Ok so mot that long (like 2 weeks) should it be kept in certain conditions, certain battery - plugged into the mains

Shut off the machine and unplug it. I think the manual says to leave the battery at 50%, though you probably won't see many problems from two weeks. Keep it someplace cool, at least. Leaving it in the sun won't be much help for the battery.
Dunno if removing the battery will help.

Ok - this may be a daft question - but should the TC be left on all the time or is it ok to switch it off at the mains each time I shut down my iMac?

I've tried leaving my TC on all the time but it seems to be constantly active (the green light flickers) even when there are no computers attached to it. Your daughter will have to send it back to you. You will have to reactivate it on you line. You will then have to request to have it unlocked. See THIS thread for more information.

How should I back up? - Ethernet HD vs Time Machine

The rundown:
-I think it would be pointless to back up my whole computer since I just want certain files / folders to remain secured.
-I want to have access to these files remotely (do not want .mac account)
-Want the functionality of NAS drive to share media / files w/ others on my small home network.
With that said, I have so many options, but I have read nothing that leads me to get an NAS drive since Time Machine is hit or miss with it. Or I could use Carbon Copy Cloner (anyone used this?) w/ an NAS drive to back up the folders I want.
Any suggestions? I have reached an impasse in my research as to the best option. How should I back up my important files and folders?

How to know if executing a query cost long time

Hi,
I have a question about how to figure out if execution of a query takes long time. I am building a web application in java. The back end database is oracle. If a query is too large, I want to put show the user the error message to let the user make more specific query. but how can I tell if the query execution takes long time? Thanks.

For the last week, I have been having serious intermittant DSL connectivity problems. Nothing has changed in my house, we do not have wireless, no other comm devices, etc. I have opened a trouble ticket with Verizon.com because of static on the phone lines - perhaps that is the problem.
However this morning, I called the DSL tech support line (800-567-6789) and described the problem. That individual told me the following:
-- I should leave DSL modem (Westell 6100G) on all the time in order for the modem to maintain sync with the central office.
      ==> IS THIS CORRECT?
              If this is correct, would someone please explain the technical reason for this?
-- The tech support person is sending new DSL filters just in case. When I tried to use the automated Verizon phone system, the system keep thinking I was inputting wrong answers to questions. I turned off the modem and this problem disappeared. Wierd!!!
-- The tech support person is conducting a 24 hour test to see if line problems are discovered.
Thoughts anyone?

DSL is very sensitive to noise quality issues, and if you are getting static, I would wager that they are directly connected. If it's the splitters that are the problem (and yes that is possible) then removing them and your phones from the picture would yield a positive result. but that would mean you would have to leave the phones and filters unplugged for x amount of time and depending on the frequency of the drops, that may be unrealistic.
Phones and filters go bad, so it's possible to have had a working set of phones and filters, and never touched them and yet still have a problem in the future.
The DSL modem should be connected at all times, as that is what DSL was designed to be. an always on connection.
In a perfect world I would say that you can disconnect and connect it at your leisure, but with all the little things that make DSL hiccup, its best to leave it plugged in 24/7. you can unplug it, it won't hurt it, and it will save you a little bit of energy, but it won't do much for your performance other than extend the life of your router.
and do not believe that they are running any legitimate proactive 24 hour test - they MIGHT grab some stats off the modem that show stuff, but a lot of it is information that a normal tech would not be able to decipher.
My advise, either disconnect the phones and test that way like I described above, or wait for the filters.
leaving the modem plugged in is a personal decision, I personally would leave it plugged in 24/7 unless I was not protected properly on my PC and worried about attacks/virus's

To give you some hint right now:
In the "Additional PL/SQL Code" tab, "Before displaying the page", add following code:

Firefox shows a black screen suddenly while browsing or when left idle for long time (more than 1 hr).

Firefox suddenly turns totally black while I was browsing yesterday. I tried restarted it, and it works fine. In such state none of the menu or actions items are accessible. Even while closing the browser I get the confirmation popup which is also completely black.

I need to find what my website history was from over a month ago. Safari only shows my history from yesterday and today. Is there a way I can go back farther? I don't have an antivirus program that does this for me.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no built-in mechanism that records such information over such a long period.
Perhaps if you shared what you are trying to accomplish, Readers could think of another solution for you.

records at a time.the query isReally i dont know yours this approach will do ,how can you say that display 100 records at a time will boost the performance by using sql.You had better tune yours sql.You are using function within sql 'UTTAR PRADESH (EAST)' ,did you inspect this function which may be the real culprit to slow down the performace by using tkprof.
Give extra detail to us ,yours oracle version what yours function code as well what you required from that above million of records.

not sure if I understood your question well but here is some thought:
we can't change the input tray margin and paper has to be placed on center and both gude should be adjusted properly. however if you want to set any margin on output, you can set margin on application.

From the screen shots it looks like your script is not formatted properly (you may refer to 'Paladin Script' in 'Sample Project' to get an idea of how the script should be formatted.).
Further please follow the steps mentioned below to use Story to PP workflow.
Create a new Film script in Adobe Story
Create scene heading – INT. LOCATION – Day (these will show up in the outline view panel on left hand side)
Hit enter, hit TAB
Enter the name of the speaker, hit TAB or ENTER
Copy over the transcribed text
Build your script this way
Number scenes from the production menu
Export ASTX file for your script : File->Export->.astx
Open Premiere Pro
Create a new project, bring in media
In the project pane, find the "Scene" column
For the clip that contains the spoken text, assign the same scene number to the clip as you have in the story script (lets say both are scene 1)
Click out of the scene box in the project panel in Ppro
Right click on the scene that you just assigned a scene number to and select – attach Story script
Select the .astx fle you exported in step 8
Click ok
You should now see the script data in the metadata panel for the clip in the metadata panel.
You can now run speech to text based on "Embedded Script metadata" to time align spoken word to the script.

Yes. Do this:
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
If you are preparing an external or a non-startup drive, then open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
