another story but my time wasn't completely wasted ).
I'm just trying to get L2TP working personally... I think this uses ESP rather than GRE but the same principle applies. I disabled all 'Back to my Mac' services too, I felt these may be interfering with IKE/NAT traversal ports (I know it's a requirement to kill these for CISCO VPN client to work).
Which ISP are you with btw? I'm on BT.. You don't think they are the root cause in my case do you? Clutching at straws now i know.

VPN server on 871 already functioning as DMVPN spoke?

Last week I was sitting in an hotel far away from my family. I wanted to use Skype or MSNMessenger to contact them with Webcam. It didn't work, because there was some huge firewall, blocking several ports. So I decided to setup a VPN server @home, so I could access to everything I wanted, and not be blocked by the firewall of an islamic state... :-)
My 871w @home is functioning as a DMVPN spoke which works well.
Is it possible to contact my router from far away, and then be able to access the internet and my home-lan?
If someone can point me to a (simple :-) config, I will be very thankful...

How to configure Cisco ASA 5500 to work with the iPhone

We have Cisco ASA 5510 (latest firmware version), and apparently, according to Cisco website it is compatible with new iPhone 3G's IPSec client:

We've setup our first iPhone properly. It connects fine to the network, shows VPN connection as active. Gets a private IP address. But does not let any traffic go to the internal network. We thought it might be DNS problem, but it cannot connect to Exchange server even when using IP address instead of DNS. No luck either.
After checking ASA logs, we found that iPhone goes through Phase 1 authentication correctly. But then gives some kind of error, mentioning "Attribute 5".
Has anybody been successful configuring ASA5500 series (in particular 5510) to be used with iPhone?
I noticed that many people are having these problems.
Please do not post to this topic if you have ANY OTHER Cisco device.
Cisco specifies that iPhone is compatible only with Cisco ASA 5500 Security Appliances and PIX Firewalls. Neither Cisco IOS VPN routers nor the VPN 3000 Series Concentrators support the iPhone VPN capabilities.
Let's keep this topic only for users of ASA 5500 series and PIX Firewalls.
It would be extremely helpful for a large number of users if somebody posted a list of settings for ASA5500 or PIX firewall that DO work with iPhone 2.0

For iPhone you have to be using IPSec tab for configuration.
We tried to set up this config using the wizards, but it would not work.
Later it turned out that wizards by default set this setting:
"crypto isakmp nat-traversal 20"
equal to zero and there is no way to change it from the GUI.
Only after we changed it (increased the value from 0 to 20) through the command line the connection started working perfectly.

How do I configure snow leopard server to allow local client to access the server using its public domain name

I have SLS 10.6 running on my local network with DNS configured.
I can access the server from a client on the lan using server.local or server.domain where domain name is my publically registered domain,
From the internet I can access my server using the registered domain name i.e. www.domain.com.
Is it possible to set my server up so that www.domain.com also reaches the server when used by a client locally? At present I get a page not found error.

The configuration you're aiming for is called split-horizon or split-brain DNS, and it's quite possible. It can get slightly hairy when you have different stuff using the same host name for different purposes, for instance, and you'll need to track all external DNS entries in your internal DNS server when you're running "split".
Here is how to set up DNS services. Split-horizon is one of the options listed there.
My preference is to use a different domain or subdomain within the network, and to avoid using split-horizon where I can reasonably manage it. One domain name is configured for and reachable outside and is effectively public, and the other domain (or a subdomain) is inside and private and only reachable directly or via VPN, for instance.

How to setup WRTSL54GS VPN?

I'm fairly network literate but I need a walk through for setting up a VPN on WRTSL54GS router and how to confirm settings are working.
I talked with Support (in the Phillipines)and advised me to set my DSL modem to bridge mode, done that and Internet connectivity is OK. But the documentation on configuring the VPN is very weak. For testing I am dropping the wireless on this router and connecting to a neighbors open wireless router and unable to connect to the VPN I setup. My router does have the latest version of the firmware.
I plan on using the VPN to connect to the network storage connected to the router when offsite.

That was the point of buying this router. I really don't want to leave my workstation on 24/7 but, prefer to have a low cost storage online dedicated to the purpose.
Is there a home based router with firewall, wireless, wired capability, with attached storage accessable from both inside and outside securely that does not do pass-through VPN but instead can act as a termination for the VPN?
I have configured the FTP server and have connected that way but that leaves the password and username transmitted in clear text. Any sniffer could pick up on that. I want to make this a secure connection even better if I could restrict the MAC address to my laptop only connecting.
I'm open to ideas. What have others done low cost?
What if I purchased low cost network storage with its own IP and placed it inside my home network, of course it would have a NAT'd non public IP. I suspect since the router is pass through VPN the storage would have to have VPN capability?
And I think I read something in the forum that if the VPN is setup only the VPN is allowed through and I would not be able to surf the net? Not quite sure of the details how this works. Might be another road block to using this router.
