How should I set PDF settings in Photoshop

Hello I want to create classic A4 pdf document with text, few solid color shapes for background and few pictures. Because I want it to be opened as fast as possible, I choosed default settings for smaller size pdf. Problem is, that, even the filesize is small, opening time is very long. I can see how all the content is rendering... I compared it to much bigger pdfs whit much more difficult graphics and they are fast. So can someone help me how to set pdf saving in photoshop better? thanx

How Should I Set my Settings in iTunes?

I have iCloud, Lion, iOS5....everything. Should I have to sync my iPad and iMac at all? And how should the settings be set in iTunes. I notice that I have checked that iCal, Contacts and everything to Sunc, but shouldn't they be unchecked if they automatically go to both with iCloud? I thought I had them unchecked but they are checked and are syncing when i sync my iPad. Will this give me double entries? Please clarify the settings in iTune...checked to sync or unchecked? If you are syncing your Calendar and Contacts with iCloud - you do not want to sync them with the computer as well becuase you could end up with duplicate entries. So uncheck them in iTunes so that they do not sync. If you uncheck them in iTunes, you will have to click on the Apply button in the lower right corner of iTunes in order to lock in the sync changes.
If you do not want to do so, you don't have to sync with your Mac. That is your choice now with iOS 5.

How do I set the settings back to default?

Inherited my photoshop from previous employee. How do I set the settings back to default like the keyboard shortcuts and anything else in the preferences? Would like to do this without reinstal as finding the original disc will probably be a hassle.

you can reset the Photoshop preferences in the following way
Windows: Shift + Ctrl + Alt
Mac: Shift + Command + Option
Hold down the above keyboard combinations while starting photoshop.
You will be asked if you want to reset preferences -answer yes.

How should I set up Premiere elements organizer?

I'm using PS CS5 and Lightroom 3. I'm about to install Premiere Elements 9 to do some editing and animation. Since I can view my images and clips in LR library and also Adobe Bridge, what are the advantages or disadvantages of PE organizer? How should I set up the defaults and use PE Organizer? I'm a little concerned about using the same file in different programs. For example, say i have an image that's already been processed for printing and has a specific color profile/ color space that I want to use now as a starting point for an animation in PE. I just don't want to end up writing over previous data but I'm also concerned about having 15 verisions of the same file. Any suggestions for peace of mind? I'm running windows 7.

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

How should I set GPG to use with KMail or even rather Thunderbird?

In the last 3 hours I tried to set Thunderbird (Enigmail) and KMail to use my GPG key. I failed.
I made the keypairs with Kgpg, installed enigmail, restarted the Thunderbird, set everything, but TB didn't asked for password, only gave an error message that it can't use gpg in batch mode and the password is wrong:

I read a lot and all I found is that I have to disable the use of gpg-agent in Enigmail's settings, but it was alredy disabled, despite I got this message:
"Your system uses gpg-agent or a similar tool for passphrase handling (gpg-agent is mandatory if GnuPG v2.0 or later is used). Since caching of passphrases is handled by gpg-agent, the respective timeout settings in OpenPGP are disregarded. In order to change passphrase caching options, please configure your gpg-agent tool."
After many pages I gave up, it seems it cannot be solved.
So I tried KMail. But KMail didn't ask password, too. Google, searching. I found that I should install pinentry-qt. Well, pinentry is already installed and I have pinentry, pinentry-qt and pinentry-qt4, too. So I searched for another solution. Then I found that I should use gpg-agent (I used it already according to Thunderbird) and I have to write use-agent to .gnupg/gpg.conf. It was already there. Then I found that I have to make a file, .gnupg/gpg-agent.conf whit this content:
pinentry-program /usr/bin/pinentry-qt4
no-grab
default-cache-ttl 1800
So I made it. After this I add the eval "$(gpg-agent --daemon)" to my .xinitrc, as it was written in many posts. I logged out and in. Still no luck.
The gpg-agent in terminal says:
gpg-agent: gpg-agent running and available
I tried a test I found on forums: echo "test" | gpg -ase -r 0xDEADBEEF | gpg. It says:
1024-bit RSA key, ID CFF2728D, created 2011-05-17 (main key ID CD35B00C)
gpg: problem with the agent -disabling agent use.
Then it asks the passphrase. I type it in, but then a message appears that I didn't have any public key.
I tried to disable gpg-agent, but didn't helped. Thunderbird said:
"can't connect to `/tmp/gpg-y2XPqU/S.gpg-agent': Kapcsolat elutasítva

You must first go to your Apple ID and take the device off of your listed devices and then wait until it is updated accordingly ...Next link the iPhone to her Apple ID. go to the app store and on to 'featured' scroll down to the bottom and it shows your apple id, click it and sign out and you can then sign in with your new apple id
If you mean your iCloud ID, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the ID you want to use. If you are signing back into the same account, just with a renamed ID, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted. Your data will be synced back when you sign back in. However, if you are changing to a new account with a new ID and need to migrate your synced data to the new account, choose Keep on My iDevice when prompted. Then choose Merge to upload your data to the new account when you sign back in and turn on your iCloud data syncing.
If you want to keep your photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll before deleting the account (tap Edit, tap all the photos, tap Share, tap Sae to Camera Roll).

How can I set pdfs to open in a new tab instead of prompting firefox to open them in Adobe itself?

I use a website with many links to pdfs. In Windows XP (probably an older version of firefox) I could right click on the link to open a new tab, and the pdf would open in the new tab. In Windows 7 (and updated firefox) when I right click to open a new tab, a new blank tab opens and Adobe starts up displaying the document in a new Adobe window. How can I change the settings to have pdfs open within the new tab (without opening Adobe)?

Tools -> Options -> Applications Tab
Under Content Type find Adobe
Under Action, Left click and select "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)"
That should do it!

Help! How do I remove PDF Settings??

Hi Folks,
I need some quick help please. We've removed the default PDF settings (such as: Smallest File Size, Press Quality, PDF/X, etc.) in order to use only our custom settings for output (this is so our users don't get confused and use the wrong settings).
Removing the defaults from these two places:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Adobe PDF\Settings
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat 7.0\Distillr\Settings
works for about 3 months, then mysteriously some kind of auto-run installer asks to re-install the settings triggered by I don't know what. Our users always click yes, thus re-installing all the defaults again, and switching our default PDF setting back to "Standard".
Ack! How do I turn this auto-intall off, or disable it?
Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks, but that's not an option. If the default settings are there, someone will use them, and cause a problem in our company. My boss wants there to be no other settings, and I agree.
Why doe they auto-reinstall after I delete them? they don't seems to be necessary for creating PDFs. I certainly can make a PDF without having any defaults intalled.
How do I remove them permanently? Anyone??

I'm a little lost on the best way a) format my data for csv and b) what type should it be loaded as. It is for a spaceship battle game.
InternalItems = some data type that can be from 0 to 20 items like computers, engine boosters, etc.

If your indexing range is small, array lookup is the fastest. Hashing requires running hashCode() and does unoptimized searches during collision.

If your output is saturating try to reduce your relay amplitude and/or reduce the gain Kc of the PID controller before starting the autotuning procedure. You can find more information about each of the parameters that you've inquired about at this KnowledgeBase article.
I would recommend taking a look at the General Auto PID Simulator.vi example. You can find this example by doing a search in the example finder or by clicking linked example at the bottom of the detailed help page of the Autotuning PID.vi.
If you haven't looked at the PID user manual that also contains useful information on setting up PID algorithims and Autotuning.

Wife Getting Iphone, how should I set it up?

I currently have an Iphone, Ipad, Ipod touch, Apple TV, and MBP. all of these are utilizing the same apple ID for itunes, homesharing, etc... My wife is now getting an iphone and i need to know how i should set that up. She does not have an apple ID currently. She wants to be able to have the same music, videos, contacts, that I currently have in my phone, ipad, computer. Can she utilize the same icloud account (my apple ID) and still have the ability to have a separate message and facetime account.

Yes, you can set hers up with your existing Apple ID and share everything you want (manage in iCloud Settings). I have two iphones, an ipad mini, two apple tv's and a mac, all using the same account.

Just picked up the AEBS - How should I set up with all my devices?

2010 MBP, 2006 macbook, 2 iPhones, iPad, and Netflix on the Wii.
Will want guest network, WPA2 across the board, different SSIDs for the bands, N for mbp and iPad, and usb HD for both laptops.

Question - If I select the 5GHz to have it's on SSID, won't that negate the dual band benefit if I'm only connected to one of the bands?
Dual band can be confusing to understand.
The default setup of the AirPort Extreme will assign the same name (SSID) to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. +This is the setup that most users should use because computers and other devices will automatically connect to the band with the best quality.+
So, if you have a new computer and it's relatively close to the AirPort Extreme, it will probably connect to the 5 GHz band. If it's a few rooms away, it will probably connect to the 2.4 GHz band. Why? 5 GHz signals are faster, but they are not nearly as strong as 2.4 GHz signals, which penetrate obstructions more effectively than 5 GHz.
Unfortunately, the laws of physics dictate that in order to gain something (speed in the case of 5 GHz), you have to give up something in return (distance and penetration power).
If you have an older, slower wireless device, it's going to connect to the 2.4 GHz band whether it is close to the AirPort Extreme or at some distance because it cannot connect to the 5 GHz network.
So, why assign a separate name to the 5 GHz network? The only logical reason to do this is to "force" a computer to connect to the 5 GHz band (even if the signal quality is not as good as the 2.4 GHz band). You can "tell" your computer which band you want it to connect to if you have separate names for the 5 GHz band and 2.4 GHz bands.
If you enable the Guest Network, it is also a dual band affair with both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz components. Both bands are assigned the same name (SSID) on the Guest Network and this cannot be changed. That's probably a good thing.
It will be much easier for +most users+ if they go with the default settings and assign the same name to both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. If you think about it, the computer will automatically connect to the band with the best signal quality (which is really what you want). But, depending on the location of the computer, it may not necessarily be the band with the fastest speed.
I was always under the impression the dual band meant you were connected to both a 2.4 and 5GHz connection and therefore had "dual" the speed
Your computer can only connect to one band, either 2.4 or 5 GHz. It cannot connect to both bands at the same time. Dual band simply means that the router provides a faster and not so fast network with the same name. Computers pick the best band to connect to based on their capability and location relative to the router.

How should I set up a project for .mpg files?

I recently got a panasonic waterproof video camera. when all is said and done, I end up with .mpg files. I brought them into premiere pro CS4 and started up a project using the avchd 720p 30fps preset. I used this preset, because it was my best guess, but when I play a clip in the timeline it shows up as a smaller picture than the monitor frame. after that I click on the preview and resize it to fit the monitor. then I bring the sequence into another project which is avchd 1080i 60 and again I have to resize the video. surely there is a better way!
by the way, the original clip shows up as 704 x480.
all advice is more than welcome. I'm sure I'm doing this absolutely wrong.

Try creating a Sequence (prior to CS4, you had to do this at the Project level) for the 704x480 with the appropriate frame rate, and see how that goes. You can do this as a Desktop Sequence to allow you to set the frame size.
Ideally, your Project/Sequence settings should match your Assets exactly. You can then Export to whatever is required.
