How should i build and export a composition from After Effects to be dropped into a Premiere project

I've built a project in Premiere which i plan to burn to DVD. It's exporting at 1280x720. Pixel aspect ratio is 1.0. I'm exporting with MPEG2 setting.
After Effects won't let me make a project with 1.0 pixel aspect ratio, and it isn't letting me use MPEG2... it's giving me this medial 02 error...
Help!

Well where should I start? AE will allow you to use square pixels. In fact the 1280 X 720 frame size is the HDV/HDTV 720 P preset and it's square pixels.
You don't set the compression until you render and, if you want the highest quality, you don't render MPEG formats of any kind using the Render Cue, you export them using the Adobe Media encoder. Where is After Effects telling you you can't use MPEG2??? How are you trying to get there.
If you are going directly to Premiere Pro (Which only exports or renders using the Adobe Media Encoder) you don't even need to render, you can just import your AE Composition into PPro.
Secondly, A DVD is not High Def in any form. DVD's are all 720 X 480 pixles (in NTSC countries). The only options are widescreen or normal.
Please read the sections on Rendering in the help files.

  • How to Create and export motion data from After effects CC to Flash CC

    Hi there ,
Basically what I've got here is as follows.
I have a small character animation (about 100x100 px) - that is running inside a screen of 1280x720 px.
I want to hold the caracter in one position (so that I can get ridd off the useless alpha. i guess i will do that manually by keyframing)
and also to give a motion data to be used in Flash CC - to assemble the original animation.
Can anybody help me out with this?

Yeah, that's one of the reasons that we removed it: no one was using it. And it was terrible.
    Here's more information:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5555577
Of course, if you _do_ want this feature, it's relatively easy to save the project back to After Effects CS6 and then use After Effects CS6 to create an XFL file. Keep in mind that all Creative Cloud subscribers have access to CS6 versions, too.

  • How do I import and export PDF's from Ibooks

How do I import and export PDF files from Ibooks on the IMAC running Mavericks?
How do I sync my PDF files in IBooks to the IPAD when they were not purchased from the bookstore?
I noticed that I could email the PDF and then add it to IBOOKS on the IPAD.
Is there a 3rd party IBOOK type reader that will address this issue?
When I upgraded Mavericks it moved all of my PDF files in ITUNES application to IBOOKS and removed all reference to those
books in ITUNES. When I purchase a book from IBOOKS store on the IMAC, the books shows up in IBOOKS on the IPAD.
All of my PDF files will not sync up with the IPAD.
I do hope this is a problem that Apple will address and would like to know when the fix will be available.

    Hello,
Thank you. I found that option you pointed out. I can now change it from 1080i to 1080p and I can chance the resolution. However I still can't change the frame rate. It still stays at 29.97.
Could this be due to the camera? I am using a Canon VIXIA HF S100 with 30p and 24p frame rate options. I suspect that it does not really shoot at true 24p and only does 24p within 60i.
Frankly, I don't really care about getting 24p support too much but it would be very nice to have the option.
I'll keep toying with the program. Still, anymore ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you Wild Giles.

  • How do I export a video from After Effects CC to an iPhone? I'm using a PC.

How do I export a video from After Effects CC to an iPhone? I'm using a PC.

Short answer, there is no simple "export to iPhone", but if you just want to have a movie that you can watch on you iPhone, just send yourself an attachment via email (other than .avi) and save it to your phone.
You can also use dropbox as an option.
With an app, you could mount your iPhone as an external drive. (check out iExplorer)
Also: check AME for h264 variations before you send it to yourself.  There are presets for iPhone compression.

  • Problems exporting Animation codec from After Effects CS3 to FCP

    Hi,
I wonder if anybody can help: I am having troubles with video transfer from After effects CS3 to FCP 6
my workflow is to edit and export in FCP as quicktime movie - work on the clip in AE and then export as Animation/best quality/Millions of colors+. The footage is SD Pal 1024 x 576.
the problem is that the files don't seem to play back properly in quicktime - very jagged and lots of ghosting. I assume this is due to the memory heavy features of the codec.
However any file over 10 seconds will not be imported into FCP natively and a message reads final cut pro does not support this file type.
I overcame this by opening the clip in quicktime and then exporting again with exactly the same settings - this then reads in FCP - although this seems over the top
I now want to work with a 10 min finished comp in FCP but when I try to do this it picks up the ghosting that had appeared when playback in quicktime. However when rendered/ exported from the FCP timeline it retains the ghosting
in short I can burn a successful DVD of the footage as is from AE but it is not suitable to FCP.
I have tried exporting the clip in quicktime as quicktime DV pal but this retains the ghosting. Is this a hard ware problem or is my work flow wrong?
    thanks
    Paul

Converting from A to B means either a lossy conversion or a significant increase in storage requirements (up to 5x with DV as the starting point). You are best served with keeping conversions to a minimum.
    > cause this compressor doesn't like images
    What is that based on?
    > in several forums I have red that "automatik" inside of encore does often not work properly
This is in contradiction with the general feelings on this forum.

  • Exporting Transparent Background From After Effects

I am working on a FCP project which I have also made an animated lower third in After Effects. However, I do not know how to export from after effects preserving the transparent background- it always just ends up as being black...
    Thanks

From AE, you must use the Animation codec set to millions of colors+

  • Can't import and export  MPEG2 files in After Effects and Premiere Pro.

I don't know when started, but a few days ago my Premiere Pro and After Effects don't recognise MPEG2 files.
When I try to open a Premiere Pro with a MPEG2 file in it: "This project contained a sequence that could not be opened. No sequence preview preset file or codec be associated with this sequence types"

Just to verify that the files are not corrupt...
Report back with the codec details of your file, use the programs below... a screen

Also... does your PPro show the option to de-activate? (having the de-activate option available means your version has not "lost" activation)

  • Audio is missing when I export longer mp4s from After Effects File via AME. Can you help?

I’m using After Effects to colour correct and add some titles to long .mov files. (typically 45 mins to 1.5 hours in length).
I am then rendering out to the Vimeo 720 25 preset (.mp4s with h.264) using AME.
The problem occurs when I try to render out larger compositions (anything over an hour).
I start to get audio issues, such as no audio, glitchy audio or audio that only starts after 40 minutes for example.
The shorter compositions work fine. And RAM previews always work fine.
(I’m using Creative Cloud on an iMac running Mountain Lion.)
Has anybody experienced this bug, or know a way to fix it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I tried to reproduce this issue by adding a shape and a table in Publisher, export it as an index.htm file, copy and paste the HTML code which in the <head>
    tag and <body> tag only.
It turns out that the original design is gone.
When digging into the HTML code, I found that the HTML code from Publisher might not be compatible with SharePoint page.
For example, a shape which is added in Publisher, the corresponding HTML code would be something like:
    <span style='
    width:228px;height:231px'><img alt="shape here" width=228 height=231
    src="index_files/image296.png" v:shapes="_x0000_s1026"></span>
We can see that, the value “src” attribute of the <img> tag represents a relative path which can’t be found in the existing SharePoint site structure, it means
that the shape will not appear in SharePoint page.
    In Publisher:
    In SharePoint page:
As a common practice, I would suggest you create a new HTML file using Visual Studio or SharePoint Designer and examine the design in browser during the development,
it would be easier to compose a valid and browser-compatible HTML file.

  • Export to FCP from After Effects

I am exporting an After Effects file to FCP that I have created. What is the best setting in After Effects to get the best picture into FCP. I have been using the DV setting on rending out from AE but When I import in to FCP I get Lines running through the video. I have tried using De-interlace effects on it but it does not seem to help much. Is there a better setting for export from AE to FCP. Any help would be great.

    Depends.
What is your sequence preset in FCP?
I'm assuming DV NTSC. I would render to the Apple DV codec so that FCP will play back the clip without rendering. If you are field rendering choose Lower Field First, and if you're field rendering you may also need to be separating the fields on your footage items, also Lower Field First. And of course your comp must be 720x480 29.97fps.
Unfortunately there are many places where you can screw up the render in AE, not just the render stage. But as long as you do everything right the playback in FCP should be good.

  • Camera rotation problem when exporting a camera from After Effects CC to Cinema 4D 15

Looking around, this problem is happening to a few people, with no satisfactory solution.
Basically, when I export an AE camera / project into C4D, everything looks great... till I notice that the camera's horizon will jump a few times.... so that if it were tilted 20 degrees to the left, it will pop to be tilted 20 degrees to the right.
It's definitely not in the footage- it's a simple walk down a hallway. The AE track is fine- it's only in the C4D track that the problem arises.
I've tried creating new AE projects, re-exporting, etc. I'm running AE CC and C4D 15.
Anyone ever figure out how to fix / get around this?
    Thanks!

    It's 13.2.0.49... I just installed it yesterday.
    C4D is R15.008
I'm wondering if I would have the same issue with C4D Lite, but I can't figure out how to open it (I assume it downloaded with AE). Rather than launch Lite, AE seems to automatically find C4D 15 and open that.
I've been using AE and C4D for over 15 years, so I'm quite familiar with both. The bug is odd and quite disappointing, as I bought this version of AE specifically so that I could track footage and export the camera info into C4D.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

  • If I buy PPCC how do I build and burn a DVD from my finished project

I am about to purchase a new IMac for editing on, moving up from my 7 year old Mac Pro running FCS2.
Am I right in saying that Premiere Pro CC does not come with Encore?

    In a sense.
There is no CC version of Encore, however, Creative Cloud subscribers also get full access to the CS6 suite, which does include Encore.

When diagnosing a failed render the first thing you should look for is the difference between the failed project and one that is successful. What is different? What changed?
Before we can get any idea of why these renders are failing we need to know the encoding settings and the type of source footage. Encoding Failed does not tell us anything useful in diagnosing the problem. If your AE project is using effects or footage that is clogging up memory or has some other problem then we should know about your AE comp as well. That means we need to know what version of AE you are using, what effects are applied, and anything else that is different in the project that fails and a simple project that does not.

  • Exporting layers of audio from After Effects  cs6 to Premiere / or Audition? Is this possible?

exporting layers of audio from After Effects  cs6 to Premiere / or Audition? Is this possible?
Help - I have an After effects project with multiple layered files and want to copy these to Premiere / Audition. For example I know if you select multiple video files from After Effects these can be pasted straight into Premiere intact - but this does not work with audio. I want to take existing layered audio files from After Effects to Audition / or Premiere but can't copy and paste - is there a simple solution for this?

Hi thanks Dave for responding - yes that could work as a 'workaround' -  I was hoping there would be a way I can keep the existing independent audio layers and corresponding audio levels from After Effects- in the same way I can copy and paste video files from After Effects to Premiere - rather than exporting a flattened AIFF /WAV from After Effects.
This would then allow me a lot more control working on the final edit - especially as currently a lot of the audio layers overlap. It does seem there is no simple solution for this, so  otherwise I can do what you suggest - and 'stagger all the audio files' in sequence so they do not overlap on the timeline and then when I import the flattened exported AIFF file into Audition/ Premeire / I then can cut it up again and recreate the overlaps. Was hoping there might be a simple copy + paste method or other 'export method' but I guess this is simply not possible. It would save me about 7 hours of work, but not the end of the world I guess
One final point - some of the audio clips are .mp3s but the majority are WAVS, hopefully this should not create any issues on the export.
thanks again for your help, if you or anyone has any other solution pls let me know
    Best
    Alex

  • No option for export pro res 422 from after effects cs6

There is no option for export prores 422 from after effects cs6 on new mac os 10.8.2 shows up and works on older mac 10.6.8
How can I get this option back?

I will guess that you used to have Final Cut Pro, but you no longer have it.  Generally, only machines with Final Cut Pro installed are able to write to ProRes 422.
There are third-party codec packages that do write to the ProRes family of codecs.  They have been discussed in this forum, and you could search for their names.  I'm sorry to say that I don't remember them.

  • "Build and Export Cache" fails to export 100% Previews:

"Build and Export Cache" fails to export 100% Previews:
I am moving from Bridge CS5 to CS6 and have a very large number of 100% Previews in my CS5 cache.  The idea of regenerating all these 100% Previews in CS6 is NOT amusing.  It is amazing that there is not a simple import function for this task as a way to make the software upgrade more "seamless"… but apparently there is not.
I have read the Adobe documents:
"Bridge Help / Manage the cache | Adobe Bridge CS4, CS5"
"Creative Suite / Work with the Adobe Bridge cache"
Based on these documents, in Bridge CS5 I used the export function in
    Tools>Cache>Build and Export Cache…
        with "Build 100% Previews" checked
and "Export Cache To Folders" checked.
Unfortunately, the "Build and Export Cache" fails to export 100% Previews to the target directory.  They should appear in the target directory as hidden files in the format xxxxx.NEF.JPG.  Yes, I do know how to view hidden files in both the Finder and in Bridge.
In Bridge CS5 I tried Purging and rebuilding the Cache for the target directory with no luck.
I tried running "Build and Export Cache" in Bridge CS6….  still no hidden Preview files in the target directory.
My settings in both CS5 & CS6 Bridge - Preferences:
"Keep 100% Previews in Cache" is checked
"Automatically Export Cache to Folders When Possible" is checked
My settings in both CS5 & CS6 Bridge - Options for thumbnail quality and preview generation:
        "Generate 100% Previews" is checked
    Using OS X 10.6.8
    Anyone have a suggestion?????

Bridge is the only piece of software I have used, which incorporates a database, where new versions do not provide for importing the objects of the older version.  Very strange.
That is a very mildly conclusion but unfortunately until the cache strategy for Bridge is finally sorted out this problem will exist.
Now I have to confess that I can't use the 'Auto export cache when possible' for several versions now due to a rare problem that after the first time usage without problem created export cache almost every second time generates a warning message that due to failure it needs to replace the Cache T file, hence I deselected this option permanently.
I would think that if you have those already cached and exported files for 100 % preview in the dedicated folders it would read those files and add it to the database and central cache file when having pointed Bridge to that folder, but I'm far from sure about that.
Also after rereading your first post you state to expect the build and export cache to build also hidden files with the two extensions from original filetype followed by .jpg from cache in the folder itself (target directory)? Here I'm a bit lost. The mentioned double extension files only appear in the central cache folder and are visible but buried  in the subfolders for each quality in the central cache file at user library (default) or custom set location in Bridge prefs.
The exported cache to folder are hidden files and as long as I can remember that where 2 files already in the File browser (forgot the extension they used for this) and currently .BridgeCache (very small, few KB) and the for me problematic .BridgeCacheT file that can grow very large and has about the same size as the subfolder generated under full in the central cache.
I can see the content of the central cache without problem including the double extensions and previews of the files as thumbs in the Finder, jet with option to show hidden files I can see the CacheT file but only as a blank document icon and I can't find an application on my system to open this file to reveal its content.
Just tried it on a folder with small sized files and having set preview quality to HQ and 100 % preview (checkerboard icon in Path Bar) and then used the option from menu tools to build and export cache to folder including 100 %. Both subfolder in Central Cache and about same sized hidden CacheT file where generated without problems and the full preview was instantly on demand using magnifier. (but all this without the option in prefs to auto export to folder)
So to me it seems (if I understand everything correctly) that either the existing exported files from CS5 do cause the problem or your setup of CS6 is not working correctly.
Are we still on the same track or am I completely lost?
