How should I wire to set up Apple TV?

I just ordered a refurbished Apple TV.
Right now I have both my iMac and my HD television connected by Ethernet to my Time Capsule (which in turn is wired to the modem). The iMac and the television are in different rooms.
There's an Airport Express (a/b) in the same room as the television, through which I stream music wirelessly from the iMac to the stereo in that same room.
When I receive the Apple TV, should I leave the Ethernet cable attached to the television and just use an HDMI cable to connect the Apple TV to the television, or should I switch the Ethernet cable to the Apple TV and then use an HDMI cable from the Apple TV to the television?
I want to be able to stream media from my iMac to the television, but I also want to be able to use Airplay to stream wirelessly from my iPad 3 and my wife's 2012 MacBook Air to the television. Are there any hoops I'll have to jump through in order to be able to do both?

Really? In another discussion, a level 10 contributor replied to someone asking how to stream from his iPhone to his television by saying, "You can stream wirelessly if you get an Apple TV and connect it to your TV." There was no mention at all in the discussion of a wi-fi network, leaving me with the impression that all that's needed is the ATV to stream from an iOS device. So I'm perplexed.
Now that I think of it, is it even possible to stream wirelessly from a laptop to a TV? Does a 2011 MBA have Airplay capability? I don't recall ever seeing any setting for it on my wife's MBA.
Please excuse me if I'm being dense.

If you have to go all the way through restore as a new device and it does not work, then it could be a hardware issue. I've not seen any other posts about screen issues after updates, so one of these should fix it unless there is a problem with the screen.

Hey everyone!
With lots of problems with my new iPhone 4s, studying Apple's devices and services such as Apple ID and iCloud,
it's time for me to create new Apple ID. I have made a lot of mistakes... New Apple ID! :)
So here's my question:
How to move to new Apple ID (which isn't created yet) properly?
I mean, how to save everything which I can save from my actual/old Apple ID? (And transfer/move to a new one?)
Apps, Songs, SMSs, iMessages, Calls History, Calendar, Contacts, PHOTOS, VIDEOS, apps' and games' data, Game Center account, Notifications, Notes, Passbook, Mail, Safari History and Bookmarks, Mail, FaceTime, Dictaphone's recordings, iMessages account and everything that I didn't write...?
(Like for example accounts which are using my Apple ID [such as Apple Discussions Account])?
+I want to change Apple ID, because I have downloaded apps from few iTunes Stores (Poland, U.S., Germany, Japan) and it is all messed up...
Also, should I completely restart my iPhone (like, to 'activate your device' window) or just log out from my old/actual Apple ID and log in to new one in iTunes Store on iPhone?
Maybe there's a different way to untie my apps and other purchases from my Apple ID? (For example turning off iCloud?)

Okay, so I can create new Apple ID and act like it is my first, but I can use the same email on my new Apple ID only after changing it on the old ID? I get it.
Now, how to delete every important data or accounts on that old Apple ID to know it can be gone forever, without any consequences for my iPhone/new Apple ID? (I want to break up with it, like it never even existed)
By that I mean: turn off iCloud or delete all my data stored in iCloud, delete game data and account in Game Center to use Game Center on the new Apple ID, things like that (Get rid of old ID forever and delete all it's data from iCloud, iTunes, or smth...)

This is what the previous owner needs to do:
Settings > Messages > iMessage > Off
Settings > FaceTime > Off
Settings > iCloud > Delete Account (this only unregisters and deletes it off the iPhone)

How should I go about setting an ssd hdd to my macbook pro

I currently have a macbook air. I am going to get a macbook pro 15 inch and take out the optical drive and put the hdd there and then a samsung 840 pro ssd in the spot for the orginal hdd. What i want to do is first copy my disk from my air to the ssd on the pro. Then i want to put all my media files on to the hdd.
My questions are--
1. How will i get OS X Mt Lion on my ssd? If i just copy over the disk image from my air to it will OS X be there or just the files? Also will the licensing and everything be in tact or will it have touble updating?
2. Is there anything i have to do to make my hdd and ssd work together while im running OS X. That way i can have my media on the hdd and other stuff on the ssd?
I evetually want to also boot camp windows 8 off the hdd.
Ive never done anything like thsi before so I really dont know what to expect. Excuse me for my lack of tech speak and whatnot.

While I don't use the optibay for an extra disk space (I use my SuperDrive for archival purposes and use it weekly) I don't think that the OP will have any problems, particularly with the OWC Data Doubler. Thousands - if not tens of thousands - people have used this method for placing another drive in their MBPs and very, very few people have reported problems (usually when using a cheap caddy/connector).
So while I don't use this method, I can't even begin to dissuade others from doing it.

How do you Set up apple ID / iCloud for family?

I have an Apple ID along with an iCloud account. My wife also has her own ID and iCloud account. We have two young kids that are starting to enjoy games, movies, music, etc... Currently we have 3 iPhones, iPad, an iMac , and Apple TV.
Both my wife and I have been purchasing apps separately but would like to share the apps with all of the devices. (We are both currently using the same music and photo libraries). Even with a family account it is important that my wife and I maintain our own contacts and mail and iMessages.
I like the idea of setting up a new Apple ID but get a little confused when it comes to iCloud.
Should I create a new Apple ID for the family and use one of the current iCloud accounts for the family purchases? (or get a third iCloud account?)
If we go with this new shared account idea, is it possible to still load some of the apps that we have already purchased, or do we have to start fresh and re-buy the apps that we like under the new account?
Seeing the majority of apps have been purchased under my Apple ID, it may make sense to use my iCloud for all of the purchases but don't want to share mail etc with my wife or kids?!? I'm confused.

I was having severe trouble with this myself until finally I decided to call Apple and spent an hour on the phone with a senior tech advisor. We finally figured out how to get it to set up Apple ID Authorization.
To do this First go into System Preferences>Sharing, then make sure screen sharing is turned on. From there, there is a list of authorized users with plus and minus buttons in the bottom left. Click the plus to add a new user, and then click New Person in the new window. After that a final window appears asking for User Name and Password. Simply put the name of the person you are adding with any password and click Create. From here go back to System Preferences and click Users & Groups. In this window you should see the new Sharing Only user. Click on them and set an Apple ID. After that test the new Sharing User by having the owner of the Apple ID connect to screen sharing or File sharing from their Mac. Keep in mind this only works Lion to Lion and they have to have their Apple ID set to their user on their own machine.

I have iCloud, Lion, iOS5....everything. Should I have to sync my iPad and iMac at all? And how should the settings be set in iTunes. I notice that I have checked that iCal, Contacts and everything to Sunc, but shouldn't they be unchecked if they automatically go to both with iCloud? I thought I had them unchecked but they are checked and are syncing when i sync my iPad. Will this give me double entries? Please clarify the settings in iTune...checked to sync or unchecked? If you are syncing your Calendar and Contacts with iCloud - you do not want to sync them with the computer as well becuase you could end up with duplicate entries. So uncheck them in iTunes so that they do not sync. If you uncheck them in iTunes, you will have to click on the Apply button in the lower right corner of iTunes in order to lock in the sync changes.
If you do not want to do so, you don't have to sync with your Mac. That is your choice now with iOS 5.

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

That "should" work. Drop the pin exactly where you want it, tap the arrow on the right and the select Directions to/from here.
