How soon did your iPhone ship?

Hi,
For those of you who ordered the new iPhone (5) during the "available 3-4 weeks" how long after you've place the order did your iPhone ship?
Reason I'm asking this is because I've read from numerous (trusted) sources that the "big three" in the US have lowered their waiting times to one week or less yet the Apple Online Store still states 3 to 4 weeks.

I have the same issue. Ordered it two and a half weeks ago, and even though the expected ship dates have changed from 3-4 weeks then 2-3 weeks and now 2 weeks, my date still shows the original ship dates of Nov. 30-Dec. 6
I can walk into the AT&T store right now and pick one up as they told me they have a few in stock. This is agrrivating. I keep waiting for the email to tell me it has finally shipped. I'm so anxious I check it several times a day! LOL.

  • How long did your MacBook Pro take to arrive?

My MBP is coming direct from Apple but as it was purchased via a reseller I have no tracking.
Its been over 9 working days already, but the apple site says 2-3 days is typical?
I'm soooo excited but its quickly turning to disappointment with every afternoon.
How long did yours take to arrive?

    Hi there,
When I ordered my custom MBP on June 25, it also said 2-3 days to ship. It shipped the 28th from China and arrived via FedEx on July 3rd. That was with standard shipping. I'm not sure if you used expedited shipping or not, but fyi, it is expedited only after going through customs - i.e. 2 day shipping will mean 2 days after going through customs. Depending on when you ordered, especially if you ordered right before or after Independence Day, it could be a day or two extra to process.
Good luck, and I hope you enjoy it when it finally arrives.

how can i buy iPhone shipping to Russia?

None of the Apple online stores ship overseas, they only ship within their own countries, so you will either need to wait until the iPhone 5 is released in Russi, or you will need to find another store that will ship to Russia.

How long does your iphone take to charge when at various battery levels remaining?
When your iphone is at 10% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
When your iphone is at 20% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
When your iphone is at 50% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
(Assuming that you charge the phone when the phone is off using the Apple USB cable or dock through a wall power outlet)

    Usually 1 1/2 Hours tops.
When your iphone is at 20% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
    Around the Same
When your iphone is at 50% battery remaining, how long does it take to charge?
    Thirty Minutes.
I think if it is taking you 6 to 7 hours then something is wrong here. Either the battery is flawed, the cable or dock is flawed, or something is wrong with the outlet. It should not take that long.

  • How long did your first wireless back up take??

After doing the initial back up via ethernet, how long did your first wireless back up take?? I can't seem to get past the preparing stage. However I have recently learned that the first time backing up wirelessly, the finder indexes the back up & this can take a while. I'm leaving it a little longer now. It has been preparing for about half an hour now.
    Is this normal?
How long does this indexing take?
    What are your experiences?
    Thanks.

So far for me it's been five days. I hooked up Time Capsule Thursday night, and after monitoring the progress for a few hours, I calculated that it should take three days, which I figured would mean that it should finish up by Sunday evening. (My MacBookPro had 103 gigs on it.)
It would have been nice if the instructions that came with the **** thing said something up front about hooking up via an ethernet cable for the initial backup. If I had seen those instructions before I started this nightmare, I might be done by now. Instead I started the backup wirelessly, which I'm sure accounts for some of the delay and hassle.
Unfortunately, the backup pace slowed steadily over the course of the weekend. By Saturday night, it had only done about 60 gigabyites, and by Sunday afternoon, it was only up to around 65. At that pace I figured I might be waiting another week before it finished, and since I actually take my computer with me when I leave my house, this would have deprived me of my computer for an unacceptable period. After doing some internet research and learning that using an ethernet cable would speed up the process, I therefore stopped the wireless backup, hooked up a cable, and restarted it at around 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
The backup then proceeded steadily at a faster (although not exactly zippy) pace. By midnight it had gotten through about 60 gigabytes, and after timing the rate at which it was proceeding by that time, I estimated that it should finish sometime around 8 p.m. tonight (Monday).
I left the computer along during the day while I ran errands away from home. When I got back around 6:30, it appeared to have finished the initial backup and to be in the process of finishing up an incremental backup. The progress bar said "backing up 12,443 items...51.3 MB of 51.3 MB." Unfortunately, it seems to be stuck there. It's now 8 p.m., and it still says it's working on those 51.3 MB. I don't know how much longer I should wait before deciding that it's frozen.
I'd like to just set this thing on fire. I bought the Time Capsule because I liked the idea of wireless, automatic backups. It was supposed to make my life easier, not make it a living ****.

  • How long did your installation take?

How long did your installation take? I'm just curious because mine went from saying 3 hours and 54 min, down to 54 min and sorta bounced around, its about 3/4 done.

Total, err, maybe a little over an hour? The counter was way wrong the whole time, so, yeah. Don't be surprised if when it says "About a minute remaining..." you actually wait about 20 more minutes. This seems to be happening to almost everyone. I know for sure it happened to me. The best advice I can give on the Leopard installer is this: It's a very poorly written piece of software, so, be patient, and give it lots of your time and love.

  • IPhone 2G- users, how long did your phone last?

I just got a 3G iPhone and I'm wondering if my phone will last the whole 2 year contract I have with AT&T... and hopefully longer when I renew my contract (so I don't have to buy a new iPhone)..
How many of you still use your original 2G iPhone for over a year+, and still no issues? (like dead pixels, or dead spots on the screen)
For those who do have issues, how long did it take for those issues to pop up? 6 months? 1 year? 2 years?

Mine is still gong strong after more than a year.

  • How to stop your iPhone from recording you

    There are 3 ways:
    - Apple does it for everyone (likely very soon)
    - Remove your battery (Hmmm, but how? It's built-in. Exactly, hmmm is the right word. The only way to properly disarm any device is to spray liquid nitrogen to freeze the battery rendering the device dead. (DON'T do it - it will kill your iPhone!)
    - by using a GPS simulator to output fake signals indicating any time/location you desire. Also known as a GPS jammer. (least likely since it's illegal unless you're for example Jason Bourne, they are also very expensive and used by various militaries around the world). There are two frequencies that GPS work on: public, non-military use (1575.42 MHz) and one used only the US military (1227.6 MHz). Because GPS uses radio waves, these waves can be jammed, though very expensive technical devices and expertise are needed for this purpose. Again, these are illegal to own by any civilian but it does not mean we cannot talk about their existence.
    Edit: (4th way)
    - Stop freaking out, use a case with a built-in clip and attach it to your belt/jeans/etc. Safeguard it and always be aware of it and treat it as if it was your passport or something else or high value.

  • GUIDE: How to put your iPhone into Recovery/DFU Mode

As most iPhone owners will be aware, you can reset your device by holding down both the home button and sleep/wake button together until the device reboots. This will cure the majority of crashes and issues.
However, there may also be occasions where the phone goes seriously wrong and may appear to be 'dead'. Not everybody is aware that there is a second method which can be used to bring a phone back to life when all else seems lost. Consider it a 'last resort' if you like!
The second method involves putting the phone into recovery, or DFU (Device Firmware Update) mode. Putting the phone into recovery mode lets iTunes know that it needs to perform a full restore on the handset. Here's how to do it:
    1. Ensure that the iPhone is OFF before starting.
    2. On your computer, open iTunes.
    3. Connect your iPhone to your computer using the USB cable.
    4. Hold down the SLEEP/WAKE Button and the HOME button together.
    5. After 10 seconds, let go of the SLEEP/WAKE button (keep the home button held down).
    6. Keep holding the HOME button until iTunes displays a message saying that it has detected a phone in recovery mode.
You will then be prompted to restore the phone using iTunes. Follow the on screen instructions and your iPhone will be restored.
You may also have the option to restore your iPhone from a backup, but I would not advise doing this if you think that an app may have caused your device to go wrong in the first place.
The above method can also be used to get around forgotten PIN numbers. I've used it to restore several of our company handsets when people have handed their phones back in but forgotten to provide their PINs!
I hope this helps. If anyone reading this needs a hand, just drop me a message and I'll be happy to talk you through it

The only thing I can think of is that the staff who had the iPhones didn't use an Apple ID, but then they must have done as they would have needed to have downloaded a couple of apps for work! We'll call it an 'anomaly'..

  • How to prove your iPhone 6 / 6 Plus 64 / 128GB is faulty

If you have the same issue as me where your iPhone 6 crashes repeatedly once you install 'too many' apps
NB Needs an iPhone 5 64GB as well as your iPhone 6
    Current iPhone 6 Plus 128GB
    As at 21/11/2014
    iOS 8.1.1
    960 apps
    46.25GB used
    57.72GB free
Turn of app updates in iTunes (Don’t manually update)
Turn of app updates on iPhone 6 (Settings/iTunes & App Store/Automatic Downloads (all off))
Take backup of iPhone 6 - still crashing but reasonably stable - called 'Normans iPhone 6i'
    Restore iPhone 5 to 8.1.1
Restore iPhone 5 from backup taken of iPhone 6 at step 1
Add 240 apps to iPhone 5 via iTunes - sort by size - add from smallest - now 1200 - doesn’t crash
Swap SIM card over from iPhone 6 to iPhone 5
Add same apps to iPhone 6k as in step 6 and see what happens…
Actions for step 8 above -
essentially all this is, is adding the same apps to both iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 until iPhone 6 starts to repeatedly crash but iphone 5 does not crash
NB All crash numbers referred to are consecutive and self-repeating re-boots. All installs via iTunes.
First attempt to sync 24 apps via iTunes to iPhone 6 caused iP6 to crash (Apple logo) but sync then completed ok (STCO) but deleted folder created to hold apps just added
2nd 24 apps - iP6 crashed again - repeatedly - Apple logo x 3. STCO then crashed again. Recreated folder for new apps - then resynced - crashed again
    Next 23 apps - crashed x 2.
Needed to resync (NTR) as all but 2 apps from step 3 left as loading or waiting (ALOW)  but iTunes unaware. Crashed x 3
NTR 11 apps from step 3 ALOW. Crashed x 2. STCO apart from 1 app
    Next 23 apps - crashed x 3.
    NTR 15 apps from step 6 - didn’t crash
    Next 24 apps (new folder) - crashed x 4
    NTR 23 apps - crashed x 6
    NTR 21 apps - crashed x 2 - STCO
    Next 23 apps - crashed x 5
NTR 17 apps - STCO apart from missing app icon label for 16 apps
Resynced to move last added apps to folder. Crashed x 4
Now at 1106 apps - so far more than previously eventually installed. So means crashing caused by a combination of number of apps and their size? Leave at this for time being and test usability of phone.
Tried a couple of apps. Crashed x 3. Closed iTunes
Total of 98 SpringBoard crashes over a four hour period
Tried running several apps a few hours later and no crashes…! So need to add more apps?
Next 24 apps (new folder) - crashed x 10 consecutively
NTR 15 apps - no crashes!
All very inconsistent - but does this suggest size of apps is as important as number? Currently installing at approx 5MB in ascending size order. Currently at 1135 apps installed to iP6 (1200 to iP5)
    Next 23 apps - crashed x 9
NTR 10 apps - no crashes
    Next 23 apps - crashed x 4
    NTR 6 apps - crashed x 3
    NTR 3 apps - crashed x 1
    Next 14 apps - crashed x 4
NTR 5 apps - no crashes  (now same 1200 apps installed as on iP5)
Next - install large apps on iP6 & iP5 (as large number of small apps seems ok apart from install crashes)
Next 4 large apps (1.1GB (Batman Arkham City) and down in size order) - crashed x 6
NTR 3 apps - 3 stuck on loading - no crashes
    NTR 1 app - crashed x 1
Install same 4 large apps on iP5 - did not crash but did need to resync 1 app as stuck on waiting
    Next - install 10 medium apps  on iP6 & iP5 (150MB and down - from Antrim Escape 1) -
Next 10 medium apps on iP5 - no crashes
    Install same 10 medium apps on iP6 - crashed x 6
    NTR 8 apps - crashed x 5
Then ran several apps on iP5 without a problem
Then did same on iP6 - initially ok then started to crash repeatedly - more than 20 times
    Also crashes when power off!
So hard reset to see if would clear and uninstalled 2 of 4 largest apps recently added
Still crashing (self boot and reboot) - so removed 2 more large apps - every time an app was removed (via Manage Storage) - it crashed…
Also crashes whenever it turns itself off

But you are still not explaining why an app should be the problem and not the OS. I've never had this repeating crashing problem with my iPhone 5 despite the fact that installing apps presumably also modifies its OS.
I also have more than 1,400 apps installed through iTunes, so are you saying that you think it's reasonable for Apple to expect me and other iPhone users in the same position to go through the incredibly time consuming process suggested by your colleague to sort out which of my 1400 apps are causing this problem?
If one app can cause the iPhone 6 to crash - why not many apps?
From the posts I've seen this also appears to be a problem with just 64 & 128GB iPhone 6's - not the 16GB iPhone 6. Isn't it true that different (older?) memory has been used for the 16GB - so is this the real issue - iOS cannot (yet) determine which apps may be a problem for its newer memory or OS and so is dumping the problem on its customers?
